Lao Airlines Flight 301

Why is a ref needed in the lede for the flight number? Per WP:LEDE, there shouldn't be refs in the lede, which should be a summary of the article. If you want to use the ref in the article, feel free to extract facts from the source and reference them in the usual way. Will you please revert your edit? Mjroots (talk) 10:29, 17 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I concur, but there's no need to wipe the source out. You can simply move it to other sections of the article. Flight International is one of the most reliable sources in the aviation industry. Don't you think the reference should stay? If not, you're free to remove it.--Jetstreamer Talk 10:34, 17 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Agree that Flight International is an excellent source, which I checked when forming the article, but at the time they had nothing to contribute that wasn't already references. Will check the source and see if there's anything new which can be used now. Mjroots (talk) 10:40, 17 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Uploading Images

Hello, I successfully uploaded the image File:US Airways E175 at MHT.jpg. However, the image has been rotated. Is this because the original image's dimensions were not appropriate? How can I fix this problem? Thanks. Sunnya343 (talk) 23:47, 19 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Have you uploaded it to Commons? If so, you can request a rotation.--Jetstreamer Talk 23:48, 19 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No, I have not. I can't upload the same file, at least with the same name, onto Commons. So should I still upload the same image, with a different file name, and then request rotation? Sorry, I'm quite new to Wikipedia. Sunnya343 (talk) 23:53, 19 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, you may ask all the questions you want. I'll be posting a question here on how to rotate your image, as I don't know the way to do that.--Jetstreamer Talk 23:58, 19 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there Wikipedians! Does anyone know how to rotate the image above? The author uploaded it landscape. Thanks in advance.--Jetstreamer Talk 23:58, 19 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I have rotated the image and have also created a version that's not so blue. If the original colours are preferred, the file can be reverted back to there. Cheers, -- Diannaa (talk) 00:18, 20 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Diannaa. Will notify the uploader.--Jetstreamer Talk 00:34, 20 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Can you keep an eye on this page? Someone keeps un-disambiguating Tehran, Istanbul, and Moscow (since those cities have more than one airport with passenger service). I have left a message at the IP's talk page. Thanks! Snoozlepet (talk) 02:07, 24 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

PLUNAs CRJ

Hey there, I did some research again and it was my mistake. Cosmo indeed bought them so the information is correct. They just never flew them and tried to lease them out as soon as they got them at the auction. Sorry for any confusion! --84.156.5.176 (talk) 14:32, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Glad to see this is solved. --Jetstreamer Talk 14:33, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there Wikifellas! I've tried to set the counter in my user page for the template above to provide a live count of my edits. Maybe (most likely!) I did something wrong, because neither this version nor this other one seems to be working. The number of edits stood at 28397. It is supposed to provide a live count, right? Thanks in advance for your time. Regards.--Jetstreamer Talk 19:34, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Jetstreamer – have you tried taking the userbox out of the boxboxtop template and letting it appear on its own? I did this on my user page and it works okay. – Paine Ellsworth CLIMAX! 04:40, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I think maybe I see what you mean – there is a very different tally on X!'s Edit Counter page than in the user box on my user page. You may need to go directly to the creator of that user box to see what's up. – Paine Ellsworth CLIMAX! 05:09, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your response. For the record, I tried to put the template out of the boxboxtop and nothing changed. Will contact the creator.--Jetstreamer Talk 21:38, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You're very welcome! In addition to X!'s page, which is found at the bottom of our contribution pages, is this global account manager. My edit counts don't jive from one to the other nor to the user box edit count. I wonder which is correct, if any of them? – Paine Ellsworth CLIMAX! 00:54, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Seems to be working now. At least, the number has increased from 28397 to 28768.--Jetstreamer Talk 17:05, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I could not see a count; I brought up your user page, even purged it to get a fresh copy, and the userbox still just read "N+ edits". – Paine Ellsworth CLIMAX! 08:05, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I can see a number at my user page, but when I visit another user's one, it happens exactly the same you describe.--Jetstreamer Talk 15:02, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Awhile back, when I kept track of my number of edits, I used {{User contrib}}. The count has to be entered manually, so I'd check the X! count and update the number on my user page. Then for some reason, I don't know why, I stopped doing it and rm'd the box from my user page. In case you haven't seen these yet, here are Wikipedia:List of Wikipedians by number of edits and Wikipedia:WikiProject edit counters, a couple of pages I found interesting. – Paine Ellsworth CLIMAX! 22:34, 3 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the tip. I contacted the author of the template that originated the discussion. S(he) will answer soon. At least I hope so...--Jetstreamer Talk 22:47, 3 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Best of good fortune to you, Jetstreamer! I'll close the help me banner for now; if you need it again, just turn it back into a {{Help me}} template. Joys! – Paine Ellsworth CLIMAX! 16:04, 4 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Freixo vs. Freizo

