In February 2014, Opéra de Dijon presented La Pellegrina, une fête florentine. Originally a play by Girolamo Bargagli with six musical intermedi by the most famous Florentine composers of the day, including Giulio Caccini, Cristofano Malvezzi, Luca Marenzio, and Jacopo Peri, it was first performed in 1589 to celebrate the marriage of Ferdinando de' Medici and Christina of Lorraine. For the Dijon production the company commissioned a new libretto by Rémi Cassaigne to replace the text of Bargagli's play during which the intermedi were originally performed.<ref>Jouret, Caroline (29 January 2014). The painting was created in 1912, but there is no evidence that it has been published before 1923. Nor is there evidence of when it was first published. It was acquired by the NPG in 1972 according to [14]. The author died in 1931, hence without evidence of publication prior to 1923 or evidence that it has never been published, the copyright has not expired yet. Hirtle Chart.

Sophie, nee Hartmann, stage singer, born Sept. 1, 1820 Munich, participated in the early church singing and appeared in 1836 in the chorus of the court theater. From Lenz and especially by Franz Lachner her talent was soon developed into a beautiful flower, so that they could fill the tray of the soubrette the following year. When Benjamin in Méhul "Joseph and His Brothers", she debuted in February 1837, and was not stopped since at the Munich opera, until she retired in 1878. Your beautiful soprano voice, pleasant presentation assets and a surprising versatility recorded them. From the latter gives her repertoire customer, which includes almost all of the great games like the comic opera. It is characteristic that they sang six roles in "The Marriage of Figaro" out of Marcelline all Women's roles in "The Magic Flute". Her husband is the tenor Friedrich E. Walter Channing Cabot died at his home in Heath street, Brookline, on the eighth day of May, 1904, at the age of seventy-five years. He was born in Boston and was the son of Samuel and Elizabeth Perkins Cabot. His mother was a daughter of the distinguished benefac- tor of the blind, Col. Thomas H. Perkins, the great mer- chant of New England, after whom the institution was- named. Mr. Cabot had for many years lived a quiet and retired life in Brookline and was never actively en- gaged in commercial pursuits. Both through his own family and through that of his wife he was related to a large number of prominent people in his native city. He, his mother and several other members of his hon- ored family have always manifested a deep interest in the institution. He was good to his heart's core, ex-, ceedingly modest and courteous and absolutely inflexible in matters of honor and integrity. Nor did he ever give forth an uncertain sound on questions of justice and righteousness.

Another gift of an unusual sort was received by the Cor- poration in June, 1905. It was a gift of $50,000 in memory of Walter Channing Cabot from his widow and their children. This gift is to be held as a permanent fund which will support a Walter Channing Cabot Fellowship, the fellowship and the income of the fund to be given to any professor or instructor in the general field of literature, history or art, either for life or for a term of years, not in substitution for any part of his regular salary, but in addition thereto. It is the desire of the givers to provide **an additional remuneration to some dis- tinguished man in recognition of his eminence." The proba- bility is that this fellowship and its income will be awarded to some full professor of the University whose salary will thereby be increased by the income of $50,000. The fellowship will therefore be a prize held for a long period, or for life, by some peculiarly valued teacher or producer.

His major claim to fame in Greek mythology is that he was a mortal lover of the goddess Aphrodite (and in Roman mythology, the lover of Venus). One version is that Aphrodite pretended to be a Phrygian princess and seduced him for nearly two weeks of lovemaking. Anchises learned that his lover was a goddess only nine months later, when she revealed herself and presented him with the infant Aeneas. Aphrodite had warned him that if he boasted of the affair, he would be blasted by the thunderbolt of Zeus. After the defeat of Troy in the Trojan War, the elderly Anchises was carried from the burning city by his son Aeneas,
Richmond shows us the meeting at night, of Venus and her earthly lover, the Trojan shepherd Anchises, on Mount Ida. Venus, clothed in glowing pink and gold walks towards Anchises, who awaits her holding a lyre. Anchises, clad in a red shirt, appears to cower in the shadow of a tree. The usual penalty for mortals such as he for looking at a god or goddess was to be turned into stone.

