Fashion Cafe article

On the Fashion Cafe article you restored a sentence about Tommaso Buti under the history section. While factual and referenced, it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the history of the Fashion Cafe. The fact that Tommaso Buti was pardoned seems to be about Tommaso Buti and not the Fashion Cafe. I feel that it doesn't belong in the Fashion Cafe article if it doesn't have anything to do with the Fashion Cafe itself. The article list no other details about any of other founders. I'm not the person who originally removed it but it seems reasonable to me to not include it in the article. I'd like to undo your edit but why do you feel that it belongs there? Thanks. Dbroer (talk) 17:50, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

1958 in animation

Why did you remove most of the people's credits for births? I get that you were trying to trim but look, not just I did shorten some people in general (specifically if someone works on multiple shows at the same studio, I just shortened them as Nickelodeon Animation Studio, Cartoon Network Studios, Disney TV Animation, etc.), some people (specifically celebrities) only did a few voice work and that's it. Like when you removed all of Neil DeGrasse Tyson's guest animated roles, the only role you kept is Neil DeBuck Weasel from Ice Age: Colission Course, even if he's a MINOR character. Sometimes, some of the credits are wrong on IMDB specifically when somebody added Drew Graybeal. It claims that he worked on VeggieTales but didn't work on that show since it was vandalized on IMDb. When he was background artist, he worked on a lot of DIC Entertainment shows so that's why I shortened it to DIC Entertainment for background artist. Unlike Houchins, Graybeal didn't have too many credits. Can you think about restoring some of these people credits back to the way it is? However, I won't put EVERY role that Maurice LaMarche has done, just his notable roles. Same applies to Frank Welker although he has almost 1000 voice credits! But you see, I won't add EVERY role for people like Frank Welker or Tara Strong but if you keep removing most of their work on this page, this page can be a little bit too small. I'm not trying to bug you. 69.255.225.138 (talk) 19:00, 1 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There is no need to have so many specific credits on these types of pages. Two or three are sufficient to illustrate. The rest of the credits can be seen on their own page. The focus of the list article is the individual, and having so many credits listed for each person takes the focus away and makes the article ungainly. ... discospinster talk 19:05, 1 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

But some people such as Neil DeGrasse Tyson and Megan Mullally, they didn't have too many voice roles in general. Do you know what is a big block of text? If I add like 1200 words! Which I won't do that. It's understandable for voice actors, but some celebrities didn't have too much roles in general. Although celebrities are also voice actors like Mark Hamill, which I won't add all of his roles since he also has a lot of credits.

It's not a matter of how many voice roles they have had. This is a list article, the descriptions are not meant to be comprehensive. ... discospinster talk 19:10, 1 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you cut a lot from this article, and that a new editor added a lot after. Some of that I removed as a verbatim copyright infringement. Other additions I left intact, although in my opinion much of it is too-close paraphrasing from the USPA website. I am more concerned that all of the references are USPA!! Your thoughts? David notMD (talk) 19:27, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

UPdate - After expressing my concerns at Teahouse, an Admin reverted the article to state before the new editor arrived on the scene. Article still flawed for lack of references and too much referenced to USPA. I have no skin in this topic, so will not be contributing nor monitoring in the future. Raphael Hazrat Ishaan

Dear Discospinster,

2 days ago I have created an article about the current head of the Qadiri Naqshbandi Sufi order. An Afghan Prince and Lawyer with Millions of spiritual followers in South Asia. However this article seems to have had a bad history of deletions, because of which Mccapra has requested speedy deletion. It seems that the prince has many fans somewhere around teh world who tried to make Wikipedia articles, but with low experience and bad quality because of which it was deleted many times. Alone that actually shows notability. I have to agree that the quality of the article about Sayyid Raphael Dakik indeed lacked quality in year 2020, but that was long ago and I have improved it very well so that it has become a professional Wikipedia Article. The request for speedy deletion was with pure bad-faith and I would be grateful to receive your assistance in creating the article on Raphael Hazrat Ishaan again. Once you confirm, I will recreate the article and would be grateful for your assistance in defending it. --TwelverShii (talk) 12:27, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Antisemitism in Ukraine

