The 2009 American League Championship Series (ALCS) will be a best-of-seven game series pitting the winners of the 2009 American League Division Series, the [[2009 New York Yankees season|New York Yankees] and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim , against each other for the American League Championship and the right to be the that league's representative in the 2009 World Series. The series, the 39th in league history, is scheduled to begin on October 16 and run no later than October 25 (if all seven games are played). Fox Sports will carry all games with Joe Buck and Tim McCarver in the broadcast booth. This season, weeknight games will begin 40 minutes earlier as suggested by Commissioner Bud Selig.[1]
