Hi, I was away for 1 week. I've noticed today that Anittas was blocked. I suggest to open a RfC.

My relationship with Anittas during the latest period was not good, because he was uncivil (with other people, not with me, but anyway it was under my nose). Although I do understand that he talks 100 times more than he means, it still is a pretty unpleasant talk. I was very harsh towards him during the last time I talked with him. Perhaps too harsh. I was going to reply him with a list of things I hold against him. During my time away I realized that none of those issues taken separately are serious, but there are many of them. Basically, it all rotates around Anittas' predilect method of calling people Muntenian/etc or other ways in a pejorative way. At first I thought it is a problem of education. Then I realized Anittas simply got used to this and does not realize that this makes other people uncomfortable. Anyway. My personal suggestion would be to keep the block for talk pages (where 100% of his uncivil behavior occurred), but let him edit the encyclopedia (as he was not uncivil during edits). The motivation for the block I suggest: "please, stop using WP as a chat space". After some time, he could apply for unblock, but I do not want to speculate when and how. Let me emphasize again: all his past bad record was about his behavior in talk pages and in his own user space. I do not remember him vandalizing encyclopedia pages or doing bad faith edits, on the contrary. So, I suggest the block to be specific to the area where there is a problem. :Dc76\talk 16:54, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for adding yourself to this list. The title of the noticeboard is perhaps one of the worst titles that exist in WP, and I am the author of that monstrosity. Is there a Wiki-project Moldova? Maybe this noticeboard can be redirected/renamed there... We lack many basic things:

  • we don't even have a good idea about what pages exist about Moldova, what pages are needed, there is no invetory
  • we need people interested in creating pages for localities, and I mean pages better than "X is a village in Moldova". Personally, I was interested in creating a list of all localities: by administrative division and by name (alphabetic).
  • other stuff that will emerge as high priority once a good inventory of existing articles is made

In short, thank you for joinging the Sisifian club. :) :Dc76\talk 17:07, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

I noticed your work on this article. Although I am sure you are doing this, please do not forget to:

  • move all information that you erase into "sub-articles". If you find the information not enough reliable, add [dubiousdiscuss]. But don't erase technical data, such as number of inhabitants, altogether. It is very hard to bring such numbers again.
  • I do understand the reason for erasing "See also", but then you might want to link those articles inside the text, so that one can find some link to them from Moldova (obviously, Moldovan wine or Moldovan cuisine do not have to link, but foreign relations I think can be and should be).
  • if you need help, let me know. I can, for example, compare two versions, and add info that was eliminated from Moldova to sub-articles, and then we can read those, and clean them in their own turn. Or other help that you find needed. Let's divide the work and have more of it done.
Anyway, thank you very much for your interest in the subject.:Dc76\talk 18:29, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your detailed explanation. It does help to see the whole plan, and it is a good one. I'll help little by little, time permitting. For spelling and style, here is an excellent guy: User:Thiseye. He even enjoys it.:Dc76\talk 14:08, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome!

Balti

[edit]
  • Hello there. I do not see any need to discuss the spelling of Balti in English. Unless you can provide an official source stating that the name of the Balti city is spelled otherwise in English language, it simply cannot be a matter of a debate. As for moving the talk page with all the sensitive issues, I agree with you, especially with those that were stated by me and further deleted by someone (have no time to check who did this). Could you help me please with moving the talk page, as you seem to know how to do this. Otherwise I will do it myself, but it might take more time. Thanks again and have a nice WE. Moldopodo (talk) 08:59, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Moldopodo
  • Ok, I understood the move function, and have already tried it. But indeed it does not work with Balti, as other pages exist already. Will you make the request to move then? By the way, the same applies to Chisinau and other Moldavian localities. Thnaks in advance if you do at least part of requests. Moldopodo (talk) 16:03, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Moldopodo
  • It's done, thanks. However, I do not see any controversy or issue for discussion here. It's a simple matter of correct spelling in English language. Moldopodo (talk) 16:58, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Moldopodo

