Magnecule

And the magnecules? Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Magnecular bond determined, that concepts only existing in one person's theory are better to be mentioned in the biography page alone.
Note that I'm aware of a number of counterarguments (some good, some bad, as so often) and that Time Cube and New Chronology got their own page -- but magnecules? With less than 500 Google hits and no coverage anywhere?

Forchheim

Hi, you commented on my proposed move of "Forchheim (Oberfranken)" to "Forchheim". My arguments for this move are:

  • primary topic (it's much larger than the other Forchheims, the article name in German wikipedia is also de:Forchheim)
  • the "(Oberfranken)" part is not commonly used (neither in English nor in German) when referring to Forchheim AFAIK
  • unusual disambiguation method: Oberfranken is Upper Franconia in English, and we use commas for disambiguation, see Wikipedia:WikiProject Germany/Conventions

I'm not sure how to proceed now, because the move has already been made. If you're not too discontented with the present situation, could you remove the entry from the WP:RM page? Markussep Talk 08:23, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Article Deletion

Dear Anthony, I noticed that you deleted an article about groove advertising company, though i haven't included any advertising information...i was just writing some introduction about the company..when it was founded...and some other info like this. What i noticed is that the article was there for 5 days, and when i have put the logo of the company as a picture it got deleted immediately. Would you please explain to me why this happened as i am new here? i just put my link into a list of companies in egypt which has nothing wrong, and i created a page so that when people click this link they find some info about the company. So please let me know if there is anything i should put in mind while doing this, because i don't mean to do any advertising.

  • If you mean Groove Advertising And Marketing Solutions, I deleted it at 16:22, 10 January 2008 because at 16:09, 10 January 2008 User:Breno speedy-delete-tagged it as advertizing. There are untold thousands of advertizing and marketing firms in the world, and unless this firm can be proved to be very notable beyond most others and influencing things seriously in the outside world, I feel that if I undeleted this page and started an AfD debate on it, the verdict would be "delete". Episodes vs. Media and release information

Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation

  • This company is a large, public sector enterprise owned by the Government of India. It recorded aggregated revenues of over $340 million USD during fiscal 2006 and a link referencing the company's financial statements was included as an in-line reference in the article as well (It is also India's largest fertilizer plant - I believe this information was included in the article). As far as WP:V, there are several results for a Google search [2] on the company. I admit that there wasn't much content in the article, and I had already tagged it as a stub. None of the reasons listed in WP:CSD seem pertinent to this article. Moreover, it is common courtsey to allow the editor an opportunity to defend his/her creation of an article before deleting it. Black Gold Energy

  • It appears you deleted my entry for Black Gold Energy. This company is doing some very unique things and is applying new science methods that was going to be included into the article with time. TGS-Nopec a company that Black Gold Energy is dealing with a lot has a Wikipedia entry and so I am wondering why this entry was deleted so quickly.   • At 09:27, 17 January 2008 User:Pairadox speedy-delete-tagged it as "not notable". When the information describing the "new science methods" is available, and the article can be big enough to be noteworthy and not like merely a company announcement, then it could be re-started.   • Did you read the talk page before deleting this article? I asserted the champagne's notability and was in the middle preparing to stub-ify it and rewrite; I requested the help of Wikipedia's most prolific wine article editor, someone who has helped me many times in the past.   • The article Champagne Salon largely consisted of advertizing champagne wine, without saying anything constructive that is not better explained in page Champagne (wine) and the pages that Champagne (wine) links to. Removing the promotional matter would merely leave "Champagne Salon is a wine dealers." and its web address. Please, please do undelete and list on AfD. You can expect a complete rewrite. On a side note, I think deleting the article without responding to my "hangon" and talk page request--and allowing me almost zero time to do what I promised to do--was a tad impolite. I suggested Clearing the ears should redirect to Ear clearing, but I'd be happy to defer to your judgement.   • Hi Anthony - I just spotted your addition to Diving_hazards_and_precautions#On_ascent and agree that it needed clarification. However, it seems that it reads in a way that you may not have intended: there is now a row that gives "Eardrum bursting inwards" caused by "Blocked Eustachian tube", for which I can't construct a mechanism when it can occur on ascent. KKK (disambiguation)

