Hiya Rusty,

How are you, well I hope?

Re jackie Oakes, my understanding is that he didn't play any games at all for Wolves' first team. This is backed up by the info in the references section in the Jackie Oakes page, specifically in the ref to Neil Brown's player database. Neil acknowleges himself that all of the info he has can't be guaranteed as perfect but usually he is spot on. There are contact details for him on his website if you ever need to get in touch with him to clarify. He's a helpful guy.

Up the Queens.

Hiya,

Many thanks for the information with regards to Jackie Oakes' time at Wolves. I will keep up with Neil Brown's database and contact him if need be.

Kind Rgds,

Russel

Hiya Russel,

If you want to list text 'Rangers' as visible and link to the 'Rangers F.C.' page the syntax is as follows (click edit at the top of this page to see it (I've also corrected this in the Jackie Oakes page if that helps you:-

Rangers

The text before the separator is where the text will link to. The text after the separator is what will appear on the page you are editing.

Any other questions you have on wikipedia editing, feel free to ask.

Hiya,

Many thanks. I've managed to go in and amended the other Rangers reference in the same paragraph.

Kind Rgds,

Russel

Hiya Rusty,

My understanding is the wikipedia guideline is only to link to another page the 1st time it is referenced in each article. Thus you don't need to worry about chasing down every link through the article.

Best rgds also —Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.6.130.23 (talk) 15:03, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Many thanks for this information. I'll amend accordingly.

Please don't change date formats in articles. See MOS:DATE#Full_date_formatting for Wikipedia's guidelines. -- Flyguy649 talk 16:06, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi Rusty,

Do you have any references you can add to support the info you are adding? Specifically my re-collection is not that O'Connor was released but that he preferred to take a contract elsewhere. I am happy to be corrected of course.

All the best. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.197.51.157 (talk) 18:39, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Hiya,

If you are referring to O'Connor leaving Queens to go to Morecambe, then I believe that you are correct. I will edit this section promptly.

Rusty

Hi Again,

I have re-edited this part now for you. I hope it now sounds okay.

Cheers for now,

Rusty Welcome!

Hi Rusty,

Thanks for your reply.

Rather than rely on your and my memory which can be subject to human flaws such as error, are you able to add a reference to back the comment up as per wikipedia guidlines? That helps to try to ensure we are dealing in facts.

Regards again.

Hiya,

There may well be something in the official Queen of the South website's archives. I'll try and locate and let you know the link.

Cheers, Rusty

Hi Again,

Located the link from the Queen of the South archives section as per below.

I've amended the wording on the page accordingly, but could you cross reference it for me please? Not sure how to do that yet. Thanks.

http://www.qosarchive.co.uk/may4.htm

Latest News under "Sean Gone - dated 28 May 2004" and also further down the archive page under "Player Leaving - dated 16 May 2004"

Cheers again, Rusty

No problem at all Rusty,

I'm sure you'll find it very easy for a man of your calibre. Click 'edit this page' at the top of your talk page to be able to see the description in full.

Let's take the example of O'Connor returning from retirement. If you look at the reference that is added for that:-

[1] <- this just indicates that it is the end of the reference. As I am sure you will notice it is exactly the same as the beginning of the reference but with a '/' included after the opening bracket.

If you are going to reference a source multiple times in one article, lets use the example of Billy McLaren. If you click on your talk page here to see the text behind this --> [2]

There's this in wikipedia help on using footnotes & refs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Footnotes

Does that make sense? Any questions, feel free to ask.

Very best wishes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.100.250.228 (talk) 11:43, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi Rusty,

I've had a go at tidying up the refs formating on Jimmy Robertson for you.

Hi Rusty,

Mind if I ask why you changed the date format from 21st May to 21 May?

Cheers. Socheid (talk) 18:33, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

I thought the correct date format was (as an example)

23 May 2011 instead of 23rd May 2011

Kind Rgds,

Hi Rusty,

Thanks for your reply. You may well be right, that could well be the agreed date format. Do you have a link to that anywhere please pal?

