How to place an enforcement request
I would like to request administrative measures, such as revert restrictions, with respect to pages that are being disrupted in topic areas subject to discretionary sanctions of WP:ARBEE. If I turn to WP:AE, however, the template is designed to deal with other users, not with pages. Any suggestions how and where I could file my request?--Assayer (talk) 15:33, 4 November 2019 (UTC)

Need help with a person edit warring and vandalizing this article

Need help with this page and a person who is obviously edit warring and vandalizing it with false information. Check the revision history, this is a competitor and false information. How do we get it resolved?

Please help! They are abusing this system! — Preceding unsigned comment added by JAnacortes (talkcontribs) 07:49, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I see no vandalism there. Please see Wikipedia's definition of vandalism: it does not mean "expressing an opinion that I disagree with". From the revision history, I see that you, JAnacortes, have repeatedly removed referenced content, and have not discussed your reasons on the talk page. CJ Hopkins

Hi, CJ Hopkins, subject of one of your pages here ... writing to request that someone objective review my page, "CJ Hopkins". It appears that one of your editors (Grayfell) had an argument with one of my readers who was trying to insert a quote from one of my pieces on the "Identity Politics" page, which led Grayfell to passive aggressively edit "CJ Hopkins". This is petty and childish. I appreciate having a Wikipedia page, but I would hope that Wikipedia is not a platform for its editors to pursue their personal grievances at other's expense. At the moment, "CJ hopkins" bears a notice suggesting that it was created or extensively edited by me. It was not. I have made minor revisions over the years, but I did not create the page, nor have I extensively edited it. Please review the page and correct this misrepresentation. Thank you in advance, CJ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.91.246.197 (talk) 08:04, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I currently have no opinion on the contents of the article, but anything you or your reader wants to accomplish with this article must fit within the policy Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. Anything that falls outside that (and other policies) will be changed or removed in the long run. If you have suggestions for content (with WP:RS), start with suggesting them at Talk:CJ Hopkins. What is a redirect page?

I have been waiting a few months for review of a new page that i wish to publish. Status says that it can take 8 weeks or more and it has been almost 4 months now it is also saying it is a redirect page - what does this mean? Please help! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lidia.obseva (talkcontribs) 10:12, 1 November 2019 (UTC) I have been waiting 4 months. Is this normal? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lidia.obseva (talkcontribs) 10:13, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

• Lidia.obseva As noted in the yellow notice at the bottom of your draft, there are over 3300 drafts awaiting review by volunteer editors, who do what they can when they can. Drafts are reviewed in no particular order, so you will need to be patient. You can spend the meantime continuing to improve the draft.
I see based on your username that you are affiliated with the company you are writing about. You will need to review and formally comply with the conflict of interest and paid editing policies; the latter is a Wikipedia Terms of Use requirement of paid editors/employees of article subjects and mandatory. 331dot (talk) 10:17, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
• The 'redirect' exists because the page was moved from your sandbox to Draft:ObsEva SA as this is the preferred location for AfC pages (new submissions). Page moves will typically leave a redirect and moves (renames) have to be done per WP:MOVE to avoid breaking links and to preserve the edit history. Posting an article about a person

If I post an article about myself, will it stand, or will it be deleted? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.185.151.192 (talk) 11:50, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It will probably be deleted. See WP:PEOPLE, Help:Your first article and WP:Conflict of interest. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:25, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

1. Can I link to another section in the same Wikipedia article? That is, if I have a section titled "Washington Nationals baseball team" can I have a hyperlink earlier in the same article that says "Washington Nationals" that links to the section I mentioned that exists in the same article? I have read your page on linking but it seems to generally apply to linking between Wikipedia articles not so much having links that direct you to content within the same article.

2. My second question is whether the table of contents sections within a Wikipedia article that allows people to navigate to specific sections within the same article are created by Wikipedia or by people who are editing the page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.85.157.17 (talk) 15:30, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I can partially answer this question. The Table Of Contents is automatically generated by the software, but can be repositioned using a magic word MoonyTheDwarf (Braden N.) (talk) 15:31, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As for adding a link to a particular article section, simply add a link formatted as such: Article Title#Section Name Jeb3Talk at me hereWhat I've Done 15:34, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The part that you missed when you read the page on linking is MOS:SECTIONLINKS. --David Biddulph (talk) 15:57, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

CJ Hopkins

Hi, CJ Hopkins again ... apparently, requesting that someone objective review the CJ Hopkins page was a mistake on my part.

