Dear Blnguyen

Dear Blnguyen, I've taken the time to browse your contributions extensively and was thinking about adding a personal review to the page that you've wisely created in order to get feedback on yourself. However, I believe that in your case, the time for words is over, and it's the right moment to act instead. Therefore, I'd like to suggest you to apply for adminship without delay, and it would be both a pleasure and a privilege if you allow me to nominate you. I very seldom offer myself to nominate someone I've never directly interacted with before, but in your case I can clearly see that you're an asset to our community and a very nice person; to sum it up, exactly the kind of admins that we desperately need. We all believe you're ready. Please, if you wish to accept my proposition, just let me know; I'll be happy to proceed. Cheers, Phaedriel tell me - 17:23, 11 May 2006 (UTC) [reply]

I'll co-nominate based on your helpful presence at DYK. Please accept this opportunity. Kimchi.sg 17:58, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Seems like Blnguyen's got a lot of support votes even before his RFA has begun! Anyway myself, User:I@n & User:Snottygobble too have been considering nominating him for some time now & have been corresponding through email. When I first considered nominating him on 25th April he told me he would like to wait for a month before accepting. So Blnguyen do you think you are ready now? Srikeit(talk ¦ ) 18:23, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. If User:Anwar saadat turns up & attcks your RFA (which I have no doubt he would), it will turn into a battle ground for the article Ajith rather than an RFA. Can you give me your email address (preferably gmail) so we can continue this correspondence there. Srikeit(talk ¦ ) 01:38, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I respect your decision to defer any nomination for later, but I must comment on your main reason for doing so. If User:Anwar saadat attacks you during the RfA, other voters have the perogative to dismiss his comments and concentrate on evaluting your contributions instead. Don't let him deter you from an RfA nom - let your contribs and your prior responses to him influence other, non-biased editors. I'm sure the RfA community will be excellent in weeding out any invalid opposes or attacks. Kimchi.sg 02:05, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nod. You'd have my hearty support as well. Just promise us you'll keep doing DYK's !!! ++Lar: t/c 01:41, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If/when you go for an RFA, somebody is likely to comment on your signature and the userboxes (though most of them seem to be valid). Please make sure that you have taken these into account before then. Tintin (talk) 01:48, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Let me clarify : I'll support you even if you had the old signature or if you had none at all ! But as you know there'll be some frivolous votes on the basis of it which we could do without. Ignore my comment about useboxes. I had only noticed that there are too many, but looking closer there are none which they call 'divisive'. Tintin (talk) 05:18, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Stop dilly-dallying around! Nominate yourself already! :p michael talk 04:06, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sukh's RFA - Thanks!

Thank you for your vote on my RfA. Unfortunately there was no consensus reached at 43 support, 18 oppose and 8 neutral. I've just found out that there is a feature in "my preferences" that forces me to use edit summaries. I've now got it enabled :) Thanks again. Sukh | ਸੁਖ | Talk 15:41, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

VandalProof 1.2 Now Available

After a lenghty, but much-needed Wikibreak, I'm happy to announce that version 1.2 of VandalProof is now available for download! Beyond fixing some of the most obnoxious bugs, like the persistent crash on start-up that many have experienced, version 1.2 also offers a wide variety of new features, including a stub-sorter, a global user whitelist and blacklist, navigational controls, and greater customization. You can find a full list of the new features here. While I believe this release to be a significant improvement over the last, it's nonetheless nowhere near the end of the line for VandalProof. Thanks to Rob Church, I now have an account on test.wikipedia.org with SysOp rights and have already been hard at work incorporating administrative tools into VandalProof, which I plan to make available in the near future. An example of one such SysOp tool that I'm working on incorporating is my simple history merge tool, which simplifies the process of performing history merges from one article into another. Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to download and install version 1.2 and take it out for a test-drive. As always, your suggestions for improvement are always appreciated, and I hope that you will find this new version useful. Happy editing! --AmiDaniel (talk) 02:08, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And the hits just keep coming! !!!

Updated DYK query Did you know? has been updated. A fact from the article Ein Bisschen Frieden, which you recently created, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

that subject seemed fitting... ++Lar: t/c 02:56, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination for Adminship

Your suggestion at DYK

Thanks Blnguyen, I am still learning the ropes. I'd like to make a proposal at Talk:DYK to create a box for the next DYK. Since it won't directly affect the Main Page, its contents won't be as sensitive so there is no need to protect it. We could start populating it earlier and more people would be able to collaborate. ←Humus sapiens ну? 03:23, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, go to Wikipedia talk:Did you know to try and instigate new policies and procedure. Hopefully, this time next week, I can help to keep DYK running smoothly. I think the more articles which get a run on DYK the better, as it keeps up community morale, which is vital to the ongoing success of the project.Blnguyen | Have your say!!! - review me 03:28, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your RFA

