User talk:Vanished user 6393699
In memory of an absolutely awesome Wikipedian, Luke who left probably permanently this time. Hope Luke will come back one day, but who knows owing to such editors, socks, trolls and bloodhounds whether will "I" survive to see that day? Or for that matter whether YOU will?

Speedy deletion nomination of User:Soham/Baby Doll (Ragini MMS 2 song)
Hello Soham,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged User:Soham/Baby Doll (Ragini MMS 2 song) for deletion, because because there's another article on Wikipedia - Baby Doll (Kanika Kapoor song). Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Anita francis2504 (talk) 14:59, 9 April 2015 (UTC)

To Do
Hi Bro! Hope you must be fine. I'm here to tell you that I want to change my username, i.e from HPD to HPD because I'm bored of having my original name as username and want to hide it from public, but I don't know how to do it. Then I tried to remember that once you also had an old user name and you changed it to Soham. I noticed everywhere (even in Commons, File Summary, Talkbacks etc) that your name is changed. I also want like that, I want to hide my real name, i.e in everywhere my real name is present (even in other languages of Wikipedia). How can I do that? Can you help me? HPD Talk 11:03, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
- If you want to change to a new username that is not present in this list, choose WP:CHUS. If its present there then choose WP:CHUU. But before that read the article Wikipedia:Changing username carefully, if you have any problems you know where to go. As a word of advice, you have to do it in each project separately (only if you have edit(s) there) or otherwise your SUL will get broken. – Soham (talk) 14:19, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hi again, and sorry for late, I've selected User:HPD for my target username. It is a registered account and that user has not logged in into the account since 2006. The user has only 4 edits sine that year. I find HPD suitable because my name can also be called as Himanis Pinnu Das. :P
As you said, I've requested under WP:CHUU and gave the sufficient reason for change. See this, go to the very bottom of the page and it's there.
Lastly, is everything all right or I can't change to that username?
HPD Talk 15:31, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
- You didn't leave a {{subst:usurpation requested}} note on the user talk. Do it now. As for whether your user name will be changed that decision will be taken by the 'crat not me. – Soham (talk) 06:09, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- Done Added the code to User_talk:HPD, is anything more necessary or everything is OK? HPD Talk 09:22, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- Why didn't you sign you post? – Soham (talk) 09:25, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- Ooops! I'll sign it right away. But don't worry, that user hasn't opened the account since 2006 .
It seems that AnomieBOT has posted some notes under my request. They are:
- The target username has made edits to Wikipedia. Due to licensing concerns, this may be a barrier to usurpation.
- The current owner of the target username has been notified of this usurpation request.
- Target user has 4 undeleted edits and 0 deleted edits. No SUL account exists for the target user. 2 non-enwiki unattached accounts exist with this name, with 6 total edits. Requesting user has 1233 undeleted edits and 154 deleted edits, for a total of 1387 edits. An SUL account (primary enwiki) exists for the requesting user, with 2345 total edits on 148 wikis.
Why the first one goes wrong? Will that harm the usurpation?

To put Govinda's signature on Govinda (actor) page
Hey buddy, i tried to upload the signature of Govinda on his page. Link is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Govinda_%28actor%29 I also saw that you uploaded Akshay kumar's signature on his page in great quality. I tried to do exactly what you could have done for Akshay kumar's signature. But i dont think i have done that successfully, wiki is saying something.. and also i was unable to make the signature in High Dimension just like Akshay's signature. It will be really great if you could just correct my mistake or better, if you could upload same signature of Govinda on his page by your way.Raj007bond007 (talk) 16:19, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
please at least tell me the procedure in short, to how to do that?Raj007bond007 (talk) 17:33, 23 March 2014 (UTC)

Can you or Kailash source this and improve it?♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:58, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
- I think Kailash can, because I can't speak Tamil, Telugu (he does I think, at least the first one) and the actor has acted in Southern films in these languages. – Soham (talk) 10:03, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
- What is it? I can speak Tamil, but not read it easily. Kailash29792 (talk) 10:15, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
- Is there any chance mate you can improve this article? 'Cause I can't. – Soham (talk) 11:06, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
- If I am given specific sources I can. But only English ones. Meanwhile, u can also seek help from the veteran User:Editor 2050. Kailash29792 (talk) 11:19, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
It gets 70,000 hits a month. I think tit's worth doing if you can.♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:49, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- Currently working on it. But since all the sources are entirely English, I don't think you will have difficulties either. Kailash29792 (talk) 12:19, 2 April 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks, Kailash. Even though language barrier is one of the principal reasons I chose not to work on it but also the time I get these days to edit (take a look at my contribs). – Soham (talk) 13:41, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Haseetohphasee poster.jpg)