Thanks for helping me out.

Cheers again. Socheid (talk) 18:33, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Squad template

Hi Rusty,

Good work updating the various pages for QoS players.

If you are ever interested in editing the squad template

Click on the edit page here to see what I have typed. Paste that into the page for any player and it will appear as per what you on this page.

To edit the actual players in the squad template:-

  • scroll down to the template
  • you will see 3 letters on the left of the template, v d e
  • click 'e' and that will let you edit the template

The rest after that I am sure you can figure out.

Thanks again for your help.

Socheid (talk) 18:33, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi Rusty,

There was a problem on your talk page meaning updates added were not appearing when saved. I have removed the cause of this. There are numerous updates appearing now that were added some time back. The only update I have added today is the 1 re squad templates. The other date / time stamps with todays date are misleading.

Socheid (talk) 18:39, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Hey Thanks for adding Marc McCusker & a number of young players to Queen's season page. However When you added Ian McShane to the squad you added 0+1 to his League cup & Challenge cup appearances as you can see here. This is incorrect as 0+1 means he has made a sub appearance which he has not he was an unused sub in both matches. As the table is a special design template which automatically calculates the total, by you adding 0+1 to both League cup & Challenge cup Appearances the total appearances was calculated as 2. When the total is actually 0 at this. Please be more diligent in future & remember to use show preview & fill in edit summaries. Regards (★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★) 12:06, 2 August 2011 (UTC))

Sorry about that. It did cross my mind that with McShane being an unused sub in both cup ties that it looked peculiar. Best Regards, Rusty1111.

As you are a taskforce member I would ask you to submit any new articles you create or articles you have created since the 5 August relating to Scottish football on the project page. Thank you (★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★) 14:18, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

Jimmy Greenock

Yeah sure I'll create the article for you no problem, just send me another message with his details, however all the information must be verifiable so information from your friend must be backed up by references so you’re going to have send me links as well. (★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★) 06:40, 10 September 2011 (UTC))

I'll send you the details over the weekend. Not sure about references from him, but I'll try and source them for you.
I'm going to create the article in my userspace for the moment so it doesn't get deleted & I’ll move it to the Wikipedia mainspace when we find sources proving his details, have you any idea what his date of birth is, is he still alive & was he a left back? Please sign your comments on talk pages. (★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★) 18:09, 12 September 2011 (UTC))

Not sure of his date of birth but I know he died a good few years ago now. The person who's giving me the information (Greenock was his mother's first cousin), so I'll ask him if he knows his date of death. Greenock was a left half, not a left back. In modern day football he would play in central midfield.

Ok I created the article Jimmy Greenock, I'm sure I have the correct date of birth but the date of his death is still an issue I have it as the 18 April 2005, but I think that was the date he was buried rather than the date he died. He definitely made 188 league appearances scoring 13 league goals for Queens as you said. You were correct when you said he made 236 appearances in total; however Queens said he scored 14 goals in total meaning he only scored one cup goal & you said it was 3 so I have no idea which is correct because I don't have the necessary references. I'll try to find the match reports for the cup games you said he scored in. Feel free to edit the article. Regards (★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★) 16:06, 13 September 2011 (UTC))

Many thanks for all your help. I'll try and clarify those items you have highlighted. I would tend to go with Queens records on him rather than my source to be honest. He had references from books he had that may not be accurate.

Hi Rusty,

Fine work on the Queen of the South page for the 2011-12 season.

Any chance you could make it even better and add a match report reference beside each score?