Hello Anthony, I've noticed that you reverted three changes to the KKK (disambiguation) page. I'm wondering if this was an accident and whether you had a proper chance to review the diff first. The three changes were:

  1. Linking to International Air Transport Association airport code for "3-letter airport code".
  2. Adding the KKK-supermarket brand (run by the Kesko chain, which is common within Finland. (And a constant amusement for foreigners)...
  3. Removing what appears to be an unsuitable link to "http://www.falconclubs.fsnet.co.uk/KKK%20Scotland.htm" (A supplier of day-old, ex-egg industry baby chickens) to the falconry industry.

Just because he's not on Google doesn't mean he doesn't exist. That article's author does appear to have knowledge of Somalia, and his problems with spelling and capitalization mean his contribs need to be cleaned up, not deleted. Ahmed Arabi

  • I see you prefer Arabi Pasha. There is a strong case for that; but it is complicated by our treatment of noble titles in Egypt and elsewhere.

Shiva/Siva dab pages

  • Recently, I found that entering "Shiva" led to a page on a Hindu diety. Being Jewish, I recognize the word "Shiva" as being ritual mourning, and I feel it has equal importance on a world scale. I thought it would be best to have the entry of "Shiva" go straight to the disambiguation page for the term.
    After finding the disambiguation page, I found that it included both "Shiva" and "Siva." I thought that following Wikipedia tradition, it would be better to have a separate page dedicated to each spelling, with a "see also" to the other, so I split the page.

Would you be willing to discuss your recent edit of Emperor Fushimi? Will you take a moment to explain why you think your edit enhances the effectiveness and utility of the note? In one sense, the answer would seem obvious; but I wondered if your take on this will have been be entirely congruent with mine. This becomes more than a merely rhetorical question because I have created similarly-formatted notes in other articles like Emperor Go-Fukakusa. The notice does stand out from the text a little better, but it's a bit awkward-looking. I think this deliberately "wrong" format appears more clearly to be a helpful comment. As long as we're fiddling with this, what do you think of the indented note format -- maintaining the conventional typeface, but using indentation to set off the informational note from the body of text? See Emperor Fushimi, Emperor Go-Fukakusa, Prince Hisahito of Akishino and Emperor Sutoku. Eponymous diseases

Just to let you know that trend (apparently) is nolonger to use posessive "'s" on eponymous diseases. Hence Graves did not have any thyroid disease so not "Graves' disease" but "Graves disease". (too many to count :-) When you close an AfD, make sure that the {{subst:at '''Decision''' ~~~~}} is at the absolute top of the page (not just in place of where it says "remove this notice when closing}. If it's not at the top, the formatting is wrong and the bot (mathbot, I believe) does not remove the AfD properly from the logs.   • Hi Anthony, I don't know how much you know about Hinduism, but to my knowledge (as a non-practising Hindu) 'yatra' is the journey to pilgrim spots, somewhat comparable the Islamic hajj, not the destinations themselves (comparable to Mecca, I suppose).   • The deleted page is Panlucist. Google search for panlucism OR panlucist OR panlucists yielded absolute zero results. Google search for "Ka Ohren" yielded 6 results, all in German, where it referred not to a man but to ears ("Ohren" in German). Law enforcement in Canada

  • Hi,

I am not sure if you were the one who had this on the law enforcement page. "There are also a few private police forces, with the same powers as other governmental forces." I am wondering if you can explain what that means.

For example, the South Coast British Columbia Transportation Authority Police Service is also a transit police force but regulated under the Police Act (BC), whereas CN Police and CPR Police are regulated under Section 158 of the Canada Transportation Act [1]. what difference does it make since they are appointed by the Minister of Public Safety so they are not really private police force?

