Ashig Alasgar (Azerbaijani: Aşıq Ələsgər, (1821 - 1926)) (also Ashiq Elesger) was an Azerbaijani mystic troubadour (Ashik) and highly regarded poet of Azerbaijani folk songs. He was born in Goyche (Göyçə) region, part of modern-day Armenia.[citation needed]
