Instructions for using the Keeper-pedia/WikiKeeper
as written by TCari & friends

  1. Embrace the edit conflict, for happen it will.
  2. Leaving a comment for Keeper doesn't mean that it will be Keeper who answers it, although he'll try. See #1. Make new friends you will.
  3. Save the drama for your mama. Everyone (mostly) gets along here.
  4. If American, you must be a baseball fan. Doesn't matter which team(s) as it's almost guaranteed someone will razz you on it. May apply for all sports[verification needed]
  5. If you have edited here at least 10 times, you are a talk page stalker. Especially if you've edited here at least 10 times responding to another stalker instead of to Keeper.
  6. Be prepared for unexpected topic changes. "Has anyone noticed that only on this page can you begin talking about creating a Geo list and then start talking about....lets see- we have gas prices, ancestry, pants, pant sizes, mean names, weight, metabolism, obesity, and all the rest? Wow!! I would say more, but I'm about to die of laughter." --Dusti
  7. Somewhat related, you may, at times, feel as if you are tumbling down a rabbit hole...
  8. It will eat your watchlist, but that's a far more pleasant sight than drama and AfD arguments and other debates.
  9. Feel free to add more instructions/rules here for Keeper-pedia...

Sarah Palin

I hope the AIP stuff doesn't resurrect the ghost of Joseph McCarthy. Madame Governor, are you now or have you ever been a member of the Alaskan Independance Party. GoodDay (talk) 21:25, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pile on?

Just for you Keeps, I did some digging and located what might be the only essay around, to date(see: Wikipedia:NOPILEONS). Maybe its time we created a new one? Hope that helps. Synergy 22:22, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

God. Why so small??? Are you trying to hurt my aged eyes? I miss 21655. Is he still around? I'll check in a moment...Keeper ǀ 76 22:26, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I wanted to post this to the RfB, but I knew it shouldn't be done (which will immediately let you know why this was so small :> ) . I still think pileon should be updated, and then possibly sent back out into projectspace. Synergy 22:37, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
WP:PILEON. Just checking what color this is....Keeper ǀ 76 22:38, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You could always use preview for that. ;-) Anyway, WP:PILEON spells out "Pi" and "Leon", so I wholehertedly expect my own section dedicated to me, and pictures relevant to the subject.--KojiDude (C) 00:58, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Since this is the closest thing we have to a town hall, I thought I would post this here. I have decided that the life of an admin is not for me, and I closed my RfA. The discussion became nasty, stupid and venal. But that is what RfAs are all about, no? Nor, for that matter, is Wikipedia the right place for me. At least not for the moment. I am finding it to be a disruptive, sour and unrewarding experience. Thus, I am taking time off -- maybe for a short spell, maybe for the long haul. I don't know if I will be back, but if I am, I'll drop in to say Hello. Keeper, you've been pleasant and delightful. To my friends here, thanks for the fun. And as Jackie Gleason used to say: And away we go..... Ecoleetage (talk) 02:52, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Take it easy, Eco. If it's any consolation, adminship isn't that great anyway. People post stuff like this and you just have to sit there and think...now which (and whose) bowl of cheerios did I piss in to deserve that?xeno (talk) 02:58, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Update from Eco Keeper, since you are my only TPS, I wanted to come here and share a message my pal Mike sent me. I told him about my RfA and he read it. As an uninvolved outsider, this was his response:
"Yeah, I read the back and forth today. I got about half-way through before I started wondering "why the hell is he putting himself through this?" Then two-thirds of the way, I saw the a******* you were up against. What a bunch of pretentious, self-important lunatics. Yes, Wikipedia is an important tool. So friggin' what? Are they curing cancer? No. Do you know how many typos I found on 'Cancer'? Oy."
First laugh I had all week. (Someone go over and fix Cancer, okay?} Now it is back to the WikiBreak -- doing a movie audition on Friday, wish me luck. Ecoleetage (talk) 23:48, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
PS I don't endorse Mike's observation, I just wanted you to see what those in the non-Wiki world think when they peek in here. Ecoleetage (talk) 00:06, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
He's your pal, hardly uninvolved. I think I saw Keeper say elsewhere today though that RfA sucks the life out of editors. Don't let it suck the life out of you. Who cares what a bunch of malcontents who hang around what must be the most depressing forum on wikipedia think about anything? --Malleus Fatuorum (talk) 00:07, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Agree. Good luck with your movie audition. Let me know if you pass WP:N, I'll gladly write up an article about you :-) And your friend "Mike" is right. Only on Wikipedia, by the way, does "Someone go over and fix cancer" refer to adding a comma here and there. What a great sentence! Miss you Eco, be well and come back soon.  :-) Keeper ǀ 76 19:49, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.