To TSO1D: Hi, I made some edits to the intro + 2 sections of Bălţi. Could you, please, copyedit that part. Thank you.:Dc76\talk 16:46, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank you very much. please, also change Elizavetovca --> Elisaveta in the infobox. (i don't do it to avoid creating edit conflict). I will not edit more today this article. BTW, I'm sorry, lately I am busy and don't have enough time for WP... you see, Wp is not something I can do 5 minutes at a time, so I am very reluctant to start if I know I only have 10-15 mins to give. :Dc76\talk 17:31, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
please, see this, law # 764 /2001 ("Lege privind organizarea administrativ-teritoriala a Republicii Moldova"). You have to download the .zip file, unzip it, and read the law in .doc format. See annex 2. The good thing is that they mentain it up to date, e.g. they made some minor changed in 2004 and 2005 (some villages became commune or vice-versa), and they introduce the changes in the 2001 text (i.e. it is the 2001 with all the subsequent revisions). The name "Elizavetovka" is how the village was called in Russian during the Soviet period, so naturally there would be references to it occasionally in press, even Romanianized version like k-->c. But these are not official acts. :Dc76\talk 19:05, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
And by the way, I was also wrong, it sis Elizaveta.:Dc76\talk 19:07, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I have a technical question. How does one rename a category: e.g. Balti to Bălţi? There is no move function... :Dc76\talk 16:20, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

I think a meditation and suitable action by admins is need to settle down these series of edit disputes, incivility and wikistalking. As you know, User:Patriotmissile reported a vandalism by Sennen goroshi, but to be correct, he got the wrong place to appeal for the matter because Patriotmissile is relatively a newbie. The edit warrings are not simply conflicts between nationalistic views and Sennen goroshi. The original problem was caused by User:Jjk82 with his unverifiable bogus links and unrelated citations, so I restored from his edits to the last revision. However, Sennen goroshi's been witkistalking me ever since Sep. As the result Sennen reverted my edits and others to provoke disputes without any consensus.

In addition, as the process, he recently removed my opinions at an unfinished discussion and his talk page. As I point out his serious POV issue regarding animal cruelty of Korean director, Kim Ki-duk, he simply reverted my comment to ignore and chases my edits. I think his opinion like below are problematic.

+Animal Cruelty [2] have there been any more documented cases of this barbaric director committing acts of animal cruelty? or were these disgusting cases of barbarism only in this one sick movie?Sennen goroshi (talk) 06:44, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Besides, he is not in a position to threat and give possible blocks to other editors as if he were an admins. He is the one to initiate this problems. On contradictory, Sennen has warned other people on the other side and reverts civil advices and comments from them. As the result of his ongoing disruptions on Korean related articles, several editors are enraged by his edits.

Could you closely look into Special:Contributions/Sennen_goroshi and Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/3RR#User:Patriotmissile_reported_by_User:Sennen_goroshi_.28Result:_page_protected.29. I could've reported this directly to WP:ANI, but I don't know the place is right place or not. Thanks. --Appletrees (talk) 18:47, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Regarding Bălţi

[edit]

Regarding Bălţi, you seem to be one of the editors edit warring, so I'm not about to protect it, just in case. I'll keep an eye on the article though, and ban any editors who start warring, so a page lock shouldn't be needed. Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 01:49, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Regarding unblock and AN/I thread

[edit]

Hello, as you are the unblocking admin I'd like to let you know I have given my 2 cents on the block [3]. Happy editing. KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 10:40, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, the same applies to me, I should have contacted you first instead of unblocking him. Also, when I said that the block was mistaken, I did not mean that no vandalism had been committed, but only that the punishment was a bit too fast and too harsh. I mean disregarding the self-revert, there was only one case of silly vandalism, and that should have resulted in a warning, and an immediate indef block seemed pretty extreme. Anyway, you're doing a great job fighting vandalism, just remember that some of these users who make a few silly edits now may become interested in the project and could just want to experiment, so it's usually best to warn the users before blocking them (which I see you are usually doing in most cases). Good Luck! TSO1D (talk) 15:21, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
I understand where you are coming from, but the way I saw it is like this:
  • Brand new user whose first edit is to vandalize Jimbo's page. Ignore the self revert for a second, how in the world does a newbie find Jimbo's page first? He then blames it on his sister.
  • The page the user created and then had deleted wasn't a simple {{db-bio}}, rather it was an atttack page. Doesn't look good to me so far.
  • Vandalizing the Melon page and then blaming it on his brother this time. AGF can only be followed so far imo.
I'm not mad or upset about the unblock, I don't rule Wikipedia and I welcome everyone to review my actions. I just would have preferred a consultation with me first, so that I could give a my reasons as stated here and on AN/I of why the block was placed. If anyone dis-agreed with the block after that, then I would unblock the user myself with an apology. In this case it doesn't much matter anymore. Thanks for the message I do appreciate it. KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 18:40, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Moving of monarchy articles

