Please offer your thoughts

I would appreciate comments and suggestions on any contributions I make. I am learning.Cullen328 (talk) 03:22, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work on Jules Eichorn. He's been needing an article for a while.   Will Beback  talk  06:28, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If I may suggest, now that you've posted the Eichorn article the draft below might be deleted. It's your talk page to do with as you like, but it's a bit hard to edit around.
As for formatting and pictures, a good way to learn is to look around at other articles to see what you think looks best. It can be helpful to break up long blocks of text into subsections. Perhaps it'd be possible to split the biography into two or three eras. Other than that, the formatting is usually kept fairly plain. As for photos, it's easy to upload them: the trick is in finding photos with appropriate licensing. If you have any personal photos then those'd be fine. There are might be pictures of the peaks he did first ascents on in the Wikicommons. File:Cathedral Peak.png is a so-so pic of Eichorn Pinnacle.
As before, feel free to ask if you have any questions. There are several editors here who are mountaineers or just admirers of the Sierra, so you're in good company.   Will Beback  talk  21:13, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
PS: Many editors create "sandbox" pages for drafting articles. For example, User talk:Cullen328/Sandbox.   Will Beback  talk  00:17, 1 August 2009

Your climber biographies

Hey Jim, just wanted to say welcome and thanks for your contributions to the Sierra Nevada climbing history articles. You're filling a niche that's been missing here, I look forward to working with you. --Justin (talk) 11:54, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'll second that. Nice work on Allen Steck and welcome to Wikipedia. I don't know who you are planning to write up next but if your taking requests I think Peter Croft (climber) could really use a page. If you ever have any questions please ask. Thanks again for your great additions.--OMCV (talk) 02:25, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Justin and OMCV. I am beginning work on Tom Frost and Glen Dawson. Comments on Norman Clyde would be welcomed. I will defintely read up on Peter Croft, OMCV. I am still "learning the ropes" in Wikipedia, to use a climbing analogy, and have all sorts of things in mind. My biggest challenge right now is getting permission to use images. My next biggest challenge is hiking to the top of Mt. Whitney with my wife in ten days - she's never been above 12,000 feet except for the train ride up Pikes Peak. As she's 56 and developing arthritis in her toes, it will be an accomplishment if she (and I) complete the Class 1 feat. Jim Heaphy (talk) 02:34, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

draft Ricardo P Lloyd

Hi Jim I know your experienced with Wikipedia. Please help get Article Ricardo P Lloyd approved it is still in drafts. All relevant information and sources are there. Johnbary129 (User talk:Johnbary129lk) 16:16, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Johnbary129. Your draft does not convince me that this person meets the notability guideline for actors. The references are a mess. Please read Referencing for beginners and clean them up. External links do not belong in the body of the article, and should be removed. Much of the content is unreferenced and should be removed unless it can be verified. Your first article should be useful, but your biggest challenge is to demonstrate that this person is a notable actor. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 17:36, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Remove protection of Aimee Challenor article

Right now the article is a mess. I've worked on several controversial topics and I have never seen this level of protection. Requesting edits is the most cumbersome way to get an accurate article, semi-protection gets rid of 90% of trolls and BLPers, and we can easily revert unsourced claims. I don't see any consensus building attempts, I just see random requests approved by admins WP:OWNing, contrary to all Wikipedia standards. --Loganmac (talk) 04:13, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Loganmac. This is a matter that you should take up at User talk: Deepfriedokra, the talk page of the administrator who protected the article. Failing that, you are free to make a request at WP:RFPP. As pointed out previously, this is a rare case where too many extended confirmed editors chose the path of disruption. I am not going to unilaterally undo the decision of another administrator acting in good faith. That's the path to chaos. In the mean time, the edit request process is a viable way to offer input into the article content. Wikipedia is not a breaking news feed.Cullen328 Let's discuss it 04:48, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Paul Erdős

A question both deep and profound,
Is whether a circle is round.
In a paper by Erdős,
Co-authored in Kurdish,

A counter-example is found. Anon, but I've a shrewd idea who wrote it; he has no WP article, and I doubt one would stand up.

Did your reading lead you on to the ideas of Erdős number and the mildly surreal Erdős–Bacon number?