Your editors seem to be going to town on the page, with a vengeance. They have now revised the lead paragraph to make it suggest that my plays, or "I" have somehow "appeared" in various online publications (where my political satire and commentary, not my plays, has appeared), which makes no sense. ("CJ Hopkins is an American playwright, novelist, and political satirist. He has appeared in ColdType, The Unz Review, OffGuardian, CounterPunch and other publications.")

In fact, my plays have been produced and have toured (yes, there is a difference), internationally, not "globally," as is clearly referenced in the press articles cited on the page, and as was clear on the page until your editors starting aggressively deleting copy. Perhaps an editor with basic knowledge of the theater, and without an axe to grind, could have a look the CJ Hopkins page.

And maybe someone could add a separate paragraph about my political satire and commentary, and connect the references to those publications to that paragraph.

Many thanks in advance, and all best wishes ... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.91.246.197 (talk) 16:08, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Like I said above at Wikipedia:Help_desk#CJ_Hopkins, feel free to suggest improvements at Talk:CJ Hopkins. That is the place to discuss that specific article. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 16:33, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Problem about language selection

Is it possible to write an article in more than 1 languages i.e: some of the contents in Urdu and some of the contents in English... any Clue??? I (Redacted) is very thankful to you — Preceding unsigned comment added by 103.255.6.98 (talk) 17:01, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No, articles in this English-language Wikipedia are written in English, except perhaps for short quotations, newspaper headlines and such like, which are sometimes given in their original language. You may be looking for the Urdu Wikipedia. -- John of Reading (talk) 18:24, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

About Media

Hi Is it possible to add video media into the article...??? any clue??? I (Redacted) very thankful to you — Preceding unsigned comment added by 103.255.6.98 (talk) 17:05, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

To upload videos, you must have an account. If you just want to include something already uploaded, type . Hope this helps! Awesome Aasim 20:12, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
But, as with images, there are usually copyright issues. The video must be released under a licence which allows anybody to reuse it for any purpose. If you own the copyright to the video, you can license it appropriately as you upload it; but if not, the copyright owner must either publicly release it (eg by a statement on their own website), or must follow the procedure in donating copyright materials. Most videos you find on the web cannot be used in Wikipedia. --ColinFine (talk) 22:23, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

confused about procedures - HarryDFreedman

I have started writing my user profile in Wikipedia in the 3rd person. I haven't published it yet because I want to be sure I’m doing this correctly and I see some other profiles of people where it seems like they’re not following the rules. I checked out one profile where this note appears.

This article contains content that is written like an advertisement. Please help improve it by removing promotional content and inappropriate external links, and by adding encyclopedic content written from a neutral point of view. (March 2017) (Learn how and when to remove this template message) The person had almost every link going to another page on wikipedia with a few exceptions.

A lot of the information in my initial draft has statements I can’t fully prove by outside links. For example, I have a full page profile in the NY Times in 1993. The NY Times doesn’t have my name when I search but I have a pdf copy of the actual article on my website. I have opened as a comedian for many people who went on to become famous. I have no way to prove this but it’s the truth. I have written for a number of publications but most are from a long time ago. I have performed for a lot of top companies. I have testimonials letters from some of them and even videos from some of them but can’t find anything on their websites to show I did this. (some are up to 30 years ago) I performed above the NY Stock Exchange. I have a pdf with a photo of this but again, no other proof. So I was wondering what I should do? If I take out everything that I don’t have outside links from the original companies, shows, etc, my bio will be very very short. On the other hand, if I leave them in and link to videos or pdfs that prove what I did in some cases but link back to Wikipedia as I’ve seen other people do, what affect does that have on my profile. — Preceding unsigned comment added by HarryDFreedman (talkcontribs) 19:05, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

