question for you, re a guideline on navboxes
Hello there, CaptainEek! beggin' yer pardon! Ahoy and avast! Coming alongside!! step lively now! rig a bosun's chair so that I can come aboard, and belay aft!! beggin yer pardon! aye, a glass of grog would do nicely! thank ye indeed!! if I may spread out a chart, I'll be glad to tell ye directly whats got my sailing rig all becalmed!!
In my opinion, this sentence this makes no sense; "The articles should refer to each other, to a reasonable extent"
; i.e., referring to articles listed in a navbox. does anyone mind if I remove this? this is in the section "Navigation Templates." .
we have numerous navboxes, listing many varied articles, for which there is no reason whatsoever why the articles should each refer to each other!! why would that be needed??! take a look simply at navboxes for topics relating a single country, and then feel free to tell me why that rule would make any sense! here's some examples!
- {{Japan topics}},
- {{China topics}},
- {{France topics}}.
- {{Italy topics}}
et cetera!! Sm8900 (talk) 21:48, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
- by the way, the above message includes a large excerpt from a talk page discussion on this topic, which I have opened already at the talk page for the essay linked to above. thanks! Sm8900 (talk) 21:49, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Sm8900 I'm not seeing why removing that is a good thing. Wikipedia articles are improved by having cross references. That's why we use wikilinks pretty liberally. Further, I wouldn't just remove it without some kind of RfC on point. But I'm not seeing that even starting an RfC would be a good idea unless there was some traction to remove the entry. NYT article
Hey there! I happened to read the NYT article on Wikipedia and LLMs, and vaguely remembered looking at vermillion flycatcher on your user page sometime when I was writing purple-crowned fairywren. I generally agree with your view that LLMs won't be a satisfactory replacement for Wikipedia in at least the next decade, although I wouldn't be confident enough to state that it'll still be around in a century. More concerning than LLMs were the comments on the NYT site: apparently some people are salivating over the prospect of an Elon Musk owned Wikipedia (Xpedia?), although exactly would edit such a project remains an open question. Questions and feedback for the Defense of Sihang Warehouse page
Hi CaptainEek, I just wanted to reach out to you regarding the Defense of Sihang Warehouse page which you provided feedback on.
I just wanted to apologize preemptively for not providing enough comment on my revisions or possibly being incorrect with citations. I understand Wikipedia's emphasis on reliability and citations, and if I improperly cited or failed to provide enough comment, I apologize, and I'd also welcome some feedback personally too.
However, the reason for the conflict on the Defense of Sihang Warehouse page is because of the actions of User Adachi 1939, which included a four month long edit war where he consistently undid all edits done to the page (including spelling and grammar edits) to preserve his version of the article, indiscriminately lambasting all edits as "historical revisionism" and "Chinese propaganda" regardless of the source, which the edit log shows. In fact, the situation required admin intervention twice to prevent an ownership approach.
Given his extremely rude and hostile interactions with other users who tried to open dialogue like Kapitan318 (you can find these on the article talk page and his talk page), and a topic on his talk page about me personally that was deleted by an admin for "inappropriate content," I simply don't want to be drawn into an argument with Adachi1939 (which he seems to enjoy given his personal title of "the infamous butcher of the Defense of Sihang Warehouse page on his user page).
I understand dialogue is a core component of the Wikipedia community, and I did originally consider answering Adachi's points, but given his actions and history on the page and his talk page, I simply cannot.
I just wanted to reach out and ask for some feedback personally, as I do not want an argument (which Adachi has been asking me to do on my talk page), and appreciate any feedback you could give. Thanks. KresyRise (talk) 23:52, 1 August 2023 (UTC)

