The Tropical Mardi Gras, known before 2015 as the Cairns Tropical Pride Festival,[1] is an annual LGBT pride parade and festival in Cairns, Australia, the largest LGBT event in northern Queensland.[2] The first event was held in 2006, and was originally held in conjunction with the Cairns Festival before changing its name and date in 2015.[3] The festival features a variety of activities, including boat cruises, pool parties, art exhibitions and a Fair Day with parade floats and community recognition awards.[4] In 2016, the Fair Day also featured a same-sex wedding expo.[2]