HarryDFreedman Wikipedia does not have "profiles", it has articles. Please read the autobiography policy for some important considerations when attempting to write about yourself. In order for you to merit a Wikipedia article, you must meet Wikipedia's special definition of a notable person as shown with independent reliable sources, sources unaffiliated with you. Those sources do not need to be online, they only need to be publicly accessible. Sources in your private possession or sources that are affiliated with you are unacceptable for establishing notability. If you truly feel that you meet the criteria for a Wikipedia article, you should let independent editors write about you. 331dot (talk) 19:16, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
HarryDFreedman If instead of an encyclopedia article, you meant by "user profile" that you were composing text to place on your User page (which doesn't yet exist but which you can easily create), please be aware that one's User page is intended only to describe one's current and future intended performance as a Wikipedia editor.
While it is acceptable to mention on one's User page areas of particular interest, expertise or knowledge that might be relevant to one's Wikipedia editing, and a degree of context such as one's age, background and locality (though these are not in any way required), it is expressedly not the place to put any form of resumé, CV or pseudo-article biography: attempts to do so will be interpreted as Promotion, which is specifically contrary to Wikipedia's most basic principles, will (or should be) quickly deleted, and if persisted with might result in an outright ban.
I don't want to sound censurious or unfriendly, because that might not have been your intention, but many new users misunderstand this, and waste hours of their efforts (and others' time in clearing up after them) by attempting to post User page matter that Wikipedia deems completely unacceptable. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 2.122.179.237 (talk) 21:12, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Bookmark or Reading List or Save for Later?

I would really like to see a feature that allows for bookmarking, or creating a reading list, similar maybe to YouTubes "Watch Later" feature. How do I formally propose this feature, or support a similar extant proposal?

And, more generally, is there a place for GUI or user experience suggestions? All my searches for 'improve Wikipedia', etc, return content from articles -- not about improving the webpage or user interface.

Thank you.--Kalamanci (talk) 20:16, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I would suggest that WP:VPT may be a better place for this question. (although one thing you could do is simply create a subpage in your user space with such a list, or watchlist all pages you wish to read later and you can always use the "view raw watchlist" feature to see the complete list)
As for searching, unless you preface your search with "Wikipedia:" you are going to get article-based results. Pages are divided into "namespaces" and all the behind-the-scenes stuff is in the Wikipedia namespace, i.e. this very page. Beeblebrox (talk) 21:08, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If you click the magnifying glass at the right in the searchfield (btw I'm on a laptop), you get a searchpage where you can choose which namespaces to search in. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 22:17, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox officeholder help

If anyone is knowledgeable with using Infobox officeholder, I am having some trouble in Jedediah Sanger. The documentation shows how to use it for a particular office. But in this case, the subject was in multiple offices. His terms as New York State legislator are under a US House of Representative header instead of the State Legislature. MB 02:42, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It seems to be something to do with the |district3= and |district4= parameters defaulting to U.S. Congressional districts. If you remove those parameters the "U.S. House of Representatives" text goes away, but you also lose the name of the district. I expect it is possible to keep the district names, but I don't know how. You may be most likely to get an answer at Template talk:Infobox officeholder. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 14:22, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Changing the Title of the Wikipedia Page

This is in regard to the change in title of the Wikipedia Page for Actor Raqesh Bapat. The page currently has the title 'Raqesh Vashisth' which we would like to change to 'Raqesh Bapat'.We kindly request you to guide through the process. Please check the page link attached below.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raqesh_Vashisth  — Preceding unsigned comment added by Raqesh Bapat (talkcontribs) 08:38, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The references, on average, seem to disagree with your preferences, but perhaps there is some good reason for the change? See WP:COMMONNAME. Why do you refer to yourself as "we"? An account may be used only by one person. The change of title will need to be done by a "move" to the new title. See Wikipedia:Moving a page for details. Dbfirs 09:30, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Other editors do not think this should be changed, so leave things as they are until you have a clear WP:Reliable source for the name change. Dbfirs 11:51, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

President's pronoun

Why is the pronoun 'he' used when referring to the President of the U.S.? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Loriap29 (talkcontribs) 12:37, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Instead of what? We don't refer to people by "his excellency" or other honorifics. – Thjarkur (talk) 12:41, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Loriap29: Perhaps you're referring to an instance where the role of president, or an unspecified person in that role, is referred to as "he" rather than "he or she" or similar? Per Wikipedia's manual of style we should use gender-neutral language wherever possible, but you'd have to let us know which article you're referring to in order for it to be fixed (or alternatively, since anyone can edit most Wikipedia articles, you can fix it yourself). – Arms & Hearts (talk) 13:30, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I may be wrong now, but I think the US constitution does that. "He Shall, from Time to Time...". That is of course no reason WP should necessarily do the same. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 14:37, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