Back on topic. I've stayed out of WP:ANI#User:KIENGIR even though we've interacted four or five times. The first was when he made a really good minor improvement to one of my articles, by knowing that during the Austro-Hungarian Empire what is now Slovakia was then called Upper Hungary. I can't remember the reason for the second, but I do remember suggesting that his heritage of what became the Slovak minority in Hungary after WWI following the Treaty of Trianon (1920) might give him a unique and valuable perspective among English Wikipedians. Our later exchanges were cordial, but may have stopped when he realised that I wouldn't be railroaded into making changes.

Those anecdotes said, anyone who suggests (like KIENGIR) that the Nazis weren't fascist or that the Hungarian Arrow Cross Party weren't rabid antisemites needs a serious attitude adjustment. Narky Blert (talk) 19:40, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for some interesting anecdotes and links, Narky Blert, especially the clue about the pronunciation of Erdős. I had no idea. It is a sad truth that many editors who end up indeffed or banned have a lot to offer the encyclopedia, but are unable to moderate their unique behavioral quirks that cause excessive friction with others. Stop by any time. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 21:07, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Kullanıcı İsmi disruptive edits

Hello Cullen328, I hope you are doing well. I wanted to point out some recent, potentially disruptive, editing by editor Kullanıcı İsmi who you seemed to have had experience in the past. Namely, the editor in question added a separation line into the infoboxes of almost four dozen Syrian civil war battle articles so to separate the al-Nusra Front from other rebel groups. As per established parameters, the separation line is reserved for those who are fighting against the same enemy, but are not fighting as allies. These groups fought side-by-side as allies during the battles. Furthermore, Kullanıcı İsmi went as far as to remove sourced content and its sources (such as BBC News) in a few of the articles as well without any explanation. He seems to have done this in the past as well. He marked almost all of his edits as minor, which they are not. I think an eye should be kept on Kullanıcı İsmi's behavior and action considered if it continues. He seems to have been blocked three times already in just one month since starting to edit, but apparently to no effect. In any case, your help on resolving the issue in a way that would be beneficial to all if possible would be greatly appreciated. Cheers and have a great day! EkoGraf (talk) 19:54, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, EkoGraf. Please describe the issue at User talk: Kullanıcı İsmi, and provide a link to the established parameters you mentioned. Ask the editor to comply. If disruptive editing continues, let me know. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 20:09, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I see that HJ Mitchell has indefinitely blocked this editor. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 20:11, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The parameters were quickly established through discussions between editors close to the start of the war back in 2011 or 2012. So not sure if I would have been able to find the relevant discussions that far back. After the parameters were agreed upon, for the past 10 years, all editors involved knew of them and followed them when creating and editing the Syrian war battle articles. So I could have called in the others to explain them as well. But in any case, seems his editing, in combination with his past behavior, has indeed been deemed too disruptive leading to a permanent block. Thanks again! EkoGraf (talk) 20:32, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
EkoGraf, if you expect other editors to abide by certain parameters, then you must be prepared to provide a link to discussions among editors that established that consensus. Otherwise, the consensus cannot be enforced. All those conversations from ten years ago are in the archives. You may want to do some research and save the links in your user space. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 00:27, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the advice. I might do just that so its saved up for the future. :) EkoGraf (talk) 13:50, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion About Minecraft Movie

