On regards to what you told me on the RfC reply.
Hello GenQuest! This is Keeby. I just wanted to let you know that I understand wholeheartedly what you were telling me back on the Sasanian Empire talk page. :D
But I must ask. When you said that you were referring to the above debates, you meant the edit war? Correct? If so, then yes I do admit that back then I did have a serious issue with citing any reliable sources.
However, you have to admit that I pin pointed reliable boundaries and cited pretty reliable sources on the current RfC proposal?
Overall, I do thank you for the advice that you have given me and I thank you for you support for a new map! Cheers! Keeby101 (talk) 13:30, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
- Keeby, let's please keep the discussion on the article talk page so we are not talking past each other, OK? Thanks. GenQuest "Talk to Me" 03:56, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
Books & Bytes New Years Double Issue
Happy New Year, and welcome to a special double issue of Books & Bytes. We've included a retrospective on the changes and progress TWL has seen over the last year, the results of the survey TWL participants completed in December, some of our plans for the future, a second interview with a Wiki Love Libraries coordinator, and more. Here's to 2014 being a year of expansion and innovation for TWL!
The Wikipedia Library completed the first 6 months of its Individual Engagement grant last week. Here's where we are and what we've done:
- Increased access to sources: 1500 editors signed up for 3700 free accounts, individually worth over $500,000, with usage increases of 400-600%
- Deep networking: Built relationships with Credo, HighBeam, Questia, JSTOR, Cochrane, LexisNexis, EBSCO, New York Times, and OCLC
- New pilot projects: Started the Wikipedia Visiting Scholar project to empower university-affiliated Wikipedia researchers
- Developed community: Created portal connecting 250 newsletter recipients, 30 library members, 3 volunteer coordinators, and 2 part-time contractors
- Tech scoped: Spec'd out a reference tool for linking to full-text sources and established a basis for OAuth integration
- Broad outreach: Wrote a feature article for Library Journal's The Digital Shift; presenting at the American Library Association annual meeting

Welcome to MILHIST
Hello and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you are interested, or you can add it directly to your user page by copying the following: {{WPMILHIST Announcements}}.
- Important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, writing contests, and article logistics.
- We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
- We've developed a set of guidelines that cover article structure and content, template use, categorization, and many other issues of interest.
- If you're looking for something to work on, there are many articles that need attention, as well as a number of review alerts.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask any of the project coordinators or any other experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome, and we are looking forward to seeing you around! Anotherclown (talk) 05:02, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

The Basketweave
I've temporarily reversed the mergers to Ontario Highway 401 and Ontario Highway 427. Floydian had indicated that most of the content did not need to be copied into the 401 article. As he was the primary contributor to a Featured Article, a little deference to his opinions in how to deal with a merger is in order, I think. Sometimes, the best course of action in performing a merger is to summarize the content to avoid issues of undue weight. Imzadi 1979 → 02:35, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
- There is no source regarding the "basketweave" on Highway 427, so it shouldn't go in. Regarding Highway 401, it is briefly mentioned in the Route description. However, the only reliable source that mentions it, aside from newspapers mentioning upcoming lane closures, is my MapArt atlas, which it is cited to. Cheers, Floydian τ ¢ 03:38, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
- This is all fine. I am simply clearing mergers by moving content into the article per an AfD result. If you then feel the content is non-notable or unsourced, simply delete it (which the AfD probably should've done in this case) or correct it. Regards, GenQuest "Talk to Me" 04:44, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

Hello and thank you for your note. The link I removed from the Bachelors Grove Cemetery page was placed to direct readers to slander against someone and is not useful to the topic. I added a better site which is relevant to the topic and, as a longtime historian of the cemetery, made a few notes in a couple of sections, with references added. Thanks for reviewing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aeronut63 (talk • contribs) 21:57, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

