Why full protection?

Not sure why you felt this [1] was necessary. The article hadn't been edited for nearly 6 hours when you locked it. While there was some back and forth, discussion was being attempted and there really was no disruption there. -- WV 15:26, 6 February 2015 (UTC)

If I may add my voice, I too am concerned about this action and wonder, with respect, whether an adequate investigation of the article's history was performed. There have been false death dates added by some half-dozen editors; hardly an onslaught. There has been (mostly minor) back and forth with respect to (mostly minor) grammatical issues, of which I have been a part; none of this rose to the level of edit-warring, IMHO. In short, Winkelvi is correct, and I request that protection be lifted. —ATinySliver/ATalkPage 20:12, 6 February 2015 (UTC)

Maria Björnson‎

Hi! Thanks for your help at Maria Björnson‎. There's a little problem, though: whatever you did doesn't seem to have worked! I can still see the versions of the article that should be hidden, and I'm not an admin (or of course I'd have done the revdel myself). Just to be clear: what I expect to see is that the time and date of the offending edits is struck through and greyed out, but that the editors' names are still visible in full technicolor for attribution - as for example here. Would you mind looking at it again? I'd be grateful. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 01:03, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

Done I'm not sure why it glitched out. But it appears to work after I did it again. --wL<speak·check> 05:55, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
Thank you! But I'm afraid you've overshot the mark this time – normally the username(s) and edit summaries are left visible, and just the date and time are greyed out and struck through, as in the example I gave above. Would you mind having another crack at it? I'd appreciate it. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 10:24, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

SF edit-a-thons on March 7 and 8

ArtAndFeminism (3/7) and International Women's Day (3/8)!

Dear fellow Wikipedian,

In celebration of WikiWomen's History Month, the SF Bay Area Wikipedia community has two events in early March -- please consider attending!

First, we have an ArtAndFeminism edit-a-thon, which will take place at the Kadist Art Foundation from 12 noon to 6pm on Saturday, March 7. We'll be one of many sites worldwide participating in this edit-a-thon on March 7th. So join us as we help improve Wikipedia's coverage of women artists and their works!

Second, we will be celebrating International Women's Day with the International Women's Day edit-a-thon on Sunday, March 8 from 1pm to 5pm at the Wikimedia Foundation. Our editing focus will be on women, of course!

I hope to see you there! Rosiestep (talk) - via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:06, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Interview for The Signpost

This is being sent to you as a member of WikiProject Christianity

The WikiProject Report would like to focus on WikiProject Christianity for a Signpost article. This is an excellent opportunity to draw attention to your efforts and attract new members to the project. Would you be willing to participate in an interview? If so, here are the questions for the interview. Just add your response below each question and feel free to skip any questions that you don't feel comfortable answering. Multiple editors will have an opportunity to respond to the interview questions, so be sure to sign your answers. If you know anyone else who would like to participate in the interview, please share this with them. Thanks, Rcsprinter123 (interview) @ 19:57, 7 March 2015 (UTC)

Changes in MGCI article

Hi,

I forgot to put the reason as to why I deleted the previous changes in MCGI article. But if you're going to view the history of that article, many times I had reverted changes from other contributors to a simple fact that posts were just from their personal opinion with no valid source. Others tend to put exaggerated information that are unacceptable and misleading. This policy will always be enforced whenever it is needed.

Help me rename an article

Hi, There is a page name called "Kobane" ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kobanî ) but this page name is incorrect. The official name of this town is "Ayn al-Arab" ( you can read the history here: http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/explained-kobane-or-ayn-al-arab.aspx?PageID=238&NID=73591&NewsCatID=359 )

Can you change the name back to "Ayn al-Arab" which the page was orginally named because it was edited last year. Even the article states the following, " The Arabic name ʿAyn al-ʿArab, "Spring of the Arabs", a translation of the Ottoman Turkish name Arab Pinar, was introduced officially by the Syrian government as part of a broader Arabization effort in the 1980s"

Even Bing Maps lists it as "Ayn al-Arab".

