I've set up the page here. You know the drill. If you'd like me to change my statement in any way, feel free to contact me. If you have anybody willing to conom you, just drop them a line or ask me to talk to them. Good luck! bibliomaniac15 07:07, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

White Horse prophecy DYK
Thank you for showing your support for my writing efforts on White Horse Prophecy. I had hesitated to not label this page as a stub at first, but given that you and another editor both feel it's beyond stub status, I'll certainly defer to your judgment. I've been editing for five years now, but this is my first DYK submission. Once again, thanks. Richwales (talk) 14:42, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

DYK for Eric Selleck
On June 4, 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Eric Selleck, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

The Military history WikiProject Newsletter : LI (May 2010)
| |||
With Eurocopter's resignation (see editorial below), this month marks the end of his tenure as a project coordinator. Eurocopter has been with the team for almost three years now and will be sorely missed, but he has taken the tough decision that his real life commitments have unfortunately made it too hard for him to focus on his coordinator duties. We wish him good luck in the future, both in real life and on-wiki. Efforts to redesign The Bugle are moving forward and it is our intention to roll out a new format, based on the Signpost, for next month's issue. We hope that this will allow us to provide better coverage of the project's news by allowing more room to expand on the stories we bring to you. If you have any comments or suggestions on what we can do to improve coverage, please let us know. —your IX Coordinator Tranche, May 2010 |

For those of you who might not know me, I'm Eurocopter. I served as a coordinator of the Military history WikiProject from August 2007 until few days ago, when I decided to resign due to real life issues making it impossible for me to continue to perform project duties on a regular basis. Reflecting on my experience and activities within the project, I decided to write this editorial to set out a few thoughts and offer some advice to interested members. First of all, what does project coordination mean and how does it help the Military history WikiProject? Although the coordinators do not have any real executive powers, they play an important role in project management. To make editing contributions easier for our members we establish guidelines, manage Peer and A-Class reviews, and consult and assist when needed. The primary goal of the coordination team has always been to stimulate the development of quality articles and, once they have been developed, to facilitate maintaining them at a high standard for as long as possible. This has been carried out through the organization of a considerable number of assessment drives, contests and special projects. However, there is still much to be done to make the project one of the best and most active wiki-communities. Coordinator involvement in trying to achieve this, as the central promoters of any activity undertaken within the project, is more than important; the coordination team should stand as an example of civilised and constructive cooperation. Perhaps the most annoying issue—unfortunately quite widespread through the pages of Wikipedia—is POV-dominated conflict. While such a phenomenon might seem inevitable in a community within which hundreds of members of different nationalities with different historical and political views interact, it doesn’t mean we should accept it. The ability to neutrally mediate such conflicts is an important and desirable coordinator function. Secondly, but most importantly in my opinion, is the question of how the project enables editors to contribute effectively. Perhaps you already know how difficult it is to take an article to the highest quality levels such as A-Class or featured status. It is even harder to do this working alone. I believe the best thing the Military history WikiProject has done is to bring together groups of editors with similar interests. As there are very few editors skilled in all the diverse article development areas, you might feel the need for help from editors more experienced in, for example, advanced copy editing, image editing etc. To this end the project provides task forces and special projects where members should always feel encouraged to ask questions, discuss, debate and give advice. Such cooperation is the best way to create properly balanced articles and to establish a neutral point of view. Our Style guide and Academy are also useful in guiding you along the path of writing an article. A final, but vital, part of the collaborative article writing process is editor behaviour when interacting with other editors who are contributing to the same article. Even on those occasions where an editor upsets you or allows their personal opinions to influence their editing, always remain calm, civil and try to reach an agreement. Contributing to Wikipedia is something most of us do as a hobby; time spent in useless conflicts is precious editing time wasted. All in all, the Military history WikiProject is a good meeting point for milhist-interested editors, both beginners and advanced, with someone always there to give help and advice when needed. I wish to thank all my fellow coordinators and project members who keep this beautiful community running. I will certainly miss it! Best regards and happy wiki-editing! I see we had an edit conflict on Timeline of the Republic of China's nuclear program. I think my edit covered all of the ones you were making, plus the ones you had planned, so I proceeded with mine. BLP
unsourced BLPs for members of any important sports team, at least from English-speaking countries can always be sourced. The first place to try is G News archive. The second is the club site. I consequently removed your BLP prod on Joe Walsh (footballer) after adding one of the available refs. You could have done it. It's a lot of work checking the prods, and it needs some degree of cooperation by other people not prodding sourceable articles. That way, I & the very few other admins who have taken the responsibility for patrolling prod can concentrate on the ones that may be more difficult to source, and more accurately remove the unsourceable. DGG ( talk ) 19:29, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry about that, I'll try and be more diligent about sourcing members of sports teams. NativeForeigner Talk/Contribs 21:13, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
Hello, just fyi your prod has been contested by the author, so I took this one to afd. Regards, De728631 (talk) 20:28, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