When i was talking with Notch, he said the film was completed and set for Release on 10 April 2021. He also said that many Minecraft YouTubers were set to make cameo appearences. I found no sources, but I do trust considering he is the creator of Minecraft. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CodyGaming999 (talkcontribs) 19:19, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, CodyGaming999. I have no idea who "Notch" is, and I do not care. We go by what reliable, published sources say, and in my Google search, I was not able to find any reliable sources that say anything about a release date, or even that principle photography has begun. The film has been in development for years with many problems. If the movie was going to be released in a few days, the entertainment media would be covering it heavily. Just to follow up on this article. The semi-protection for it ended, and as feared, there have been further attempts to make bad faith edits (adding pejoratives, "real name" assertions, BLP violations, etc.) Thankfully, these edits have already been reverted by good faith editors. Based on the level of such activity so far, I think this article falls under consideration for some sort of further protection. Shortscircuit (talk) 23:49, 12 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Shortscircuit, I have semi-protected the article for three months, since intense disruption began as soon as the previous protection expired. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 00:14, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for dealing with this. Shortscircuit (talk) 01:06, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You are welcome. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 01:14, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
At the risk of going off on a slight tangent, although still related to this article. There seems to be a small, but worrying trend of related activity on Wikipedia. I am specifically talking about BLP articles and trolling/doxxing issues. As someone mentioned before, the subject of this article is one of the targets of Kiwi Farms for harassment.
Now, the user who created this article persistently tried to add BLP violating content to the article. So I looked into their edit history, and sure enough, they had created a draft page for Draft:DarksydePhil, another known target of Kiwi Farms, at around the same time. I am not speculating anything purely based on these two articles. That is not my point here.
I did look further back at this user's past contributions, and found that the user had edited the article about Kiwi Farms too. Specifically, the edits were made to change certain parts of the narrative so that Kiwi Farms would look good, and the victim(s) of Kiwi Farms would look bad. For example, in revision 988446307 of the article, details about the suicide of a Kiwi Farms victim was changed, and this user claimed in the edit summary that the "sourced article" included such information. A quick read of the article revealed this to be false. Likewise, revision 988447276 contained a similar change, citing a source article which upon investigation, cotained no such information. Besides, one of the cited references used most likely does not meet reliability requirements.
My point in all this is there is a possibility that Wikipedia could become increasing used by attack sites such as Kiwi Farms as a tool for trolling/doxxing/harassing living persons. Who knows how many other BLP articles out there are already targets of such activity. Shortscircuit (talk) 06:56, 14 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the additional information. The draft will be deleted in a month if it is not edited further. The editor in question is now well aware of the strict sourcing standards for BLPs. If additional infractions of that type come to my attention, I will act promptly. As for the broader problem, none of this is anything new. Article content that overtly violates BLP policy is dealt with swiftly, especially when trolling and doxxing are involved. Edge cases can be a bit more difficult. I encourage you to let me know if you see such violations, and to report them to WP:BLPN if I am not active. Major urgent incidents can be reported to WP:ANI. Thanks again. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 15:13, 14 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Remember what I asked in the tea house? I would like you to answer my two questions about Affenpinschers here

1. On Akc’s popularity rank, Affenpinschers rank 148 out of 197, definitely meaning that they’re rare/endangered.

2. Should affenpinschers be classified as a pinscher? The other pinschers have a slender body, pointed ears, a long snout, and are usually Black and Tan. The affenpinscher shares none of these characteristics, and looks more like a black wire haired Pug.

Answermeplease11, why would you possibly think that I know anything about affenpinschers or are able to answer your questions? I never heard of affenpinschers until now. I suggested that you ask at the Reference desk. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 19:10, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Notable Gretsch Players

Hi Jim, I understand why you reverted my additions of notable Gretsch players. The reference links I provided were sort of placeholders while I find better ones. However, I would like to point out that this sort of thing is inherently a little difficult. It is well known, for example, that Elvis owned a couple of Gretsches - there's even a Wikipedia article listing them by serial number. And in other cases, such as Bono, there is even a photograph of him playing his Gretsch on the very article we're talking about. So I propose that we come to a better agreement of what constitutes a reliable source - to wit, some of these players are so well-known to have played those instruments that no external source is really needed; it's just that obvious and uncontroversial. I look forward to your thoughts. Cheers. Arjuna (talk) 03:41, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Arjuna909. With all due respect, your proposed agreement is not acceptable. If something is "well known", then it should be very easy for you to provide a reliable source. These people playing Gretsch instruments may be well known to you but not to me. This is not "the sky is blue" and "the sun rises in the east" territory. It needs a good reference. Verifiability is a core content policy that requires citations to genuine reliable sources and what you call "placeholders" are forbidden by policy. So, find the reliable sources first, and then write and add the new content. That's the proper order. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 04:11, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I understand your position - though it's curious how a photo of a famous artist holding a Gretsch instrument on the very article under discussion does not create a self-evidently true verification in and of itself. However, you are correct that better sources were needed. I have now gone back, found unimpeachable citations, and added most of the names back. Best regards, Arjuna (talk) 04:48, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Arjuna909, a photo of a famous musician playing a certain guitar at a moment in time is not proof that that person favored that particular guitar or this brand of guitar. Many professional musicians try out a wide variety of instruments. What we need in order to include content connecting a musician to a certain brand or model of instrument is a written (not photographic) reference by someone like a musicologist or a professional music critic making that connection. High standards like this result in a much better encyclopedia. I like Bono and saw U2 perform once, but will only believe what type of guitar he favors when I read it in a reliable source. I paid much more attention to the performance than the brand labels on his guitars. The risk of promotionalism is high for this type of content, so excellent referencing is required. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 05:41, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Bono in fact collaborated with Gretsch on a Bono signature edition guitar (see: https://gretschguitars.com/gear/build/hollow-body/g6136i-bono-falcon-hollow-body-with-cadillac-tailpiece/2411409846. Demanding a 5 sigma proof seems a bit overkill, but there you go - if you wanted dispositive evidence. Cheers, Arjuna (talk) 06:44, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wilful bias