Well done again. Socheid (talk) 16:28, 22 September 2011 (UTC)

Many Thanks Socheid, I've got the match reports, mostly from BBC Sport for each game that is listed. What do you mean by a match report reference? Rusty1111 (talk)

Hey Rusty,

A few issues with Queen of the South's season article:

  • Wikipedia doesn't have intellectual property rights to future league fixtures & therefore we can't display them (this also applies to season articles for English clubs), as you went to the trouble of added all the league fixtures, I didn't want your work to be in vain so I hid future league fixtures rather than deleting them.
  • Only the top goalscorer or joint top goalscorers should be displayed in the infobox. If you want to display all goalscorers then you can create a wikitable further down the page.
  • Adding scores to infoboxes should be avoided. Cheers, (★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★) 23:36, 24 September 2011 (UTC))

That's no problem at all. Thanks for all the information.

Rusty1111

Hello Rusty, if you want to solve the problem of the space between the (win, loss & draw) legend & the pre-season results you could consider writing a short "overview" of the season so far or a longer passage "story of the season". (★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★) 19:23, 26 September 2011 (UTC))

Many Thanks. I'll consider writing a short overview of the season or a longer passage story of the season. Rusty1111

Queen of the South Stats

Ok take a look here first [1], [2], [[3]
Then as per BBC match reports:

  • Craig Reid 6 starts v Livingston,Ross County,Partick,Hamilton,Morton,Ayr
  • Alan Reid 5 starts 1 v sub Livingston(sub),Raith Rovers,Ross County,Partick,Hamilton,Dundee FC
  • Ryan Smylie 4 subs Livingston,Ross County,Ayr,Dundee FC (★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★) 11:28, 3 October 2011 (UTC))

I'd rather rely on Queens player stats for this season from the official website link that I have given to be honest. Rusty 1111

This took me some time but it proves without a doubt that Queen of the South have got their own stats wrong.
Here are Queen's own match reports. Please take the time to read all of Queen of the South reports. They verify that QOS have got their own stats table incorrect & I'll have to revert your changes regards you should consider emailing them to correct it. (★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★) 11:28, 3 October 2011 (UTC))

  • Livingston C.Reid 1+0, A.Reid 0+1, Ryan Smylie 0+1
  • Raith A Reid 1+1
  • Ross County C.Reid 2+0, A.Reid 2+1, Ryan Smylie 0+2
  • Partick C.Reid 3+0, A.Reid 3+1
  • Hamilton C.Reid 4+0, A.Reid 4+1
  • Morton C. Reid 5+0
  • Ayr A.Reid 5+1, Ryan Smylie 0+3
  • Dundee C.Reid 6+1, Ryan Smylie 0+4
(doesn't say at top but smylie did play read lower down Clark left the game after being caught in a heavy tackle and was replaced by Ryan Smillie for the remaining couple of minutes, but right on the stroke of full-time it was the visitors who almost claimed all three points).

Are we now agreed on the appearance stats? Oh & by the way please please please sign your comments (it shows you at the top of the talk page how to do so) as it makes it easier to see who said what. I'll look into Stephen Simmons disciplinary record & i'll get back to you. Regards (★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★) 11:57, 3 October 2011 (UTC))

Agreeing with you on the appearance stats. Thanks for looking into Simmons disciplinary record for me also. I've amended back to original stats for Simmons disciplinary record (as you've probably noticed) as per the BBC match report where only Higgins & McKenna were booked by the referee. Thanks, Rusty1111
I've had another look at the stats for Alan & Craig Reid and Ryan Smylie in more detail. You have C.Reid 6+1 for the Dundee game but it was A.Reid that played on Saturday, as Craig is still injured, so A.Reid should be 6+1 and C.Reid should be still 5+0. I agree with the one extra appearance for Smylie as written in the match report but not detailed at the top where the team and subs are listed. I will now alter both Reid stats to show this change. (RUSTY 15:21, 4 October 2011 (UTC))
Also meant to say, I get the Queens match programmes and they had C.Reid having played 9 times this season in the programme before the Dundee game and A.Reid having played 10 games before the Dundee game. So with Craig out injured and Alan playing v Dundee, this gets the season totals to 11 for Alan and still 9 for Craig. (RUSTY 15:27, 4 October 2011 (UTC))
I've got a feeling that Simmons wasnt booked on Saturday and it is an error on the Queens website having a yellow card next to his name, as the official match report says 2 Queens players were booked, (Higgins & McKenna) and the BBC match report says the same. (RUSTY 15:32, 4 October 2011 (UTC))
You're right, Alan Reid did play against Dundee not Craig. However I wouldn't rely on Queens stats table in the future as they have Smylie's stats incorrect. As for Simmons I'm pretty sure he wasn't booked. I created a new category Sportspeople from Dumfries. If you want you can start adding the category to articles of sportpeople you know/find who were born in Dumfries. (★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★) 14:13, 6 October 2011 (UTC))
I agree with you on Simmons not being booked versus Dundee. I did notice that Smylie's stats are incorrect on the Queens stats table as they never had him appearing as a substitute on the official match report, although the BBC match report did so. I'm glad we've agreed on the Alan & Craig Reid dilemma now. I'll try and add people to the Dumfries Sportspeople. (RJC 14:37, 6 October 2011 (UTC))