You didn't even give me time to justify my request for deletion of pre coding. The reason is simply that it is an unnecessary and unqualified name whose former article was changed into a redirect as a quick fix. I won't argue, but this redirect is pointless. Nageh (talk) 18:22, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

- Just seen your post when I posted here. The user seems to like to post nonsensical posts like he is from NASA (this time) or he is wanting someone to read his resume (the one before). He seems to be doing it for attention. Oddly, we have several rangeblocks up for him, but he has broken through them, which is slightly annoying. He isn't a very good sock as he has PLAXICO'd himself each time he gets a new account. He shows up on User:Georgewilliamherbert's page or mine with some nonsense. I wish we could cast the wide-net-of-a-rangeblock, but that would cause too much colateral damage. - NeutralHomer • Talk • 04:19, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Bible verses
Following up on the noticeboard discussion, I think the best thing to do is start a new discussion on what the community thinks is best to do with pages like this. I've started a page at Wikipedia:Bible verses/2010. It's been five years since any of this was discussed at all. Most of the people from back then are gone, and the community and its standards have also changed. Hopefully a fresh discussion can result in a resolution everyone will be happy with, and it'd be great to have your participation. - SimonP (talk) 06:06, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, thanks. I undid a few and then thought, wait... 5 years is quite a while. Thanks for bringing this up. NativeForeigner Talk/Contribs 06:06, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
Reviewer
Hi, NativeForeigner. I was reading the Admin noticeboard, where User:Scott Free made self-serving comments about admin User:J Greb, including the remarkable charge of "abuse of admin privileges". If I read correctly, you have elevated Scott Free to reviewer. I would like to point out that he had been banned for a long period for attempting to make the same non-consensus and dishonestly faux-cited edits at John Buscema that he is attempt to make again now.
For the full picture of Scott Free's contentious and dishonest behavior, please see Talk:John Buscema's current discussion and also click in the arbitration box at the top of that page for the discussion that got Scott Free (and myself) banned from that article for a time — a ban extended on Scott Free for exactly the same behavior he is exhibiting now.
His charges against admin J Greb are self-serving misdirection. Scott Free has exhibited much contentious and dishonest behavior, and I'm not sure he should be rewarded for that with Reviewer privileges. --Tenebrae (talk) 03:58, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
- In reply... I agree, Scott Free hasn't been forthright. Secondly, if you didn't already know, reviewer privileges are being distributed to about any editor with 250 edits or more. I think it isn't administrator abuse, at all. But point being, by giving him reviewer rights not much changes. It's still like the article isn't protected, and although his moves haven't been good, I figured the best way to resolve it would be to give him the rather powerless reviewer right, and totally nullify any misguided complaint at admin abuse he could come up with. If he is seen to be abusing it, I have no prejudice against removing it... Even given his not so great editing history, I don't see reason that he would abuse the right to let blatant vandalism into the article, what the reviewer right is for. NativeForeigner Talk/Contribs 06:23, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
- Also, if you have any blatant examples of him misusing the right, it would not be without reason to have a consensus for removal. NativeForeigner Talk/Contribs 06:25, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
- NF: Thank you for the background. You clearly have perspective, and that's to be much appreciated. I'm very glad and gratified you're helping to keep an eye on things. If it's appropriate to stop in at current RfC, please do. With thanks and regards, --Tenebrae (talk) 06:50, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Greetings
Greetings NativeForeigner - just seen that you've extended the debate over at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ian McCormack. Not sure if it's necessary 'cos the creating user specifically asked me to delete it but I left it as an admin task (please see last post by editor at the deletion page and this exchange on talk page). Am interested to know Wikipolicy on this one, i.e. in a speedy delete case, the creator can request deletion, but what happens in an "ordinary" AfD? Cheers! --Technopat (talk) 01:11, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- Got it. I misinterpreted ChildrenOfLight's comment. Hence a fairly easy delete close. NativeForeigner Talk/Contribs 01:43, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