Hello Jim, It may be that this question is for another place but I have yet to find it. The page foreskin suffers from total bias, particularly the section on sensitivity. The citations include eight from one source, Professor Brian Morris (biologist) who I claim to be wholly unreliable and possibly discredited. (His page has issues also) I am not alone in that claim as the talk page there shows. He advocates compulsory circumcision and his views are extreme, while not being mentioned at all on his own page. The article has a great many photographs (too many?) which could cause offence and should have provision not to be seen. It contains a reference to circumcision in the introduction. (arm contains no detail of amputation). The section on sensitivity ends with what reads like a rhetorical flourish. The editor says he believes any debate on sensitivity is over. He only makes citations to evidence that support this point of view. To my mind the page needs a "This page has multiple issues' warning and preferably some good neutral editing. If you can use your best judgement and then please point me to the right place to report that would be a start. Thank you.Thelisteninghand (talk) 15:08, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Thelisteninghand. I am not interested in editing this article. I suggest that you begin by reading Dispute resolution. To determine whether a source is reliable, please use the Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard. For issues of neutrality, use the Wikipedia:Neutral point of view/Noticeboard. I do not consider the number of images to be excessive, although the art images add little. As for a provision to not see the images, that is a non starter. Please read WP:NOTCENSORED. Still there? Chromewobbleshaft (talk) 04:17, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Chromewobbleshaft, it appears that this person was only a member of that band for about two years, and does not have a Wikipedia biography. So, I am not sure that such a photo would add much to the encyclopedia. Any such photo must either be freely licensed or comply with Wikipedia's strict policy on non free images, and there must be consensus for its inclusion. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 04:26, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have a personal relationship with this musician, Chromewobbleshaft? If so, please follow the guideline for editing with a conflict of interest. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 04:29, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The photo next to it is of Dennis Bellenger, who was the bassist for only a couple of years. I am Howard Eddy Jr. and I find it insulting that the time and effort that I put into that band has been thrown aside. That reunion tour was the first time Grand Funk had reunited since the mid 70’s. When Dennis Bellenger was in the band there were only 2 of the 3 originals in the group. When I was with them from 96’-98’ it had the original 3 members for the first time since those mid 70’s. I think I deserve to have a photo on the page Chromewobbleshaft (talk) 04:34, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I don’t understand what you mean about conflict of interest guidelines Chromewobbleshaft (talk) 04:36, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello? Chromewobbleshaft (talk) 04:47, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I believe I found the correct guideline and I read it. I am not trying to gain any advancement or get something from this except for the due respect. GFR would not still be together now had the 96’-98’ tour and Bosnia concerts happened. The shows were strong and the audiences loved that tour, therefore giving the band the confidence to keep it going, with or without Farner. So you say I was only in for a short period and that made it insignificant to the story? That’s not right! Chromewobbleshaft (talk) 04:54, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Typo: “had the 96’-98’ tour and Bosnia concerts NOT happened” Chromewobbleshaft (talk) 04:56, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Chromewobbleshaft, I am a volunteer and not obligated to answer your questions immediately. I have a life off Wikipedia. You have a glaring and obvious conflict of interest and must conduct yourself with restraint. Wikipedia is not a platform for you to get "due respect". It is a neutral encyclopedia. If reliable independent sources describe your importance in that tour, then provide links to that coverage at Talk: Grand Funk Railroad. Your personal experiences are of no interest to Wikipedia editors, except as they motivate you to identify truly reliable sources for the purpose of improving that article. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 05:56, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Are you facing this same issue?