I see that you increased Lee Robinson's bookings to 1 after the Falkirk match & that Queen of the South indicated he was booked in their match report unlike BBC. My Question is why did you add the QOSFC match report & then remove. If it's right then leave it there. (★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★) 14:31, 20 October 2011 (UTC))

I've amended the match report vs. Falkirk back to the QOS Official Match Report as per dicussion above regarding Lee Robinson's booking. RJC 13:22, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

Alexander "Jimmy" Gray (footballer)

I've had a look since you added him to the Scottish articles to be created list & I can't find anything whatsoever about him apart from the articles confirming the fact he is Queen of the South's record goalscorer for a league season. With such a lack of information it's more than likely that the article will never be created. If you have any info then please send it to me. (★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★) 14:03, 10 October 2011 (UTC))

I will try and source information for him from the club's historian, Ian Black.(RJC 13:03, 13 October 2011 (UTC))
Asked on the club's unofficial site's message board and a few Queens history books reckon that he arrived at Palmerston from Bristol Rovers. Actually Bristol City.here (RJC 15:27, 13 October 2011 (UTC))
Had a search under his proper name & no results, however books & library related things can be referenced don't know how exactly it works but I'll find out. (★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★) 14:20, 13 October 2011 (UTC))
Unfortunately there isn't enough referenceable information available to create an article. (★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★) 14:10, 20 October 2011 (UTC))

This is a shame. It would be nice to get some reference material so that an article could be created in due course. (RJC 15:19, 20 October 2011 (UTC))

Robbie Neilson

As far as I know he is still a free agent he was expected to join Notts County & didn't, then he was training with Falkirk. (★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★) 15:04, 28 October 2011 (UTC))

Thanks for that. I had noticed reports on him perhaps going to Notts County and training with Falkirk. I'm surprised he hasn't found a club. RJC 15:09, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
Transfermarkt is a good place to find if free agents have found a new club especially for lesser known & youth players although it shouldn't be used as reference.

Hey Rusty, sorry for the incredible slow response have been offline the last seven weeks. Anyway in regards to Mark Durnan an article cannot be created as he hasn't played in a fully professional league & hasn't received significant media coverage therefore failing both guidelines WP:GNG & WP:NFOOTBALL. One of the pitfalls of relegation in relation to Wikipedia. As for the photo unfortunately it is copyright of Queen the South & would be deleted within seven days of upload. ★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★ 15:22, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

It's incredible to think that Scottish Divisions 2 & 3 are not deemed professional leagues even though Scottish Division 1 is. RJC 15:28, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
All the teams have to be professional for the league to be considered a fully professional hence the second & third division aren't. The first division has been the source of some debate as sometimes there is one club or so that aren't but most editors are agreed it should be inculded in the FPL list. ★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★ 15:41, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

I know that the source does not state that it was the 46th season of competitive football in Scotland but I only had the reference to confirm the league tables were correct. RJC 13:09, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

In that case, please could you try to place inline references in the correct place, i.e. next to the information that is being referenced. It makes things much clearer. Thanks. --Jameboy (talk) 13:18, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

