Igbo Canadians are citizens of Canada that are of whole or part Igbo descent. The Igbo are an ethnic group from Nigeria. The 2001 Canadian census put the number of people who identified as Igbo at 1,200. Because of nationality, many Igbo people would have identified as Nigerian. The number of self-identified Nigerians according to the same census was 9,530.[1]
