Clermont Gaels Deletion Feb 7
Hey, you just deleted my page Clermont Gaels. I'm aware it was in French but I am actually translating the French page into English and I just copied the source code from the French page so that I would have the exact same layout. I was in the process of translating all of the French when you deleted it. Deletion of Open_Broadcasting_Software
Hi. I wanted to link the Open Broadcasting Software item on OBS to an article on that application, but you've deleted it on account of notability criteria (or rather, moved it to the author's userpage, which I presumably shouldn't link to). Would you consider restoring this article? I know nothing about streaming software, but even I've heard of OBS - I would describe it as "well-known software" and was actually quite surprised it didn't have a page. Note that its website is the top hit on Google for the acronym "OBS", but is now absent from the OBS disambiguation page for lack of an article to link to. Meanwhile, many other items on that page (including another, more obscure, application) have their own articles. This is likely to confuse users searching for "OBS" after encountering the term online. Here is a Google search on "Open Broadcaster Software" for reference. As a final observation, while searching Wikipedia, I found an article for an application called "OpenBroadcaster". If you attempt to search the web for this program, all you'll find is page after page of results for OBS! You actually need to filter out "Open Broadcaster Software" to even find results for that application. Troyp (talk) 11:59, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
- User:Voxletum/Open Broadcaster Software was userfied as a result of an AFD, and has not been changed/improved since then so I don't see any reason to move it back, as there are no reliable sources or references to demonstrate notability at this time. I would advise you to work on it in it's current location, or move it to your own userspace, and then submit it to the WP:AFC system--Jac16888 Talk 19:19, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I understand: was it removed due to notability as stated, or due to the article quality? If the former, why would the article need to be improved to be restored?
- Unless Wikipedia's notability criteria are completely broken, it should be easy to verify the notability of something like OBS. For instance:
- • Google gives 1,770,000 hits for the name in quotes
- • The OBS forum has 30,626 registered members, with 252 users currently online when I just checked (I think I saw the maximum was close to a thousand).
- • I can't get download numbers from either github or the official OBS download from AWS, but the Sourceforge repo (a secondary mirror at the bottom of the first page of search results) shows 2,583 downloads per week. I'm guessing the total weekly downloads are in the five figures.
- I don't think there can any doubt about notability. The article quality is another matter: it didn't look the best (although not the worst either), but that doesn't seem to be the reason it was removed.
- I'm not sure I understand: was it removed due to notability as stated, or due to the article quality? If the former, why would the article need to be improved to be restored?
- I wouldn't be the best person to create a new OBS article. I don't know anything about video capture and streaming software (or particularly care, for that matter). Anyway, it probably doesn't matter. People can find information on it elsewhere. The main problem was that a disambiguation page for OBS existed, but didn't include the most common meaning, which could actively confuse users - and the item I added was removed for lacking a link. However, it now looks like I'll be able to restore the item by linking to another article, so I guess it doesn't matter. In the event that you don't restore it, I'll leave it to OBS users to create/rehabilitate an article for it if they want to. Troyp (talk) 08:38, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
- It was removed due to notability, it is both the notability and the quality that are why I won't restore it. Notability is more than googlehits and forum members, these are irrelevant. Notability needs to be demonstrated through the presence of multiple reliable 3rd party references--Jac16888 Talk 12:01, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

I hope you're doing well. Yesterday I created a page for a leading young luthier under the name "John Vergara" that you deleted today. There was a note that the content was copied from his official website so today he sent an email for Permissions that allow using the content in his bio. This is the Ticket#2015051510021082. Usually when I create pages I receive a note on how to enhance my article before being deleted. Kindly, instruct me on how to avoid deletion and what the issue with the page was. I created several pages for prominent people before and this luthier I am trying to create a page for is taking luthiery to a whole new level in making guitars and Ouds. How can I bring his page to birth without risking its deletion? Thank you for your cooperation — Preceding unsigned comment added by NisreenNasser (talk • contribs) 18:40, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
- I didn't delete it because of the copyright issue, I deleted it because it was blatant advertising, not surprising if the content came from their own website. Please see WP:PROMO, and also WP:REF since the article had little in the way of references. Can I also ask what your connection to the subject is?--Jac16888 Talk 19:05, 15 May 2015 (UTC)