I ask for your help sir to evaluate what happened at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Asia_%28band%29 I am the President of the authorized Fan club (asiafanclub.com) for the band ASIA. For a long time my link was in the external links section of the wiki article. A few weeks ago I noticed that my link was moved to the bottom the external links section by 2 newer links. Feeling this unjustified, going by a first come first serve basis, I moved it back to the #2 slot in the external links section. My link was removed by an IP address of 156.34.225.77 and an edit war broke out, & for one hour of this war only my link was removed.

Now the situation has blown up and before the administrators seen what really happened and how it started and why, they had already made their call on lies and deception. My link was removed I was blacklisted. Sir, I ask that you please evaluate the wiki policy for external links. These rules were clearly detailed by Bondegezou and those facts were never really rebuttaled by the opposition, they were quick broad responses without thouching upon the issues in detail. He pointed these facts as to what links should be included, this goes well beyond an official site.

Bondegezou stated... "Hu12 raises the issue of what he calls "obvious" spamming. Under WP:AGF, I accept the explanation given below by the Asia Fan Club President as to what happened. Regardless of that, the inappropriate activities of certain editors is completely irrelevant to the merits of the case. The link concerned was in this article for a long time before the recent edit war erupted and content should never be chosen to punish editors' behaviour. The issue must be decided in terms of what is best for the article. A. B. and Hu12 raise WP:RS and WP:V, but WP:EL is the more relevant policy here, not those. This is not about using the link concerned as a citation, but giving it in the external links section. At the beginning of WP:EL, it states under "What should be linked" that, "1. Articles about any organization, person, web site, or other entity should link to the official site if any." An officially authorised fan club seems to me to constitute an official site. WP:EL goes on, "4. Sites with other meaningful, relevant content that is not suitable for inclusion in an article, such as reviews and interviews." The site in question contains such content. If one is concerned about WP:RS policy, I note that WP:EL continues under "Links to be considered", "4. Sites which fail to meet criteria for reliable sources yet still contain information about the subject of the article from knowledgeable sources." That is, even if a site fails WP:RS, it may still be considered. Taking that in conjunction with the site's official status seems to me a sufficient case for the link's inclusion. WP:EL then continues with a list of "Links normally to be avoided". The site in question does not appear to fall under any of the categories listed. A. B. suggests above that the site does fall under criteria 1, 11 and 12. With respect to 1, the site clearly contains considerable content beyond what a good Wikipedia article would ever include. I do not see how 11 applies at all. 12 reads "Links to blogs and personal web pages, except those written by a recognized authority." Given this site has been authorised by the band in question, that would seem to come under "except those written by a recognized authority". Nor is it a blog or simply a personal web page. The mistake I made was I engaged in an edit war and people got upset. For a long time my link was in the external links section of the wiki article. 156.34.226.160 continued on and my site that is an authorized site for ASIA was placed it on the blacklist as spam. It has also come between a private SE program I have with Google that I paid money for. This is clearly deformation of my site, myself and ASIA's authorized online fan club. 156.34.225.77 continued to write editors and people to take his side. Finally as you can see the evidence for yourself, it was proven that my link is an ASIA authorized Internet resource. I am an official authorized affiliate to report official ASIA news, photos, & all media sources. My site IT'S NOT SIMPLY A BLOG or a forum, and contains interviews reviews (official) and other valuable information that would not be included in a wiki article such as tour photos exclusive to the fan club and other interviews and reviews approved for my site. According to Wiki policy, that is to be included in the external links section.

156.34.225.77 lied to administrators and told them I was adding spam (to give the impression that I suddenly added the link that day) in reality, he got pissed that I moved my link to where it was for a long time, in the #2 spot. I didn't add anything, in reality it was he that removed it and then lied to administrators, by the time the real story came out, it was blown up, hell had already broken loose, & the administrators already made their call (like an umpire not changing). He started the whole thing, reqruited the administrators, now wants to free himself of all involvement and leave those he requited to take the heat when I bring the truth of this out and turned the heat up when I said I was taking this further.

