Template:Recent death on Godfrey Gao

Hi, per template guidelines:

This template should be used only in cases where many editors (perhaps dozens or more) are editing the article on the same day. It should be removed as soon as this editing subsides. Do not use it merely to tag the article of a recently deceased person, as that is not the template's purpose.

The article is stable at this point; it is being updated with details as they come in by three or four editors, not frantically edited by dozens of editors at a time. The template doesn't need to be on the page. Morgan695 (talk) 04:03, 28 November 2019 (UTC)

Your March 2 edit to Western African Ebola virus epidemic broke several other pages by removing the content between the <section begin /> and <section end /> tags; pages like Zaire ebolavirus depend on the content between those tags to populate things like their case and death counts through the labeled section transclusion mechanism. Hello Yeungkahchun, I just noticed you reverted me on the 2019–20_coronavirus_pandemic without providing any summary. Can you tell me why the danger of COVID-19 in one for or the other shouldn't be adressed in the intro of the article ? Iluvalar (talk) 23:23, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

Your statement "which may be deadlier then common cold outbreaks" was removed for various reasons:

- Not at all relevant in the lead. The point of the lead is to provide a main concise summary of the event. - Further context relating the virus to common cold outbreaks is described later in the article. These details do not belong in the lead which is supposed to be a concise summary of the event. - Your statement is not certain and it is not objective. "Which may be" indicates a degree of unsureness - Not cited at all. Needs to be cited with universally accepted scientific research. - Even if it is factually cited & supported, it does not belong in the main lead as it does not contain - The addition of your statement makes the sentence run-on and too long. The lead has to be to the point. - The sentence does not even make sense as it contains a grammatical error: "then" vs "than" Yeungkahchun (talk)

The potential danger of the virus IS intrinsically the reason why this virus is notorious it MUST be in the lead in that regard, it's highly relevant. It as been dodged by the editors so far because, precisely, of the degree of unsureness around the subject. While I am aware of the shortcomings of this first draft, I assure you that the point of view expressed in the sentence is shared by a significant amount of people. Please discuss disputed sections

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on COVID-19 outbreak; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. Regarding this reversion, please see the nutshell at WP:BRD: "If your edit gets reverted, do not revert again. Instead, begin a discussion with the person who reverted your change to establish consensus." As I said in my edit summary, there is no need to split the term "presumptive nominee". "Republican presumptive nominee" means exactly the same thing without splitting the term.

National Anthem of Hong Kong

The National Anthem of Hong Kong IS in fact "March of the Volunteers" (the national anthem of the People's Republic of China) as Hong Kong is officially a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China and is therefore an official territorial component of China.

"God Save the Queen" is the former anthem of colonial period, which is no longer in use and therefore is not the current official anthem of Hong Kong. "Glory to Hong Kong" is a protest anthem popularized in the 2019-20 Protests, and is also now officially actually considered against the National Security Legislation.

Please, do get educated on basic knowledge and do get in touch with the realities of the world before you make any ridiculous statements. =] Yeungkahchun (talk) 00:30, 8 July 2020 (UTC)

Furthermore, do not classify my actions as pro-Beijing nor assume that I am "pro-Beijing" just because I edited a page to reflect factual information. I am not pro-Beijing. If I edited the Wikipedia page of Donald Trump's presidential campaign to reflect valid factual information, does that automatically mean my actions are pro-Trump?

"March of the Volunteers" is the official anthem of Hong Kong. Students in Hong Kong schools sing the national anthem of Hong Kong, the "March of the Volunteers", and all ceremonial procedures in official capacity (such as international events, diplomatic occasions, and school graduations etc) classify the anthem of HK as such. I understand why the Libertarian and Green party information should have its own section in the nominations but, Why is Libertarian and Green Party information mentioned in the lead of the article? You didn't just remove them from the lead; you blanked their nominations sections, as well. I understand the blocking admin's concern with respect to my sockpuppetry misconduct. I express that I fully want to do better. It was I that was being unfair to Wikipedia by not familiarizing myself with its guidelines and going against its very guidelines. I want to thank the blocking administrator for helping me recognize that in life we have to accept and fully acknowledge when we've done wrong, and that there are consequences for harmful behaviors, whether intentional or nonintentional. • @Drmies: This is the user's first block after a couple thousand edits going back a couple years; against that backdrop I'm not entirely unwilling to extend additional rope to this user following their apology, but I am a little hesitant. Scanning through the history of this user talk page, many of the topics here are complaints ranging from edit warring to removing sourced material without consensus. Per the SPI evidence, part of the reason why Yeungkahchun created a second account was to continue disruptive edits that they had previously made (on Jill Biden [1] and on 2020 United States presidential election [2]). Re: Copy/paste moving