So far all the US Presidents have been men so in all historical articles "he" must be correct. In articles about the Presidency itself- eg the powers of the President, then "he or she" or "the President" are probably better, but this may get wearing with repetition.Spinney Hill (talk) 14:59, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's academic, really, until/unless Loriap29 lets us know if there's a specific instance that's concerning them. There don't seem to be any such uses in the President of the United States article. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 15:10, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Creating an article

I am thinking about creating an article about Sam Tinnesz. I am aware of this page: H:YFA, but can you check to see of they meet the subject specific notability criteria at WP:SINGER? In other words, I'm asking if this is an OK subject to create an article about. Please ping me in your response. Interstellarity (talk) 19:21, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Interstellarity, If you can find 3 pretty good sources that discuss him in detail, you should be good, as that would allow you to probably pass the WP:GNG, or SINGER #1. In terms of the more specific ones, I'm gonna ask you to do some footwork here. What has he done? How many albums? How did they sell? Who has reviewed his music? Has he been written about? Any awards? If you can give me the 3 best sources you find, I'll give you a better verdict. Captain Eek Edits Ho Cap'n! 21:45, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
CaptainEek, I did a Google search here and I think I get mostly unreliable sources such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and Fandom. I found this source that talks a little bit about him. Any thoughts on whether I should use this source? Interstellarity (talk) 22:47, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Interstellarity, Genius is not a reliable source, merely an aggregator/fan site. What is really needed is things like news articles, coverage in magazines, articles, etc. Captain Eek Edits Ho Cap'n! 22:51, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
CaptainEek, I couldn't find any of that. Based on my understanding, it seems like this isn't the best choice to make an article on. Do you agree? Interstellarity (talk) 23:07, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Interstellarity, Yeah, probably not the best topic right now. But, keep an eye out. Some folks who aren't currently notable may become notable. People become famous all the time! Their next album could be a big break, and then it might be the right time to make them an article. Don't be disheartened, and why not work to instead expand an existing musician stub. Or heck, a stub of any kind. There are literally millions of stubs on articles that are notable, but often with only a sentence to their name. These articles could use a discerning editor like yourself to fix 'em up. Captain Eek Edits Ho Cap'n! 00:00, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

PAGE CREATION

How can i create a page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Baran Ahmet (talkcontribs) 04:21, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Baran Ahmet: Some useful links have been left at your talk page. Please sudy them carefully, especially the link to writing your first article together with the notability guide. You should begin your draft via the article wizard and submit it for review when you think it is ready. You will need to gather as much information as you can in reliable sources which cover the subject in-depth. Cite these inline, as detailed at WP:REFB, to support statement in the draft. At review, experienced editors will provide feedback on where improvements are necessary.
Please do not ask the same questions in multiple locations or wite in all-caps and (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this: ~~~~. Hello, IP user. It would help if you would tell us which of our six million articles you are talking about. In any case, this is the encyclopaedia that anybody may edit, so if you have reliable published sources for the information, you may add it to the article. (The worst that can happen is that somebody disagrees with your edit, and reverts it. Then you can start a discussion with them: see BRD). --ColinFine (talk) 16:07, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Can anyone help with this?

Help needed to correct errors

In the page entitled 'History of Valencia' it says, "Valentia was a typical Roman city in its conception, as it was located in a strategic location near the sea on a river island crossed by the Via Augusta, the imperial road that connected the province to Rome, the capital of the empire." There is absolutely no way that this is correct. Several reasons. Valencia or Valentia as the Roman city was called was first settled in 138 BCE. The Via Augusta was the named for Augustus who reigned in Rome between 16 January 27 BC and 19 August AD 14 and the roadway Via Augusta was constructed between 8 BCE and 2 BCE and.

In addition, according to the this webpage: https://whc.unesco.org/archive/websites/valencia/us/city/pgs/cit.history.htm and also this webpage: https://www.britannica.com/place/Valencia-Spain, both of which quote the Roman historian Livy (or Titus Livius) a Roman historian who lived before Florus, Valencia was founded by former solidiers who fought with the Lusitanian leader Viriathus following their leader's death by Roman treachery.