[edit]

I noted your comment at the 3RR noticeboard; however, I'm confused by what you mean by "others" who've said there's no consensus. Only one person, as far as I can see, says there's no consensus. Who are these others? And, further, what is a consensus if not general agreement on which of various options has the most merit? --G2bambino (talk) 02:42, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

If a 2/3 majority (10-5) isn't a consensus? What would be a consensus? 11-4, 12-3 etc. I'm not being sarcastic TSO1D, I'm just trying to understand things. I'd like to note - I offered a final Poll on Options #1 & #7, but TharkunColl rejected the idea. GoodDay (talk) 02:48, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Re:Above and comments on British monarchy

[edit]

Salut TSO1D. Thank you for you comments on British monarchy. I somewhat agree with what you have said but this and other related articles have been talked to death and that "one" person above is what people in my field of study like to call a "filibuster" in the sense that any and all proposals will be "defeated" because of the actions of one person. The only way things have gotten through in these articles is by editors invoking WP:IAR because this "one" person's actions are preventing any and all progress to improving the articles and the encyclopedia.  Avec nat...Wikipédia Prends Des Forces.  04:22, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Salut TSO1D, Well of course there were more than one opposition to the move (but the others are willing to compromise or were indifferent), however, people were notified of the proposal to move 16 or 17 pages, and a notice had been placed on the article page itself informing people that there was a discussion going on. A supermajority (10/15 or 66.6%) of the people that responded, supported the proposal. Although we can't exactly define it as consensus and Wikipedia is not a democracy, I find that when dealing with such article, especially ones with disruptive editors, like the one in question, this is the only avenue that progress can take, other than that we can go nowhere just because an editor decides to pull a filibuster. Not only that, but all the other related article have been moved without much opposition, although I don't have an opinion on whether it should be "Monarchy of X" or "Xian/ish/er monarchy" but I'm a person who likes to standardize things and to have consistency, and so this is the only article that has been moved and then reverted by a disruptive editor, who clearly will not heed or compromise with other editors (as seen here, in which he was willing to duplicate the article but creating it with a different name). This editor is disruptive, and he has been blocked before for 3RR four times, and incivility three times. This clearly shows that he is not willing to budge and probably has made it clear that he will continue to be disruptive, therefore becoming an impediment any progress or change to the article and the encyclopedia as a whole.  Avec nat...Wikipédia Prends Des Forces.  10:35, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Well, I myself am a sysop, so are you suggesting that I could move it?  Avec nat...Wikipédia Prends Des Forces.  15:34, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Okiedokie.  Avec nat...Wikipédia Prends Des Forces.  15:52, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Monarchy of the United Kingdom

[edit]

I wonder sometimes TSO1D; if editors had called for all the Commonwealth realm articles to be moved to X monarchy, would thing have gone more smoothly. Would Tharky have cooperated. GoodDay (talk) 16:02, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

On further reflection, I think Tharky's main problem was having the British page lumped together with the 15 other Commonwealth realm pages (fearing it showed equality, which they legally are). I regret that Tharky couldn't resolve his ownership issues with British related articles. GoodDay (talk) 16:21, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Could you, please, delete this. I split a template (Transnistria/Territory) into 2 (administration and conflict), but when moving the name, forgot the word "Template:". Sorry. I have corrected now, but I can not delete. Thank you very much. :Dc76\talk 17:14, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Bender

[edit]

I've seen in London (disambiguation) that articles about cities were titled either "Name, Province" or "Name, Country". Since the status of Transnistria is disputed, I thought it's better to put Bender, Moldova. But if you say the correct is Bender (city), I'll have to agree. (You're an administrator and I suppose you know better these technical details)Xasha (talk) 10:47, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Hello. You previously expressed concern with the treatment of "polarization" expressed in the Hillary Rodham Clinton#Cultural and political image article section. This material has been reworked to try to address such concerns. And mention of "polarization" has been removed from the lead section. Please give it a read now and comment on Talk:Hillary Rodham Clinton as to your reaction. Thanks. Wasted Time R (talk) 22:54, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