You cannot merely copy and paste text from one page to another to move the article. This breaks the page's history, and is inappropriate. Respectfully, i was merely proposing a discussion of a vote on the talk page whether to use the word. I completely oppose unilaterally adding the word "insurrection" to the page before a group consensus. To be clear, I did not revert anyone's edit once the word "insurrection" was removed and I oppose adding the word "insurrection" unless there is a group consensus. I strongly oppose using the word "insurrection" unless there is group consesus. I initially added the word because I saw the word insurrection being used in the last sentence of the fist paragraph, however I see that there is no consenses to call it an insurrection therefore I regret initially putting the word insurrection. My apologies if I misinterpreted anything. A good rule of thumb is for the edit summary to be proportional to the edit being made. For example correcting a double period in a subsection probably doesn't need much more of an edit summary than to note the location and the fact that it was a minor edit (the first of which may be done automatically depending on how you edit and the second of which is done semi-automatically by selection the “this is a minor edit” option below the edit summary description). Also for example removing or adding a paragraph to the lead of a major article should have a large edit summary which not only explains what was done but also touches on the policy based justification for it. Potential superpowers

I am seeing that you are rather eager to inappropriately claim that China is an emerging superpower despite lacking any reliable sources that would fulfill the criteria.[5] You used a link from ResearchGate which only expected China to grow more powerful in 2015 isn't a reliable source. The whole website is a social network of graduates and students.

If you read anywhere on Wikipedia that China is an emerging superpower, then consider reverting the misrepresentation, because it is nothing more than a doing from a unrepentant block evading sock (see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Bryant7728).

Thanks for the feedback! Will take note of that! Although I do want to note that many sources and commentators have described China as an emerging superpower, and even as a superpower already. On the other hand, there are also many sources and commentators who have described China as not being an emerging or even a potential superpower. I do agree with you now that the page should be left describing China as a potential superpower as the debate on China's superpower status is very controversial. Unless there is universal irrefutable agreement (like nobody disputes the United States as being a superpower), the page should just remain describing China as a potential superpower. The only reason why China was categorized in its own "emerging superpower" category is that while China is nowhere near the same level as United States, China's status as a potential superpower is much closer to the United States than the other potential superpowers of India, Russia, and the EU , are. (However, this move was unilateral and needs wider consensus due to its controversial nature). China is certainly is not at the same economic development level of India and is well beyond developed than India. As the page already notes the differences of development in the potential superpowers, that is sufficient enough. The status quo of the page should be kept as it is, with India, China, Russia, & EU as potential superpowers, and not describing China as an "emerging" or "arising" superpower due to the multifaceted arguments on both sides (of endorsing and refuting the view of China as being an emerging superpower). Any significant changes however should be discussed on the talk page, and I will no longer try to the change the page from the way that it is right now.

On an unrelated note, honestly I feel the page is quite outdated and needs to be revamped. In my own view, the only countries that honestly should be on that page are China and India (Russia and EU should be moved down to the "Other Countries" heading alongside the category of Israel and Japan). However, any type of drastic changes should be discussed on the talk page and requires consensus.

@Eight96Four: Please understand that there is no animosity between us. You are not a vandal, and you have made excellent contributions to the site. I do respect many of the past contributions you have made on Wikipedia, such as the article Internet censorship in Hong Kong and the Hong Kong protests timeline articles, and also thank you for your creation of much needed articles (such as July 1 police stab, 2021 Hong Kong Charter), so with all respect, thank you. Thank you.

Areas of concern are that you should not be unilaterally mass deleting legitimate content without consensus, such as:

• information at British Columbia with respect to the 2021 Canadian Indian residential schools gravesite discoveries - important being the major sociopolitical issue news headlines of a country (breaking news headlines for months)

• beauty contest information at Miss Hong Kong 2021 - validated by the official pageant site. The pageant information is legitimate, furthermore the pageant can literally be viewed on YouTube and other video streaming sites which verifies that the contestant information is correct

In fact you are quite right, I support what you said with regards to the British Columbia page. I have since reduced the sentence as you recommended as it is exhaustive to list every event in detail, it will get too comprehensive. Each individual grave should not be included word by word. Miss Hong Kong 2021

I noticed you adding back the names of the participants with two more sources. There are multiple issues.

1. The two added sources are the same but in different languages.
2. The added sources are also not reliable. I found the website using photographs/reports from China medias, such as CCTV. So the three sources are all not reliable. It is more like a blog website than a news website. As the website is unknown, it should not be treated as reliable/independent. We don't know if the editor is paid to write this.
3. Please translate the occupation of participants back to English. We also don't need their Chinese names.
4. If you can't find any reliable sources I will revert your edits. Thank you.

On Li Zhenning

Hi, I came across this article while doing New Page Patrol. In case you miss my comments in the edit summary on why I have turned this page into a redirect on review is that the bulk of the article is about his time with the boyband. It does not fulfil the notability guidelines as laid upon at WP:NBANDMEMBER. As for his solo career, in the article, there is only one television series that he starred in, which if we are to consider as for the notability guidelines for actors (WP:NACTOR), it is too soon for the subject to have his own article. (Further more, it requires a better source than douban.) I have turned the page into a redirect instead of shifting it into draftspace or AfD-ing is because I feel that it is just a matter of time that the subject is notable on his own right (not now). Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Liz ^{Read!
