Hey, this is just a launch of inappropriate behavior from another editor.
I came over to a friends house to help her write an article. Ever since PRehse tried to make it advertising alone so I went in and helped her change things to turn it. We deleted his code showing it to be an Advert. He went back and changed it to showing it an advert much like CAA https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creative_Artists_Agency

I put quotes etc and took it out again.
PRehse seemed then got mad at me for taking out his "advert" code. Then he moved to delete it b/c of my edits to try to fix the advert wording.

Look, the lady's daughter was changed by the company.
She feels strongly and will be devastated at losing all of this "hard work" on her part.

I'm just trying to help.
Whatever you can do to help would be great.
Along with her and the community I think the page will improve greatly but deletion of the page is just a malicious move on PRehse part for not getting his way.

I will have editors come and improve it but it needs to be taken off the deletion list.

@Anna Frodesiak: I've finished writing the script, although it may still have bugs lurking in it. Would you like to be my guinea pig while I iron them all out? :) I've added some documentation to User:Mr. Stradivarius/gadgets/Draftify. In your case, I imagine you will want to add the following to User:Anna Frodesiak/common.js:

Hey, gave it a try at User:Superiots with options "Notify user of page move" and "Soft-block the user and leave a block notice". The dialog out said said "moving to draftspace... done", "tagging draft..." then it broke :( I checked the JS console and it reported Uncaught ReferenceError: apiManager is not defined in ApiManager.prototype.softBlockUser, the line user: apiManager.getTargetUser(). However it did in fact tag the draft, just didn't notify the user or block them. Hope that helps diagnose what went wrong. Thanks! — MusikAnimal talk 22:12, 16 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the script, Stradivarius. I have used it once, and - I'm sorry to say - it did not go well, have a look at Draft:St Michael's Rowing Club. A minor thing is: I can see the script calls {{uw-draftmoved}}, a template I often use myself but never with the third option. Let's make it clear that leaving the Reason for the page move field blank will yield the in most cases perfectly fine standard message of uw-draftmoved "This is because the Draft namespace is the preferred location for Articles for Creation submissions." If I knew you better, I would boldly edit User:Mr. Stradivarius/gadgets/Draftify, now I'm leaving it to you. Again, thanks for the script, I'm sure it will be a timesaver for all of us at AFC. @Sam Sailor: Thanks for the report! The page blanking bug should hopefully be fixed now. I think the problem was that the script was trying to get the page content of the draft page after it was moved by the script but before it was registered as having being moved in the Wikipedia database slaves. I've changed the script so it just grabs the content before the page move and uses that. And after thinking some more about the reason field, I just decided to remove it altogether. The defaults should work for most situations, and I couldn't see a good way of editing {{uw-draftmoved}} to make an arbitrary reason work nicely. I'm sorry this user is the main reason the template has to be protected. We try to talk to him, but he blanks his talk page. I have blocked him for disruption, since he edited without consensus after being told to do so by three others. @WikiLeon: Thanks for dealing with this. I don't think we need to get AN involved yet - the normal consequences for edit warring and disruptive editing should be enough. If there continue to be problems after we've tried the usual things then we can think about whether we need to have other sanctions.

@Keith Okamoto: Actually, it wasn't vandalism - vandalism is when you intentionally try to damage Wikipedia. Deletion to Quality Award

Wow, now Category:Deletion to Quality Award candidates is populated with 577 total pages, that's wonderful !!! A bit much for me to work on by myself. You should mention the fact that a one-time run would be ok in the bot request. One-time runs can be hacked in ways that automatic, permanently running bots can't. For example, if someone can generate a list of users and articles, then the delivery of the messages could be handled through the mass message extension, and the hall of fame could be generated with a programmable text editor. If semi-automatic would be acceptable, then it could be done using a user script, in which case WT:User scripts is the usual page, but probably more people watch WP:VPT. — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 09:17, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I wondered what had happened. No problemo, Mr. S – you should see the category now! At first, it had climbed to more than 25,000 entries (5%), then I eliminated the unnecessary entries, which trimmed it down to its present population of under 7,000 (1.4%). There are still many entries that will fall off automatically over the next few days, and I'm already digging in and fixing the other entries. This is the type of thing I love to do on Wikipedia, so thank you for your kind thoughts and again for your much needed help in so many areas!  Paine  18:48, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Kalathilsharath82: The automatic script that removed your external links isn't clever enough to know which of your edits were good and which were bad, so it just removed all of them. I've restored the image for you - thank you for uploading it! Before you add more external links you should review Wikipedia's guidelines on external links, and seeing as you are representing Siddique, you should also review Wikiepdia's guidelines on editing with a conflict of interest. It's me, the (former) IP hopping troll. I've decided that it isn't constructive at all, and will stop it completely. It was borne out of frustration, but resulted in some seriously negative stuff. You are right when you say that things might be different if they were handled in a different way. I actually probably do have a lot to contribute, and might legitimately contribute in the future, sans trolling.

Anyway - thanks for remaining civil despite my behavior.

