Dasheri mangoes

Dasheri is a variety of mango grown in different parts of North India, Nepal and Pakistan. Malihabad, Uttar Pradesh is the largest producer of the Dasheri mango. It is also grown in the state of Andhra Pradesh

History

In the 18th century, the Dasheri mango first appeared in the gardens of Nawab of Lucknow. Since then numbers of Dasheri plants have been produced and planted throughout India. People from village Dasheri near Kakori, Uttar Pradesh have the mother plant of Dasheri mango which gave this variety of mango same name. This mother plant belonged to the orchards of Late Mohd. Ansar Zaidi .This mother plant is said to be around 200 years old.

Exports

The Dasheri mango is exported internationally to various countries including Singapore, Hong Kong, The Philippines, Malaysia, and other countries in South-East Asia.