Look at what 156.34.225.77 said here (still calling me spam) "I am sorry to interrupt this convo but since several of you are involved in the issues going on at the Asia page I thought I would interject a personal concern here where several eyes could pick up on it... rather than chase each of you down individually. It's nothing major... unless you're me... but on the Asia talk page there is a very lengthy list of IPs that are being linked to the ongoing spam push by the Asia Fan Club President. The problem is... and this is my concern... one of my IPs (a noble 156.34.X range) is listed among the many IPs that have been used by the AFC Pres. Trust me... the FC pres does not live in Eastern Canada :D . I was going to rm it myself but then I thought... Whats funny is they can't see through it and they continue to take his side and edited his IP out of my statements, 156.34.225.77 now wants to wash his hands clean of this. I was no angel in my response to this, I should not engaged in a war and should have wrote the administrators right away and said he vandalized a long time link, & this would have never happened. I ask you to please look at the guidelines of the wiki policy (external links) and see how many unuthorized links are on band pages because relevant material, my site is authorized and is in the official biography. It contain reviews interviews and photos that the article speaks that can't be included in the article, according to wiki own rules, that is relevant.   • No, he knew it wasn't spam, he was mad that I moved it in the external links section, and told them I added spam, he knew it wasn't, if he thought it was spam he would have removed the link a long time ago. Me moving the link to #2 is what triggered this, he got angry. He lied that he made it appear that I was adding a spam link that day... so the administrators believed him. I didn't add anything, there are many progressive rock experts that are mad over this because they have worked on the article for a long time. He removed my link when I re-arranged the external links order. Mine was at #4, so I moved it back to #2, where it was before 2 newer link bumped mine to the bottom, I mean come on mine was there first, so when I moved it to #2, he removed my link entirely, not placing it at #4, he removed a long time link, so I kept adding it back to where it was and that was the edit war, he was removing it and I was repairing his vandalism. But he wrote the administrators and told them I was adding spam, as to give the impression that I was adding something that day that was never there before. Once the administrators found out what happened they had already blacklisted my site so no one can re-add it, and that interfered with a private SE program I have because Google picked up on the words spam attached to the website. What order should the links be? Don't really know, the official one should always be 1st, and in my opinion, who there next in line should be next...that was me, this is why I moved mine back to #2, it was there before the other two. Once they found out the story they now wish to ban me on my actions after fact (not who was right in the edit war) and they exaggerated thing and threw a bunch of charges at me that happened after the edit war that I rebutted. The rule in Wikipedia is WP:NPOV, i.e. neutral point of view, and a fan group's opinion is not dominant over other people's opinion.   • Search through Asia (band) 's history list shows an edit war between User:70.167.100.82 and User:142.166.250.216 around 19:00, 1 February 2008 involving the link http: / / asiafanclub.com/ ASIA Fan Club.com - The Authorized ASIA Fan Club. If this is the much-disputed link in question, it seems to be rather advertisory, including a soundtrack of pop music (presumably by the band Asia); but from my experiences with external sites there seems to be no hard-and-fast boundary between "this is spam" and "this is NPOV information", but it seems to depend on such things as the ratio between (the amount of matter encouraging the reader to buy or sell things) and (the amount of accurate other and useful information). Some of the matter on that page and the pages that it links to, seems to be relevant, to ardent fans of pop music; but against that is "Asia pres"'s reaction to this link being deleted. As regards placement, the section Asia (band)#External links seems to be so short that placement does not matter; but I feel that the group Asia's own official site links should come first, and any fan and other third-party links after them. You've just moved it to For Better or for Worse per a request on the "Moves" page. That request was based on the guidelines for trademarks, but I think this is more appropriately classified as a title (as with a book or television series.) Per the MoS, "Book titles, like names of other works, are exempt from lowercase second and subsequent words."

Samba Squad

  • Hi... You speedily deleted the Samba Squad page, but I would like to request it to be undeleted. I was about to edit the page and add a whole bunch of criteria that would demonstrate the bands notability:

they have been nominated for canada's highest music awards, they have won other awards in world music categories, VisionTV has made a two-hour documentary abou the band that has aired several times on Canadian and American television, etc..., etc... I looked at it last night, and it was there. I look this morning and it is gone. How do we go about reversing the deletion?

