Hi ZjarriRrethues. Thank you for your work on patrolling new pages and tagging for speedy deletion. I'm just letting you know that I declined your deletion request for Add information on wikipedia, a page that you tagged for speedy deletion, because the criterion you used or the reason you gave does not cover this kind of page. Please take a moment to look at the suggested tasks for patrollers and review the criteria for speedy deletion. Particularly, the section covering non-criteria. Such pages are best tagged with proposed deletion, proposed deletion for biographies of living persons, or sent to the appropriate deletion discussion. Speedy deletion declined: Tartar Lamb (band)

Hello ZjarriRrethues. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Tartar Lamb (band), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Thank you. Salvio Let's talk about it! 00:06, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

Una curiosità, sei italiano come me o sei albanese balcanico? Ti ho scritto in italiano perchè o italiano o albanese la lingua di Dante la parli e scrivi sicuramente da madrelingua, l'inglese va bene come lingua franca punto. Attendo una risposta da parte tua

Rrì mirë më shëndetë!

Zoupan

Hello Zjarri! I agree that Zoupan is highly POV-motivated SP account. I encountered this early on in his articles, but since then he's been avoiding blatant acts of POV deletions in articles I've come across and has shaped up his style and sourcing somewhat. His research remains rather superficial, and his articles so short, that he could simply claim sloppiness or negligence rather than deliberate misrepresentation, although how magically all of his subjects are transformed into pure-blooded Serbs escapes me ;). You have certainly had more interaction with him, if you think it necessary, start a RfC or an ANI thread. On the other hand, you must be careful: the article you cite, on Ljutovid, was not even started by Zoupan, but by User:Kovac09, who also added the titles. Zoupan merely clarified the link to a source already given in the article. Unless we're talking sockpuppetry here, there's nothing to blame Zoupan for in this particular case. Take care, Constantine 08:35, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

I should have checked that but when I saw him misciting the titles on Zachlumia I assumed that he started the original article. He's started so many of these articles that they have to be checked one by one.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 08:45, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
I agree that the articles need checking; even if there is no foul play, they are usually woefully inadequate content-wise. If you have the time and inclination to check them and expand them, you'll do Wikipedia a service. Best, Constantine 08:51, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
It'll take some time since most of the articles he's started have titles that are used by a small minority of scholars of Serbia(like Petar Gojniković, whom most sources mention as Predimir). Btw this person may not have even existed. After Holevas should wikipedia expect an article about papa-anypomonos?--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 09:15, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
Why not? I think I'll leave Byzantium for a while and return to World War II... The problem is that finding neutral sources on Greece for the period is well-nigh impossible. One has to sift through a dozen conflicting accounts just to get a picture... Constantine 09:34, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
Come to think of it even the meaning of the nickname "anypomonos" is a matter of dispute. Regarding the resistance groups FH's work is quite good[1] because he published many of the declassified British/German documents without the usual polemic comments--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 09:43, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
Yes, I also value Fleischer highly. Although generally writing from a leftist perspective, he is far more sober and clear-headed than most Greek authors. Unfortunately, I just underwent a house move, and his books are stowed in boxes in a different city. Anyhow, papa-Anypomonos is up! I'll try to find more sources and gradually expand it. Cheers, Constantine 10:21, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi ZjarriRrethues! I noticed your message on my talk page regarding Zoupan, but unfortunately at the time I was unreachable. Zoupan is highly POV editor. He is deleting everything which is not connected to Serbia, and inserts Serb/Serbian/Serbia in places where others belong also. For example, see here. In this case he inserted Serbian Cyrillic, although other nations use Cyrillic. I tryed to talk with him, but without any success. Regards, Kebeta (talk) 10:06, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

