Touring members

To add a note here, its best for the main touring members to be mentioned so that the band isn't seen as a solo artist. Please do not remove them. --Archiderp (talk) 23:15, 21 June 2016 (UTC)

But the band is a "solo artist" as of album five as mentioned in interviews, the album booklet, etc. There's no reason to list touring members there just to make it seem as if he's not a solo artist (not sure why you'd want wikipedia to imply other than the truth anyway?), they've got their own space in the touring member place below as seen on other band's pages. @Nitromaster: I feel that the touring members should stay there rather than just Urie because Panic! at the Disco has always been represented and mentioned as a band, including Weekes, Harris, and Pawlovich. Even after the departure of the members, leaving Urie as the only remaining official member, they have still been mentioned as a band. As I mentioned in my talk page before, the No Doubt article has included it's touring members in the lead as well as the infobox. I would like to help get several P!aTD-related articles to GA status, including this one. It looks pretty close; what say the editors of this page? When I originally nominated Fall Out Boy I think I may have had only 10 or so edits on the page. Panic! at the Disco → Panic at the Disco – Per MOS:TM / WP:TITLETM, to remove a purely decorative exclamation point that is not included consistently in practice (e.g., as with "macy★s" and "skate."). Wikipedia guidelines discourage this sort of decorative punctuation. Per this article, the exclamation point isn't even usually used by the band members themselves and was officially dropped from the name at some point in time. The frontman said he never used it and the guitarist also said it was a bit annoying. A previous discussion on the article talk page in 2013 favored removal of the exclamation point, but the attempt to move the article failed due to inadequate account privilege. (See the discussion section entitled "The !exclamation!".) The article has been moved back and forth before (and an RM in 2009 decided to add the exclamation mark). Since someone suggested nominating the article for GA evaluation, it seems desirable to settle this properly. —BarrelProof (talk) 19:01, 22 March 2017 (UTC) --Relisting.   • Oppose. I wouldn't count an exclamation point among the "special characters" MOS:TM says to avoid, especially since in this case it's not a stylization. Since the band briefly dropped the exclamation point and later re-added it, having the article titled "Panic at the Disco" would make it look out of date. There's also the fact that, outside of the period where they weren't using it, every album cover and single includes the exclamation point, and since they've readded it, it appears to be continually consistently used.   • Sure. Here are all the reviews listed for their latest album on Wiki, all of which use "Panic!": [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]. Here are the most recent articles on Google News I plucked about the band, which once again all use Panic!: [9] [10] [11] [12] [13] So yes, as far as I can see the exclamation point is much more common than dropping it.   • Look at the official music videos the exclamation point is used in their name. Removing the exclamation point is point less and would confuse readers. Also the exclamation point is used on all of their studio album covers except for one. Just because it was taken out of their name for Pretty odd and the band members say it is a little annoying does not mean we should remove it. The exclamation point is a part of their name. In the lead, could someone add "which was released in January" or something like that at the end of the last sentence? Something about its release. It doesn't make sense at this point just to talk about Hallelujah hasn't been released yet. Not done: ""Hallelujah" was released 4/15/2015 and Death of a Bachelor on 1/15/2016. Unless you're somehow posting this via time machine, those dates have both come and gone so there's no reason to talk about them not being released yet. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 21:27, 31 October 2017 (UTC)

Not done for now: This is why the instruction say to use the form " Please change X to Y. This is the sentence to which you are referring, yes? "In April 2015, "Hallelujah" was released as the first single from Panic! at the Disco's fifth studio album, Death of a Bachelor (2016)."
That is in perfect tense, in other words, an action ("was released") that has been completed. I can see no suggestion that there is somehow an upcoming release that will happen (future tense). Adding "which was released in January" would only further confuse the matter by redundantly adding another perfect tense qualifier yet specifying the time ambiguously (which January)? Personally, I hate "change X to Y" because that inherently prevents the addition of new content. But your point is good. I'll just edit it when it's unprotected in a few weeks, and maybe someone can fix it from there. You do agree that it doesn't make sense to abruptly stop after talking about Hallelujah, right? Or, you could just register for an account. It's pretty simple and low-risk.
That said, I'm still not understanding why this one sentence seems to jarring to you. The lead paragraph is supposed to summarize a subject. Details are in the body of the article. In the case of bands, the summary is usually chronological and ends with the most recent significant event. That may be a hiatus, break-up, death, or other such major change in the band's status but it is just as common to end with the most recent release of music. The latter is the case here. If/when something more significant happens, then that will be the last sentence in the lead and the last part of the article body.
Lastly, "Change X to Y doesn't have to eliminate new content. E.g.: "Change 'Charles XX's coronation as Karalius of Dorpat is upcoming,' to 'Charles XX's coronation as Karalius of Dorpat is upcoming on January 1, 2018,' is a perfectly valid request. More importantly, it tells the person responding exactly where you want the addition.

@Charminglysupernatural: Actually, she has been added to the page already. She is mentioned in the lead paragraph: "Since 2015, vocalist Urie is the only official member in the band, supported on tours by guitarist Kenneth Harris, drummer Dan Pawlovich, and bassist Nicole Row." And in the band members section under the touring members section and the history section. She is not mentioned in the infobox becuase she is only a touring member. Original Line-up.

Brendon Urie wasn’t a part of the original line-up. He wasn’t supposed to be in the band at all actually. They needed a backup guitar players so they chose Brendon and he was eventually promoted to singer after Ryan found out he could sing. Allileigh989 (talk) 04:26, 12 August 2018 (UTC)

Brent Wilson

I know this is old news, and already much debate about it already exits. It's about if Wilson actually performed on the band s debut, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out. The band states he did not contribute; however, Wilson himself claims he did. I found evidence that Wilson did in fact contributed to the album as evidenced in this video. Now you may argue he was just there doing nothing, which I understand where you're coming from. But the band stated that he was just not there, in general, which seems to be false according to the video. --1.252.81.75 (talk) 23:57, 18 September 2014 (UTC)

Don't know why this is the general consensus on Wikipedia, but you can be in a band without performing on the album. Brent Wilson was a member of this band and not just a touring member Thetalkingheads (talk) 21:33, 6 December 2014 (UTC)

The source connected to the quote even contradicts when you read it, the previous person either misinterpreted or did not read it. @MadGuy7023: Much of the evidence right now is coming from Panic! at the Disco's official YouTube channel. The description of all their music videos and audio tracks were changed to say "The band consists of Brendon Urie, Dan Pawlovich, Nicole Row, and Mike Naran."

This does seem like some sort of status has changed regarding them but we're still unsure. Brendon hasn't mentioned if they've contributed to the newest album in any way, and likewise, we don't even have an official statement, to begin with. - K-popguardian (talk) 23:32, 3 June 2022 (UTC)

Brendon said literally one time about it being his "solo project". That shouldn't mean changing the entire format of the article to list solo act in multiple places. He's said in multiple interviews it's "his band".