Hey yo. One more fucking day, eh? Can't wait. But before we get to that, I need some guidance. My home girl is on a Wiki-break and a lot of the folks who troll the WP:HelpDesk are cocksuckers. Any way, I uploaded this pic and would like to know if the rationale used is okay? The guy is dead and he probably has three pictures in existance. I have seen this particular photo used on a biography written about him. I dunno where it came from, who took it or what year it was taken, but it's the best photo I can find. Can I use this for his article? I know there are a lot of non-cocksuckers who troll your talk page, so if anyone out there can help me... please hit up my talk page. Thank you. --Endlessdan 13:37, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No explanation needed about the not-rooting-for-the Vikes dealy. I have no confidence in this guy and was surprised when you didn't get this guy as insurance. And I cringe everytime I see this dude with the ball. So much so, that I passed him over in my fantasy league with the second pick. And I beg to differ... the football season never ends. --Endlessdan and his problem 15:59, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The only problem with Gig and no, nobody is allowed to start listing other problems here is that he's an Aussie, meaning he's fast asleep right now (or should be). Usually get a response in 18-24. Keeper ǀ 76 16:11, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Provided I at least get a response, I have no beef with waiting. All I got is time. Plus Kelly has been very busy with much more pressing matters as of late. --Endlessdan and his problem 16:15, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The only problem? Hahaha. You may list other problems now, for I am awake. Yeah, that image seems fine. Go for it. —Giggy 08:35, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I took a quick look at the standings. The Twins have no shot at the Wild Card (unless they get really hot, which they really are not right now), so they have to win the AL Central. They have a reasonable schedule, but that final weekend homestand would be something to see. Especially against the White Sox. Now, setting aside the fact that you have no clue about sports, and noting the the above thread you have some silly interest in the NFL, and we know how crappy the Vikings are, I'm not sure your trust in the Twins is all that reasonable. Their pitching isn't deep enough for the playoffs, and their hitting seems to rely upon a lot of hitting with runners in scoring position (which I believe is a random probability event, because statistically, good hitters hit about the same with batters on base as they do when there are none on, and bad hitters do the same--in other words, the Twins are lucky, but statistics eventually even out). I'm sure you're a loyal fan, but your team has some work to do. OrangeMarlin Talk• Contributions 13:57, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The painful irony is that the are "not hot" right now because they are on their longest road trip in the last 40 years, courtesy of our Republican friends + their new BFF Joe. As for your sentence: I'm not sure your trust in the Twins is all that reasonable, who the hell ever decided that supporting a team is supposed to be reasonable? Fan is short for fanatic, remember? Just watch, just wait. The Twins in 87 had the lowest W-L for a WS champ (at the time). If they're in, they win. The WhiteSox will crumble, the Yanks are out, the RedSox will get the wildcard. Angels v RedSox, Twins V Rays. Calling it. As RedSox V Twins, then Dodgers V Twins (yes, I said Dodgers). Keeper ǀ 76 15:50, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To quoote my brother, "But the Yankees winning helps the Red Sox" I hate instant replay. HATE. Yes the call went in the Yankees favour with asshole's HR in the 9th, but it's still stupid. How about glasses for the umps? Keeper, can't help the sanity, I have none of that myself. Two 11 hour work days and the RfA sucked that. I'm still searching for the beer I wanted last night. Let's go Yan-kees! TravellingCari 02:28, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not going to ask wtf is going on with this page today, but Carlos Quentin has a broken wrist, making the Twins the favorites to win the AL Central. Quentin was the key to that lineup and the MVP of the team. Enigma message 20:03, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of article "Good Oil"

