Hey Waltham, hope you're doing fine. I was just browsing through Pakistani ethnic group categories and have noticed that there are no :Category:Ethnic groups in X categories existing for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan. On the other hand, Punjab, Sindh and Azad Kashmir do have categories. If you're not busy, would you like to lend in a hand to start work on that? It would also help reduce the size of Category:Ethnic groups in Pakistan and perhaps Category:Social groups in Pakistan which are way too overloaded. I can also help. Let me know if you're interested. Cheers, Mar4d (talk) 05:58, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

It's great to see you edit this page. But please could I ask for care when you do so. By removing the }} at the end of a letter section (have a look at your edit to "L", you remove the columns. It's an essential part of the column template. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 14:40, 5 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Punjab

Hi, I see you're creating a lot of articles with references to Punjab in them. You may not realise but Punjab is a disambiguation page. It would be really helpful if you could pipe your links to Punjab (Pakistan) rather than just put square brackets round Punjab. It saves a lot of work in the long run. If you need a hand learning how to do this don't hesitate to contact me. : ) Ka Faraq Gatri (talk) 22:40, 5 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again. Waltham, when you're writing your articles and you want to refer to the Pakistani state of Punjab would you please write Punjab rather than Punjab. The first will result in a link that looks like this Punjab but links to the page on the Pakistani state rather than the disambiguation page. It makes things easier for your readers. Thanks. Ka Faraq Gatri (talk) 20:33, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Articles

Please stop creating Jat articles. Something being a tribe of Jats does not merit an article on Wikipedia. Read Wikipedia:NOTABILITY and all associated pages and please stop creating articles. It just creates more work for the administrators. Enigmamsg 22:42, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Waltham, I'm Scarian (But I prefer to be called Pat!). I appreciate your concerns but I must protest that I am not vandalising anything, Sir. Please see WP:VANDAL. In regards to me deleting (Please see WP:DELETE) some of your articles, please see WP:NOTABILITY. The tribes that you have been writing about do not meet out notability guidelines. Also, remember to sign your username at the end of your comments using the four tildes: ~~~~ - And remember: You don't have to start a new subject heading for a topic that is vaguely similar. Bais Rajput

What do you know about the Bais Rajput, also, would you mind keeping an eye out for vandalism and nonsense changes on the pBais Rajput page please? —Preceding unsigned comment added by BhainsRajput (talkcontribs) 20:38, 6 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cool

Okay, that's quite okay. The thing with Bains is that allot of the Bains are confused as to whether they are Jat or Rajput Bains so just say neither. And, no, the Bains Jat have little in common with the Bais Rajput apart from the name and populations overlapping in areas. They can be suryavanshi but it is doubted as Jat is a completely different ethnic group to the rajputs and the Bais Rajput are one of the oldest of the Rajput. They may have intermarried and stuff but otherwise hardly any connection. It's just like there is a Hyderabad in India and in Pakistan with no link but the name.

As for information i would love to help with the pages you want me to, (please provide link), but a useful way of gaining information is google books. —Preceding unsigned comment added by BhainsRajput (talkcontribs) 11:19, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

~

I will definitely have a good look and try to help where I can. Try your best to get hold of that book, should be good, also a rare book as not much is written, as you said, most is oral. Maybe try searching on the internet especially google books, I will do the same. The good think about info from the previously mentioned sources would be there are references to include. Anyway, that's the problem with Pakistan, literally, very rarely does anybody give a damn about anything but wealth any more. The government is corrupt, selfish and stupid. Only God protects Pakistan right now. Hopefully one day we will have a great leader to drag us out of the midst and hopefully, one day people will have no more love or lust for money and actually care about our country and this world we are living in. I think the government does to some settlement reports but I think that's with a kick up the backside by other governments. And as for the references, I think it would be best to just stick to references, if not, write a book yourself! lol.

Jat clans

Good work on the list of Jat clans. It would be nice if there were a more current census. Let me know if you need help with polishing on articles you write, and I will be glad to edit. You might use fewer superlatives in general in your writing, as they often come across as less than encyclopedic. My subject knowledge is limited, and mostly Afghanistan and India (modern boundaries) with only some overlap into Pakistan, but I can do the primary linking and sort a lot of the 20th century Indian subcontinent geography linkages and some of the medieval and early classical history. Keep editing! --KP Botany (talk) 10:03, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I do wish I had more up to date information. When I get a little time this summer I will try to do some of the linking from the list. Still, it's useful work in this largely euro- and american-centric encyclopedia. The Indian subcontinent is a large part of the world and needs a larger presence on the 'pedia. --KP Botany (talk) 22:30, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Waltham2! I see you added cat:Jat clans of Pakistan to Jamot, but there's no mention of Jats in the article; could you add some referenced material to support the categorisation? Thanks -- Timberframe (talk) 07:49, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

(From my talk page) Jamot is a collective term for the Jat clans of the Kacchi region of Baluchistan. Although some Jamot now claim to be to Baluch, which in itself is not incorrect, and several Jat tribes have in history been incorporated into Baluch tribes.
--WALTHAM2 (talk) 18:14, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the explanation; could you add something along those lines to the article so others can see the connection? Cheers -- Timberframe (talk) 18:19, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I looked up the references you had provided but I wasn't able to find any information on Khatarmal. Sorry for late reply dear, I was totally bizy in my exams, I also tried to find that book on net and also in market, but unfortunately, I couldn't. I don't know what is written there in KN Singh's book about magrias, dear I am agree to your standard point on English language but the most acceptable history was previous one in Sindh, Panjab )some areas ans also in Jaisalmer of India, I myself belongs to this tribe.