Hey. This kinda slipped off my radar when I was offline for my birthday. What do you think, close challenge at AN, or just start a new discussion? I don't think II is going to revise their close based on their comments. Sideswipe9th (talk) 17:35, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Sideswipe9th sorry was gone camping. Frankly, I'm tempted to just run that new discussion, and if someone objects then we can take it to AN. But absent objection, there seemed to be decent consensus for Roxy's suggestions and I'm not seeing the value in a close challenge on what is not really the same issue. Close
Hi CaptainEek! Thanks for your recent close of Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)#RfC: Automatically semi-protect Today's Featured Article. I think the close of the images RfC was premature, though. RfCs are generally cut short from the typical 30-day timeframe only when there is clear SNOW consensus, and while that was certainly true of the main proposal, I don't think it was true of the images proposal. Much of the early support reflected substantial confusion over the meaning of upload protection and how that would change the status quo of autoconfirmation being required, something that was not explicitly clarified until my Aug. 23 comment. The comments and !votes after that reflect a much more mixed attitude. The discussion there, unlike in the main proposal, was also actively ongoing, as evidenced by my suggestion earlier today that we may want to consider extended-confirmed protection for images (a suggestion that I think it reasonable many of the supporters may be amenable to). Would you be willing to let the images discussion carry on to a more natural conclusion? As its own quite distinct proposal, I think it deserves due consideration on its own, rather than to be cut short and swept up with the snow above it. Best, {{u|Sdkb}} talk 22:48, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Sdkb Aside from you, and one response by User:casualdejekyll, no one else had commented on the sub-RfC in four days, while the main RfC received more than a dozen votes and comments in the last four days. So I'm not sure that really counts as active. If folks were actively coming to the main RfC and commenting, but not the sub-RfC, I'm not seeing what re-opening would do. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 22:55, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
- Also, I disagree with the notion that the general timeline of RfC's is 30 days. 30 days is just when Legobot happens to archive things. RFCEND prescribes no strict timelimit, instead noting that
An RfC should last until enough comment has been received that consensus is reached, or until it is apparent that it won't be.
CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 22:58, 28 August 2023 (UTC) - People !voting in the main RfC but not the image RfC after my Aug. 23 comment could just as easily be seen as ambivalence toward the images proposal, something that Blaze Wolf articulated explicitly. Overall, my reading of that discussion is that a sizable proportion of the !voters before Aug. 23 were unaware either of the status quo level of protection for images, or the fact that they were !voting to restrict it to administrators, or both. Neither fact was directly articulated (nor was the link to a page that defines upload protection provided, and different types of protection were muddled). It's unclear exactly how many participants that confusion applies to, but the consensus bar we have to clear for a SNOW close is high, and that confusion, combined with the limited-but-trending-up opposition, makes it clear to me that that bar was not reached.
- Given where we are now, where it might be confusing for some editors to have the discussion re-opened after it has been closed, I think the cleanest course of action would be to start a new discussion that more clearly presents the current image situation and offers three options (autoconfirmed, EC, and upload-protection). I will plan to open that discussion and ping the image RfC participants. {{u|Sdkb}} talk 23:24, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Sdkb Alright, I'm fine with that, I'll make an addendum to my comment, and leave the running of further RfC to you (or others). CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 23:26, 28 August 2023 (UTC)

- Hi :) Following up on the RfC - it seems no one pointed out during the discussion that the proposal (which was enacted) was to semi-protect the day before TFA, during TFA and the day after, except the trial that was run and the data collected was for just during TFA. I am not aware of anyone providing any hard evidence that articles need protection the day before and after TFA. (I say hard evidence specifically and not anecdotal because I think the bar to overturn a perennial proposal / longstanding consensus should be reasonably high.) But also I'm on vacation and might have totally missed something.
- Based on my discussion with @John M Wolfson (see thread), the RFC is currently being implemented as proposed (protection for 3 days), but I'm pretty skeptical on doing that given that's not at all what had been discussed beforehand nor tested during the trial. I'm curious what your thoughts are. Legoktm (talk) 06:27, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Legoktm I mean, I do agree that the three day protection is a bit odd. But that's the question that was run. As much as I, personally, think that having a single days protection would be better, that seems a lot like a supervote. No one really seemed to question the three day idea, and thus it stuck. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 06:50, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
- Agreed that three days is probably excessive. Consensus can always be modified, so I'd just start a new thread at VPR and see how folks feel specifically about that question. {{u|Sdkb}} talk 14:13, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
- I'm personally fine with the three-day period, which as the Captain pointed out nobody objected to in particular during the RfC, but I'm also not married to it. Another RfC might be possible in this regards, but a) I'm not sure how it would be received based on how recently the main RfC was, and b) it would not absolve the TFA Protector Bot operators of the responsibility to implement the three-day period in the meantime notwithstanding their personal skepticism – theirs is not to ponder whether the consensus was "right", in which event they should have !voted or commented on the RfC, but to implement it without any undue delay. – John M Wolfson (talk • contribs) 18:08, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
- Absolutely concur on that. (I don't think the follow-up needs to be a full 30-day RfC; my gut sense is that this won't be a very controversial amendment.) {{u|Sdkb}} talk 18:38, 8 September 2023 (UTC)