I had just returned from a quick Google search where I'd found an article about the product on the UK Times Online site, [1], which I felt sufficiently established notability, when I'd found the page deleted. Do you agree with me or do you disagree and/or consider this issue closed? Have a nice day! Miquonranger03 (talk) 16:51, 3 September 2008 (UTC) :D[reply]

replied on your talk mate Keeper ǀ 76 19:45, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! That is the problem with this product, though. That is the actual name of the product, and it is so incredibly vague that it's almost a bad thing for there to be a Wikipedia article on it. Miquonranger03 (talk) 20:08, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You know, now that I look at some Google and Google News queries, that Times article is really the only notable source there seems to exist. Most if not all of the records on the web for this product seem to be from housewives on Usenet and the like. You can delete it, I don't think that it passes the N-test after all. Miquonranger03 (talk) 21:31, 3 September 2008 (UTC) :D[reply]
Of course! Feel free to vent whenever. That's Wikipedia for you, I suppose..."you can please some of them some of the time, but you can't please all of them all of the time!" :D Miquonranger03 (talk) 21:39, 3 September 2008 (UTC) (I hope my smilies, which are simply meant to brighten the reader's day a bit, don't waste too much time by tripping vandal filters and such)[reply]

Elan, thanks for the "it looks suspiciously political" attack, (how would you know my politics?) but that aside, you've made your case. I've restored the article, sorry I went offline and didn't respond within the several minutes that you gave me to respond before adding DRV drama. The article, and all revisions are restored, the speedy/hangon tags removed. I strongly encourage an AFD discussion to put this to rest. Keeper ǀ 76 19:24, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey 2

Hey, about your message on Ecoleetage's talk page, sorry if you found it spiteful but to be honest I tried to be blunt but concise, and civil. I wished him good luck for the future and that I may support in future, but it was shortly followed by an email consisting of insults and childish behaviour. I stick by my comment about his incivility, although I appreciate others don't have the same view. Hope all is well, happy editing! —Cyclonenim (talk · contribs · email) 17:46, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reason #4,684 why I don't "do email": If someone blasts me on email, I'll likely blast them back. Next time, though Cyclone, use the same medium. Blast him back on his email, not his talkpage - it looked spiteful. How was I to know that he sent you a "childish" email? And how exactly does your rather "childish" comments on his talkpage (and not his email), reflect on you? Just food for thought, I'm over it. Happy editing to you as well :-) Keeper ǀ 76 19:49, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Accusations against Administrators

