Hi there,
Welcome to my talk page.
I'd love to have your comments, responses and brickbats (if any). If you leave a message on my page, I will respond to you here itself. If I leave a message on yours and you reply it there, I will continue my conversation there.
My main field of work is on tree of life articles and military history.

Credo accounts
As a great contributor to Lepidoptera articles, I would like to point out this to you: Wikipedia:Credo accounts. Might be you already have access or have already signed up, but if not, you really should! Cheers Ruigeroeland (talk) 17:49, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
Prose
I'm glad to see you helping out. We seem to be finished for what seems to be the first half, however I don't understand what the reviewer means by his last comment, "what I want you to do is to read this out aloud, a sentence at a time and see where the prose can be rendered more literately," do you? Bugboy52.4 ¦ =-= 12:44, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
- Yes,I do. He means a general copy edit for rolling/rhythmic feel to the language. I can help you with that. I'm also thinking we need to get rid of the external linkspam about butterflies/moths of each country, don't you think. There are issues. I'd much rather remove them all and reintroduce any selectively after consideration. AshLin (talk) 12:57, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
hi
hi AshLin, male or female? however nice to meet you, I need help. You posted a message for welcoming me on wikipedia and now I need help from you on a dispute. By the way I thank you now for your welcoming message. Please read Template_talk:Infobox_music_festival, I try to add color on This template for better identification, but someone is strongly opposed and revert systematically. Can you help me? Say me if I am wrong as I don't want to start a war on colors Wikipedia:Don't_edit_war_over_the_colour_of_templates even if this articles is more about changing a color for another. Actually template Music festival has no color for identification, I would be sad if it stays like this cause color is smarter. Will you help me considering you are more experimented on Wikipedia. Please leave a post on my page. If you don't have the time I understand. Dominiquewikki (talk) 17:37, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

version numbers for article selection for Wikipedia for Schools
Hi Ashlin, I found a help article on version number that User:BozMo had talked about on his talk page.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Help_desk/Archives/2007_September_22#article_version_number
To just note the latest revision of the page (we'll be needing that only in max articles), we only need to copy the Permalink, it's available under Toolbox on the left pane. For instance, Maharashtra's permalink right now is this.
So, wondering if we should add the permalinks next to the topics on the User:AshLin/Work_list? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nikhilsheth (talk • contribs) 12:31, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

- You are good to go now. Everything else checks alright. Nice picture. Interesting article! I like to make an article at least 2000 - 3000 characters for my own personal goal. Then IF there are any disputes on any wording and something has to be taken out, I am STILL good. Thanks for notifying me that you worked additional on the article.--Doug Coldwell talk 11:17, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
- P.S. Did a minor fix to your hook line. Changed "alongwith" to "along with". My dictionary does NOT show such a word.--Doug Coldwell talk 11:37, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
Observation
On your jscript called "Page size", I am thinking it is giving you a number too high - which may give you false hopes. This character count tool shows text prose of 2574 and my wordprocessor MS Word gives me 2166 as a character count (392 words). I think the real number is something between 2166 and 2574, NOT anywhere close to 3541 as that may be counting the characters in the reference section (which is NOT prose). I have always used MS Word for my character count and so far nobody has disputed that I have enough characters for an article (which is 1500 minimum) - and I am right at 199 DYKs. I would use the tool above (which may be a little conservative compared to your jscript) and then you won't have any disputes IF you have enough for an article. Shoot for a personal goal of 2000, then IF something has to be removed you will STILL be good. Remember always to have plenty of references and that also will prevent disputes.--Doug Coldwell talk 13:09, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

Re:Some guidance
Just a quick note to say, don't worry about DYK hooks drifting into the "old" section whilst unreviewed. While the system has been enormously better since they flipped the page (new hooks used to be at the top), some reviewers still tend to go to the bottom of the page and find the easiest hooks first. Some people get a little scared about genome articles (I still don't review them at GA as I'm worried I'll miss something!), but in the absolute worst case scenario with no one reviewing a hook, an admin will come along and do it once it starts being there for a silly amount of time.