I edit with a Mobile device and a problem I’m facing currently is all the sections are automatically opened as opposed to me clicking on them before they open. Are you also facing this same problem? Celestina007 (talk) 14:09, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Celestina007. I have not encountered that problem before. What type of device are you using and which site or app are you using? Cullen328 Let's discuss it 16:09, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I edit with an iPhone and edit Wikipedia via the website and not the app. Probably I have to reboot the device, if you aren’t facing the same problem then the problem must be from my end, Apple products are always so problematic. Damn! Celestina007 (talk) 16:40, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Celestina007, I am an Android user so I cannot offer iPhone-specific advice. I suggest that you try the desktop site if you aren't already doing so. If you scroll to the bottom of the mobile site, there is a "Desktop" link. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 16:55, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It irks me so much when I have this kind of problems, editing via the desktop site with a mobile is something I detest, I prefer editing under “mobile view” and like I stated, every topic in my talk page is open(this problem started today) as opposed to it being closed and you clicking on the topic of your choice to open and read it. This irritates me to my bone marrow, it’s a Friday, i’m back from work, I’m supposed to be having a good time editing and this nonsense problem chooses to pop up now? Christ Jesus!! If there are two people who can help me here it’s yourself and PrimeHunter. It’s as if Mobile users are deliberately being frustrated. First it was deleted articles still showing in blue as opposed to showing in red, then it was the image greying out problem. I’m tired of this tbh. I’m way too old for this bullshit. Celestina007 (talk) 19:01, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Celestina007, I am very sorry that you are having such a tough time today. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 19:35, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Cullen328, your concern is appreciated. I’m heading to the tea house perhaps I might get some luck there. Celestina007 (talk) 19:38, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Celestina007, another option is WP:VPT. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 19:40, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Celestina007: I had to dig through the source to find the answer. Best I can tell, if your device has a width of over 720 pixels, this is considered a "tablet" and all sections are expanded. Otherwise, there should be an "Expand all sections" option in your settings (under the hipster menu hamburger menu menu with three bars). So, either you recently upgraded to a larger device, switched to reading in landscape mode, or you accidentally checked that option. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 19:53, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Suffusion of Yellow, thanks for looking out for me. I have not changed my device, I still optimize my regular device. I have not for once ever checked the “expand all sections” button, you raised a valid point about me accidentally switching to landscape mode, I don’t remember doing so, but If I did accidentally switch to landscape mode, how do I undo that? where do I go to check to see if or not is enabled? This problem is killing me psychologically. Celestina007 (talk) 20:15, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Celestina007: By "landscape mode" I mean "you are holding your phone horizontally". Is the "expand all sections" option even there? If not, that means the site thinks you are on a tablet. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 20:19, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Suffusion of Yellow, affirmative, an expand all sections is very much present but is disabled as earlier stated. Perhaps it would self repair itself as every apple product eventually does. Celestina007 (talk) 20:49, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

TRM and the PBP ANI

The reason that that ANI got out of hand is that TRM inserted himself into it, while at the same time following me to another article I'd recently edited but he'd never edited. TRM has been doing this periodically to me for years. I can provide diffs if needed. I will NEVER stop calling TRM's interactions with me hounding because it's been clear to me for awhile that's what he does to me. pbp 20:39, 17 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

As another editor suggested, you should take a chill pill (or have a cup of tea). Your behavior there is way out of line. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 20:41, 17 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
So TRM just gets a free pass to hound me from time to time? That's not fair. That's not on. How the hell does that guy get away with treating everybody like crap? pbp 20:48, 17 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The simple fact of the matter is that you look much worse in that discussion than the other editor does. Can't you see that? Cullen328 Let's discuss it 20:50, 17 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If looking bad in that ANI is the price I have to pay to get TRM off my back, I'd pay it. And more. I've had it up to here with TRM and just when I thought I'd rid myself of him he comes bumbling in there with clearly nothing else on his mind except turning this discussion into an excuse to demand punishment of me. Can I get a commitment from you to tell him to stop doing that? pbp 20:52, 17 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No. Any editor in good standing can comment at ANI. Stop behaving in ways that lead other editors to think that you need to be sanctioned. It's a really bad look. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 20:56, 17 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Becoming an editor for Wikipedia