Really? Then why didn't you alter the wording? That article sure says something to that effect, more that the antisemtism and neo-naziism as claimed by Russia is fake, and who should know better than a Jewish source if it's about antisemitism? You don't think a Jewish source is going to say it's not happening when it is? That would be like Jews denying the holocaust. --Justice 4 all people (talk) 00:28, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It's not up to me to alter the wording, I don't know what you were even trying to say. ... discospinster talk 00:29, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Written a bit badly I'll grant you. I've looked back. Basically, antisemtism in Ukraine is being claimed by Russia to be a real thing and for why it invaded the Ukraine. Even if there may be some antisemitism in Ukraine, it doesn't exist everywhere, and doesn't form a part of Ukraine's governing system nor ruling coalition, and what's more, given the antisemitic nature of the Russian state anyhow, being an antisemite in Ukraine will likely make you pro-Russian, nor anti. Those anti are pro-NATO and pro-European. Justice 4 all people (talk) 00:33, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Matthew Hensen

I noticed you reverted my edit at Matthew Henson - happy to take to talk page. As per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Biography#Context, the ethnicity/race should only be placed in the lede “unless it is relevant to the subject's notability.” In this case, I feel that Hanson’s race is not the primary reason for his notability - rather it is as one of the first men - and arguably as ‘’’the’’’ first man at the North Pole. The fact he his African American is notable, but it is not the primary reason for his notability. The prefix “African” was added to his nationality on 2 May 2022 by an anonymous user without any reason given (which I accept is slightly hypocritical to mention given that I myself am an anonymous user.). I therefore feel you have incorrectly reverted my edit. Happy to hear your thoughts or take to the page’s talk. 84.64.65.62 (talk) 20:49, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I do disagree and feel that the fact he is an African American is part of his notability. Even though he could actually be the first non-native, or even the first human, to reach the North Pole, he is also an African American arctic explorer when that was incredibly uncommon. In pretty much everything written about him, it's mentioned right away that he's black. ... discospinster talk 01:24, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

November 2022

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on District of Columbia Organic Act of 1871. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Zekerocks11 (talk) 21:13, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You are the one who violated 3RR, edit warred with multiple editors, and posted a false edit summary to justify removal of content. When I all-too-kindly informed you that you were extremely fortunate to not have been blocked for this misconduct, you replied "I have seniority over you, as I have been here longer than you. (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:StephenBryant7&diff=1125575736&oldid=1125570564) Frankly, I will say it again: you are extremely lucky you have not been blocked already. I don't know what to make of this article. Greythoundgal. who you reverted, added "He is also the Supreme Leader of IWAG: Intergalactic Woodcarvers and Guests." Of course that's nonsense. There's a lot of unsourced and OR stuff in the article, and I'm not sure they meet GNG. This International Woodcarvers Congress does exist, but is it enough for notability? If so than I think stubbing the article is the way to go. And of course a waste of time for such a minor article, but sitll. Doug Weller talk 10:56, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Source for the Bogota article.

Discospinster I wanted to apologize for not stating my sources for the Bogota article, and I appreciate you leaving me the note. Meaning of Green or Greene

Greene or Green. It meant the same thing it does now. It did not mean “sexually”. The Wikipedia article incorrectly defines the word at the beginning of the explanation of Greensleeve’s possible identity.

(It means inexperienced- if used as an adjective)

Note “inexperienced” is often used in a sexual context. It’s meaning alone is unrelated. This is a basic tenant of English and need not further be explained.

Anyone versed in literature at the time undoubtedly realize this.

Or shall we argue with William Shakespeare?

“.. my salad days. When I was green in judgment”

Consensus

Good Morning Discospinster,

It looks like you are open to consensus model to update the Marie Newman page. How does one initiate the model? How might I participate? I am happy to show documentation, receipts, etc.

Please advise how to begin the process?

If you would like to update the information in the Marie Newman page, you should not remove what is already there. You can add clarification to it, but it is not a good idea to remove large portions of reliably-sourced content. ... discospinster talk 18:00, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Questionable use of rollback

I watch the Moody Blues and just saw your rollback of edits that were clearly not vandalism. While WP:ROLLBACKUSE does allow for rolling back "other edits where the reason for reverting is absolutely clear", the reason was not absolutely clear. I appreciate that you left a standard message on the IP's talk but explaining after the fact doesn't dismiss improper use in the moment. Too late to do anything useful about it (I would not even argue for a dummy edit to add clarification to the history of edit summaries), but it would be preferable in similar future cases to manually rollback and leave a specific edit summary. Fred Gandt · talk · contribs 19:40, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

They were clearly vandalism of a type that has been going on a long time. ... discospinster talk 19:44, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Evidently nonsense; the dates changed were stable since at least May 2022 (other than an appropriate technical adjustment a month ago), and that's easily long enough ago to call them flat-out stable. There is no recent trend to fallback on; this was a singular example of reasonable edits being made, that although not accompanied by source changes, were very obviously not "clearly vandalism".