You were mentioned on the AN board . I hate to do this, but this should be straight-up common sense. By the way, it 's not a question of who knows what, (this is in reply to your comment on Mr.X 's page, it's just common sense, that's all. Jac16888,
I saw your post, and didn't want to respond on the village pump, so I'll respond to you here. As far as blanking a page, it depends, in fact, policy permits pages to be blanked under certain conditions (attack pages, BLP, courtesy blanking ). As far as copy and paste, I've been told it breaks attribution, my understand of what that means is that it doesn't identify the author that wrote the copy and pasted item. However, I don't see copy-and-paste as a bad thing, for example, I have four articles on Wikipedia, I worked on them in sandboxes set up on my own page. Once they were ready, I simply copy-and-pasted them into main space, the article was preserved exactly as I'd written it, no changes, nothing like that, so not only do I not see copy-and-paste as bad thing, I've actually done this on my own articles. I see it as a minor issue. I'm not trying to be difficult, dickish or pointy, I literally don't see it as a big issue. However, because you've mentioned it, I will refrain from copying-and-pasting anything, even if I wrote it myself . KoshVorlon Rassekali ternii i mlechnye puti 15:18, 22 May 2015 (UTC)
- The fact is that just blanking a page doesn't achieve anything, even with attack pages and copyvios you leave a tag, and in both of those cases the blanking is largely a legal and protection thing. As for copy and pasting, same thing: attribution is also legal issue, it wouldn't matter if there was only one editor (such as with your sandbox pages) and that editor was doing the copying, but anymore and it becomes a problem, which is why we have the move function, to maintain a page history--Jac16888 Talk 18:13, 22 May 2015 (UTC)

I had given verifiable external links and even linked it with two wiki pages "Shiv Nadar" and "HCL Technologies"
The content was definitely non-promotional. Can you please restore the page or let me know what the reason for deletion ? Thanks.

Why was the ISMTE page I created deleted? I had emailed in that I had the right to copy the page from the ISMTE website. The group is meaningful with 500 members serving the STM publishing community, robust annual meetings, strong sponsor support, great newsletter. It has existed for 8 plus years now. I am no expert on making a page, this was my first. Perhaps I missed something? Glenncollins13 (talk) 23:48, 30 June 2015 (UTC)Glenn
- It was deleted because regardless of the copyright status, there was still nothing in the article to demonstrate notability and there were no reliable 3rd party references. Good meetings and a great newsletter do not make something notable--Jac16888 Talk 18:21, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
Confusion about the removal of the Sean William McLoughlin page.
I was attempting to look into Sean (better known as Jacksepticeye) and saw that you had remove the page. Reason being, there was no evidence of that being a person of importance. Yet when it listed examples of things, it mentioned web as a thing for them to be important on. Sean, known as Jacksepticeye is a major youtuber. Of which Wikipedia has several pages for, examples being https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smosh https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Markiplier and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PewDiePie . He is certainly one of importance, being one of the fastest growing channels. He currently has 5,290,000 + subscribers And as of now 1,961,443,013 video views, and 1,726 videos posted. As for "proof" here is his channel, https://www.youtube.com/user/jacksepticeye/about it states all the stats I mentioned under the about section. I'd say he qualifies as a person of importance, and if possible the page on him should really be re-added. 50.147.32.39 (talk) 02:42, 1 July 2015 (UTC)Husky
- Please read notability, and understand that having lots of followers does not make a person notable. Multiple reliable 3rd party references are required--Jac16888 Talk 18:27, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
Eh doesn't matter anyway, I discovered that he has a page. It's called "Jacksepticeye" instead of using his birth name. So in the end no big deal. the "Strulovitz" entry that you deleted
Dear Sir / Madam,
I would like to explain with a few examples please, why I think the "Strulovitz" entry is worthy of mentioning in Wikipedia:
(1) It's 100% FREE and open and volunteer based.
(2) It tackles IMPORTANT issues:
- the most important questions in math (project Ramanujan 2) here is a video explanation (2 min): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r46H42DhKGY
- all the man-made human extinction risks (project Neo Luddism) as mentioned in Wikipedia's Global Catastrophic Risk! video explanation (2 min): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIfBJ5pmJ1Y
(3) It's treating the subject in a UNIQUE way:
- the closest thing to Ramanujan 2 is either Chegg (which is closed and commercial) or Khan's Academy (which does not treat advanced subjects, and certainly not this thorough). We solve EVERY exercise in the book! Example:
http://www.ramanujan2.org/course/view.php?id=2
- there are no websites that I were able to find. This is not "let's all live in the forest" website. examples:
http://www.neoluddism.org/?page_id=165 http://www.neoluddism.org/?p=1
it's an organization with the same sole purpose as your organization - contributing to and expanding humanity's knowledge.
