Mahatma Gandhi New Series
The Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series of banknotes will be issued by the Reserve Bank of India as the legal tender of Indian rupee beginning from 10 November 2016. Announced on 8 November 2016, it follows the Indian 500 and 1000 rupee currency demonetization and it will succeed the Mahatma Gandhi Series of banknotes.