Hi there. I'm glad to hear that you're leaving the trolling behind, and I'm sure Curly Turkey will be too. There is always some give and take in Wikipedia editing, as it is one big melting pot. We get people with all different opinions (although admittedly some more than others), and when opinions differ there is always going to be some friction. So I can understand your frustration, although you probably caught on to the fact that I didn't think you were expressing it constructively. I've never said that the Debito article is perfect, and there is certainly room in it for published criticism of him - even Debito himself agrees with that. If you engage constructively on the talk page and edit in accordance with Wikipedia rules, then I won't block you, and I think other editors there would be open to engaging with you. It might take some time to build up goodwill there after the sustained negativity that has befallen the article and its talk page, but it will happen if you persevere. By the way, I made my first "legit" edit today. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Synchrotron - it's only minor, but still. You might be interested to know why the change of heart from being a bit of a pest to actually wanting to contribute a bit - it's basically because you didn't get sucked into it, remained civil and handled things in a positive way, which (over time) convinced me that there's different way. Recent changes

  • You can now see how many editors are using a gadget on a wiki on Special:GadgetUsage. [1]
  • If you are using the mobile version of Wikipedia, you can now see Wikidata descriptions under article titles in search results. [2]
  • Editing conflicts are now detected when you edit on a mobile device. Before, this did not work properly on mobile. [3]

I will encourage them to address other issues that might help it be ranked as B-Class rather than C-class. @Marentette: So sorry for not replying to this sooner! I saw it last week but didn't have time to reply, and I had completely forgotten about it. The rating process is quite informal for the lower rankings. The ratings "stub", "start", "C", "B", and "A" are all dealt with by the relevant WikiProjects, which in this case is Wikipedia:WikiProject Linguistics. Usually these ratings are made by a WikiProject member who isn't involved with the writing of the article. To request someone to rate it, you would need to ask at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Linguistics. (I can't do it myself, as I wrote large portions of the article.) To be honest, I think it has been a B-class article for quite some time, but nobody got around to reviewing it yet. If you're looking for a more formal assessment, it might be a good idea to submit it for Good Article status, which is run centrally. If there are no big gaps in the content that should be covered, it should be able to get to Good Article status with a bit of copy-editing and checking of sources. Hopefully that should do the trick. I won't be running this year, I'm afraid - far too much stuff to do in real life.   • The Community Tech team is doing a community wishlist survey to understand what they should be working on. They are now accepting proposals in all languages. You can create your proposal in the small box above the blue button and click it when you're done.

Seeing as it's a table and not prose, it might not be infringing any copyrights, but I'd need to have a look at the original to know if we need to investigate any more. And no, I'm not thinking of leaving Wikipedia - my activity has been a bit lower than usual, but that's because I have real-life stuff going on that is taking up a lot of my time lately. I knew I'd forget something when I am in a hurry. Yes, the table comes copied and pasted from an older version of its source, currently at: https://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/products/compare-visual-studio-2015-products-vs.aspx Even though some values (e.g. Yes, No or 3/4) are now different from its source, you can clearly see that labels, their exact placements and the table layout style comes from the source. Maybe it helps if you look at the version before I touched it: revision 691783350 The table seems to have come to being in revision 675560219.
I am not alien to real-life stuff myself; I had to request IP block exemption to edit over free ISP connections.

@Codename Lisa: Ah yes, that is pretty clear. I doubt that it would be an actual legal problem (although IANAL, etc.), as it is mostly just a collection of facts, and probably satisfies fair use. However, there is enough grouping and ordering of the facts that there might be some claim to copyright there, so I think it fails Wikipedia's copyright policies. Given that it is a relatively weak violation I don't think we need to do any history deletion, but it would be a good idea to clean up the table to make sure there are no copyright problems. You want to hear something funny, albeit off-topic? A user called FlippyFlink had been communicating with me, and he had been using my own style of messaging. I am sure you can easily spot his saying "hello" at the top of each message (which I have stopped doing) and his "Best regards," signature (which I still do). And then, there is his word choices. Oh, God! This thing has "sockpuppet investigation" written all over it. Hehe... How long has it been since people has stopped doing that? Even my stalker has.

I hear you

Hey, this is just a launch of inappropriate behavior from another editor. I came over to a friends house to help her write an article. Ever since PRehse tried to make it advertising alone so I went in and helped her change things to turn it. We deleted his code showing it to be an Advert. He went back and changed it to showing it an advert much like CAA https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creative_Artists_Agency

I put quotes etc and took it out again. PRehse seemed then got mad at me for taking out his "advert" code. Then he moved to delete it b/c of my edits to try to fix the advert wording.

Look, the lady's daughter was changed by the company. She feels strongly and will be devastated at losing all of this "hard work" on her part.

I'm just trying to help. Whatever you can do to help would be great. Along with her and the community I think the page will improve greatly but deletion of the page is just a malicious move on PRehse part for not getting his way.

I will have editors come and improve it but it needs to be taken off the deletion list.