I will do in the future. Sorry for the confusion. RJC 13:57, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

I assume you will alter the inline reference for me in the correct place? RJC 14:03, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

As of next season i have decided to no longer mass create & update new season pages for Scottish football concentrating only on about two pages. I thought you should know that the rules of Wikipedia states that if a link is mentioned then it should not be repeated elsewhere on the same page? Rusty1111 : Talk 16:06, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

If a link is used within the main body of the article, it should not be repeated. Links within the lead and/or infobox are not covered by this. All the team names in the article need to be linked at their first use after the lead. -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 16:12, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

Invite to the African Destubathon

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:14, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

Re: Stephen Dobbie

I fixed what I could see to be wrong, if you have any other issues let me know. Also the infoxbox is treated differently to the career statistics table, the infobox goes by the year the player joined or left a club & the table goes by seasons, therefore I reverted some of the changes to the infobox. Lastly, if you're having issues adding full citations rather than bare urls, then use the cite function in the edit toolbar, I think this video will help you greatly. For the larger table, covering individual seasons? You could, though it would be quite a bit of work. You'd have to alter the parameters at the beginning of the table, and then manually add the {{#expr:}} template for each season. Exxy (talk) 14:45, 3 February 2017 (UTC)

Re: Football players photos

Hi Rusty, the only image of Derek Lyle in Wikipedia Commons, is the one currently being used on his page. The fact he's played more games for Queens doesn't mean an image of him representing Queen of the South would take precedent over the current image, image quality has to be taken into account. That said, it be great to have a good quality, up to date image of him from his current spell at Queens. I suggest you read Wikipedia:Image use policy, as Wiki can be quite restrictive on what images you can use. Once you've done that, and have established a certain image is permitted and suitable, you'll have to upload it to Wikipedia Commons. Here's a video on how to do so. ★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★ 00:03, 14 April 2017 (UTC)

Re: Queen of the South

Hi Rusty, there are templates available at Template:Football kit/pattern list which can be used, although usually if it's a bespoke kit I just create it in MS Paint and then upload them to Wikimedia Commons. Last year I did Dunfermline's home and away kits, as well as a few other bespoke kits. I'd happily create the QoS kits, though I'd be tempted to wait a little while for better quality images, just so I can make sure I get it right. Do you mean the 'Current season' link on Queen of the South F.C.? That's usually in the infobox, under the 'current' parameter. Though I obviously wouldn't advise altering it just yet, as the season isn't quite over! Not sure if I'm heading down next week, though Palmerston is one of only 3 Championship stadiums that I haven't visited yet, so that may influence things! I'll let you know if I decide to head down though :) Exxy (talk) 09:57, 28 April 2017 (UTC)

Uploaded provisional 2017/18 kits for Queens. At the moment they're based on the not-so-great images on the club's website, so I'll probably alter them a little in the next few weeks when better images become available. Let me know what you think of these though! Exxy (talk) 14:41, 8 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi Rusty, thanks for all your edits on Owen's and other QoS players' pages recently, the bios definitely read much better now.

However, I notice on Owen's article you changed the youth club from Lochar Thistle Youths to Lochar Thistle, I initially was going to write the same, but I was hesitant to after reading the youth club's website. Perhaps you could shed some light on whether they are indeed the same club. The youth club's website did not mention any direct association and I can't find any mention of the youth club on the main club's page that would suggest a link ([4] [5]). Furthermore, what was odd was that the youth club had "been associated with first Dalbeattie Star then Threave Rovers as we sought to keep our older boys in football" when surely they would have been a feeder club for the main Lochar Thistle if they were indeed the same. As I say, I'm no expert on this so if you could help to clarify the situation then that would be brilliant. Maesterial (talk) 12:25, 30 April 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for the speedy response on my talk page, I must have been browsing Soccerbase too quickly when looking for Connor Murray's debut. If it's ok with you though, I'll edit the article on Owen Bell so that it refers to the "Lochar Thistle Youths" again, better to be overly specific than suggest he played for the wrong club. Maesterial (talk) 12:42, 30 April 2017 (UTC)