Please please re-consider your decision to delete...

A2 deletion: a technicality?
Hi, I was surprised by your A2 deletion of Bakó Árpád. Do you mind if I go over it with you?
At WP:PNT you specified that it was an A2 of the Hungarian Wikipedia. But the article there, hu:Bakó Árpád, is in Hungarian. The article that was posted here was in Romanian. Although it say so as explicitly as this, I interpret A2 to provide for deletion of an article in a language other than English if essentially the same article appears in that language on another Wikipedia, rather than in any non-English language. Korean article
Hi there! I just started recently as a new page patroller, and when I came across 야성의_동맹, I originally proposed it for speedy deletion. I then re-read the CSD guidelines, and didn't think to check if it was on the Korean wikipedia. I changed the tag to {{Not English}}. I see that you ended up deleting it under A2. In the future, how can I easily check if an article exists on another language wikipedia (especially if I don't read that language)? Is it as simple as copying and pasting the title into that wikipedia's search bar? What if I don't recognize the language? Thanks! Air ♠ Combat What'sup, dog? 22:57, 11 November 2015 (UTC)
- Hello. There are a few ways, just pasting the title into another Wikipedia's search bar is one way, you could also try a web search on the article title. If you're not sure on the language again google often helps (look at the language prefix of the results e.g. co.uk), alternatively you could try [2], or another thing I do is look at the editors sul page (see mine for example, [3]), it can be found at the bottom of an editors contribution page and it shows the language Wikipedias they've got an account on--Jac16888 Talk 17:51, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Please withdraw or remove the article from deletion!
Again raised to remove the article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramil_Garifullin. Earlier in 2014, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Ramil_Garifullin thanks to Your help, the article was taken out of removal. And here it is again. Please pay attention to the discussion https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Ramil_Garifullin What, in my opinion, involves removal? Here is the arguments :
1. The initiator of removal Fedor Babkin is the assistant Akim Dubrov. That is, there is a tandem Fedor Babkin-Akim Dubrov. Akim Dubrov and Ramil Garifullin is a long – standing opponents and have antagonism. A significant portion of the papers and books of Professor, candidate of psychological Sciences of Ramil Garifullin dedicated to drug prevention. Moreover, Ramil Garifullin in the media acutely raised the issue about the dangers of certain articles in Wikipedia dedicated to drugs and psihodelii. On the other hand, Akim Dubrov is the author and translator of books in Russia dedicated to drug substances and an author of articles on psihodelii in Wikipedia. It is likely that the main antagonism between Akim Dubrov and Ramil Garifullin is now in the risk of publications on drugs and psihodelii in Wikipedia. 2. Earlier this conflict Akim Dubrov - Ramil Garifullin has been associated with the publication of an article about Garifullina negative article about Snowden. Article about Garifullin on Wikipedia was removed in 2013 on the day of publication in the Russian newspaper article about Snowden. 3. Ramil Garifullina good level of scientific citation http://elibrary.ru/author_refs.asp?authorid=295329&SesCookieID=372174247&UserID=175914337. Ramil Garifullin told me that if would be continued against him as slander in the discussion of Wikipedia, he is libel to sue. 4. Moreover, this identity in the English Wikipedia is seen as a well-known Russian journalist and writer, not as a scientist. Although the number of scientific articles and monographs enough (watch out links http://elibrary.ru/author_refs.asp?authorid=295329&SesCookieID=372174247&UserID=175914337. Therefore it is incorrect to use the same discussion for deletion on the Russian Wikipedia. 5. The Internet is the namesake and namesake, Ramil Garifullina, who is really engaged in pseudoscience and is in jail. It's a different person. Not to be confused! So it looks like slander. 6. Based on this English article was formed a modified Russian text to Russian Wikipedia, which upheld the administrator --be-nt-all Here is his assessment: the Draft looked, the chances of successful recovery are good, although above the neutral still need to be work --the be-nt-all 07:40, November 25, 2015 (UTC). This text was revised and edited based discussions-2013. Here is the translation: 7. But Akim Dubrow was removed for some reason https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%A3%D1%87%D0%B0%D1%81%D1%82%D0%BD%D0%B8%D0%BA:Irek_Minnullin Irek Minnullin 22:27, 24 November 2015 (UTC) . 8. be-nt-all gave me an assignment to work on the draft is not directly on RS, but on the appropriate subpage: User:Irek Minnullin/Garifullin Ramil, Rosiewicz --be-nt-all16:43, 26 December 2015 (UTC) 9. Ask the participants to carefully examine all links and articles Garifullina and not to succumb to provocations tandem Fedor Babkin-Akim Dubrov. Article revised in the light of ancient comments-2013. The article is about a famous essayist and writer. The merit of Ramil Garifullina as a scientist is sufficient. 10. Please withdraw or remove the article from deletion! 11. And think, what are the motives of the authors of the Russian Wikipedia to put the question of removal of articles from the English Wikipedia. 87.117.189.39 (talk) 02:15, 2 January 2016 (UTC)87.117.189.39 (talk) 02:21, 2 January 2016 (UTC)Irek Minnullin (talk) 02:23, 2 January 2016 (UTC)

Good afternoon! First allow me to wish you a joyful, blessed and successful 2016.