Thank you very much for your note about WP:CLOUD at the arbcom case request. I understood this was a given. I have no desire to go through AfD with this account. Having lost the trust of the community, I have no intention of ever filing an AfD. I'm still figuring out how much this will affect my normal editing because of this loss of trust. I'm voluntarily observing an iBan with CorbieVreccan in terms of article editing and interaction. That might become a formal iBan before this process is over completely but I intend to follow this as strictly as possibly. Cheers, Mark Ironie (talk) 21:18, 14 September 2023 (UTC)

Doesn't really seem like there's a place in the case itself? Perhaps it doesn't matter. I'll follow the iban strictly and to the best of my ability. I'll probably make mistakes but if I do, they will clearly be accidental. That's probably not the best addendum to write here but we do have some common broad areas of interest. I just don't know how much I have to research in an article history to establish Corbie hasn't edited it recently, say for months, to stick to the letter of this. Cheers, Mark Ironie (talk) 04:50, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Mark Ironie Well its not passed until the clerks officially pass it, and motions have sometimes had last minute changes. But yes, it does seem like it will pass. Beyond that, probably a question better to ask at the case request. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 05:13, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Mark Ironie Reading the edit summary, I see you're also wondering if you have to agree/acknowledge. The answer is no. It applies whether you acknowledge it or even want it. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 05:38, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
- @CaptainEek: You know, at most any other time, I wouldn't be quite this stupid. If any motions pass, of course it doesn't need any response from me, just adherence to the outcome. Seems my underlying thought process thinks this is some consensus discussion I'm participating in rather than Arbcom decisions about my future behavior. I'm very sorry to have bothered you unnecessarily. Cheers, Mark Ironie (talk) 02:04, 16 September 2023 (UTC)
Confirmation of email receipt?
Hi CaptainEek, can you confirm whether or not my email (sent ~24 hours ago) was received by ArbCom? I don't know who is currently in charge of acknowledging emails but I thought in the past that I have received an acknowledgement of receipt when I emailed the committee. I'm concerned about my recent email forward because it's the first time I ever tried to forward a gmail post in the middle of an email conversation, and also gmail didn't give me an obvious option of renaming the forward so the title may make no sense. New pages patrol newsletter
Hello CaptainEek,
Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!
October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.
PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.
Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.
Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.
Reminders:
- You can access live chat with patrollers on the New Page Patrol Discord.
- Consider adding the project discussion page to your watchlist.
- To opt out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

Good one. Lol
No idea why you would raise an issue about me saying "Good one. Lol". It's not that it caused any sort of disruption and it was not intended to offend anyone. It's not that I was not focused on improving the article. It was simply a one-off short humorous remark about the other editor inventive in responding. I don't know, do you expect me to act frivolously and like a robot all the time? I am a human. Maybe I don't see something you are seeing about it? What are your specific concerns about that remark? Sincerely, Thinker78 (talk) 03:55, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Thinker78 The correct response to an IP address that has added an irrelevant comment is to remove it as per WP:NOTFORUM, not make fun of them. I guess I missed the humor, because to me "Good one. Lol." is pretty aggressive. But it doesn't really matter. I just suggest that in the future you ignore IP comments like that. Engaging with them like that only 1) feeds the trolls, or 2) insults potentially genuine editors. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 04:10, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. My humorous comment was not intended to be aggressive but it reflected my genuine bemusement at the candid and original reply by Hilo. If they had raised concerns I would have stricken it trhough and apologized.
- I have to say that mentioning the Book of Genesis about a Bible article is not an irrelevant comment in this case. In fact the issue is larger than this and I believe there is a chronic problem of ip editors getting their comments closed or removed. A practice that in my opinion flies in the face of WP:NOBITING. Instead, many times they should be addressed in a more proper manner, considering many times they have no idea how things in Wikipedia work and experienced editors treat them like if they should know the most remote corners of policies and guidelines.
- Of course often ip editors troll but in this case I think it was a relevant comment and I support Hilo for the nice way they replied. It was much better than some snappy answer that scares people away. Regards, Thinker78 (talk) 04:27, 25 September 2023 (UTC)