Thanks for your comments. I understand completely about writing esoteric or noncontroversial articles. I have a half a dozen myself where I am essentially the only contributor (Population Genetics is pretty lonely if you stay away from evolution. :)). I have learned immeasurably from the conflict that arose on Natural selection, even though I was not involved. There is a currently open arbitration case against one editor, based on essentially one or two other editors. On the other hand, I've been able to work with this same editor on Heritability with little trouble. I fully expect the editor who started the arbitration to be the subject of one eventually. It seems to be the nature of the business. Good luck with your administership. Just remember, one of the best tools to deal with "problem" editors is to hesitate before clicking Save page. Ted 05:02, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd advise you not to link to your RfA from your user and user talk pages. Judging from past precedent, some people will vote 'oppose' based on the RfA link alone. Kimchi.sg 10:06, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Userspace RfA notice

Heyo there! Just coming by to spread misery instead of cheer! :P Anyway, could you consider taking down the notice about your RfA? I, personally, don't care, but there are people on Wikipedia that believe such notices to be advertising, and will (mis)interpret that as a sign of immaturity. You don't have to take it down, and I'm not forcing you to, but just thought I'd bring that to your attention. Anyway, thanks and cheers! Master of Puppets That's hot. 10:29, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A Master dedicated to the cause of the Human Being

I really appreciate the contents that you guys have contributed to other articles of Wikipedia, the Open Source Encyclopedia. I really acknowledge the hard works that you've been doing to make the encyclopedia a rich source of knowledge. In fact, I am also a strong advocate of Open Source, and GNU Free Documentation.

As far as I know, The Supreme Master Ching Hai has always been a pacificist trying to spread the message of Truth and Virtue all over the world through her teachings that are meant to bring mankind towards the realization of God and Truth. I know the many so called "Masters" out there, but not a real one like the Supreme Master.

Those baseless criticisms, that are published by the so called "cultists" do not sound a good Gift for such a Holy person.

Anyway guys, is there a person on Earth who is totally flawless, and does not have any dark side? If there is so, please do tell me. Don't you have done anything wrong in your whole life? What if someone characterizes you wrongly for the things that you've not even done?

F1 portal featured article

The F1 portal (in which I assume you have some degree of interest, as your name is listed on Wikipedia:WikiProject_Formula_One) is intended to have a regular rotation of a 'featured article'. I've swapped a few in and out over the last couple of months, but I think it would be better if there were more of a community attempt at deciding this, proposals, votes, that kind of thing. The Vandal

Hey Blnguyen. I recommend punching him the next time you see him ;-) I noticed that situation a little while ago. I think he was going through some kind of history page or log and was nominating every page you ever created and was placing them up for deletion on AFD. Me and Zzyzx11 notivced this and he deleted them all considering the nomination were in bad-faith. DGX 04:01, 26 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would say none considering his nomination statement:
nn such and such. Cruft created by User:Blnguyen. -- User:Somebodysomebody
I don't think he's gonna get on the right side of consensus. ;-) DGX 04:07, 26 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, all 12 that were created before I applied the block said:
nn cruft by famous cruft-merchant User:Blnguyen. -- Nobodynobody
So it was not too hard to figure out what that person was doing. One of the pages I deleted was Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Spherical model, [1] so I would not be surprised if the user who created that page again is the same person. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 19:33, 26 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also when having Manmohan Singh as a Prime Minister is mentioned as assuaging the hurt feelings of Sikhs IN the article, then there is nothing wrong in the category too. Football clubs

Hi! I'm sorry I didn't respond earlier to your inquiry about Australian football clubs. I haven't really formed an opinion on them - it depends on how large following they have, if they are notable historically (such as Larvik Turn & I.F.), if they have had notable players on their roster etc. When it comes to Australian clubs tough I reckon I am not familiar enough with the subject..

If you want to look at a low-level football club however, see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Guttæne FC (2nd nomination). Regards, Punkmorten 20:59, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Urgent Request

Dear Blnguyen,

I would like to bring something to your attention (the proposed deletion of a wikipedia article) and would like to request your help.

You probably remember the article India_Basher, you had plaved the PROD TAG on it.

I have seen some of your contributions, and I think with your international background (Vietnam), you might have a good understanding of the issues involved. Please look at current version of the article: India_Basher and views about its proposed deltion:Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/India_Basher. I am hoping to save the article. My contribution to the article is relatively small, but I think it is a valuable article.

I believe that those supporting deletion of the article may have made a decision while the article was still in its beginning stages. With your knowledge of India (at least the movies) and its interaction with the world, you can probably make an informed decision about value of the article, and its accuracy. I will appreciate if you can share your thoughts at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/India_Basher.

Malcolm Andrews book

I noticed the article John Devitt, and you cited a book called "Australia at the Olympic Games" by Malcolm Andrews. Is it a published book with an ISBN and all that? Do you happen to know if it covers the Winter Olympics as well? (I recall one book with the ABC logo on it that covered the Summer Olympics only, so I may have come across this book).