Re: Queens vs Pars

Hey buddy, sorry for the delayed response! I've been in Stranraer for the last few days visiting relatives so I wasn't able to make the match today, apologies for not letting you know sooner! Managed to get some intermittent updates on Twitter (internet availability was sketchy!) but didn't realise there'd been a goal until about 9pm when I arrived home. Shame I missed it, been wanting to visit Palmerston for a while but it's never really been convenient! Exxy (talk) 22:48, 6 May 2017 (UTC)

Re: Queen of the South main page

As far as I can tell, since last August, SPFL clubs' (and a few others) positions and leagues are now updated semi-automatically at the end of the season using Template:Scottish football updater. I have no idea how it works, but I presume that it'll be done some time in the next few weeks, once the season concludes properly. Exxy (talk) 15:56, 7 May 2017 (UTC)

RE: Queen of the South Third Kit for Season 2017-18

A third kit? How unusual for a tier two team! Was it anything like this top?[6] Had a wee look around on P&B and elsewhere but haven't found any images of the match just yet. Yeah, going great guns at the minute! Was a bit worried at the beginning of the League Cup about our lack of signings but AJ seems to have done the business once again. Here's hoping it continues!

Decent pumping of Falkirk today btw, very good stuff! :P Exxy (talk) 18:29, 26 August 2017 (UTC)

Added to the QoS main article and 2017–18 season article. Fairly simple shirt to create, with it being the training top! :) Exxy (talk) 09:40, 27 August 2017 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Dale Hilson, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Paisley (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Famousbirthdays.com as a source

Hi Rusty1111 . I noticed that you recently used famousbirthdays.com as a source for information in a biography article [7]. Please note that there is general consensus that famousbirthdays.com does not meet the reliable sourcing criteria for the inclusion of personal information in such articles. (See Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard/Archive_153#Is_famousbirthdays.com_a_reliable_source_for_personal_information). If you disagree, let's discuss it. Thanks. --Ronz (talk) 17:25, 8 December 2017 (UTC)

RE: Pars v Doonhamers Part Two

Hi, no after the dreadful performances against Dumbarton and Morton I decided to give it a miss. Can't say I'm that upset about it. From the highlights it's clear that we were - as we have been in recent months - utterly atrocious, and Queens quite rightly took advantage of our terrible defensive mistakes. That said, a few of the goals were fairly nice! How was the Ayr-QP match? Love a wee trip to Somerset! Exxy (talk) 15:47, 13 December 2017 (UTC)

Re: Lee Robinson

Happy new year to you too! :) When the rumours started yesterday morning I had no idea who Lee Robinson was, and after looking him up and remembering the Nicky Clark goal at the end of last season, I honestly dreaded the thought of us signing him. But he made a real impression with the fans yesterday, making some really vital saves to get us our first clean sheet since October! Well deserving of his MotM as well! :D Exxy (talk) 18:34, 3 January 2018 (UTC)

Right enough, I can remember there was a bit of a furore before the season started and when Queens were trying to get Alan Martin in. Look forward to seeing him in action on Saturday, Murdoch's form has dipped in the last few months so some competition is much needed! Exxy (talk) 11:09, 5 January 2018 (UTC)

Re: Pars v Doonhamers

Yeah, think most Pars fans were delighted that Dobbie wasn't in the squad! Queens missed him though, didn't seem to have any sort of edge in the final third. Yeah AJ is a great guy, no denying that. Just not sure that he's the person to take us to the next level. If we don't make the play-offs then he'll most definitely be out the door - and even if we do make them, his contract is up so it might be the right time to bring in someone else. Our first half performance was probably as good as we've played this year, but we fell away in the second due to tiredness. Was nice to extend the season by two matches though, and the support at Tannadice on Friday was immense! Orphaned non-free image File:Stephen Dobbie October 2018.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Stephen Dobbie October 2018.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 02:53, 14 October 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:03, 14 October 2018 (UTC)

