@Aldnonymous: Thanks for noticing! It's always good to get positive feedback. I will correct you, however, I don't hate paid editors, rather it is paid editing that is hateful. It is tearing down a wonderful structure that has been built up by many volunteers, that provides good information to whoever has access to the internet. If that information is poisoned, and people can't trust us, then the whole structure may collapse.
Your post reminded me of a news story from a couple of decades ago. After the fall of the Soviet Union people started cutting down and selling copper cable from high power electrical transmission systems (nominally still in use). I don't hate those folks who cut down the cable - they were doing what they had to do to survive. I did hate the fact that the transmission systems were being destroyed. It just seemed like there must be a pretty simple enforcement system that would stop the destruction. Everybody likely knew who was buying the cable - these folks could be stopped fairly simply if anybody took the obvious steps. Similarly, most people likely knew who was cutting the cable or where to look to stop folks from cutting more. So the system was messed up, but the parts of the system that led to the destruction of the cable could easily be fixed. The actual folks who cut the cable, in my mind, were less responsible than the authorities who couldn't be bothered to take a few minimal steps. That's my reading in any case.

He is not an administrator, heaven only knows why (too much sense?), but a content contributor par excellence, with in excess of 31,000 edits, 65% of them in article space. He is a generalist's generalist, with his top contributions ranging from Bernard Madoff to Media, Pennsylvania. But his prodigious talents as a contributor are not the only assets he brings to the project. No one has fought longer and more valiantly against paid editing. Do you know how to do this?

I'm trying to revert Evergreen Cemetery (Adams County, Pennsylvania) back to its original name, Evergreen Cemetery (Gettysburg, Pennsylvania). (Technically, the original name was Evergreen Cemetery (Gettysburg, PA).) The directions say an administrator must do the move. Please take a look at the article and see if you agree. I appreciate your efforts. The article on Evergreen Cemetery and the one on its gatehouse seem to go to strange lengths to downplay their connections to Gettysburg. To me, Evergreen Cemetery (Gettysburg, Pennsylvania) is a FAR more useful name for the average user, even if the cemetery technically is outside the borough. I didn't find the Articles for Deletion discussion until after I left you the message.
I may be heading to Gettysburg next weekend. My nephew -- a sophomore at Penn -- wants to borrow a car to go to Gettysburg. If I tag along, I'll try to get photos of the last 20-or-so monuments that need images.

I fail to understand why you reverted my edit on SpotOption, and your post to WP:COIN doesn't explain anything with regards to my edit. I removed contentious material about a living person sourced to an unreliable source, in accordance with guidelines and policy. Please revert back to my version. @Bri: I'm not entirely sure where the interviewer got that, probably the talk page at Jimbo Wales which I mentioned to her as background material. I did notice a couple of times she quoted others uncredited. Maybe @Nagle: as well. 3 points:
  • I'm sure the Times of Israel knows the proper fair use standards in Israel.
  • If that was you being quoted - I think you got some extra mileage beyond want you expected when you wrote it.
  • Thanks, just thanks. If there is anything I can do to give proper credit, please just let me know.

I thought at first it was a certain British admin, but it turned out not to be (you're right, Jimbo talk Archive 164). However, they did quote me elsewhere w/o credit: "...badly polluted by promotional editors..." Zigzig20s I briefly looked at the two nominations and the nom photos. I won't have a chance to do a thorough reading until Monday, but it looks to me like 2 buildings in a similar style (but 1 without a tower) at the same address, but with different coordinates! And similar names. Something has to give. If you are in the neighborhood, visiting in person would probably help. I'll try looking at Google street view now. Join us for an evening of social Wikipedia editing at the Museum of Modern Art Library's third annual Wiki Loves Pride Edit-a-thon, during which we will create, update, and improve Wikipedia articles pertaining to LGBT art, culture and history.

All are invited, with no specialized knowledge of the subject or Wikipedia editing experience required.

Themes for this event include art related to HIV/AIDS activism and on LGBTQ artists of the African Diaspora as part of the Black Lunch Table project.

Experienced Wikipedians will be on-hand to assist throughout the day. Please bring your laptop and power cord; we will have library resources, WiFi, and a list of suggested topics on hand.

Before you archived, I put the "do not archive until" comment to prevent the bot archiving. Allow me to ask you a few questions to clarify your suggestion. Which talk page did you mean, the wikipage's talk page or the corresponding AfD project's talk page ? Should we remove the AfD notice box on top of the wikipage ? Also, your interpretation that "there are enough references in the physics literature, but this is written for mathematicians so is more like original research " is accurate, though with a subtle correction. The page/theory is written by physicists and for physicists. The previous version, however, did not have enough references on earlier papers so that a mathematician flagged it for deletion. This mistake, however, is corrected and now the page has all the references on the history of the theory.[reply]

If you want to dispute the speedy deletion nomination, then follow the instructions in the template and use Template:di-replaceable fair use disputed. Moreover, you assertion that the book is discussed in detail seems incorrect; the book is mentioned by name a single time in Nathalia Holt#Works. The link to the external media site is not really sufficient per WP:NFCCP. In addition, as mentioned in WP:NFC#cite_note-3, it's not the book, but the cover art itself which needs to be the subject of discussion. If you can add discusion of this cover to the article (perhaps citing the external media as a reliable source), then this might possibly be considered NFCCP compliant. An alternative would be to create a stand-alone article for the book itself if you feel it meets WP:NBOOK. -- Marchjuly (talk) 23:16, 28 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Parker Metal Decoration Company Plant

Hi. In 2012 you uploaded File:Baltimore Parker Metal.JPG and added it to Parker Metal Decoration Company Plant. A few days ago an IP added a paragraph to the article in this edit, claiming it's not the right building. I have no idea if he's right or not, but I temporarily removed the image until you have a chance to check it out.