I've recently joined WIKIPEDIA with the intentions of publishing information about a radio show, hosted in my country (Dominican Republic), and was very excited with the idea of being able to stamp the story of that show in this site, just so anyone interested could find at the first source people go to get reliable information, which is this site.
Of course I, myself, am one of the many millions of Internet users that rely on this site to gather facts and notes, so being able to post here was a very exciting experience of which I was looking forward to go through.
Saturday my post for "Alarma De La Mañana" was published so the first thing I did was to share the link to the producers and hosts of the said show. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Alarma_De_La_Ma%C3%B1ana They did, as well, shared that information on their personal social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) as on the show's official account too. Instantly the regular audience of the show started clicking the link, sharing it and replying to it.
Not only that but, being today the first day of the show [after the publication] the announcement was also made during the show. Again, people started searching for the link and some also made phone calls to the radio station, stating -with joy- that they were proud that "our show was on WIKIPEDIA"...
Until one of the fans, via Twitter, shared the notice posted on the page saying that "No credible indication of importance (individuals, animals, organizations, web content, events)" were the reason why the post was taken down. As soon as that information was noticed by the hosts of the show they did the announcement that "we're so insignificant to WIKIPEDIA that they do not believe we're worth being portrayed in their website".
Given the fact that they're far more useless information (not only on WIKIPEDIA, but in the whole Internet) I can't help but to come and, humbly ask you what was the criteria in which you've sustained the reason to take down the post.
I don't mean to disrespect nor to tell you how to do your job, but given the fact that the information was valid, was true, was properly redacted, all facts were real, there were no imaging infringement and the show has being on the air for nearly four years now I find it hard to understand your reasons.
Also, if there's any way that the audience (that now are very displeased with this whole issue) can make a request to have a "Alarma De La Mañana" page posted in WIKIPEDIA, we would appreciate it if you let us know.
Please, do not hesitate to give me any inputs you might think would be helpful for us to bring back the page. I hope you find it in yourself to reconsider putting it back in this site.
Should you request any further information regarding this matter feel free to contact me as often as you consider possible. Yours truly, Karina Navarro-Baez/ Tirana69 KNB T/69— Preceding unsigned comment added by Tirana69 (talk • contribs) 23:49, 11 January 2016
- There were multiple issues with the article as it was created. The first and key to it's deletion was it's notability, this was not a judgement of the subject but rather the determining factor for all articles on Wikipedia, they must demonstrate WP:NOTABILITY as the linked page describes, and they must do so through the use of reliable 3rd party references, of which there were none. Secondly the article as clearly written from the point of view of a fan, it was overly promotional and not neutral. Finally, it was not written in English, which is a problem since this is the English language Wikipedia--Jac16888 Talk 00:07, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
Nice comment
very nice comment for Alfa Romeo Avio, your answer doesnt help anybody, so pls avoid ansvering if you dont have anything to say. The page is tagged because its ongoing project, and added for Pages_needing_translation_into_English for reason the template asked for it, and that template is for rough translations, so please dont add any "clever" asnwers in future, thanks. I can ask help if I want, Wikipedia is still "group work" if you know. Your comment makes that rough translation template useless, so pls avoid commenting those in the future, or if you want ask they remove that template. -->Typ932 T·C 12:11, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
- The rough translation template is intended to point out that somebody has created a bad article that needs dealing with, its not for somebody to intentionally create a bad article and then leave it for somebody else to fix, PNT is not your personal clean-up crew. Like I said, if you can't do it yourself, WP:TRANSLATION is the proper policy--Jac16888 Talk 17:43, 14 January 2016 (UTC)