Hi Rusty - please follow wiki club season article guidelines when making edits to this article. You are severely overlinking to the Queen of the South main article, you are overlinking to the 2020–21 Scottish Championship article, using incorrect dashes in scorelines, and not correctly marking rounds in league and cup play. Infobox stats

As @Walter Görlitz: has also commented in edit summaries, please do not update the time & date in the infobox if there has been no change to the stats. GiantSnowman 09:32, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

To be fair, I understand the logic. A player was on the roster for a specific match-day and did not play so it's "good" to have the recorded, but the count not incrementing and an earlier update timestamp indicates that to a reader as well. Walter Görlitz (talk) 23:07, 30 December 2020 (UTC)
Edits like this cannot be justified - thoughts @Walter Görlitz:? GiantSnowman 21:51, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
Oh my. I suppose it it's a waste, but I hope it's unambiguous at that time. However, as a general principle—and this has been stated already—updating only the timestamp with no change to the statistics, should not be done. While I both understand and appreciate the round numbers, it is a superfluous edit. With that said, reverting it to be WP:POINTY as I have done is not much better. I trust that a discussion here makes the point just as forcefully. Walter Görlitz (talk) 00:28, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
I don't see what the big fuss is with changing time and date in the infobox. If the whole squad stats are altered whether they play or not after every match to be uniform what is the problem. Rusty1111 : Talk 09:28, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
Are you reading what we've written? If a player has not played, one does not need to update the infobox for the player. This is not about uniformity but about being correct. if t he player did not play on a specific matchday, it is unnecessary to update that player's infobox for that matchday. It gives the impression that the player did last play on a matchday where they did not actually play. That's what the problem is. Walter Görlitz (talk) 09:40, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
I agree with Walter. You should not be updating the infobox to make stats boxes uniform if a player has not played. GiantSnowman 09:50, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
I disagree. @FkpCascais: made a good point in this discussion:
"This issue has been setled long time ago. It was decided the timestamp would indicate that the stats are correct as to the date, rather than indicating the date of the last game. Once this was decided, updating a timestamp with correct stats is allways beneficial. Having an old timestamp is unproductive as it leaves readers wandering if stats may have changed by now."
Robby.is.on (talk) 14:48, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

I agree wholeheartedly. Discussion over. Rusty1111 : Talk 15:09, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

Dates in infobox

If a player's loan began in January 2021, then we just display '2021' in the infobox, and NOT '2020–2021'. I have corrected your changes to the Dapo Mebude/Isaiah Jones articles. GiantSnowman 21:02, 25 May 2021 (UTC).

Should have remembered that. Will change the other ones back. Rusty1111 : Talk 08:37, 26 May 2021 (UTC)

Please don’t copy and paste a reply I made to you in another user’s talk page, and then replace my signature with yours. Moreover, don’t just simply add your request to someone else’s completely unrelated request. — Marchjuly (talk) 04:49, 31 October 2021 (UTC)

Okay, fair enough. Thanks. Rusty1111 : Talk 10:09, 31 October 2021 (UTC)

Reliable sources

The "sources" you're adding to 2022–23 Queen of the South F.C. season are not reliable sources- reliable sources are newspapers reports, website (not blogs or fan sites). Please stop adding unreliable sources to articles, as you will continue to be reverted if you do. Joseph2302 (talk) 12:37, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

I'm wondering why previous seasons when I've posted match photos from the official Queens website, these are suddenly now unsuitable? Also, is location a new part of the match details? Rusty1111 : Talk 18:01, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Please don't do things like refer to clubs only by their nicknames, or remove sources. GiantSnowman 20:57, 23 June 2023 (UTC)

You've done it again here - nobody knows who the 'Doonhammers' are, stop referring to clubs by their nicknames. GiantSnowman 20:51, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