Good on you for the work you're doing - one reason why I work on Winter Olympics is that it's a managable task! Andjam 12:38, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orange County page moves

Hi there. I reverted your removal of the {{db-reason}} tags from the Orange County page move remnants. The redirects are not useful because the areas in question are not part of the respective cities. What's more, the person who moved them has admitted to moving the pages to illustrate a point (see Talk:Anaheim Hills, California#Straw poll, near the bottom). Please either delete them or let another admin do so. Mike Dillon 05:00, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sydney regions

G'Day

I have been adding some information to some of the southern Sydney suburbs and Sydney Regions.

I would like to request a change to the suburbs categories box for 'City of Rockdale'. This box should be linked to Southern Sydney rather than South-Eastern Sydney. Just like Kogarah and Hurstville already do. It would also be really good to have an extra link to the 'St George' region (if possible) for all 3 local govt areas of 'City of Rockdale', 'Municipality of Kogarah' and 'City of Hurstville'.

Also, in 'Regions of Sydney' category box there should be a link to Upper North Shore. We already have Lower North Shore and North Shore there. I have created the page but can't link it.

In the 'City of Rockdale' can you please include the suburb of Kingsgrove? Also, in the 'City of Hurstville', I think the suburb box would look neater without the localities (which aren't really that well-known anyway). A minor edit for local government area of Hunters Hill. It should not have an apostrophe in Hunter's.

Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by J Bar (talkcontribs)

I'm not really sure. I'm not in Sydney (from Adelaide and have only spent a month in Sydney but it was at Bonnyrigg, New South Wales the whole time) so I don't know much about geographic accuracy. When I created the templates, I just copied the list of suburbs from City of Rockdale and used "South-Eastern Sydney because the City of Rockdale article said so - actually it didn't I did a copying error so I fixed it to southern. If you think there are suburbs missing then add them and discuss at WikiProject Sydney or User:Nickj, the Sydney suburbs guru. Your changes seem reasoned, but I'm not really the best person to know about Sydney geographical consideration, so wait a bit. Regards, Blnguyen | Have your say!!! 06:03, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Blnguyen! J Bar's suggestions concerning adding/removing suburbs/localities seem to be inline with the principles discussed at Talk:List of Sydney suburbs, mainly base don the GNB data, so I've implemented them. JPD (talk) 10:46, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Category for cricket

Justin Langer shows up as an Australian Roman Catholic, Mark Taylor as " People of Wagga Wagga" , Clive Lloyd as Freemason, all the Australians have the state/city cat and this cat is APART from the state cricket cat,Phil Tufnell has a Winner of TV program category, David Gower has "people living in Kent" . So all these categories are not "relevant" from the cricket point of view and not from the individuals personal life point of view either. So where does one start or stop with such categories, why stop at religion and say state/ associations alumni categories not related to cricket are OK ? One should then look to remove all these categories. But then clearly the number of categories impacted would have a large number of people who would want them back, so why are we playing god and saying we cannot put categories related to religion for the cricketers and allowing all these superflous to cricket categories ? The aim is not to remove these categories as they clearly mean something to people who can identify with them, but to be more inclusive. Haphar 13:50, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Adelaide University Lacrosse Club

Hi why did you tag the Adelaide University Lacrosse Club article for deletion?

I have tried to fathom what your intent is with this. I am unable to understand how this edit fits in with wikipedia policy. Your comment tag does not make sense to me. "nn university club"

The article was linked from the Adelaide University Sports Association article. It is one of 3 articles I was preparing. The other being the Boat Club and 3rd as yet to be put up Tennis club.

These are the original 3 clubs of the Adelaide University Sports Association and represent a critical period in the development of sport at the University of Adelaide in the 19th Century.

Congratulations on your RFA

Congrats on your RFA! Sorry your most recent FLC isn't getting too far at the moment: I think it can get there, my concern is that the references don't meet WP:CITE. Fix that and I think you're there: it's certainly extensive and well-researched. I just discovered Charles Floyd (conductor) - yet another part in the great Ron Sorensen spamwave of 2005. (Aren't "user contributions" and "what links here" great for this kind of thing?! Probably worth doing just before you speedy anything...) I slapped a speedy tag on it, there's a prod on Ron Sorensen's sole album, and there's a CFD debate on his "albums" category... this seems to cover the entire series of articles now. But just because it's wonderful and it's all about to be removed from Wikipedia otherwise, I think it's worth including a quote from one of the articles:

This was on Wikipedia for over 6 months... :-/ TheGrappler 22:51, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think you should close the other Eurovision afd's (UK in eurovision xxxx and romanian in eurovision xxxx), because it is silly to allow the 2006 years but then deny older years that mention national finals (United Kindom Eurovision set),