Thanks for uploading File:Haseetohphasee poster.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 16:00, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
Kaanchi: The Unbreakable
I received a warning on "Orphaned image", for the poster I have uploaded for Kaanchi..File:Kaanchi.jpg, you have replaced that poster with a completely new one. Please do not completely remove the posters like this, you can always try the option of "Upload a new version of this file", so that the image will get replaced. Please do this hereafter. Anyhow as Kaanchi is the story of Misthi, it would have been appropriate to have the heroine prominent poster as the best one, nevertheless, your poster is good as well. Rajeshbieee (talk) 18:11, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
Once again you replaced someone else's upload?--Tito☸Dutta 20:14, 31 March 2014 (UTC)- Rajeshbieee, add the image back in the article if yours' is an older upload and the image has not lost relevance. And do it everytime when such things happen. There is a crazy trend here in Wikipedia to replace images unnecessarily. --Tito☸Dutta 20:17, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
- Talk to Whistlingwoods. Take care of this revision. Tito, comment only when you know the full story, not when you know only one half of it. – Soham (talk) 14:23, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
- All right, you did not make that edit. Anyway, are you manually reducing image size? --Tito☸Dutta 14:40, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
- Yes. – Soham (talk) 14:55, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
WikiCup 2014 March newsletter
A quick update as we are half way through round two of this year's competition. WikiCup newcomer Godot13 (submissions) (Pool E) leads, having produced a massive set of featured pictures for Silver certificate (United States), an article also brought to featured list status. Former finalist Adam Cuerden (submissions) (Pool G) is in second, which he owes mostly to his work with historical images, including a number of images from Urania's Mirror, an article also brought to good status. 2010 champion (Pool C) is third overall, thanks to contributions relating to naval history, including the newly featured Japanese battleship Nagato. Cliftonian (submissions), who currently leads Pool A and is sixth overall, takes the title for the highest scoring individual article of the competition so far, with the top importance featured article Ian Smith.
With 26 people having already scored over 100 points, it is likely that well over 100 points will be needed to secure a place in round 3. Recent years have required 123 (2013), 65 (2012), 41 (2011) and 100 (2010). Remember that only 64 will progress to round 3 at the end of April. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page; if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points equally. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Also one thing I notice that it has been changed only in Eng Wiki. But I want everywhere i.e in Commons, Fr Wiki, Pt Wiki etc. Will I add another request in the same page where I added before? HPD talk 09:50, 5 April 2014 (UTC) |
- Take out the image from your sig first. As for name change on commons, fr wiki, etc. – they have to be changed locally. That cannot be done though en.wp. – Soham (talk) 10:00, 5 April 2014 (UTC)
- Done Took the image out (see now). And after long search, I found the link for changing the username in Commons, in this, the procedure is quite tough. I've to provide a proof that I'm using HPD in Eng Wiki. Then when I entered SUL info, I was surprised to see that user:HPD also exists in Japanese and Spanish Wiki, and I've added a notice in bold. Please see my request and tell if any mistake is there or not. HPD talk 15:23, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

I think its needed for readers who doesn't want to go through reading reviews but to get an idea what the critics thoughts are. Why in Kahaani using Hindustan times for info box details. I have used that sourced for the budget mainly not for the gross in GTPM. As gross is already detailed in box office column. And also star rating box in Kahaani should be removed too right ?? Daan0001 (talk) 10:54, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

WikiCup 2014 April newsletter
Round 3 of the 2014 WikiCup has just begun; 32 competitors remain. Pool G's Adam Cuerden (submissions) was Round 2's highest scorer, with a large number of featured picture credits. In March/April, he restored star charts from Urania's Mirror, lithographs of various warships (such as SMS Gefion) and assorted other historical media. Second overall was Pool E's Godot13 (submissions), whose featured list Silver certificate (United States) contains dozens of scans of banknotes recently promoted to featured picture status. Third was Pool G's ChrisGualtieri (submissions) who has produced a large number of good articles, many, including Falkner Island, on Connecticut-related topics. Other successful participants included Cliftonian (submissions), who saw three articles (including the top-importance Ian Smith) through featured article candidacies, and Caponer (submissions), who saw three lists (including the beautifully-illustrated list of plantations in West Virginia) through featured list candidacies. High-importance good articles promoted this round include narwhal from Reid, iain james (submissions), tiger from Cwmhiraeth (submissions) and The Lion King from Igordebraga (submissions). We also saw our first featured topic points of the competition, awarded to Czar (submissions) and Red Phoenix (submissions) for their work on the Sega Genesis topic. No points have been claimed so far for good topics or featured portals.