Question from Sree1959 (14:48, 30 September 2023)
Hi, thank you for your kind offer to help, very much appreciated. I learned that in order to publish articles in the English language independently, one needs to have completed at least 500 edits. Until the 500 count is achieved, I guess these articles (fresh or translated from other languages) must remain on the user's Page. Am I right? --Sreekrishnan Narayanan [[Sree1959 | ([[talk]])]] (talk) 14:48, 30 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Sree1959 What is it that you want to write about? CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 19:29, 30 September 2023 (UTC)
- Besides my long-term objective of writing articles on insurance and cybersecurity, in the short term I am planning to focus on translating some articles in Indian languages on Indian literature and art to English. Sreekrishnan Narayanan ( talk) 23:57, 30 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Sree1959 Generally, one can publish articles after only ten edits, which you should be able to do. However, I would also suggest that new users use WP:AFC, which I see you have done for at least one article. Creating a new article from scratch is one of the hardest things to do on Wikipedia. It is much easier to edit and improve existing articles, and I suggest to new users that they first edit existing articles so they understand how the process works before trying the difficult task of creating new articles. Looking at your draft, that subject is inappropriate for Wikipedia. Only notable topics are worthy for inclusion on Wikipedia. Help needed
Hello! I hope you are doing well. You have been recommended to me by another editor, so I'm reaching out for help. I've been adding some stuff on Wikipedia about coercive control, domestic violence and law (especially Canadian law), but one user has been systematically undoing all my work since May, without ever suggesting any edits or explaining himself. I feel stalked, suspect the editor just personally doesn't agree with the material, and am not sure what to do about this since I'm new to Wikipedia. Thanks in advance! - MrOllie Didicool14 (talk) 16:36, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
- MrOllie being the one that undoes my work, and Mr Serjeant Buzfuz is the editor who recommended you
- Didicool14 (talk) 16:38, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Didicool14 while I understand that it is a bit frustrating to have one's work undone, that is actually part of the central model of Wikipedia: WP:BRD (bold, revert, discuss). The discussion part is currently happening at Talk:Abusive_power_and_control. Now, I understand this is happening on other articles. But it seems to be about the same underlying source, so I'm not sure there needs to be more than one discussion. Having a continued discussion at that page is probably the best outcome for now. If things there don't resolve, the other avenues are outlined at WP:DR, which might include starting an WP:RFC on whether the sources should be used, or going to WP:RSN and asking whether the sources are reliable. If that doesn't resolve the issue, and you feel that MrOllie is stalking you, then we can chat again. But I'd be hard pressed to say that MrOllie is stalking you at this current point, especially since you haven't yet discussed the issue at length. If you disagree, you are of course welcome to file a brief at WP:ANI, but I would generally recommend against that except as a last resort, or in the case of clear cut misconduct, which I am not seeing. I'll try to keep an eye on the talk page in question and see if I can't help move things in the right direction :) CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 19:21, 24 October 2023 (UTC)

November Articles for creation backlog drive
Hello CaptainEek:
WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 2 months outstanding reviews from the current 4+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 November 2023 through 30 November 2023.
You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.

