Jj express magazine[edit]

Could you please undelete this article? We have received OTRS permission for it which I can add as soon as it is restored. VernoWhitney (talk) 18:56, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

i've restored the 1 edit that was made by the user, and moved it to User:Jjjwchen/Jj_express_magazine. Is this good? Soap 19:00, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
That works fine. I've added the OTRS tag and will let them know where the article has been restored. Thanks! VernoWhitney (talk) 19:32, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Who'd you piss off today?[edit]

Or was that just a random bombing? HalfShadow 01:14, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

It was due to my stopping their attempted vandalism on another user's page. I've already sent off an email with more information. I would have protected my page myself, but I had to step out of the room for a few minutes. Soap 09:58, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Well, I'll keep an eye on you for a bit; I highly doubt I'm the only one, but now I'm one more. HalfShadow 20:16, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Your deleted VPT question[edit]

Yes, it's wikEdDiff. It happened to me as well (and it happened before on wikEdDiff upgrades). I made it work by clearing the cache and restarting Firefox.—Emil J. 11:05, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Dogfish Jim...[edit]

Blocks do that automatically, even though the blocking admin doesn't know the underlying IP. The fact that he was able to keep coming back shows that he must have access to either a mobile IP address, or a range of static ones. Soap 14:54, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the maintenance stuff while I slept! Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:32, 8 October 2010 (UTC)

No, not a lot of enemies...[edit]

I appear to have made one though, although his ire is somewhat misplaced. He's User:Sleeping water, who was posting some unorthodox material on Celts over the last few months. He appears to have mistaken me for his arch-nemesis because I placed some warning templates on his talk page. I'm away from my home computer at the moment, so don't have a great deal of time to devote to wikipedia, but I'm not overly worried. I'll get a sock investigation going once I'm back. Catfish Jim and the soapdish (talk) 18:39, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

As a related question, is there a way of checking if a user is banned or restricted from editing a particular article or its talk page? Thanks. Catfish Jim and the soapdish (talk) 17:43, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

Thanks... The person I had in mind isn't on there, but there's sufficient evidence that they believe they are banned from editing... here, for example. I'm not sure of the best way to procede on this. Catfish Jim and the soapdish (talk) 18:18, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

What was your newest fan referring to?[edit]

Just so I know if I should keep an eye on another page. HalfShadow 00:22, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

I've done a few page protections and vandalism deletions tonight; mostly this is what they're on about, I'm sure. I can explain more fully over email if you'd like, as I did before. Soap 00:41, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
Nah, like before the specifics aren't as important as who or what I should be keeping an eye on. Often they think if they've got access to proxies, they rule the world, so they may or may not stop. HalfShadow 00:45, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
I think they pretty much pick random targets. User talk:Supreme Deliciousness was the most recent but I'm not sure that is evidence of a long term pattern. Soap 09:49, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

Sonichu-related vandalism[edit]

Hi, I know it seems a bit pedantic to explain the adminhelp template to this user but this was the nature of the request they made to my user talk page. Obviously this is a non-starter but at least they are using their own talk page rather than lobbying on articles until they get blocked. Thanks, (talk) 22:39, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

Online pharmacy[edit]

Hey, regarding the online pharmacy article, we have follwoe all your guidelines, we are not trying to advertise, there are no links whatsoever. We are simply trying to offer a genuine update int he field of pharmacy which we feel is landmark. What are we doing wrong that the other guys on top of us(pharmacy2u) and below us (dr fox) are doing right? Surely in that view they are all advertising? I dont understand what you expect? The sentence is clearly non advertising? —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 11:08, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

It doesn't help readers learn about the concept of an online pharmacy. Even if it did, you would need to create an article for the site first (and ensure that it meets all of our guidelines, such as being mentioned and described in detail by unrelated entities) and then we can talk about mentioning it on the online pharmacy article. This is not, of course, a recommendation that you create an article about OneClickPharmacy that doesnt meet the requirements, as that would be seen as worse, not better, than doing nothing. Soap 11:13, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

I do understand that, and thats why we provided links initially to independent pharmacy news organisation which are respected, and we were dismissed as advertising? Here are the links, judge for you self please and help me idnetify how to resolve this. I think it definitely fits in the online pharmacy article here as the marketplace houses online pharmacies in the UK, only the genuine regulated ones. This helps patients buy online safely as they are all registered. Links to prove it is news independently:

What is your view on this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 11:29, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

I've removed those other entries, for the same reason as I removed yours. I don't really think your response to me answers the objection I put out, though. The online pharmacy is not meant to be a list of online pharmacies, and if there was a list of online pharmacies it would only be those that have their own Wikipedia articles, and if you want to build a Wikipedia article about the pharmacy you would have to first prove show that it meets the notability requirements (which it may, I really am not the best person to ask for that), and get it off the blacklist (which even I cannot do). As for why those other links were on there, I imagine it just is because nobody notices them at the time that people were paying attention to you. As we're all unpaid volunteers, that doesn't surprise me. Also, if you see improper links to other sites such as that, you've just as much authority to remove them as I or anyone else would. Soap 12:47, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Our note is supposed to be progress and about online pharmacy int he UK. The UK has a marketplace for online pharmacies... much like this line still there: The first internet pharmacy in the UK was Pharmacy2U, which started operating in November 1999, after being backed from the British government.[21]

I still fail to understand how this line is relevant and yet the same development in a different form like ours is not? Also how do we get ourself removed from the blacklist as we got our knickers in a twist trying to understnad how this works whilst getting blacklisted irresponsibly?

Thank you —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 13:00, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

That was added by someone else, which I understand because it was a third-party source mentioning that site, rather than the site itself. I still don't agree with it but I won't remove it. If you want to have your site removed from the blacklist you should request it on MediaWiki_talk:Spam-blacklist#Proposed_removals. Soap 13:03, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Can anything be done about that one? Catfish Jim and the soapdish (talk) 17:25, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

It would be automatically blocked ("autoblocked") for 24 hours by the other blocks, which is as good as anything since I suspect he's using a mobile IP. Though I see Tnxman has gone on to block it for 2 weeks in addition. That's good, because I wouldn't have been comfortable making that block myself without seeing the checkuser evidence. It could theoretically have been a coincidence, however unlikely. Soap 18:06, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
Thanks Soap, I didn't know about the autoblock function... good to know. Catfish Jim and the soapdish (talk) 19:21, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Soap's mother?[edit]

That IP you just blocked, is that Catlover324, you think? Drmies (talk) 20:01, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

I doubt it, this has been going on for a while. The first page of this kind that I found was entitled Talk:The_Thing_that_needs_to_fuck_off, back on September 28, but I get the impression he was already well-established by that point. Unfortunately it's not really easy to search for deleted pages so I can't find the "original", although I know he has had at least one named account, it wasn't older than the IP edits. Soap 20:09, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
Well, my apologies to Catlover then. Hope you're still enjoying the job! (Hey, maybe it's someone at The Thing's RfA...I know, that's a bad joke.) Drmies (talk) 20:11, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi Soap - JFYI - the UAA holding pen does have a bot (or at least it did) so I'm glad you left the edit summary that you did. I noticed the last time the bot edited was just before someone renamed the page to a capital H. I've moved it back and the bot started up immediately. That's a long way of saying that hopefully you won't need to remove blocked users in the future (however we still need to clear the old backlog of "waiting" users ourselves). Good catch.  7  12:16, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

I'm confused; Kanterbrau and Kopacabana might not even be related to Sleeping water, since what they're doing is so different than the others, but they're surely socks of each other, and surely not new users, so I've indeffed both of them as well.