Since you're around

Hey Keep,

Since you offered to do "crap" for me, I'm looking for a second opinion (and since this talk page is watched by more people than WP:AN, if you've left, maybe a lurker could do it). I wonder if you'd take 5 minutes and review Special:Contributions/Techman224 (focusing on the user talk pages), and the (rapidly deleted) warning messages on User talk:Techman224. He wasn't getting the message, so I left a brusque warning, and he quit editing right after. I think it was called for, due to his ignoring previous similar requests, but wonder if I came off too harsh (I think he's probably doing this in good faith, just not listening to feedback). I'm feeling a little grumpy today, I've noticed my recent blocks are all longer than my average, and I'm wondering if I'm too grumpy or not. --barneca (talk) 22:59, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm offline until at least Friday, for my own sanity. Anyone else need something to do? TCari? Irid? J.Del? Other admins? Keeper ǀ 76 23:06, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Barneca, you did bite with that last sentence, but probably not hard enough to draw blood. He/she seem to be new Twinkle users, so are probably a bit over enthusiastic. RMHED (talk) 23:33, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He is a kid in high school and he would delete my changes without even looking at them, i know that there is real age limit to who can be an administrator but i think there should. i got another administrator to help me do my changes so everything go worked out but i did tell him that if the changes would not have been made because of him he would have go pulled into court because there are already lawsuits going on and he thought i was treating him and keeper told him it wasn't a legal threat but i said it to warn him that someone else might take him to court and legally can. i think he is too young and immature to be an administrator. UM what? Keeper said what? Where? Who? You've completely lost me. I'm not aware of ever working with you or Esanchez in the past. Keeper ǀ 76 16:17, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, found it on User talk:ESanchez013. From August 1st. Replying to a {{helpme}} tag. Melissa, you need to move on. Even insinuating that someone here, an anonymous editor, is going to get "pulled into court", is a borderline legal threat, and could lead to your account being blocked until retracted. I'm not about to block right now, but that was over a month ago. Move on to new things please. Keeper ǀ 76 16:20, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like there's a disagreement of some sort so the answer is, apparently, to complain about the messenger, rather than actually trying to figure out how Wikipedia works. (The user in question is not even an administrator, best I can tell.)  Frank  |  talk  16:20, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why can he change my changes then? i am new here but her treated me like crap. from now on i quess i will just think Wikipedia makes up there own information, doesn't care what the people who are right there know and let kids make up history. block me i don't care. i wont be trying to make your information correct you can give false information to whoever you want, but that little bratt needs to be kicked off, i'm pregnant and emotional so stop being so insensitive. No need to delete your account. What administrator list is he on? (Which "he" are we talking about?)  Frank  |  talk  16:40, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Nowhere on ESanchez013's page does it say he is an administrator, nor does it say so in the userright's logs. Keeper ǀ 76 17:08, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm with you, Keep. It may be that Melissa thinks that once information is put in, only an administrator can take it out. (Not really sure.)  Frank  |  talk  17:13, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm equally baffled by this. ESanchez was quite polite, I thought, to melissareynolds, from what I've read. This is apparently, all over the 'ownership' of a ghost town in the backwoods of America. Silly, really. Keeper ǀ 76 17:15, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Now seven. So depressing. This is the last one. I will not be responding to anyone, anywhere, anymore regarding this article. It will stay on my watchlist, it should be full protected, we should f***ing get over ourselves and close the ridiculous arbcom, and we should all take one of Jehochman's mooseheads. Here's mine.

File:Moosehead.png The Sarah Palin Honorary Moosehead
I, Jehochman, award User:Keeper76 the Sarah Palin Honorary Moosehead for contributing to the protection, unprotection, protection, and so on..., of the Sarah Palin article, as indicated on this log. Jehochman Talk 02:36, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

See, apparently, the article has lots of traffic. I wonder why? A vast majority of the traffic is from POV pushers from both aisles of American politics. I'm not one of them. I'm not a POV pusher (I've been accused of being a radical leftist and righty-tighty this week). I'm a Wikipedian. I care about what Wikipedia looks like. A request (more of a desperate plea) for help came to AN for full protection to "calm the waters" of that article. I full protected it, for a relatively short time, to offer a break so discussion could happen on the talkpage. I don't need a f***ing lecture about "this is a Wiki". So what. This is also a top-ten website. I protect several pages, all the time, if they are being abused and if people are talking over the top of each other and continually reverting each other. I didn't protect the talkpage. I didn't break Wikipedia, I protected its integrity. Anyone who wheelwarred for unprotection, based on some absurd "this is a wiki" argument is rather shortsighted. I'd be very curious to know/see if any of those that unprotected unilaterally have ever protected a page, and on what grounds. This is a wiki after all. I'd also love to know if any of those that unprotected unilaterally have ever even contributed to the article or attempted to reason with the POV pushers on the talkpage. Sickening. I'm done with it. Ninth thread about Sarah Palin