192 was our lowest qualifying score, again showing that this WikiCup is the most competitive ever. In previous years, 123 (2013), 65 (2012), 41 (2011) or 100 (2010) secured a place in Round 3. Pool H was the strongest performer, with all but one of its members advancing, while only the two highest scorers in Pools G and F advanced. At the end of June, 16 users will advance into the semi-finals. To AfC
Hi, and welcome to WikiProject Articles for creation! We are a group of editors who work together on the Articles for creation and Files for upload pages.
A few tips that you might find helpful:
- Please take time to fully read the reviewers' instructions before reviewing submissions.
- The reviewers' talk page is the best place to ask for help or advice. You might like to watchlist this page, and you are encouraged to take part in any discussion that comes up.
- Article submissions that need reviewing can be found in Category:Pending AfC submissions and there is also a useful list which is maintained by a bot.
- You might wish to add {{AFC status}} or {{AfC Defcon}} to your userpage, which will alert you to the number of open submissions. There is also a project userbox. If you haven't done so already, please consider adding your name to the list of participants.
- Several of our members monitor the #wikipedia-en-help connect IRC channel, and you are welcome to join in to ask Wikipedia-related questions.
- The IRC channel #wikipedia-en-afc connect is used occasionally for internal discussion regarding the Articles for Creation process, and also serves as a recent changes feed, displaying all edits made in the Articles for Creation namespace.
- The help desk is the place where new editors can ask questions about their submissions. You are welcome to help in answering their questions.
Once again, welcome to the project. The herald 15:31, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

WikiCup 2014 June newsletter
After an extremely close race, Round 3 is over. 244 points secured a place in Round 4, which is comparable to previous years- 321 was required in 2013, while 243 points were needed in 2012. Pool C's Godot13 (submissions) was the round's highest scorer, mostly due to a 32 featured pictures, including both scans and photographs. Also from Pool C, Casliber (submissions) finished second overall, claiming three featured articles, including the high-importance Grus (constellation). Third place was Pool B's , whose contributions included featured articles Russian battleship Poltava (1894) and Russian battleship Peresvet. Pool C saw the highest number of participants advance, with six out of eight making it to the next round.
The round saw this year's first featured portal, with Sven Manguard (submissions) taking Portal:Literature to featured status. The round also saw the first good topic points, thanks to 12george1 (submissions) and the 2013 Atlantic hurricane season. This means that all content types have been claimed this year. Other contributions of note this round include a featured topic on Maya Angelou's autobiographies from Figureskatingfan (submissions), a good article on the noted Czech footballer Tomáš Rosický from Cloudz679 (submissions) and a now-featured video game screenshot, freely released due to the efforts of Sven Manguard (submissions).
The judges would like to remind participants to update submission pages promptly. This means that content can be checked, and allows those following the competition (including those participating) to keep track of scores effectively. This round has seen discussion about various aspects of the WikiCup's rules and procedures. Those interested in the competition can be assured that formal discussions about how next year's competition will work will be opened shortly, and all are welcome to voice their views then. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Back to trouble you again
Hi Soham, Another question for you. I have been witnessing some edits from IP users adding a reference and more likely nonconstructive edits with a web page called, Filmypandits. And its all over on upcoming high budget movies i.e Kick, It's entertainment. Any idea how we can stop this as im sick of removing them. If we band that web site it would be much easier as no one would be able to add it. Eg See [1].