"he most famous pictorial version of the eruption theme, in addition to initiating a new school of Russian painting (fig.4). Dated sketches by Briullov place him in Naples in the same year as the premier of Pacini’s Opera and Briullov appears to acknowledge his debt to Pacini by incorporating into the painting portraits of the composer’s daughters Amazilia and Giovanna. They appear cradled in the arms of a woman modeled on the Countess Samoilova, who was also the patron and alleged lover of both men."

El cóndor pasa (zarzuela)
Sì (operetta)
The friendship of Mascagni and his librettist, Carlo Lombardo, dated from 1885 when both were working as conductors for Alfonso and Ciro Scognamiglio's travelling operetta company. Mascagni went on to devote himself to composing operas, while Lombardo specialised in operetta as a composer, librettist, and impresario. He directed the Calligaris-Lombardo operetta company and also founded Casa Lombardo, a music publishing firm dedicated to Italian operetta. According to Mascagni's biographer, Roger Flury, Lombardo "tricked" Mascagni into writing an operetta. After Masacagni had given him permission to adapt his opera Le maschere as an operetta, Lombardo proposed writing a new operetta using re-arranged music from various other Mascagni operas. As a sample of what he was planning, Lombardo produced some music from Mascagni's dramatic opera Silvano arranged as a comic duet. Mascagni, horrified by the potential "mutilation" of his scores, agreed to compose a completely new operetta instead. It was to be his first, and only, venture into the genre. Lombardo wrote the libretto for Sì, basing it on his own operetta La duchessa del Bal Tabarin and on Felix Dörmann's libretto for Majestät Mimi composed by Bruno Granichstaedten in 1911. Mascagni composed the score between 1918 and 1919 with some help on the orchestration from his cousin, Mario Mascagni.
Sì premiered on 13 December 1919 at the Teatro Quirino in Rome with several members of the Calligaris-Lombardo operetta company in the cast. The conductor was Lombardo's brother Costantino. The premiere was a great success, although Mascagni had been unhappy with the last-minute changes that the conductor had made to his score. In the ensuing years the operetta was performed throughout Italy to similar success. It premiered in Austria at Vienna's Bürgertheater on 24 January 1925, sung in a German translation by Josco Schubert. On that occasion it was conducted by Mascagni himself, who restored the score to his original version. The work eventually fell out of the repertoire and has been only infrequently revived, most notably in 1987 at the Teatro Poliziano in Montepulciano (later released on CD) and in 2002 at the Vienna Volksoper with Eva Lind in the title role. Lombardo's libretto was also used in adapted form for Il re di Chez Maxim, a 1919 operetta by Mario Pasquale Costa.

La circassienne
The presentation of Russian army officers as figures of ridicule was a timely one. Four years earlier, Russia had been defeated in the Crimean War by an alliance that included Britain and France. The war between Russia and the Circassians which forms the backdrop for the libretto was still ongoing when the opera premiered.

- Till each village has its circles,
- Every cause its Sewing-Circles...
- The Sewing Circles of Herat by foreign correspondent, Christina Lamb takes it title from the chapter in which she visits a group of Afghan women living Taliban rule in the late 1990s who formed a group to study literature, but had to disguise it as a sewing circle.
The once famous singer, Adelina Spech, for whom Adelina Patti was named, died a few weeks ago in Rome. She was in her day considered the rival of Malibran, but her sud- den and remarkable corpulency compelled her to withdraw from the stage at the age of twenty-four.

Tornò in Italia, producendosi come musico assoluto in Pavia, e avendo a collega Giorgio Ronconi.
You seem to be interested in picking a fight here. I'm not. If you want me to clarify something, talk to me politely.
