[edit]

There's no good reason for this to be separate from the rest of Pavel Durov. This is just one (probably short) episode in his life, and having a separate article for it smacks of recentism. GenevieveDEon (talk) 21:33, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Persona non grata

[edit]

I do not currently have the bandwidth to look this up so I have not removed the dubious tag, but there is in fact, or at least has been, such a thing as a French citizen being banished from France, and this sentence, I am fairly certain, was given to some Vichy figures after the Liberation of France.

So it's not as nonsensical as somebody thinks it is, although I haven't looked up whether this is what happened here exactly, or whether the cases I am thinking of were under the Fourth or the Fifth Republic, or subsequently invalidated for whatever other reasons. Ivan Zhdanov doesn't live in Russia but his reaction is under "in Russia"

[edit]

Zhdanov is wanted in Russia and has lived in exile since 2019. Is it still the normal practice on Wikipedia to list Russians as being "in Russia" simply based on their citizenship rather than where they live? Daisy Blue (talk) 19:56, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Timothy Koskie

[edit]

Per [1], two big paragraphs based on the opinions of one researcher, regardless of how much of an expert they are or validity or their opinions, is clearly undue weight for an analysis section. Koskie isn't a notable researcher either. The section otherwise relies largely on a single source which is the other issue. Please trim and summarise his analysis to a single paragraph. CNC (talk) 12:34, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed both those paragraphs, as being greatly excessive POV-pushing. I also removed the bit about Russian military Telegram channels, as it was essentially based on hearsay. GenevieveDEon (talk) 10:02, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Arrest of Pavel DurovIndictment and arrest of Pavel Durov – Matching Indictment and arrest of Julian Assange following indictment of Pavel Durov [2][3][4][5] Sir Kenneth Kho (talk) 21:39, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Support, and agree with others above that based on the ordering of events, the move should go to Arrest and indictment of Pavel Durov. Noble Attempt (talk) 04:09, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have reverted this misguided closure. This discussion should be open for at least a week and the closer shouldn't be the nominator who has a conflict-of-interest here. Let an uninvolved, experienced editor review this discussion and close this discussion. This article also has an open AFD and articles being discussed at AFD should not be moved until that discussion is closed. Liz Read! Talk! 23:33, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:EDITATAFD moving the article doesn’t appear to be prohibited, just that when such action is taken notice should be given in the AfD discussion. I don’t see anything controversial with this move, but your objections based on an uninvolved editor seems appropriate. Kcmastrpc (talk) 01:18, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
