Insignia of Director Intelligence Bureau

The director of Intelligence Bureau (Devanāgarī: खुफिया ब्यूरो के निदेशक, Khufīya Bureau Ke Nīrdeshāk) simply known as DIB is the senior most post in Intelligence Bureau and the only four-star[1] Indian Police Service rank in the country. The current director of Intelligence Bureau is Mr. Syed Asif Ibrahim, a 1977 batch IPS cadre.

Authority

Director IB (DIB) is a member of the Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) andminister]] should the need arise, but intelligence inputs (at least in theory) go through the regular channels in the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Joint Intelligence Committee.