You should probably take it to WP:AE if he keeps making POV edits.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 12:08, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Butting in here. Only yesterday I reverted this edit, where Zoupan spuriously attributes an expanded work of history to John the Deacon, alters the author's floruit and also shows himself blissfully unaware of the distinction between a text and the manuscript in which it is preserved, in addition to citing no sources (which there aren't). Almost like he's working from Google Books snippets and filling in the details himself as he finds convenient. (As a semi-retired user) I have no time to investigate this particular user's history, but if there's a wider pattern of troublesome editing behaviour, as your comments seem to confirm, it obviously warrants wider attention. That's why I'm bringing this up here. Hope that helps. Regards, Cavila (talk) 17:54, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

The source mentions John the Deacon 6 times[2], but there's nothing about him on pages 54-5 i.e another source misrepresentation.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 19:20, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Battle of Greece

Well, he has a point: the Battle of Greece is essentially the German invasion, and there was little actual fighting in Albania as the Greek army withdrew. Technically, the time period of the Battle of Greece involves also the Greek retreat from Albania, but in reality the Albanian front and the German operations in Macedonia were two completely different and distinct campaigns. The Battle of Greece article mentions the Greek withdrawal from Albania that resulted from the German advance, but it is rather telling IMO that it mentions nothing on Italian operations or the clashes with the Greeks in Albania. I think that the Albanian front belongs properly to the Greco-Italian War page, from 28 October to the Greek capitulation. As for the Australian and NZ tags, they are inescapable given that the "British" troops that faced the Germans were mostly ANZACs... Cheers, Constantine 16:10, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

I would agree with that if this was a universal standard but for example Talk:Battle of Manzikert has been tagged with a WPGR and it didn't involve even slightly the territory of Greece, but as I said wp tags are the last of my wiki priorities.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 16:15, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
WPGR covers also Byzantine history, hence the tag on Manzikert and hundreds of other articles. Greek history does not involve just the territory of modern Greece. Constantine 16:19, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
PS, I'll edit the lede on the Battle of Greece article, it does not really correspond to reality nor to the article it is supposed to summarize. Constantine 16:20, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
The southern Albania as a battlefield is a bit of a peacock phrase indeed.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 16:30, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
Can you explain that a bit? Constantine 16:33, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
It is a bit of peacock because it doesn't even come close to the definition of a battlefield of German-Greek clashes as Macedonia.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 16:40, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
Ah, that's what you meant. Anyhow, I changed the lede, have a look if you want. Constantine 16:42, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

As article is quite small, we will easily add part by part, and create one good version that will be the best. Please, say to the talk page will you participate, as i would really give my best to help, compromise and do what ever is needed to finally, after one year of discussion, end this on the best way, friendly and calmly. I will do my best, and i hope that you will do that also. :) All best. --WhiteWriter speaks 22:14, 17 June 2011 (UTC)

Serbian monarchs

Hmmm, it's not really that bad. A "monarch" doesn't have to be "king", and as for nationality, none of the Kings of Greece had a drop of Greek blood, but you can still call them "Greek kings". I agree that for accuracy, it should probably be renamed to "List of rulers of Serbia" or something, along the lines of similar lists. However, then it also would mean that it should include the Ottoman governors, the Kings and Presidents of Yugoslavia/Serbia up to today. Otherwise the presence of the Byzantine governors is odd indeed. Constantine 06:46, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

Aigest has made one edit that can be remotely considered as a partial revert, while most reverts in that article are yours, so I had to leave that message on your talkpage and let you know about your reverts without having to start a topic at ANI about them.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 22:08, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Skedenberg

I noticed that you rejected user:94.69.233.119 I find it important to mention it (lang-el) wherever Skedenberg's actions took place ; Greek land, Despotate of Epirus and a whole area and period. I aslo find reliable source the "Dictionarium Latino Epiroticum", Fransiscus Blanchus about his name coming, so id like a serious explaination for what reason opium was reverted. --Axhell B2 (talk) 18:55, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