Dear Jim,

I am Anaïs, working into digital and energy transition topics and would like to become editor for Wikipedia. I used to be web journalist and editor, my main area of knowledge are : energy, sustainable development, Middle East and Africa Geopolitics. I am French national and fluent in English as well.

Many thanks for your feedback in where to start and how to contribute to the platform.

Best,

Anaïs.

Hello, AnaBarbera24. I suggest that you try The Wikipedia Adventure, and start to familiarize yourself with Wikipedias policies and guidelines. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 15:58, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Article update pending after full disclosure

Hi Jim, you helped me out sorting the conflict of my username and assisted in a question last year - User_talk:Cullen328/Archive_70#International_Usage_(de/en) - so I hope you can help me with a pending update a client made in February after a full disclosure of the username: Talk:Wellendorff Is there something could be done helping to get the translation and investiagation work a go for the pending article-update? Regards, --mARTin (talk) 20:53, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, MARTin.Hinterdorfer. The material on that talk page is highly promotional and completely unacceptable for this encyclopedia. It is written like an advertisement, and from the point of view of the company. Please read WP:NPOV. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 21:01, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for you quick reply. Is it o.k., when I go through the draft-text to get rid of the PR-/Ads-parts and re-issue the publication? --mARTin (talk) 05:38, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
MARTin.Hinterdorfer, yes, of course. You can edit the draft to make it neutral. It needs a lot of work, and it especially needs more references to independent reliable sources that devote significant coverage to the company. Those sources should be the backbone of the article, not the company's own website. Use of the company's website should be kept to a bare minimum, in accordance with WP:SELFPUB. Please read WP:NCORP for a deeper understanding of what is required. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 06:21, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanx againg for your time and the links provided. I know about that and went through the references, only three of them are from the company page - legal information and two for history and product-details - I'll head to get more English sources into references 'cause for now it's a lot of German sources. One Addon question right now: should I give you an information after editing or do you have the page on your watchlist anyway? --mARTin (talk) 06:40, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
MARTin.Hinterdorfer, please let me know when you have made the changes. German language sources are OK but English language sources are preferable when available. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 17:08, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Tried to post to teahouse but didn't work?

Hi Jim,

I just discovered Teahouse, which is really cool. I have been editing on Wikipedia for 14 years but only sporadically and I am not really super knowledgeable about the references.

I posted a question to Teahouse a few minutes ago, but something weird happened. I don't know what. I also saw some input from an Elmidae? I messaged her/him. I don't even know how to look for responses to these questions.

I'd really appreciate any help. My email is sfbaybreezes@yahoo.com. I also got a notification from another member but also did not know how to respond?

For example, I always check "watch this page" but not sure where I can look at the "watches"? I don't think I've ever figured that out. pretty sad.

Thanks very much for any help.

Kris Wood

Kristinamwood (talk) 13:43, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Kristinamwood. I do not know why your attempt to ask a question at the Teahouse was not successful. My best guess is that you forgot to click the "Publish changes" button and therefore lost what you had written. Elmidae corrected an error you made in formatting a reference. They gave you a detailed and useful response at User talk: Elmidae. I do not know what kind of browser or app you are using. I usually use the fully functional desktop site on an Android smartphone. At the very top of any page in desktop mode is a "Watchlist" tab that displays recent changes to pages you watch. There is also a "Contributions" tab that lists your recent edits. The best place to respond to an editor is in the relevant conversation. You can also visit their talk page, just as you have visited mine, and start a new conversation. I hope this helps. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 15:39, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the great info, Jim! That was very useful. I know that I did Publish Changes. So not sure what went wrong. But I've gotten my questions answered. And Elmidae corrected my edit and also shared very helpful info. Thanks again.