Here is a UN Map:

```` — Preceding unsigned comment added by Danielspencer2 (talkcontribs) 12:31, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
Not done. Even though Ayan al-Arab is an official name, Kobanî is a better known name than Ayn al-Arab. --wL<speak·check> 18:26, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
I have responded at WP:ANI. --wL<speak·check> 19:41, 25 July 2015 (UTC)
Please explain again. I redacted the one personal attack, which was inadvertent. But you say I made personal attacks at ANI, which I don't see: I criticized his behaviour, which was hypocritical, but did not attack his person. From what I understand, criticizing behaviour is not a violation of NPA. If it is, how do I determine which criticisms are allowed? Others have called him a hypocrite without using the word. Is that acceptable? If so, how do I know which words are not acceptable? "Vandal" is evidently okay, and that's far more of a personal attack that saying someone is being a hypocrite, since the former characterizes the person and the other the behaviour. Since this is my only warning, and I cannot afford to make another mistake, how do I know which words to avoid? — kwami (talk) 20:07, 25 July 2015 (UTC)
Template
Hi. Where can I talk about the template? The User Wrabbjr902 made some changes before the full protection. First, he puts Christian, Sandow, Hornswoggle as unassigned. They are inactive, but they are assigned to the main roster. Second, he puts Ryder, Emma and Eva Marie as NXT Wrestlers. Their profiles are in WWE.com main roster, so they are assigned to the main roster. Third, he puts Billie Kay, Blue Pants, Nia Jax and Peyton Royce as NXT talents. They haven't a profile in NXT section, so they aren't assigned to NXT. I talked with Wrabbjr902, but he didn't listen. I warned him, but he deleted my warning. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 11:14, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
Hi Leon, I noticed that you blocked this user as a sockmaster last April. You also blocked several of their socks. I've come across a user that I suspect may be related to these accounts. Unfortunately, the technical data on the accounts you blocked (I'm a CheckUser) is stale. That said, I imagine you are more familiar with the behavioral characteristics of the master/socks than I am. Thus, I wondered if you'd mind taking a look at "my" account and letting me know what you think. It is Crossleague. Thanks very much.--Bbb23 (talk) 14:24, 12 October 2015 (UTC)
@Bbb23 I think WP:DUCK should apply in this case. --wL<speak·check> 22:35, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for your input. Sorry if my post confused you. BTW, just a word about sock templates. You shouldn't be using {{sockpuppeteer|blocked|checked=yes}} or {{sock|Labgown|confirmed}} unless you are a CheckUser. For the master you should use {{sockmaster|blocked}}, and for a puppet either {{sock|Labgown|blocked}} or {{sock|Labgown|proven}}. "Proven" is used when it's very obvious, whereas "blocked" when it's less so.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:02, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. This exercise, pioneered by Wikipedians Nikola Kalchev and Vassia Atanassova in 2015 and conducted in many places around the world, will help us all - from first-time wiki users to veteran Wikipedians - share ideas, while building an article together. If you have ideas (relating to Bay Area history, ideally) about a new article we could build (stubs and short existing articles are fine), please submit them ahead of time to coordinator Pete Forsyth. (User talk page or email is fine.)
  • Former EFF intern Marta Belcher will discuss crowdsourcing her Stanford Law School graduation speech using a wiki. Hi folks,
We would like to invite you to this month's Bay Area WikiSalon. The last Wednesday evening of every month, Wikipedia and Wikimedia enthusiasts gather to collaborate, mingle, and learn about new projects and ideas.
We will have no formal agenda to allow people to freely share ideas and perhaps learn about Wikipedia through hands-on editing. Co-organizer Ben Creasy will be looking at election-related articles to enhance the information available in the upcoming November elections.
Official logo of Wiki Loves Monuments
Co-organizer Stephen LaPorte has suggested doing an upload-a-thon for Wiki Loves Monuments. Niki, the California coordinator for WLM will be in attendance. WLM is an annual event and the official dealine is Friday the 30th for submissions to count towards awards.
Or, you can grab a couch, a booth, or a stool and do your own thing.
You are invited to a Wednesday evening event in SF
Please join us in downtown San Francisco!
A Wikipedia panel discussion about journalism
Hi folks,
Please copy and share this on other talk pages. We would like to invite you to this month's Bay Area WikiSalon. The last Wednesday evening of every month, Wikipedia and Wikimedia enthusiasts gather at the Wikimedia Foundation lounge to collaborate, mingle, and learn about new projects and ideas.
We will have no meaty agenda this month, but we will allow a brief period for:
  • Open mic for anybody who attended WikiConference North America 2016 in San Diego last week and wants to share their takeaway
  • Question & answer
  • Open mic for announcements
  • Maybe a focus on some topical election article editing with Ben?
Or, you can grab a couch, a booth, a stool or counter and do your own thing.
Please note: You should register here, and bring a photo ID that matches your registration name. The building policy is strict on the I.D. part. This also helps us figure out how much food and drink to bring in! Feel free to stop by even if only to say a quick hello, but you might have to give us a last minute call if you forget to RSVP. Also, don't be shy about hitting us up if you have thoughts on future speakers or wiki-related activities.
For further details, please see: Wikipedia:Bay Area WikiSalon, October 2016.
PS: Mark your calendars ahead now for the 3rd Wednesday in November, the 30th (the week after Thanksgiving), at 6 p.m. when our WikiSalon will host a super awesome top secret mystery guest mingling in our midst. We will announce specifics at the upcoming WikiSalon.
See you soon! Pete F, Ben, Stephen, Jacob, and Checkingfax | (Subscribe or Unsubscribe to this talk page notice here)
ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!
Hello, WikiLeon. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.
It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
  • Archive link (also includes intro, announcements, and a lightning talk)
  • Details about Bay Area WikiSalon for December here
The full title of Jim's presentation was: Welcoming and Helping New Editors: A Month at the Wikipedia Teahouse: an overview of the Teahouse and an analysis of over 300 Teahouse conversations during the month of August, 2016
La Luchadora
First of all, I didn't know about the conversation. However, it's just a discussion with two users. Becky Lynch is a gimmick, Alexa Bliss is a gimmick too. Three wrestlers appeared as La Luchadora, something that a lot of wrestlers made in the past like The Calgary Kid, Mr. America, Suicide, Doink the Clown, The Spider Lady, Los Conwuistadores, The Black Scorpion... --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 08:16, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