Middlefaire
As I don't want to get in an edit war with another user, I asked admin BOZ for help in resolving the addition to the List of Renaissance fairs as you can see here. Thanks for your understanding. Alden Loveshade (talk) 01:54, 8 April 2014 (UTC)
- No problem, Alden. The number one reason the revert happened was that the edit was inserted in the middle of another entry in the table. That way, you can fix it and see what you did wrong. However, the fair that you inserted doesn't seem very notable, (probably due to it being a new one). That is why the criteria in the article was established about entries being established for so many years, etc. I will take some time tonight/tomorrow to see if I can possibly find additional sourcing, and you can do likewise, but the newness of the event will probably preclude finding much. There's no war here. Regards, GenQuest "Talk to Me" 02:10, 8 April 2014 (UTC)
- I concur - no war here, and talking it out is always the best way to go. :) BOZ (talk) 03:01, 8 April 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you both for being courteous, helpful editors. I think I see where I may have caused a problem. I probably should have put a note in the talk page explaining my edit. Middlefaire is a privately-owned, permanent setting created by Paul Delacroix and others. It has a number of permanent, Renaissance fair buildings. The fair there is held at different times of the year and with different themes. These include Middlefaire Renaissance Festival, Texas Pirate Festival, and now Texas Fantasy Festival. The site has been featured in several newspapers including The Dallas Morning News, one of the largest circulation papers in the United States; on Texas Country Reporter (both the online listing and the TV program--note it was one of the few events listed on the TV show one week but was not a featured story); and (ahem) was the subject of a 'ren faire speak" article written for Yahoo! that appears here. I would have added the Yahoo! article as a source if not for the fact I wrote it--feel free to add it if you like. Note that I do not own the Middlefaire site or any part of it (you can see the disclaimer I was required to make for Yahoo! on the article), but have been a visitor there. I hope this claries my edit, and that the Texas Fantasy Festival part of Middlefaire can be added back in. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to let me know. Where's Cars of the Philippines discussion?
You merged Cars of the Philippines into Transportation in the Philippines after a discussion according to the edit summary. Where is the record of that discussion? The merger created a very long article consisting mostly of a list of car names and I am wondering why that list shouldn't be either in its own article (which would recreate the cars in... article) or simply deleted. --Iloilo Wanderer (talk) 13:19, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
- @Iloilo Wanderer: see the talk page of the source article for the link to the discussion(s). In this case, it would be the template on top of the Talk:Cars of the Philippines page. I agree the article probably should have been deleted instead, but that's not what AfD reached consensus on. You can ask one of the AfD admins to resurrect the original article (de-merge), but the reason for deleting most articles of this nature usually centers on reliable sourcing, or, rather, the lack thereof. Regards, GenQuest "Talk to Me" 00:05, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

I would like to return your attention to template:Location map Israel incident, where Sepsis II modified a long-standing version of Israeli map to "1949 borders" version without any discussion, suspiciously naming it File:Neutral Israel location map.svg instead of File:Israel location map.svg. I would like your feedback at WP:ANI following your remarks at the talk page. I shall also inform other administrators and editors involved in that incident, now posted at ANI - Gaming the system.GreyShark (dibra) 18:07, 30 April 2014 (UTC)
- I have given my opinions and reasons at the ANI and the talk page's discussion area. Although Sepsis II seems to be an uncivil pain to deal with, and he went about implementing his new map additions in the wrong way, I think a blending of existing maps and his maps can be useful in bringing the article maps into something approaching NPOV. Good luck. GenQuest "Talk to Me" 16:32, 4 May 2014 (UTC)

Basically it's the corporate version of BLPN, where both adverts and attack pages can be brought to the community for broader scrutiny. Except this board does not currently relate to a specific policy like BLPN does, except NPOV, V, etc. (though it could refer to this essay I wrote or something). You participated in the prior village pump discussion that led to consensus for Template:COI editnotice, which is now widely used. Although this noticeboard is not COI-related, I thought you might have an interest in this as well, in whether the noticeboard should be kept and/or in participating in it generally. Your revert of Roanoke colony
Hello. You reverted my edit of the Roanoke colony page, citing "speculative or unconfirmed information about a future event." Please note that the disappearance of the Roanoke colonists happened in the past. Does that make any difference? Akld guy (talk) 05:12, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
- Not really. The addition you made was more of an editorial comment or conclusion, and not very encyclopedic. We only report what others have said on any particular subject, and let the readers draw their own conclusions. Of course, if someone somewhere wrote something similar to what you put in, then in some cases it can be included in the article, but only along with a reliable source. Hope that clears it up for you. GenQuest "Talk to Me" 12:15, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for acknowledging (on my page) that the events happened in the past, not the future as you had claimed. I added my edit of the Roanoke colony page under the heading "Hypotheses about the disappearance" and its sub-heading "Other theories". Please explain why there must be a source for my theory? A theory is a theory. There appears to be an anomaly in Wikipedia's rules that require at least one source even for a theory. Please use some common sense. Akld guy (talk) 19:59, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hello, again. The addition needs a source, even for theories. Your theory of what happened in any past event, and my theory of what happened in that same event, can (and probably are) two very different things. The same could be said for any number of editors around here. However, unless we are notable, and have published our own notable theory (think Mary Leakey), then we can't each include our own theories in articles. That's considered original research, which isn't allowed here. Common sense dictates that a notable theory or two can go into an article. Two, ten, or a hundred non-sourced, non-notable beliefs held by wiki-editors cannot. That's why a citation is needed, it's not an anomaly. See point #4 at What Wikipedia is Not/Crystal. GenQuest "Talk to Me" 22:23, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
- My theory was not bizarre or implausible, but never mind. I've come to the conclusion that Wikipedia has this stupid catch so that unpalatable theories like my one that involved child abuse, adultery, and murder would never make it onto pages. Wikipedia has no common sense. Its amazing that some pages even exist, in spite of its rules. Don't bother responding as you will just be repeating the party line. Akld guy (talk) 03:25, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
- There is no party line to repeat. I am the same as you, a volunteer editor for Wikipedia. Sorry that you can't, or won't, understand what notability is. I have provided the links for you to follow to several sections of the Manual of Style. You can read them and learn to be a better editor, or ignore them and continue to sulk. It's entirely up to you. Personally, I hope you choose to continue editing with us, as caring editors are hard to come by, and judging by this conversation, you seem to care.