- I see you have reported it to WP:WPSPAM, which I would have done so good work. Track the revisions and contributions of the spamming IP's using this. Report the IP's there and an admin, most probably MER-C will take action and if necessary report it for spam blacklisting. – Soham (talk) 13:39, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for the reply. Yes I have reported there. Found it on google and followed the link and MER-C did a great job blocking spam users. I'm on it as I'm fed up of reverting these spam content from pages. Hope your well. Pls look at Bombay velvet when you get time. As you have uploaded it i now think I'm wrong. But please do check, as twitter account is not verified and we might be miss led here. There's no sign on Internet about a first look release. This might be a promotion activity as on the tweet it says to change the DP of users to promote the release date and we should not let this happen on wiki. Thanks. WikiCup 2014 August newsletter
The final of the 2014 WikiCup begins in a few short minutes! Our eight finalists are listed below, along with their placement in Round 4:
- Godot13 (submissions), a WikiCup newcomer, finished top of Pool A and was the round's highest scorer. Godot is a featured picture specialist, claiming large numbers of points due to high-quality scans of historical documents, especially banknotes.
- Casliber (submissions) is a WikiCup veteran, having been a finalist every year since 2010. In the semi-final, he was Pool B's highest scorer. Cas's points primarily come from articles on the natural sciences.
- Czar (submissions) was Pool A's runner-up. Czar's points come mostly from content related to independent video games, including both articles and topics.
- Adam Cuerden (submissions) was Pool B's runner-up. Another featured picture specialist, many of Adam's points come from the restoration of historical media. He has been a WikiCup finalist twice before.
- Cwmhiraeth (submissions) won the WikiCup in 2012 and 2013, and enters this final as the first wildcard. She focuses on biology-related articles, and has worked on several high-importance articles.
- 12george1 (submissions) is the second wildcard. George's points come primarily from meteorology-related articles. This year and last year, George was the first person in the competition to score.
- Sturmvogel 66 (submissions), the third wildcard, was the 2010 champion and a finalist last year. His writes mostly on military history, especially naval history.
- Bloom6132 (submissions), the fourth and final wildcard, has participated in previous WikiCups, but not reached any finals. Bloom's points are mostly thanks to did you knows, featured lists and good articles related to sport and national symbols.
We say goodbye to this year's semi-finalists. Matty.007 (submissions), ThaddeusB (submissions), WikiRedactor (submissions), Figureskatingfan (submissions), Yellow Evan (submissions), Prism (submissions) and Cloudz679 (submissions) have all performed well to reach this stage of the competition, and we hope they will all be joining us again next year.
There are two upcoming competitions unrelated to the WikiCup which may be of interest to those who receive this newsletter. The Stub Contest will run through September, and revolves around expanding stub articles, especially high-importance or old stubs. In addition, a proposal has been made for a new competition, the GA Cup, which the organisers plan to run next year. This competition is based on the WikiCup and aims to reduce the good article review backlog.
There is now a thread for brainstorming on how next year's WikiCup competition should work. Please come along and share your thoughts- What works? What doesn't work? What needs changing? Signups for next year's competition will be open soon; we will be in touch. If, at this stage of the competition, you are keen to help the with the WikiCup, please do what you can to participate in review processes. Our finalists will find things much easier if the backlogs at good article candidates, featured article candidates, featured picture candidates and the rest are kept at a minimum. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Grammar
Dear Mr. Soham, I was really pleased to read your article entitled "Dedh Ishqiya", because as usual I find useful information within this big online Encyclopedia. However, I believe that Wikipedia's standards for rigorously and professionally written articles must be set high besides its criteria of information accuracy. Facts are important, but they loose their informative value if they are presented in an approximative manner with a neglected grammar, let alone the fact that the reader also looses his temper and his motivation to read any further. Therefore, I kindly suggest you to revise your article according to a proper use of the language. The Golden Rule for writing articles is to show them to your friends/colleagues/mentor/professors or anyone who is skilled enough to provide you with insightful comments and critics prior to their submission to Wikipedia or any other journals. Hence, since your article contains too many errors (almost one on each line) and given that I do not have enough time to pinpoint all of them, you should really consider showing it to an English literature professor or at least to someone whose native language is English for corrections. However, in order to help you with the task, I will cite some lines where modifications are obviously needed:
The very first line: " (...)directed by Abhishek Chaubey starring Madhuri (...)". After the name Abhishek Chaubey, it seems that "starring" must be preceded by "and", without which the sentence does not make any sense.
