Civil Position (Ukrainian: Політична партія „Громадянська позиція“) is a political party in Ukraine registered in March 2005 (as Mighty Ukraine (Ukrainian: Політична партія "Могутня Україна"); it was named that till 2010[1]).[2] The party did not participate in any parliamentary elections.[2] It is led by former Minister of Defence of Ukraine Anatoliy Hrytsenko.[2]

During the 2010 Ukrainian local elections the party's results were infinitesimal.[3] Civil Position gained one seat in the Ternopil city council during the 2010 Ukrainian local elections.[3]

In August 2011, the party announced it will merge with European Party of Ukraine.[4] In December 2011, UDAR of Vitaliy Klychko and Civil Position announced they were negotiating a unification.[5] However, in June 2012, the party announced it will compete on one single party list with other opposition parties during the 2012 parliamentary election.[6]

In a December 2011 poll by Rating, the party scored 2.3%;[7] and in May 2012, 2.4%.[8]

The party competed on one single party under "umbrella" party "Fatherland", together with several other parties, during the 2012 parliamentary elections[9][10][6][11][12][13] During the election, this list won 62 seats (25.55% of the votes) under the proportional party-list system and another 39 by winning 39 simple-majority constituencies; a total of 101 seats in Parliament.[14] When several of the other parties that had competed under "umbrella" "Fatherland" in the 2012 parliamentary elections merged into "Fatherland" in June 2013[15] the party did not merge with them and kept its independence.[16]