Interview was good!
I just got around to reading the New York Times article on Wikipedia, and it was an interesting article! Wikipedia more than ever stands as a pillar of good content, both among the AI-generated cruft (or commercial spam/misinformation in general) and as something that these (scary and sometimes useful) AI tools are built on. I much appreciate your comments in that interview. — Anon423 (talk) 22:06, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
An Introduction.
Greetings and Felicitations CaptainEek,
I hope this message finds you well. I have chosen you as a potential mentor, but I'm uncertain about how this mentorship process works and whether you're interested in taking on a project like me.
Your profile reflects a splendid sense of humor, and the patience and empathy evident in your talk page projects a welcoming tone. I can't help but wonder if all this is automated and if you might be thinking, 'not another newbie.'
I've been quite busy on Wikipedia, navigating the initial challenges that come with being a newcomer. It's been a bit daunting, and I feel like I'm still finding my way around the platform. Unfortunately, I haven't experienced the 'super duper' warm and gracious welcome I had hoped for - I'm being way too tactful - I actually think I have been often a big target - but that's life on any digital platform - as we all know - 'we are indeed all experts now'. I need more than a few emojis here I think.
There are a lot of blunt exchanges, and in the medical/science area - most of the matters are not that contentious - in the political and social policy articles - I can understand more editor friction is to be expected.
I am a recently retired US Physician, British educated, and medicine is not my only interest - had 35 years of having to deal with patients - much of my career was in the consulting cardiovascular area, and consequently, my focus has been on contributing to medical articles.
I recognize the importance of familiarizing myself with guidelines such as MEDMOS and others. While some of the guidance seems intuitive, it's obviously essential to invest time in thoroughly reviewing policies.
I hope this message doesn't elicit another negative response, and I look forward to any guidance and advice you might be able to offer.
Often I think I am being polite and respectful - and end up with a fairly offensive response - I did review a number of articles in WP about personality profiles that are attracted to WP - spot on article from the responses I have noted.
Cheers,

- @BeingObjective Sorry for the slow reply, its the holidays here in America. As for mentorship, I'm afraid I don't think I'd be a good fit for you, as you seem mostly interested in medical topics. I'm afraid I am rather averse to medical topics though, I got a degree in Botany in part so I could get a science degree without ever having to learn how the inside of a mammal worked :) Might I instead recommend you ask one of the members of WP:WikiProject Medicine? I think that User:WhatamIdoing or User:Spicy could be good fits :) CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 19:54, 25 November 2023 (UTC)
- Many thanks - oddly, I am actually not that 'gung ho' about just the medine/techy single focus.
- I'd hope I am not that one dimensional - I did take a big run at Taboo the television show article - I'm a big Tom Hardy fan. And his fictional character.
- Understood though. I have made a fair few edits - and I was actually just following the automated mentor thingy - I'm not sure WP boffins have optimized that 'script' -
- I am British - but I live just north of Chicago - like for 43 years - so I totally understand.
- Appreciate the response though.
- BeingObjective (talk) 20:13, 25 November 2023 (UTC)
- @BeingObjective, please put Wikipedia:WikiProject Medicine on your watchlist, and post on the talk page whenever you have questions about medicine-related articles. And if you wouldn't mind, please take a look at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Medicine#Need help with Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia - review needed and the section after it, and see if you feel like the requests have been resolved.
- WikiProjects are groups of editors who want to work together. There's always room for a newer editor in the group. Just watching what other people post and seeing the responses to your own can be helpful. I learned a lot from this group back in the day. Wikipedia:WikiProject Film (or maybe Wikipedia:WikiProject Television) is probably the best bet for your Tom Hardy interest. WhatamIdoing (talk) 21:22, 25 November 2023 (UTC)
- Many thanks - the Tom Hardy interest - well, what can I say - actually I liked the sinister character, James Delaney, might be something I should worry about.
- Cheers - BeingObjective (talk) 21:37, 25 November 2023 (UTC)