Hi, i'm feeling outside your discussion about Stojan Janković, the main source of the article is the only extensive work about the person, Bosko Desnica's Stojan Jankovic i uskocka Dalmacija. -Berber, S. 2004, "Istorijski podaci o uskočkom serdaru Stojanu Jankoviću", Norma, vol. 10, no. 1-2, pp. 151-161.- is a collection of all sources of him. It claims Stojan as a leader of "Dalmatian Serbs" in the service of the Republic of Venice; furthermore none of the contemporary sources claim Stojan as Croat, but describes him as leader of the Morlach army, and being Serbian Orthodox. The name Morlachs was attributed to a community in the Dalmatian hinterlands (in Venetian proximity), and has never been used by the community described itself, but "in the eyes of the beholder"; In Venetian sources, "Morlachs" (Orthodox) were differentiated by "Croats" (Catholic), and all contemporary sources about their (Morlachs) tongue claim it as "Serbian" (in minor cases "Illyrian", i.e. Western South Slavic, or "Illyrian-Serbian"), instead of "Croatian". Stojan has a significant hero-status in Serbian history, and is richly attested in Serb epic poetry. Is there anything specific that you object with the data? --Zoupan (talk) 19:47, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Zelenaši

Please stop your disruptive tendentious editing in articles connected with Serbs in Montenegro. In many articles you attributed Montenegrin ethnicity to all tribes supporting Zelenaši based on your original research. Please don't do it anymore and correct your mistakes. Here you can check the source which explains that Zelenasi identified themselves as Serbs (Posebno je zanimljivo da su se i »zelenaši«,...., nacionalno smatrali Srbima" [it is especially interesting that Zelenaši too declared themselves as Serbs]). This source is written by the author whose work you already used in article editing and I guess you do not dispute its reliability. --Antidiskriminator (talk) 10:16, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

On Albanian images of the 1940's-80's

I asked this question to two other editors, but would you say that 1940's-80's Albanian books published by the state-owned 8 Nëntori Publishing House are, more or less, free of copyrights? I'd like to include their photos and such (they made a lot of coffee table books) in some articles. --Mrdie (talk) 07:55, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

Transcriptions

Zjarri, many thinks for the information you have left on the Administrator section opened by Majuru. Believe it or not, I've been seeking for the policy for a long time and have found nothing and therefore everything I have done has been down to agreements made with other users down the years. With most of the challenges being petty removals by IPs coupled with either a blank summary or a sarky comment (he is Albanian not Serb), it's never been a hard task reverting.

The way I have reasoned until now is this: we introduce an subject (ie. a person) when he is notable; notable generates all sorts of spellings of the individual's name when publications are made throughout various countries. To that end, it is almost certain that a Serbian/Serbo-Croat source using their own name can be found. The English media on the other hand would not generally deploy diacritics nor variant spellings of one whose name has been fossilised into English - yet foreign alphabets, transliterations and other forms still grace the ledes. So there is no question of alternative forms existing, the leading question is - when do we need them?

At this moment, I feel Rita Ora probably doesn't. She was born in Kosovo (SFRY time) but was weeks old when she left the country to live in Britain and has not been involved with her parents' land in any way other than private (visits to relatives, etc.). Clearly being from Yugoslavia has no relevance to what she is. I would never insert the Serbian name of one of Kosovan Albanian origin born in Switzerland and Rita's situation is very similar. No schooling was attended in Serbian and she probably doesn't speak it. It is as if she were born in Britain.

On the opposite angle, we have Emina Cunmulaj. Believe it or not, I was the one who inserted her Albanian name. There is no double-standard with me I promise you! Her Montenegrin name form was placed because she moved there when she was young and went to school there, rather like someone who was born there. Now of the two, I would favour its inclusion with Cunmulaj but not Rita Ora.

Please note also Zjarri that policy is universal - not just for the former Yugoslavia. Ramzan Kadyrov has his name in both relevant scripts. I added Chechen but had Majuru been from the Caucasus, he'd have objected to its Russian form which existed before my addition. It may be argued that he is part of Russia's governing system but his father Akhmad definitely wasn't, hence the assassination. The name is given in Russian based on his birthplace national language (not so much Soviet Union, but the Russian SSR itself). Serbian names feature with the Hungarians of Vojvodina; Macedonian is applied to all subjects born there and some people are even primarily presented in Macedonian/Serbian despite their ethnic names being different. Now if we streamline, how do we go about it? I'd like to know the best solution. Thanks Zjarri. Evlekis (Евлекис) (argue) 12:37, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

