South Korean–Turkish relations are foreign relations between South Korea and Turkey. Turkey has an embassy in Seoul, while South Korea has an embassy in Ankara and an consulate-general in Istanbul. Both countries are members of G20.
History
Turkey, namely the Turkish Brigade had supported South-Koreans against North-Korean forces at the Korean War. Because of this, the relationship between the two nations is sometimes referred as "South-Korean–Turkish brotherhood"[1] (Turkish: Kore–Türk dostluğu; Korean: 한국 – 터키 우정).
Through the Armenian Genocide, Greek genocide, Assyrian genocide and the actual Turkish-Kurdish conflict and the political situation in Turkey, many intellectual Koreans have a bad image about Turkey. In 2015 South Korean Parliament Members Visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial.[2]
Economic relations
In 2013, both countries entered into a free trade agreement.[3]
Military cooperation
Altay tank, a newly military tank of the Turkish Armed Forces, was supported by Hyundai Rotem with technical support and assistance.[4]