Plot Line 3: "...this time posing a nawab, at a...". Did you mean "Posing as a nawab (no coma at all) at a..."
l4: " as per the wishes...". Although "as per" is correct, I would rather write "according to" or use any other synonym, "as per" being too much pompous for an article and somehow weird.
l6: "Gradually the story progress a plot to kidnap the Begum is revealed". This sentence is confusing since you forgot a coma after "Gradually"; there's something missing between "progress" and "a" I guess; if "progress" is a verb, then you did not conjugate it correctly. The line 8 and 9 (and pretty much the rest of it)also contain many syntactic errors.
I hope my comments will help you.
Sincerely,

WikiCup 2015 is just around the corner...
Hello everyone, and may we wish you all a happy holiday season. As you will probably already know, the 2015 WikiCup begins in the new year; there is still time to sign up. We have a few important announcements concerning the future of the WikiCup.
- We would like to announce that Josh (J Milburn) and Ed (The ed17), who have been WikiCup judges since 2009 and 2010 respectively, are stepping down. This decision has been made for a number of reasons, but the main one is time. Both Josh and Ed have found that, over the previous year, they have been unable to devote the time necessary to the WikiCup, and it is not likely that they will be able to do this in the near future. Furthermore, new people at the helm can only help to invigorate the WikiCup and keep it dynamic. Josh and Ed will still be around, and will likely be participating in the Cup this following year as competitors, which is where both started out.
- In a similar vein, we hope you will all join us in welcoming Jason (Sturmvogel 66) and Christine (Figureskatingfan), who are joining Brian (Miyagawa) to form the 2015 WikiCup judging team. Jason is a WikiCup veteran, having won in 2010 and finishing in fifth this year. Christine has participated in two WikiCups, reaching the semi-finals in both, and is responsible for the GA Cup, which she now co-runs.
- The discussions/polls concerning the next competition's rules will be closed soon, and rules changes will be made clear on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring and talk pages. While it may be impossible to please everyone, the judges will make every effort to ensure that the new rules are both fair and in the best interests of the competition, which is, first and foremost, about improving Wikipedia.
If you have any questions or concerns, the judges can be reached on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, on their talk pages, or by email. We hope you will all join us in trying to make the 2015 WikiCup the most productive and enjoyable yet. You are receiving this message because you are listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. WikiCup 2015 launch newsletter
Round one of the 2015 WikiCup has begun! So far we've had around 80 signups, which close on February 5. If you have not already signed up and want to do so, then you can add your name here. There have been changes to to several of the points scores for various categories, and the addition of Peer Reviews for the first time. These will work in the same manner as Good Article Reviews, and all of the changes are summarised here.
Remember that only the top 64 scoring competitors will make it through to the second round, and one of the new changes this year is that all scores must be claimed within two weeks of an article's promotion or appearance, so don't forget to add them to your submissions pages! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! There's a recent article on List of Indian Kings and Emperors. I have tagged it with unreferenced, uncategorized and lead missing. What do we do with such an article? They all are notable but provided the large number of Kings, is it good to have a separate list? IMO this article should be merged. Waiting for your opinion. WikiCup 2015 March newsletter
That's it, the first round is done, sign-ups are closed and we're into round 2. 64 competitors made it into this round, and are now broken into eight groups of eight. The top two of each group will go through to round 3, and then the top scoring 16 "wildcards" across all groups. Round 1 saw some interesting work on some very important articles, with the round leader Freikorp (submissions) owing most of his 622 points scored to a Featured Article on the 2001 film Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within which qualified for a times-two multiplier. This is a higher score than in previous years, as Godot13 (submissions) had 500 points in 2014 at the end of round 1, and our very own judge, Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) led round 1 with 601 points in 2013.
In addition to Freikorp's work, some other important articles and pictures were improved during round one, here's a snapshot of a few of them:
- Cwmhiraeth (submissions) took Bumblebee, a level-4 vital article, to Good Article;
- AHeneen (submissions) worked-up the Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 article, also to Good Article status;
- Rodw (submissions) developed an extremely timely article to Good Article, taking Magna Carta there some 800 years after it was first sealed;
- And last but not least, Godot13 (submissions) (FP bonus points) worked up a number of Featured Pictures during round 1, including the 1948 one Deutsche Mark (pictured right), receiving the maximum bonus due to the number of Wikis that the related article appears in.
You may also wish to know that The Core Contest is running through the month of March. Head there for further details - they even have actual prizes!
If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews.
