Jasidih Junction (station code: JSME) is the railway station serving Jasidih which is the satellite town of Deoghar city in the Deoghar district in the Indian state of Jharkhand.

Administration

Jasidih Junction is under the Asansol division of Eastern Railway zone of the Indian Railway.

Line and location

Jasidih Junction is connected to metropolitan areas of India, Delhi–Kolkata main line via Mugalsarai–Patna route. Jasidih is located at 24°19′N 86°23′E / 24.31°N 86.39°E / 24.31; 86.39.[2] It has an average elevation of 271 metres (889 ft). The 72 kilometres (45 mi) segment from Jasidih to Dumka became operational on 12 July 2011.[3]

Further extension

The railways have proposed a Jasidih–bypass line after construction of which trains from Bhagalpur and Dumka can run upto Asansol and Dhanbad without loco reversal at Jasidih, also saving considerable time for the passengers. Deoghar Junction is being developed as a major halt station to decongest Jasidih and avoid a delay of more than 30 minutes for an engine change at Jasidih.

Facilities

The major facilities available are retiring room, waiting hall, computerized reservation facility, reservation counter, 2 wheeler and 4 wheeler vehicle parking.[4] The vehicles are allowed to enter the station premises. The station also has STD/ISD/PCO telephone booth, ATM counter, toilets, refreshment room, tea stall and book stall.[5]