While logically it might make more sense that Valencia was settled by Roman soldiers as suggested by Florus, the fact that Livy writes that it was settled by former soldiers of Rome's enemy makes some sense as it would have given these enemy soliders land in an area somewhat distant from their homelands in Lusitania. Perhaps both ideas need to be written down.

I don't know how to correct these errors. Please advise, step by step, what needs to be done. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AkilinaL (talkcontribs) 13:01, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Can u reset it to new — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brianerhardt41 (talkcontribs) 14:40, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Brianerhardt41: I'm afraid that if you want anybody to help you, you'll need to be more explicit about what you need. What is the "everything" that your ex fooled with? If it's something to do with Wikipedia then we might be able to help (though I'm not sure what they might have fooled with in Wikipedia). If it's nothing to do with Wikipedia, then we can't help here - this is a page for answering questions about editing Wikipedia, nothing else. If it's something on your computer, then it's possible that the guys at the computing section of the Wikipedia Reference Desk might be able to help - but, again, you'll have to be more precise about what is broken. --ColinFine (talk) 16:24, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Wikipedia does not seem to have an article about the TV film based upon the Agatha Christie book. Wikipedia has an article (as now shown in the heading) about the book itself. The character is mentione in the changes between the book and the TV production. Adding "svg made with Inkscape" template

On a Wikimedia Commons picture (see File:Apple logo black.svg) I see an infobox that says, "this text-logo was created with Inkscape". How do I include it in my own picture? SemiDiaphanous (talk) 18:56, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

SemiDiaphanous. See commons:Help:Inkscape#Tagging Inkscape files. By the way, you can Wikilink to images without actually displaying the image by using an initial colon, so :File:Apple logo black.svg displays as File:Apple logo black.svg. --ColinFine (talk) 21:06, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Great Wall navigation page

The above template gives the sense that the Great Wall is a long east to west line but as can be seen from the diagram in this link chinahighlights.com/greatwall/map.htm there were several branches of the Great Wall. Principally, there was an Outer Great Wall (the main line), Inner Great Wall (a shorter east-west line), and a spur along the Hebei/Shanxi. These terms are taken from a book on the Great Wall The Great Wall of China 221 BC–AD 1644. Is there anyway to organize the links as a diagram rather than misleading straight line?

• Inner (from east to west): Juyonggu - Pingxing - Yanmen - Guangwu
• Hebei/Shanxi border spur: Niangzi Pass
• Outer: All the other links in the diagram

I have no idea how to technically implement this so that is why I'm bringing it up at the help desk. Greatvictor999 (talk) 20:02, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The discussion should be at the template talk page, not here at the help desk. --David Biddulph (talk) 20:13, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I am asking for technical help so I believe this the appropriate place. I don't think you are being helpful and ask you not to respond further. Greatvictor999 (talk) 21:02, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It is possible to use a route diagram as a navigation template, Greatvictor999, and this is often done for railway lines; see, for example Template:East Coast Main Line diagram. This appears to be built on Template:Routemap: I don't know if it will generate anything appropriate or not. I think David Biddulph's concern was that you shouldn't consider such a major change to a template without discussing it first. --ColinFine (talk) 21:18, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The navbox is just a simple collection of articles about the wall, it's maybe not the necessary to have a detailed diagram. You could maybe add groupings such as here:

It's also possible to have deeper groupings.

"Action throttled"

Hello, I've been doing a lot of article assessments, and I've come across a page that says, "Action throttled". Why does this happen, and are there any tips to avoid it in the future? Thanks, SemiDiaphanous (talk) 19:23, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This only happens because your account is new, it's to prevent vandals and bots from causing too much damage quickly. When you become autoconfirmed (which happens automatically for you in 3 three days), you should no longer be subject to throttling. – Thjarkur (talk) 23:28, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

At H:EXCLUDE, it says that using a - or a ! will do the opposite of a search thing. However, a search for !incategory:"Democracy Index rating template users" finds things that are in the category, rather than not.

Self Promotion Page

I think this person either wrote their own Wikipedia “bio” page, or had someone else write it for them because:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felix_Pfeifle

1. It has no outside references except to their own work & business. For example, no articles have ever been written about this person.

2. There is nothing of societal worth on there about this person’s achievements outside of an average person who studied something. Many other people have been given more awards, etc, and have no Wikipedia page.

