This article is about the modern day L.A. Wolves FC of the United Premier Soccer League. For the original team that played in the United Soccer Association in 1967 and the North American Soccer League in 1968, see Los Angeles Wolves.

L.A. Wolves FC is an American amateur soccer club based in Torrance, California. They are named after the Los Angeles Wolves who played in the United Soccer Association in 1967 and in the North American Soccer League in 1968.

The club has three teams which are L.A. Wolves (United Premier Soccer League), L.A. W17 (United Premier Soccer League), the Lady Wolves, and the Youth Squad.

History

Club owner and UPSL Commissioner Yan Skwara re-launched L.A. Wolves FC in 2014, after taking a number of names for a club into consideration. The club was founded with the aspirations of turning professional in mind.[1][2] L.A. Wolves play their home games at Toyota Sports Complex in Torrance and are a current member of the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL), a USASA Premier league.

On August 30, 2014 the L.A. Wolves played their first match, a 6–0 victory in a friendly over the Orange County Crew SC at Toyota Sports Complex.

U.S. Open Cup

On Saturday, November 21, 2016 the Wolves FC played a U.S. Open Cup qualifying match versus Cal FC, which the Wolves won by a score of 2–1. The Wolves then advanced past Ventura County Fusion of the Premier Development League by way of protest and disqualification, due to Ventura's fielding of an ineligible player. L.A. Wolves next overcame Orange County Blues FC of the United Soccer League by a score of 4–2 in penalty kicks, before falling to fellow UPSL club La Máquina FC thus being eliminated from the Open Cup.

The Wolves played Liga MX's Monarcas Morelia U20 squad on November 13, 2014, as a friendly, in Inglewood, CA. They tied 4–4.

L.A. Wolves FC vs Club America U-20

On Sunday, July 12, 2015 the L.A. Wolves hosted a match against a Club América U-20 youth squad at Mira Costa High School Soccer Stadium in Manhattan Beach, CA. L.A. Wolves lost the match by a score of 0–5.