Hi there, I'm a new member looking for help with my first article. I was browsing the adoption page and your nautical theme caught my eye! Not sure if you have time to support somebody who is definitely in deep water :-) All the best to you, and thank you for keeping so many people afloat! Marilyn Fowles (talk) 19:36, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Marilyn Fowles I've done some edits to your article, but that's about all the time I have right now. I must warn you: your article has a 50/50 shot at being approved at best. It is an organization whose notability is borderline. Unfortunately, creating articles from scratch is one of the hardest things to do on Wikipedia. I generally suggest that new users edit existing pages for a while before trying to create a page from scratch, to get a feel for the process first. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 20:59, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you SO much @CaptainEek for making time for me! Your reply and help and honesty is appreciated. I will study your edits and learn to edit existing pages as you kindly suggest. When I have more experience I will add more to my article, as there are some paragraphs that might make it more notable e.g. Michael Ball is now patron and is performing with the group at the Royal Albert Hall in April this year; HM Band of the Royal Marines has partnered with the group and they have toured and performed together in the UK and overseas; the group has performed at number 10 and danced with the Prime Minister and his wife.

Question from Jayems gg (14:37, 17 January 2024)
E.g how do i know why my edits are being revoked --Jayems gg (talk) 14:37, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Jayems gg You can look at the article history of any article you've edited. So for example, you edited Moai, whose article history is available here [3]. Your edit was undone for this reason: "the source was published in 2023. Before we update to 2024 we need a source from this year saying that moai are still being discovered. And of course details on a Moai discovered in 2024." CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 19:04, 17 January 2024 (UTC)

- Hi. Last time when I submitt my article they say its looks like advertisement so this time I wrote with neutral words please see here that is this neutral: "Rachele Focardi (born July 21, 1979) is a global figure in the field of multigenerational workforce dynamics and the future of work. She is one of the six prominent women in HR. She is the founder and CEO of XYZ at work." Humaira28 (talk) 11:31, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hi. I tried to paste it here but it did not paste. Humaira28 (talk) 11:32, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Humaira28 Having looked at your deleted draft, and seeing your text here, that is not neutral. I know that may seem odd, but Wikipedia has a rather particular style of writing which is much more straightforward and factual than most writing. I wouldn't necessarily say it should be bland, but it certainly shouldn't have buzzwords. Take "global figure." What does that even mean? Its advertising speak. Same thing with "multigenerational workforce dynamics." That could actually be her field, but gosh that sounds like a string of buzzwords, not an actual description of her. Like, is she an author? We need a factual description. Same for "She is one of the six prominent women in HR." According to who? I bet there are way more than six prominent women in the entire field of HR. The body had similar problems. This needs to be written like an encyclopedia, not advertising copy. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 17:38, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, Is this one neutral: Rachele Focardi (born July 21, 1979) is an Italian author, independent researcher, and public speaker renowned in the field of multigenerational workforce dynamics and the future of work. She is one of the prominent women in HR. (according to ICS Learn Human Resources) She is the founder and CEO of XYZ at work. Humaira28 (talk) 20:31, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Humaira28 "renowned", "future of work", "prominent" are all still buzzwords/promo. Question from Ronniepfeffer (22:51, 16 February 2024)
Hi CaptainEek!
New editor here, and I'm hoping you can help me with an issue I'm having. I've been editing the Wikipedia page for Tonj, an area in South Sudan. The first source cited links to a dead website, but I can't figure out how to remove the source itself. Is this something I can do manually, or do I need to post on the talk page and reach a consensus? I haven't found any particularly helpful resources on this.
Thanks a bunch! Ronnie --Ronniepfeffer (talk) 22:51, 16 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Ronniepfeffer So you can just delete wherever it is cited to in the article. Usually, you don't need consensus if you're genuinely improving the page. Though if someone undoes your edit, then you'll need to talk to them about it :) When removing citations, be careful about leaving uncited material. I'd try to find either a better source, or an archive of the original source. Just because a link is dead doesn't mean it should get removed; some work should usually be done to try to track down an archived version. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 23:22, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

Hello, CaptainEek!
Good afternoon, I'm from Kazakhstan. You checked the article Egov.Press which now needs checking again. Askarkos (talk) 15:34, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Askarkos It was unreviewed because there appear to be some serious issues with it. Please engage on the articles talk page. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 18:14, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