Order Flowers

  • Hello, Can you undelete my article on order flowers? I put considerable time and effort writing that article trying to explain the nature of the florist industry to consumers. I think I put valuable information on the pros and cons of ordering online and what the consumer is actually getting when they do. If you really think it is an advertisement, I would prefer to have the article edited. I think it was my usage of links. I was only trying to make my article look as legit as possible. Please undelete. I believe my article should not have been deleted since it follows wikipedia's guidelines:
  • "When an article on an otherwise encyclopedic topic has the tone of an advertisement, the article can often be salvaged by rewriting it in a neutral point of view. Elements of articles about products or services with brand names can also be combined under a common topic or category to facilitate unbiased and collaborative information by including information about the competition and about different alternatives."

  • Anthony, I'm here to ask for your help on moving a band's name "WarCry (band)" to WarCry (This is a desambigution page), I know this might look meaningless to you, for the simple reason that there are some other articles with similar name, but these are kind of less important (Please don't take it the wrong way), one it's about a game, other it's about a website, the other one it's about a Salvation Army newspaper, and there are two more which their names have nothing to do with WarCry. But as you can see the newspaper article (Which, by the way it's called War Cry, instead of WarCry) is a little short, so are the other two. The disambiguation page it's named War cry, I think that the band's article, which is the largest one, should be named WarCry. Please help me merge this article into just WarCry.

Please edit some edit summaries

  • Hi Anthony, you helped me once before with some complicated merging of page history, so I hope you might assist with this. At least three vandal accounts (already blocked in succession) moved various pages around, leaving edit summaries that include the URL of an unpleasant website. The relevant contributions are here: Special:Contributions/Spider Pig, Spider Pig, does whatever a Spider Pig does, Special:Contributions/Æschere and Special:Contributions/Seand59. I don't recommend going to the URL mentioned, as it takes over the browser and blocks attempts to quit. Would you be able to remove or munge the URL from those edit summaries?
    • Is it possible to search for more edit summaries containing this URL?
    • If you think this would be a waste of your time, just let me know. I tried WP:ANB but another admin removed the report, citing WP:BEANS. I'll go for adminship myself soon so that I can get stuck in too! - Fayenatic (talk) 15:51, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
  • Unfortunately, no: it needs powers which ordinary administrators do not have. (I asked a while ago about what if someone wants to edit an edit comment.) I could delete the affected edits in the usual way, but the edits and their objectionable edit comments would remain in that page's deleted edits list and would be accessible by admins. Or see Wikipedia:Requests for oversight.

Unfortunately, it shouldn't have been filed as uncontroversial as there are upwards of 1500 links to be cleaned up. I've left a note at Talk:Red Dwarf to this effect, as well as a suggestion that the links be addressed first. (Ordinarily, I'd balk at undoing another admin's move - especially since you're only responding to a good-faith request - but in this case I think the RD editors need to come up with a plan first to address the sheer number of links to be fixed.) Speedy deletion of Template:Future video game

Help moving a page

  • Hi, I noticed you work WP:RM a lot and I need help with a page move. I discussed with another user moving Towton, North Yorkshire to Towton. We came to the point that it is silly that Towton is currently a disambiguation page that link to the town and the battle because if someone were indeed looking for the battle, either way, they would have to access it via a second link either through the disambiguation page or through the town's page. Template for incomplete RM's

Hi! Today I contributed to an RM in the incomplete section which many readers never check, and noticed most of the entries there seem to sit there and fester with their creators completely unaware.

In an attempt to help, I've created the following template to put on the user talk-page of the creator of an incomplete RM request to try and get them to format all the parts of the request properly:

As someone who deals with incomplete RM requests, I'd be grateful if you could comment on it/improve it/use it/MfD it as you see appropriate. If it's useful, feel free to move it into Template: space for the benefit of others.

As you can probably tell, I have had enough. If any editor supports this who actually has English as his native tongue, do let me know; until then, I utterly oppose this effort by aliens to rewrite the English language for their own convenience.
