Can I please re-edit these two articles, I don't think it right in the modern day, when homosexuality is neither a crime or something to be ashamed of, to have articles describing actors and characters as openly or proudly gay. Plus RE: Your last comment on my talk page Do you mean my source for it being legal and nothing to be ashamed of to be gay? 172.203.176.142 (talk) 00:21, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I never added that the character was gay to the article But he is, and this is known from the fact that it's mentioned in the show by the character and others and the fact that he has sex with a man in episode one of this series. Do you even watch it? My edits were the removal of the proud and openly comments in both the character and actor's wiki pages, as I feel it reads as if homosexuality is illegal and immoral when it's not. 172.203.176.142 (talk) 00:31, 19 February 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.203.176.142 (talk) [reply]

Suddenly last night, it says JJ reported to AIV and I'm thinking, "Thats not right". He told me that Huggle accidentally reported it to AIV instead of blocking the vandal. Burner0718 JibbaJabba! 01:58, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

vandalism!?

i was trying to fix the spelling, it had recently come to my attention that the grave accent replaces the tittle on the i and does not go over the o in the name Víctor. Also on that other edit, i made the mistake of answering a question regarding my question in the archives. The user said, could i provide more context for the word warfare in spanish, i stated...biological warfare. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Boomgaylove (talkcontribs) 02:03, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

i was adding the IPA pronunciation dude. stop accusing me of vandalism unwarrantedly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Boomgaylove (talkcontribs) 02:31, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

accent goes on the i not the o friend.[1]

how bout next time you think im being a vandal, you message me first? and i'll try to use edit summaries and sign my posts more often? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Boomgaylove (talkcontribs) 02:39, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

His current username was too similar to his chosen one so he wouldn't be able to create a new one himself. The software prevents people from creating new usernames that are very similar to current one (like different capitalisation, spacing or very substituted letters that look similar) to prevent confusion/impersonation. WP:ACC question

Was the kanchankabir request a straightforward create? I was tempted to create it myself, as it seemed so straightforward (it had no "tricky" letters, no similar usernames, no vandalism by requestor, appears to be the concatenation of two common indian words), but I wanted to be sure it was that straightforward. The only part that bothered me was why he had used ACC instead of creating it directly.

Could one have created the account normally, that is, was the username too similar to an existing one or otherwise automatically blocked? I know there are other reasons people need ACC, but similar username seems to be the most common reason. JackSchmidt (talk) 19:10, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Relient K

May I ask why the edit on the Relient K song article is vandalism because I put a tidbit on how many viewings it has on YouTube? I didn't use the link. I am sorry if I am breaking some rule but there wasn't a rule before on talking about a song's success on websites. I don't know what to sign with, my IP address or whatever, but I have an account I just didn't sign into. So please don't think that I am a new Wikipedia user running around and editing what I want.

Replied on your talk page. - Milk's Favorite Cookie 21:09, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well there is all sorts of information on many many songs on Wikipedia that tells of how well the singles do on charts, websites, and even how many times the videos are watched. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.187.177.76 (talk) 21:10, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A few questions

Hey there, Milk's Favorite Cookie!
Just a few questions...

  1. I tried to get the statusbot thing to work on my user page, but I can't figure out why it won't say I'm anything but "somewhere". Do you have any idea what I'm doing wrong?
(Here is the source code. The statusbot template is the first thing on the page after the table header. I modified it so it would be in the center of the table. Is that the problem?)
  2. I tried to look at the source code of your userpage to try to fix the problem outlined in question 1, but I have to admit your anti-vandal strategy has me stumped. How on earth did you do that? (If you don't mind telling me... If you want, you can email me if you don't want the info to be available in my talk page history, which seems wise.)
  3. I have noticed you have the "admin hopeful" userbox on your page. I looked at your last 5000 contributions (well, your edit summarys for them...), and I think you would be an excellent administrator. Would you like me to nominate you?

If it's not to much trouble, can you reply on my talk page? I know I will forget to come back here for your reply.
Thanks for you help.
J.delanoygabsadds 23:28, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Escalating warnings

When giving user warnings, please only escalate if the user inserts additional vandalism after that warning. At User talk:190.17.84.178 you went first to second to third all over a half hour after the user last edited. Obviously a user wouldn't have received any of those escalations before that. This IP does appear to be productive every so often and a bit of the edits reverted as vandalism look like they were in good faith, so please, just try to escalate only for active users, not for stale users. Thanks Metros (talk) 03:01, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll miss one every once in a while. I don't have the remind me thing on because it is just second nature on here to type an edit summary, and every once in a while I'll accidentally hit Save instead of click on the edit summary box.   jj137 (talk) 21:22, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lol. After a while it might get old, though. Remember the IP who was vandalizing my user talk page? I had to delete my talk page and selective restore it (only restore the non-vandal revisions) because some of them were so bad.   jj137 (talk) 21:32, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah you can. Lots of vandal fighters that get lots of userspace vandalism have their user talk pages semiprotected.   jj137 (talk) 00:12, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Carolina-Clemson Rivalry

