Are nursing homes considered residential property for the purpose of this Act? If so, http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/chinese-company-anbang-buys-stake-in-bc-based-retirement-home-chain/article33065536/ may be of interest. Thank in advance, Ottawahitech (talk)please ping me
Repeated blanking of this talk-page
To the editor who keeps blanking this page please stop and explain why you are doing this. Are you really after the improvement of the article? - If so, please explain how blanking this talk-page improves the article. Thank you. Ottawahitech (talk) 10:42, 4 January 2017 (UTC)please ping me

Mario's been indefinitely blocked for abuse of multiple accounts, so I won't hold my breath awaiting a response. Ottawahitech I clicked on one of the links at random in the first section of this page, and it didn't appear to mention the subject of this article. In the context of WP:SYN, which precludes incorporation of this source into the article and WP:TPG, which states that article talk pages exist to discuss changes to the corresponding article, what is the point of having this link?
Any list of potential sources and references is only going to be useful if it (mostly) contains content that could plausibly be used in the article. Given this, wouldn't it make this list more useful to yourself and others if it were edited down to content related to this article? VQuakr (talk) 02:36, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
This article was created by Ottawahitech. Virtually all edits have been made by Ottawahitech. The jumble of links on this talk page was added by Ottawahitech. It is likely only useful to Ottawahitech and he knows how to access the talk page archive. If anyone is actually interested in improving this article, I suggest they start be correcting the name (it has not been a "bill" for months). World's Lamest Critic (talk) 04:17, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
- Whether Ottawahitech or anyone else knows how to access the archive is irrelevant. Focus on content and not editors, please.
- Your last sentence is a separate issue. What's the most recognizable term for the subject of this article? VQuakr (talk) 05:05, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
- Do you understand how bills are named in British Columbia? World's Lamest Critic (talk) 14:55, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
- Your response implies you didn't read the policy I linked above, WP:TITLE. The formal title of the act is relevant, but not the sole factor in determining the best article title. VQuakr (talk) 02:18, 27 January 2017 (UTC)

- Ok, got it, WP:NOTHERE. Ottawa, any thoughts on the article title? VQuakr (talk) 20:47, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
- There's no reason to be dismissive. I'm asking you a straightforward question since your comments suggest you do not understand the naming convention for bills in British Columbia or what happens when they are passed. None of this is relevant to the discussion about this talk page, but just for the record, do you understand how bills are named in British Columbia? World's Lamest Critic (talk) 22:24, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
- @VQuakr: I don't have a preference for the name, yet. For those who want to change the article's name have a look at what links here, or check the refs to see what the media is calling it. Ottawahitech (talk) 13:30, 28 January 2017 (UTC)please ping me

- REAL ESTATE Ottawa’s housing reforms target foreign buyers, mortgage debt government also unveiled tax measures to close loopholes that allow real estate speculators to avoid paying capital gains tax on the sale of investment properties. The changes follow a Globe investigation in the Vancouver area that revealed a network of local and foreign buyers flipping homes for profit and avoiding taxes by classifying them as principal residences. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/ottawa-unveils-new-housing-measures-to-slow-foreign-real-estate-investment/article32206297/
- Ottawa’s push to tackle real estate tax dodgers sees mixed response...mixed reviews in Toronto and Vancouver, where high prices and speculation are causing the biggest concerns…two of the announced changes could bring significant benefits…The first is a new rule requiring a home buyer to file taxes in Canada, as a resident, the same year they buy a home…The most meaningful change…is that every Canadian tax filer will now have to report the sale of a principal residence to the CRA…On the downside…one of the key ways foreign investors exploit the system remains. Students living in Canada temporarily can still buy a house, with money given to them, then claim it was their principal residence when they sell…the key will be whether the CRA has the resources and expertise to fully enforce the new rules…What the announcement does not address is the issue of non-resident home owners who are not properly reporting gains on the sale of real estate or filing Canadian tax returns at all…“The changes announced by the federal government include measures we have asked for, and they are welcome steps that may help provide further fairness and stability in the market for home buyers,” said Rich Coleman, B.C.’s minister responsible for housing…David Eby predicted a crackdown on the abuse of principal residence exemptions will do more to make housing affordable than the 15-per-cent levy on foreign buyers the province brought in this summer http://www.theglobeandmail.com/real-estate/ottawas-new-housing-rules-aimed-at-tax-dodgers-sees-mixed-response/article32227527/

- “This confirms the federal government is leaving local residents to the wolves when it comes to our housing market. It confirms that we have lost control of a significant segment of our housing market to foreign buyers, many of whom appear to be cheating our tax system.
- “Worse still, the government has known about this problem for years, failed to take the right actions, and what limited actions they have taken have badly failed. It is scandalous and the government needs to start treating this situation as the emergency it is.”
- Vancouver-Point Grey NDP MLA David Eby said the CRA has been asleep at the switch, failing to identify and penalize so-called low income owners of expensive houses that have avoided paying taxes.

- Vancouver home sales plummet almost 40% as wary buyers wait out rapidly changing market. Fewer people are buying in Vancouver because of rapidly changing market conditions, partially brought on by government regulation, say Vancouver realtors who reported Wednesday that sales were off 38.8 per cent in October from a year ago. http://business.financialpost.com/personal-finance/mortgages-real-estate/vancouver-home-sales-plummet-almost-40-as-wary-buyers-wait-out-rapidly-changing-market
- BNN: "Foreign buyers accounted for 3% of Vancouver home sales in wake of tax". Overseas investors made up 3 per cent of home sales in October in Metro Vancouver. slightly higher than 1.8 per cent in September but down from the 13.2 per cent between June 10 and Aug. 1. British Columbia introduced the 15 per cent foreign property transfer tax effective Aug. 2 to improve affordability in Canada's most expensive property market. The provincial government introduced this Act after many residents and housing advocates alleged that foreign buyers, especially from China, were causing prices to go up and making homes unaffordable for locals. Critics of of the Act said it was unfair to existing property owners and predicted it would hurt the economy. Some 431 property transfer tax returns, totaling $36 million have been filed from Aug 2 until Nov. 14. 215 audit files have been started for investigating if taxes were not paid. The province is monitoring home purchases on Vancouver Island, including Victoria, where 10.3 per cent of the value of transactions was due to foreign purchases. Vancouver-area home sales fell nearly 40 per cent year-to-year in October. http://www.bnn.ca/foreign-buyers-accounted-for-3-of-vancouver-home-sales-in-wake-of-tax-1.619325

- ”Provincial surplus projected to increase, despite cooling B.C. real estate” The surplus is predicted to be higher than the $264 million projected in the February 2016 BC provincial budget. However, the initial estimate that the foreign buyer tax would generate $165 million this year in extra revenue was downgraded on November 29, 2016, to $50 million reflecting the decline in sales experienced since the introduction of the foreign buyer tax. The BC Government still expects revenues from the property transfer tax to be almost $2 billion this year. A jump of almost $1 billion higher than budgeted because of real estate sales and rising prices of homes, was decreased by $204 million since the first quarter, in property transfer tax revenue projection. This is assumed to be partly a result of the government’s 15 per cent foreign buyer tax, which dramatically reduced real estate deals initially, but has since partially recovered. http://vancouversun.com/news/local-news/provincial-surplus-projected-to-increase-despite-cooling-b-c-real-estate