Ninth thread about Sarah Palin? I'm sure the MOS says something about empty sections being frowned upon, and if it doesn't, it should... Therefore, I feel it imperitive to edit this section to include at least some semblance of text... - Adolphus79 (talk) 16:16, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(ec)No, she's Alaskan... but if you consider the history of Russia, Alaska, and the land bridge, I'm sure there is some kind of a connection that is simply being hushed up by those silly Wikipedia admins... - Adolphus79 (talk) 16:27, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

11 - 5

My boys love to win ugly. It's still early, so I'm thinkin they'll get they're mojo and timing back as the season progresses. Our special teams continue to be suspect and luckily for us last night, the Skins secondary have terrible hands. Our red zone offense also sucked. But I'll take the win. I don't understand why they let Eli throw it 35 times a game when our three headed monster is so effective. I'm just happy football is back. Especially since baseball was cancelled. --Endlessdan and his problem 16:24, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

perhaps the better question -- why weren't they using Bradshaw last night. He was getting itchy on the sidelines. Nice turnout last night, and see declaration of war below. Baseball has not been cancelled until they're eliminated. TravellingCari 16:38, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ward is the Giants 2nd tailback. He only lost that job cause of injury. For now, Ahmad is just fine returning kicks and as an "in case of emergency" back. It's only his second season, so bringing him along slowly is a-okay with me. And baseball might as well be cancelled. Wait till MLB gets a load of the ratings this year with out the Banks. --Endlessdan and his problem 16:51, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
MLB gets a load of the ratings this year with out the Banks sorry I don't speak TV, what's that? I admit, I was primarily watching the Giants last night and often flipped first to USA for the tennis, especially once I saw the 5-0 score. Love my Yankees, always will, but this has been a painful season. Ward's great and to quote my coworker, a 'Skins fan, Jacobs is "a bulldozer". It's just odd to be to watch Ahmad on the sidelines. In case of emergency, back. I like that. I liked what I saw out of Kevin Boss last night -- answering announcers' questions about where they'll miss Shockey -- I don't think they will. I'd apologise to Keeper for the OT -- but at least this isn't she who should not be named. TravellingCari 16:55, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't too impressed with Boss. He's no Shockey... at least when it comes to blocking. I really like Smith. I think he will supplant Amani as the Giants "all purpose" WR. He has fantastic hands. He is what I had hoped Sinorice would be. --Endlessdan and his problem 17:02, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed re: Smith, he's got the goods. I just hope it lasts the season. Shockey, well I liked him about as much as I like A-Rod. I don't think they need him and I think him gone is one less distraction. I know people are comparing Shockey's departure to Tiki but Eli war aside, Tiki was a much stronger presence and a bigger loss -- yet they won after he was gone. Shockey may be a net net, but he's no loss. TravellingCari 17:06, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I like the "like him as much as I like A-Rod" analogy. Don't get me wrong, I would have traded Shockey sooner if we could, but he is a far superior blocker and was a bigger concern for opposing defenses then Boss is (for now). --Endlessdan and his problem 17:15, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm so glad I could introduced you two. I'm tired of the orange message bar, and unless someone starts talking about an interesting, non-new york, non-overpaid, non-underachieving team, I'm going to kindly request this moves somewhere else?. Surely TCari, biased by her NYC fanaticism and blinded by her POV, won't wheel war against me to unblock your fine self. Keeper ǀ 76 16:46, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm all for meaningful games -- far more interesting that way. I don't know too much about the Vikings depth this year, but it would be great if it's meaningful for both. Giants are, knock wood, looking solid this year. I like their defense. I'm not worried about the only TD being on the opening drive, they found ways to score. That's what mattered.