Use the names that appear in the sources and as an alternative add the name in the person's mother tongue.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 19:20, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
That would mean never use an external name for anybody - English if it has one followed by native name, or native name on its own if English sources use that form. Wikipedia is not like that though and there is more to the style. Evlekis (Евлекис) (argue) 22:47, 24 December 2011 (UTC)

Sanjak of Ohrid

Please find below my reply to your two comments:

  • I find all your claims and hints incorrect, except the one about Ohrid having status of kaza instead of sanjak in 1913. I provided inline citations from many sources for every assertion of the article. I could provide multiple citations for all of them, but that would be Wikipedia:Citation overkill. You are free to review the text of the article (Sanjak of Ohrid) and if you can provide other sources which directly support different information, please do so on article's talk page. I hope it will not be too much for me to politely ask you for help with adding the name on Albanian language?--Antidiskriminator (talk) 20:48, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

Userpage drafts

Why did you create articles

which drafts I was preparing on my userpage?

?--Antidiskriminator (talk) 11:01, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

I started writing Spani family before you started your draft (I had already written Alessio Span by that time) and I haven't written Peter Spani (voivode), the one you're trying to write on your userspace. You haven't noticed it but the Pjetër Spani, who was a member of the League of Lezhë wasn't the Pjetër Spani, who was a voivode in Novoberdë. The League of Lezhë member had a son named Mark, while the voivode had three sons named Alexius, Bozidar and Hrvoje. That being said the voivode couldn't have been a member of the League of Lezhë because he was too young when it was formed. Feel free to copy the origins parts from Alessio Span as they are written in a much more concise manner. Btw I'll be writing the bishop and the League of Lezhë member bios, so you can continue working on the voivode.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk11:15, 21 January 2012 (UTC) --— ZjarriRrethues — talk11:09, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
Everything you wrote to justify your actions is incorrect.
First, you did not start writing Spani family before I started my draft:
  • diff when you created your article: at 00:52, 21 January 2012.
  • diff when I created at 23:38, 20 January 2012 draft on my userpage.
Second, it is not voivode Petar Span I wrote draft about. I started to write draft of an article about Petar Span who was one of noblemen who allied themselves into League of Lezhë at 19:27, 20 January 2012 which is at 08:45, 21 January 2012. more than 12 hours before you created this page diff
What you do is another incivility. Only one in a row. If nobody stops you I am afraid it will not be the last one because you continued your behaviour although you are warned not to engage in further:"ethno-nationalist tendentious editing, misrepresenting sources and incivility or personal attacks" when administrator made conclusion about your disruptive behaviour which included incivility (to me also, which is explained under sectionThese comments are incivil:).
Your deletion of my message and your demand not to edit your talkpage can be seen by someone as an attempt to "avoid administrator attention by demanding your talk page is not posted to". I find your demand strange, taking in consideration that you don't restrict yourself from editing my talk page to which you are one of major contributors, even using it to post your messages about the drafts of articles I am preparing on my talk page (diff[5]). This messages prove that your actions were not coincidence and that you carefully follow me and my editing of article drafts on my userpage.
Will you please be so kind not to create articles which drafts I am preparing on my user page.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 12:46, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

Siege of Krujë (1466)

I looked through the Siege of Krujë (1466) article and your review of it, and (though strictly speaking it's not my business) I wanted to ask for your opinion on the last paragraph of the article. It describes the reception of the victory between Albanians and Venetians, but it lacks any info about the reception of the loss in Ottoman Empire. The balance of forces was suggesting the Ottoman victory, so the loss should have had some reaction within the country. Do you know, is it an article's shortcoming or a lack of information availability? — Dmitrij D. Czarkoff (talk) 02:42, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

There's a definite lack of information. Although there were contemporary Ottoman historiographers none of them wrote in a scientific manner and most of their works are of a panegyric nature towards Mehmed II i.e. they certainly don't mention public reactions to defeats.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 18:10, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
