I'd be happy to nominate this piece and would like to use a hook such as the below, but the info would have to been added as an inline citation. This would slight change the article as written, but I believe most sources support fact that it was not first-built engine in America, but first ever use in America. (not only in copper mine). We'd better sort out the date first. The engine was delivered in 1753 but not steamed until 1755 according both to http://www.uh.edu/engines/epi1085.htm and the current ref 4 - Woodward 1944, p. 49. About the engine, Woodward p.50 states "This engine was one of the first three steam engines, possibly the earliest, to be erected in North America." --Tagishsimon (talk) 22:40, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

FWIW, one of the key DYK checks is that the reference material exactly backs up the sentence in which it is used as a reference. I'm a bit concerned that "In 1753, it was the site of the first use in America of a steam engine to pump water out of the mine.[4]" is not supported on p.49 of Woodward to which the ref [4] points. My reading was that p.49 burbled on about the building process, etc, and it was not until p.50 that we got any claim from Woodward, and that was the "one of the first three" claim. Happily the Leinhard reference looks very supportive for the "first use" claim. I don't know enough about the history of steam engines in the US to advise you on how to make use of Woodward's "one of the first three" reference. It's better. I still don't think ref 4 supports the assertion made. You might just want to withdraw that reference, or else note its claim - one of the first three. "Different claims are made that it was one of the first three engines in the USA[4]"? Sadly we've missed the DYK deadline. HMS Kingfisher (1770)

There is already a stub article for this ship sloop. I note that you have drafted an article under user:Zeete for this ship, and clearly the two should be combined. Can you merge your relevent information into that shown in the live stub article? I should mention that the slight differences in dimensions quoted are due to the fact that the live article contains the actual (as-built) dimensions, whereas your draft article gives the design dimensions for the Swan class ship sloops. • Many thanks! The article is considerably improved. Note that all wooden ships, by the nature of "give" in the material of construction, finally emerged when measured after launch with slight differences from the designed dimensions, albeit only by a few incres or even fractions of an inch (most of the time, measurements were taken to the nearest eighth of an inch); the Navy Board had the principal deimensions measured for every ship or vessel upon its launch, whether built in a Royal dockyard or by private contractor (in the latter case, the exact dimensions determined the burthen tonnage of the craft, which in turn determined the price paid to the builder, which was always per burthen ton). NJ NRHPs

Thank you for creating Beach Haven Historic District as a nice new NRHP article with multiple photos (nice ones by Jerrye & Roy KLOTZ), and for your creating multiple new other NJ NRHP articles. It is really great that you're using/developing full NRHP references and searching out the photos. There were a bunch of NJ NRHP articles created a while back with less good stuff, which i was afraid was turning off potential new editors in the area. Glad you are expanding the coverage and improving the average quality! Know that you can see the effect you make upon NJ's coverage at wp:NRHPPROGRESSNJ and in the maps at top of wp:NRHPPROGRESS page, at least if you bring a county's percentage covered over a 10% mark. ..it seems to be the only on the whole commons/wikipedia;

• His personal flag is featured at the DeWint House, which was used as his headquarters while he was commander-in-chief. Only photo I have, it was a windy day.

The town of Washington, New York has adopted the flag, see Flag of Washington, New York.

• @Alansohn: That was my first thought, but WP:PLACE states "If more than one place within the same county has the same name, specify the type of local government unit in parentheses before the comma." Jeanne Demessieux on OTD

Thanks for adding Jeanne Demessieux to Wikipedia:Selected anniversaries/November 11. Unfortunately, there are a few problems with the article. First, the introduction is too short, consisting of only a single sentence. Please see MOS:LEAD for what constitutes a good introduction. Secondly, the list of compositions has no references, nor does the discography, so that's going to disqualify the article from inclusion. If you can fix those up, we can feature it. images of statues

Thanks for creation of Equestrian statue of George Washington (Newark). Foto is great, but unsure of copyright laws/storage on Wikimedia Commons with regard to statues. Because of age, might be fine/free-use, but if not, might be at risk of deletion. Works of art can be downloaded as file to Wikipedia directly when used for discussion of that work. Just sayin'. Limekilns or Lime Kilns?

You created the article Moses Craig Limekilns, with "Limekilns" as one word; Thank you for creating this article and for all of your work on these places on the NRHP. Once I saw your new article, I linked to it in Peapack-Gladstone, New Jersey, using the article title. But in this edit, you twice changed the link to Moses Craig Lime Kilns (with "Lime Kilns" as two words), which is a redirect. Should it be "Limekilns" or "Lime Kilns" and shouldn't we be consistent in using one word or two? Alansohn (talk) 14:51, 20 November 2023 (UTC)

@Alansohn: The technical name from the NRHP and the NJRHP uses one word, limekiln. However, the common name is two words, lime kiln, as seen in the Peapack-Gladstone, New Jersey article before your change, as seen in the information signs at the site, and as found in online references. I tried to use the common name, namely Moses Craig Lime Kilns, as much as possible, but kept the technical term for NRHP-specific items. Thanks, Zeete (talk) 16:09, 20 November 2023 (UTC)

WP:COMMONNAME says that we should use "Lime Kilns" (two words) if that's what people commonly use. If we're using "Lime Kilns" in mentions and links in the Peapack-Gladstone, New Jersey article, then why not change the name of the article from "Moses Craig Limekilns" (one word) to "Moses Craig Lime Kilns" (two words) and indicate that the one-word name is also used? There's no requirement that the article title match the wording used by the NRHP. Alansohn (talk) 16:28, 20 November 2023 (UTC)

I'm happy either way, but not both. I would personally lean to "Lime Kilns", which looks much less glaringly wrong that "Limekilns", but I defer to you and your expertise with NHRP sites and naming conventions. I would fully support a rename of the article to use the two-word "Lime Kilns" option and maintain consistency using the two words across the board. Alansohn (talk) 17:38, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