It struck me as very fishy after I looked at it (by chance). Maybe someone can look into it, because using Wikipedia to advertise yourself seems pretty bad. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.90.201.45 (talk) 03:07, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Live Edits vs Deleted Edits

I was peering at the edit counter and noticed that many, many of my edits (roughly 1,600) have been deleted. I'm vaguely curious what's in there, if it was something that comes with now-abandoned AfC entries, or something of the sort. I don't know the extent to which it can be shared since "The action you have requested is limited to users in one of the groups: Administrators, Oversighters, Researchers, Checkusers."

If that info can be divulged, I'd love to know. hewhoamareismyself 05:29, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, hewhoamareismyself. The main source of deleted edits is edits you have made to pages which have subsequently been deleted: for example, if you nominated a page for deletion (that was an edit) and the deletion then happened. I suspect that if an edit of yours is suppressed by oversight (for example because it was to an article which contained personal or libellous information, subsequently suppressed by an oversighter), then it will count as a deleted edit as well, though I am not sure. --ColinFine (talk) 09:59, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Hewhoamareismyself: Nearly all your deleted edits are in 2011–2015 from declining AfC submissions which were later deleted. Your only deleted edits since 2015 are two from proposing deletion of Rapport Leadership International. You have 40 deleted mainspace edits. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:23, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

How to protect my article

Hi, Im Kuno Becker and I have been subject of vandalism in my article, how can I protect it so I would be the only one allowed to edit it? I can send you my ID as proof of Im really am Kuno Becker

Thanks Kuno — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dobermanproducciones (talkcontribs) 05:38, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The last edit to the article Kuno Becker by anyone other than you was the beginning of July, and that was not vandalism, so any vandalism is not a recent issue. It does not appear to require protection, and we certainly will not protect it so that only you can edit it. The article is about you, it's not your article. It's not a good idea to edit an article about yourself. Please read WP:COI. You can fix any obvious vandalism but for anything else you should request changes on the article's talkpage. There is a clear response in the pink box at the top of User:Gerard-Odonovan/sandbox.   Maproom (talk) 08:21, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Gerard-Odonovan. I'm afraid that, like many people, you are confusing Wikipedia with social media, or a business directory. It is neither. It is an encyclopaedia, which contains neutrally-written articles based almost exclusively on reliably published independent sources about the topic. If there are several places where people who have no connection with O'Donovan, unprompted by him and his associates, have chosen to write at some length about him and been published somewhere with a reputation for editorial control and fact checking, then there could be an article about him. It would not be his or your article, you would be strongly discouraged from editing it directly, and almost none if its content should come from him or you.
One other point: the language you use above suggests that you are not in fact O'Donovan, but that this is a shared account belonging to a company. There are several things wrong with this: 1) all accounts must be individual: role or shared accounts are not permitted. 2) You should not use somebody else's name for an account. If you wish to edit Wikipedia you should create a personal account (you can use a pseudonym, it doesn't have to be your real name, but it mustn't be somebody else's name). If after research you believe that there is enough published material about O'Donovan, wholly independent of him and his associates, to establish that he is notable by Wikipedia's standard; and you decide to try the really quite difficult task of creating a new article, (made much more difficult by your conflict of interest), then you need to make the necessary declarations of conflict of interest and (assuming it applies) of paid editing, and you should start by reading your first article. --ColinFine (talk) 10:16, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Strikethrough filling entire article

I just made a request of at RfPP but then decided to redact it. When I tried to use strikethrough it struck the entire article even though I closed the section. Why is this? Curved Space (talk) 08:41, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Curved Space: Sometimes when you do that sort of formatting across multiple indented lines, it goes ker-phlooph. Tacking a second closer on there appears to help in the preview mode for some reason. Ian.thomson (talk) 08:47, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If you add a newline before the </s>, it closes correctly. This has something to do with MediaWiki's HTML processor when it tries to clean up a elements starting at different nesting points, like cleaning up the misaligned brackets in "1 + {(2 + 3} + 4)". It doesn't try to match after three indendations (":::"). – Thjarkur (talk) 10:29, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Each image is different. As long as its for personal use only, you don't need any permission. If you intend to use it for something else, it depends on the image, as not all images use the same license. Jeb3Talk at me hereWhat I've Done 13:43, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