I have also given book reference and fables of old age people in last one article.

Clans

Hi I've noticed you work a lot on Indian and Pakistani clan articles. Please please please if you come across utter nonsense like this and content which is clearly unencyclopedic and hideously ugly please please please remove it. You should have known better to remove that section when you last edited the article. I sincerely hope when editing these articles you will remove unreferenced bad editing as the state on a lot of these articles is abismal. Remove antying which IS IN CAPITAL LETTERS and Wikipedia:POV non notable leaders which are unreferenced etc and added by IP addresses who barely speak English. Please also read WP:Tone, and WP:Citing sources Thanks. Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:34, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is here to provide an encyclopedia or the highest quality. Not so it tries to keep peace with a bunch of highly dubious non notable leaders. At least remove capital letters and try to reference them if they are notable. Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:53, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pind Bainso

Sorry if my reply was late. As for your question, Pind Bainso is a Bais Rajput village and i counlcude this from solid knowledge on whom it was named after: Baba Bainso, a Bais Rajput Zimindar who first took his fellow tribesmen from the areas of Baiswara (Awadh) and Shalikot (Sialkot) to the hills of Punjab and all areas of Kashmir to trade in land and for other economical benefits.

The Bais Rajput of the Hills of Punjab and of Kashmir (all inlcluding Azad) are the generations of Baba Bainso and his tribesmen who first settled in Pind Bainso (and eventually also broke off and moved on to spread). It is basically the headquarters of the Bais Rajputs of the area.

The story of Baba Bainso and the Bais Rajput of the region is recorded in the book of Dogra Raj. (I could tell you the story if you'd like :)!)

The second evidence is the old Dhangar migration to Kashmir from which Baba Bainso was the ambassador of the Bais Rajput tribe (also a Dhangar clan). We're talking practically around the time that Islam reached the shores of India, so maybe a thousand and couple of hundred years ago! At the time the Bais Rajputs in pretty much all areas they where spread out converted to Islam. This too is recorded in books and is citable.

The third evidence is that my (now brace yourself!), Great, Great Grandad (wait, did i get that right, my grandads grandad...:S) hails from there! He himself (Baba Bagh Bainso Khan) migrated to the masses of land that was inherited by him and started a new village nearby to Pind Banso.

Lol, i hope that clarifies that Pind Bainso is a Bais Rajput village. I am 100% certain. Confusion occurs when Bains Jat (whos history is another story) claim such things to associate themselves with Royal Rajput lineage.

If you don't mind me asking, what clan/caste to you hail from yourself and where from too? Iv'e seen your'e very active in editing the Bais Rajput page and that too with information i can not dispute!

Hope that helped! =) --BhainsRajput (talk) 11:16, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 20:25, 15 June 2010 (UTC) [reply]

Muhajir communities

Hi.. I was wondering that given the fact there are so many articles on Muhajir communities in Pakistan, why don't we produce a template similiar to the one on Template:Indian Muslim? The template could be useful in outlining all the various clans and groups of Muhajirs, most of which are listed in Category:Muhajir communities. Perhaps we can outline all the communities regionally (where they hail from) whether Gujarat, Bihar, UP, Hyderabad etc. As you are largely familiar with organising ethnic group articles, what is your take on this proposal? One format request though, if you could add WikiProject tags to each Talk page, that'll help us include these pages in Wiki statistics, keep track of improvements over time, bring in supporting editors, etc. For an example, see what I've added to Talk:Sikligar. Generally you can addWPINDIA, and inside it you can put the names of any applicable states (in lowercase) like . Note that the "Pradesh"es just use their first term ("uttar", "mahya"), "tamilnadu" is spelt as one word, and Jammu and Kashmir is "jandk", but otherwise most stuff is pretty straightforward

Thanks for helping WikiProject India keep accurate statistics on the many new articles you've added. MatthewVanitas (talk) 16:47, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tampering by others at Koshti

Greetings, I see that since your March 2010 edits some folks had added a bunch of fluff to Koshti. I've reverted back to your cleaner version, and made a few minor improvements. Did you have that article watchlisted? Just wanted to let you know that I caught the POV-pushers and restored your work. MatthewVanitas (talk) 15:08, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Weigh in?

Would you like to weigh in at Template_talk:Infobox_caste#Proposal_to_remove_some_fields? Thanks. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 03:04, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rolled back Pasi (caste) to your last version

Greetings, Pasi (caste) had fallen into disrepair, so I rolled it back to your last version and did some fixes, all detailed at Talk:Pasi (caste). Just letting you know that it's back on-track. MatthewVanitas (talk) 13:52, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Varna/caste dicussion at WP:INDIA

You've done a lot of caste articles, but I didn't see you at this discussion. If you have any thoughts, your contributions would be appreciated: Wikipedia_talk:Noticeboard_for_India-related_topics#Varna_status_in_the_lead_of_articles. MatthewVanitas (talk) 17:11, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your talk page deletions

Hi, you seem almost never to respond to comments made by others on this talk page, but you do delete them. It is quite unusual to see this in the case of someone who has been contributing for a long period. Is there a reason for this? - Sitush (talk) 09:52, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

More categories needed

Hey Waltham, hope you're doing fine. I was just browsing through Pakistani ethnic group categories and have noticed that there are no Category:Ethnic groups in X categories existing for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan. Cheers, Mar4d (talk) 05:58, 11 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

POV pushing

Regarding your comment here, I have not called you a known pov pusher & have no reason to believe that you are such a thing. If you read what I said then you will see that I am referring to a Wikiproject to which someone had linked. That project was started by Ikonoblast, who is indeed a known pov pusher. Please retract your allegation. - Sitush (talk) 12:13, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