Maybe you can help me with something. The Carolina-Clemson Rivalry page has incorrect statements all in it. I'm merely trying to fix one problem (The number of National Championships by each team). It currently says 6 for South Carolina. That of course is false, the University of South Carolina only has one national championship NCAA Website on National Championships. Vipergeek continues to change it back to the incorrect statement of 6 National Championships. This is not debatable. It isn't in question. Its just wrong. I like wikipedia because its a great tool but if it isn't reliable what is one to do. I've been threatened to be banned and accused of vandalism for making the page correct. Is there anything that can be done about this or should the encyclopedia be left wrong? --Tigeringtown (talk) 16:14, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it actually is debatable, and has even been debated in the talk section of the article before you came along and took it upon yourself to remove a dual-sourced statement from the article and then revert edits 4 times in 3 hours. Edit warring in this article is not welcome, please look for something more constructive to do with your time on Wikipedia. ViperNerd (talk) 17:03, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Script

Sure. I have a vandal script written, and I can modify it to whatever customized warnings you want. Should it work for IPs and registered users (all user talk pages),just IPs, or just accounts (one of the three choices)? Also, are you going to customize warning templates for all levels?   jj137 (talk) 17:35, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, you can import User:Jj137/warn-alt.js; I haven't tested it yet but it should work doesn't seem to work with wikEd enabled, so you may need to temporarily disable that for it to work. There will be a "final" tab when you edit user talk pages; click on it to give the message and then hit save or type in the article name. It will automatically sign for you. One more thing, do you want it to automatically add a shared IP notice on IP user talk pages (like Twinkle does)?   jj137 (talk) 18:03, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well thanks. I guess I'm going to have to hit refresh 17 times, because it's not working for me. :)   jj137 (talk) 18:16, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No problem (and my monobook is very crowded).   jj137 (talk) 18:35, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Signature

Hi, would you please reduce the font size in your signature. It's distracting and breaks up text sometimes. John Reaves 18:23, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not really, you've made it bigger, you went from 2 to 3. It needs to be the same size as the text of your comments. John Reaves 18:41, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What's wrong with: Milk's Favorite Cookie ?
If a font can't be displayed at a normal size then you shouldn't use it. John Reaves 19:26, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've taken the above user off WP:AIV - as far as I can see they've had no warnings (although I've given them a good faith warning) and have only made one test edit (to Saint Patrick)...or at least, only one non-deleted contribution. Is that okay? GBT/C 21:04, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ditto User:SPARTANlalala - one edit and no warnings is a little early to take someone to WP:AIV. GBT/C 21:07, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hoobs Ep List

Hey, just to let you know, we both bit the big squirrel on this one: [7]--someone placed an ep list, an IP reverted it(correctly--it's total fakery); you reverted the removal, then a third user re-removed it (no edit summary, or maybe I would have looked closer) but instead, I said "well, MFC certainly wouldn't do anything vandalistic, whereas I never heard of this TRWolf person...REVERT!" Whereupon TRWolf decided "hey, maybe an edit summary would help" and finally informed us that what we'd been reverting was WP:BOLLOCKS. Argh. At least I'm in good company. Hi!

I'm not quite sure about your message because I do know that my change was correct German. The only reason I see for reverting me is that you do not know (do not want to have) that letter "ß" in a text. If that were the case I could accept the revert otherwise I would be interested in your explanation. Thanks. --91.23.243.49 (talk) 23:37, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: [8]. Given that accounts with very few edits cannot usurp existing accounts - reserving this for established users helps try and make sure that popular names are put to good use - there isn't much point suggesting in usurpation to a user whose request will likely be denied anyway. Better I think just to ask them to choose another name that isn't taken [9]. WjBscribe 07:57, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bob Parsons reverts

hi there, I noticed you had reverted the removal of what I had called overly adulatory material from this Mr. Parsons page. Specifically, the article seems overall to be lacking neutral POV, and seems to be very approving of the man. Mr. Parsons may well be a fine example of a human being, but in the interests of being npov, had taken out unverified/irrelevant/over adulatory detail. I noticed that you (or perhaps a bot you run?) had reverted, and hence this note. cheers, Thisonefella (talk) 22:43, 26 February 2008 (UTC)thisonefella[reply]

I think it's the 17th, not sure, though. I should be back on the 26th. Basketball110 what famous people say 02:38, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As long as it's after the 25th or 26th, just send me a message enclosing the time and date, and I'm there. Basketball110 what famous people say 02:48, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