Hi, thanks for the reply...I understand that there has to be a policy, a referencing procedure, but I thought (and that is the principle under I work on Wikipedia) that the truth was the ultimate goal. In this particular case, I assume (correct me please if I am wrong) that you have one source that says Freizo, but there are hundreds of other sources that says Freixo. Are these other sources not good enough for verifiability? Please look at the DETA map route of 1973 (http://macua.blogs.com/moambique_para_todos/2012/07/a-deta-linhas-a%C3%A9reas-de-mo%C3%A7ambique-em-1973.html), an official publication of DETA, and you will see Nova Freixo in there. In my opinion it does not get more official and verifiable than that. Anyway, just an opinion. Keep the good work! Teixant (talk) 08:52, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for bringing this up, Teixant. Yes, I have a book from which I've been extracting all the material used in the recent expansion of the article. I've added a note that I believe will settle the discussion. Nevertheless, I'll ask you to take a look at the first paragraph of the ″Renaming″ section. There appears Moz as a city served in 1995, for which I could not find an article to link to. Can you please take care of that? Cheers.--Jetstreamer Talk 15:10, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Jetstreamer, I looked at the 1985 publication and there Moz appears after Pemba (in the article you put it in alphabetic order). I believe that the Moz indicates that the destination they are listing is Pemba, Mozambique and not Pemba, Tanzania. They have that kind of disambiguation in the Wikipedia itself for Pemba Airport. re: Air Centrafrique

http://books.google.com/books?id=kEPbRmivj7IC&pg=PA69 talks about a Caravelle plane having been donated by the Pompidou government to Bokassa (for his private use) in late 1970 as a political move to patch up relations. Would this plane have entered in the Air Centrafrique fleet? --Soman (talk) 15:47, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe that's the aircraft that joined the fleet in the late 1970s, as mentioned in the article (four paragraph, last sentence).--Jetstreamer Talk 16:03, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Aeroflot (again)

The article has been semi-protected for a year, with the latest protection implemented by JamesBWatson (comment from this admin regarding the matter I mention). The silver lock worked for the year the page was under protection; since it expired less than a month ago, IP edits started introducing unsourced changes again, as you can see from the history of the article. Does this behaviour warrant protection again? Thanks in advance.--Jetstreamer Talk 23:04, 4 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I reckon it does, at that - so I've re-protected the page accordingly. Let's see if another year off is enough to discourage them... Yunshui  13:49, 5 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I would have protected it for longer than that. We are dealing with an editor who has been doing the same thing over a period of three years, and has not been deterred by several short-term protections and one for a year, and so is unlikely to be deterred by another one year block. However, as in all cases of page protection, we have to balance that against the collateral damage on legitimate IP editors caused by a long block, so maybe Yunshui's one year block is best. I certainly wouldn't have even considered anything less. JamesBWatson (talk) 18:16, 5 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@JamesBWatson and Yunshui. Thank you both for your responses. Kind regards.--Jetstreamer Talk 18:30, 5 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@JamesBWatson, If you want to extend the protection, I'd have no problem with that. Jetstreamer, you're more than welcome; any time. Yunshui  08:46, 6 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Aerolíneas Argentinas fleet

