I will adopt you if you like

Let's Work Together

Hello there, MBOmega. I noticed you're currently seeking adoption on Wikipedia. I've been around for a while, and I'd be happy to show you the ropes. (To learn more about me, visit my userpage.) If you'd like to have me as a mentor, just click here to leave me a message, and we'll take it from there.

Welcome to Wikipedia! – Scartol · Talk 17:43, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

"What's next?" Well, that really depends on what you're looking for. I can give you specific assignments or tasks, or you can just ask me questions. Some people prefer a more active mentorship, others prefer something more laid back.

You might want to have a look at my wikithoughts page (read it bottom-to-top), which can give you insight into what I've dealt with and what some common pitfalls are. I see you're involved with the Counter-vandalism unit; that's good. Depending on the kind of work you'd like to do, you may want to join a WikiProject.

So I guess the next step is up to you. Let me know what you have in mind, and we can take it from there. – Scartol · Talk 23:03, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Your First Assignment

Okay, seeing as how you're into video games, your first mission is to choose one of the Video game article requests and make it happen. Since this your first new article, let's start by making it in your sandbox. To make a sandbox, first you need to make a link to your sandbox. So on your userpage somewhere, type:

[[User:MBOmega/sandbox]]

Then save. When the page refreshes, you'll have a red link. (Sorry if I'm going over stuff you already know; I'd rather explain too much than explain too little.) Click the red link and you'll be in a new editing window. You can build the article here. (Once you have something workable, we'll move it into the main article space. Working in the sandbox allows us to fiddle with things freely without other folks butting in.)

Most of the requests have links next to the proposed article title where you can find more information. Make sure you cite your sources and use only reliable sources.

Good luck, have fun – and if you have any questions, ask away! – Scartol · Talk 02:07, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