I'm sorry, Ijust read your message. I have direkt access to this data (actual seating configurations for Aerolíneas Argentinas). The references are old and mostly refer to planes that have already been returned to their lessors. Hope that helps and sorry again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 186.136.73.80 (talk) 14:26, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"I have direct access to this data" is not enough proof to support your modifications. I have reverted your edits again. Please be prepared to add reliable sources for your changes the next time you add or modify any content. Thanks.--Jetstreamer Talk 22:00, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've reverted your last edits again, as you replaced official information with a source of dubious origin. Again, you should use reliable sources for your changes.--Jetstreamer Talk 20:09, 9 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I understand the need to provide sources for the posted data. But the data currently included in the article is clearly wrong, which is visible by just going through any of Aerolíneas' A340-300s. This notion might not qualify as a quote but should be enough to realize that the data currently posted is wrong, including the (outdated) sources it refers to and that something should be done about it. Don't you think so? Otherwise the wrong data should be deleted.--Carlos RD — Preceding unsigned comment added by 186.136.73.80 (talk) 20:30, 9 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Right or wrong does not fit here. The threshold for inclusion is verifiability, not truth. It is not what I think, but what the policies and guidelines say. I've taken a look at the current version of the official website for seating layout, and there's only one seat configuration for each type of aircraft. Furthermore, please bear in mind that Wikipedia is not a travel guide.--Jetstreamer Talk 20:36, 9 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You had a run-in with the above editor in October. The user has since added a lot of material to the Awaza article. Some of it alright, albeit lifted off another article, but most of the other stuff is quite poorly-written. Some of the material is sourced, but my Russian is not sufficient to read whether it supports the source or not. The user doesn't respond to my edit summaries explaining this, though they seemed to respond to yours, so all the better that I invite you to take a look at the article in its current state. Response to Flag carrier information

The reason I did not reference the information I provided was because I do not know how to add references, I find it a fairly confusing endeavor and I also think it was EXTREMELY rude of you to remove the reference-able information I provided on this page. The link below is the reference for the information I provided. However I am absolutely appalled by the fact that you think I should put the information back up on the page. That is so unbelievably rude of you to expect me to do it again. It is especially because I shouldn't have to do it because you didn't have to be pathetic and pedantic and remove the legitimate information provided. You are vile. No wonder you had to write at the top of this page about people making personal attacks, you're so rude. Catch a grip and stop being so rude to people. Surinam Airways (again)

@Diannaa: Hello again. This new set of edits, which I'm pretty sure is Nardisoero (talk · contribs) hiding behind an IP to continue their unexplained modifications of sourced content, shows that this editor won't give up the fight as long as the article is unprotected or s(he) gets blocked. Help!

Hi Jetstreamer,

I'm still very new to W and by no means fully confident - have made the odd mistake! But I was astonished just now when I visited the page on the MV Derbyshire in order to view it and not only had it had been blanked, but about only six minutes prior to my visit!

Anyway, I have restored it - having cursorily checked the old 'revision' and spotted no ills initially (tho' I was only viewing, not editing). I noticed that you appear to have left remarks on the 'talk' page of the user who blanked the page (if I am understanding all this) and should therefore be grateful if you could find a moment to check this - or otherwise advise.

I cannot see any 'in use' tag anywhere (not that I would necessarily recognise this). I hope all this is OK.

I also 'flagged up' this edit on the article's 'talk' page.

Regards and many thanks,

Musical Knowledge Altered

Hi there,

Thanks for the message. I have only altered music data which I'm 100% sure of, such as Roy Orbison pages, etc. I've been collecting music data since July 1960, therefore have a high degree of knowledge where music is concerned.

Someone has mentioned to me a person with the sirname 'Derbyshire'. I don't know anyone with the last name 'Derbyshire'.

I contributed to the Guiness Book of British Hit Singles and Albums for many years {you'll find my name - Russtti Gaynor - listed in many of the final copies, until Virgin took over in 2006.

I only contribute to whoever/whatever I know for fact, okay? I will back it up if need be.

Should we put the number in the table marked "in service" as when the airline actually begins flying that aircraft on routes or when the aircraft is delivered to the airline at the American Airlines fleet page? It is a matter of time. I'd tend to wait, but other editors may have added it already.--Jetstreamer Talk 10:19, 22 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

EgyptAir Ownership Status

Well, Regarding EgyptAir state ownership (@ Flag carrier), I happen to be an Egyptian, and I know it's a state owned company, never the less, I wanted to have a confirmation before adding the information to Wikipedia, So I checked the Wikipedia page on EgyptAir, and it confirmed the same. Do we really need to add reference to information already mentioned earlier on Wikipedia ? And, regarding the citation, can a Non-English website be cited in an English Wikipedia article ? If so, a reference would be A press release from the Egyptian minstry of aviation --Serag4000 (talk) 05:47, 24 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
