flakjacket band

reasoning -Flakjacketrock (talk) 05:43, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

why has this been deleted? it is unfair and its the facts about a band for referance for the industry if thats the way you guys judge a input and just delete a referance page without first investigating the facts then count us out .....we will no longer use the wiki referance and anything we do from here about us on will be enforced with copyright laws of australia.....give a a break will you this is so ridiculas

  • Deleting admin's comment. Article was speedy deleted A7, no assertion of significance/importance. Message was left on user's talk page asking if there were reliable sources on the band, but they did not reply to that message. —C.Fred (talk) 05:46, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

It was deleted because questions were raised about its notability. I have no problem with this, but it was deleted before I even had a chance to flesh it out. It was deleted after only a few hours. The article was definitely in an embryonic state. But I think I should at least be given a couple of days to finish it. Thank you for your time and consideration. Respectfully yours Robert Bernstein -Robertbrnstn (talk) 14:03, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Since the article was deleted, Dolf has since become notible. Dr. Patrick Chaplin was the first person ever to earn a PHD in darts and is the world leader in dart history. It was awarded by Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge – the title of his dissertation being: ‘DARTS IN ENGLAND 1900-1939 – A SOCIAL HISTORY’. He noted Dolf in his newsletter http://www.patrickchaplin.com/News%20Letters/Issue%2013%20April%202011/Dr.%20Darts%20Newsletter%20-%20Issue%2013%20DKONLINE.pdf on page 13. The references for Cricket (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cricket_(darts)) and Dartball (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dartball) appear don't appear to be as strong as this reference yet are considered notable. Cross referencing the notability guide lines, this reference to Dolf is meets the following:

The source is Reliable Source is a Secondary Source The source is independent of the subject It was mentioned by a reputable media/expert source

Please indicate the specific reasons to why you consider Dolf as not notable.

  • The article obviously wasn't encyclopedic, or even factual. This is a textbook example of a page created by someone about himself or his friend, and such pages get routinely deleted under the speedy deletion criteria for lacking any serious claim of notability, if for no other reason. - Mike Rosoft (talk) 07:29, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

The article was not intended to be a advertising text. The association described in this article is a well reputed entity that e.g. takes care that people can use cordless telephones in most countries of the wordl. The association therefore negotiates with regulators, govenrment worldwide for frequency allocation. This is the main goal of the association which is a non-profit organization. I am happy to edit the article since it was my first one, but I belive thath the topic is worth to exist at Wikipedia. -RolSchmidt (talk) 16:09, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

Ron Allen (Canadian Musician)

Dear Deletion attendant. As a research journalist/educator of information regarding the lives of artists whom will likely influence humanities future notably through innovative achievements in the arts, primarily music related as I am an Ethnomusicology Professor and Neuro-Sonic researcher at an advanced teaching hospital. I have interviewed the artist in question thus obtaining new accurate information regarding the developments within various fields by this unusual artist. The original article, was a result of a few contributors including, it seems, a National newspaper, fans, and the management of the artists itself. I also noticed references from the Canadian Encyclopedia of Music, and my own publications. Until deletion, the article was used as initial reference by a few universities and collages, hundreds and more students. Although this artist has only sold 2 million CD's or so, the impact his work has literally saved hundreds of lives. Very rare indeed. The original article was a awkward scattering of verifiable facts that I myself verified easily. It should not have been deleted on that basis. Poorly written , maybe.

My intention now, is to revise and update it to bring the information in line with his recent contributions that go far beyond "musician:, a term that should be replaced by a more deserving title. We have a few other articles to contribute after this sadly deleted article is upgraded. I hope this request is simple and clear. look forward to your kind answer. NAMASTE Dr. Noor Yonidev -Yonidev (talk) 22:35, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

Though it was deleted as an expired PROD this was a completely unsourced biography of a living person so I don't think it's wise to restore this to mainspace. I might be willing to incubate it but the better option would be to write a new sourced article. --Ron Ritzman (talk) 03:37, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

The only text in the deleted article was Nicolai Boilesen (born 16 February 1992) is a Danish professional footballer, who currently plays for Ajax in the Dutch Eredivisie.. I think the best thing to do is to write a new article with reliable sources. --Ron Ritzman (talk) 03:53, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
What about the first version of the article (from November 2008 when he was playing in Brøndby IF), does that one have more information (I'm mainly thinking infobox)? Poulsen (talk) 05:08, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

The Deco Affair

The Deco Afair is renowned as being the place where new designers can meet the otherwise inaccessible elite of the industry. As as example last year 'Just Maude' a local clothing designer met the owner of Gucci and have since made her personally a dress, demonstrating that the deco affair really is somewhere where the impossible becomes possible! -109.148.68.46 (talk) 08:59, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

Done – as a contested proposed deletion, the article has been restored upon request. I will notify user WikiDan61 (talk), who proposed it, in case they wishes to nominate it at Articles for deletion. It is copied from the UMW student newspaper, and so would need a formal copyright release, but in any case in its present form it is quite unsuitable: it is not an encyclopedia article, it is a chatty piece from a student newspaper about a 20-year-old Afghan student whose "dream has been realized" by coming to the US, how well she is doing, her hopes etc. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a notice-board for reprinting this kind of material. Jason Impey

he is a British horror film director who has some major DVD releases coming out this year with major interest from horror film studios and distributors, he has a big fan base who wants to learn more about this individual, there is quite a bit of information on him on IMDB and as Wikipedia is a very good information site I think it is appropriate to have information on this director and his films as this site as many other directors of his kind on here and their films, some even smaller and who have done less films than Jason Impey. I have a certain amount of information on this director and the films his made that have caused quite a stir in the film industry if more information is required, he is referred to the English Andreas Schnaas, there are quite a few people I am aware of that are wondering why Mr. Impey is not on Wikipedia when quite a few people he has worked with are like Eleanor James, Emily Booth, Eileen Daly, GoreZone Magazine to name but a few. -Horrorfilmlover (talk) 10:17, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

There are many other websites that have reviews good and bad of some of his many features such as the one below: http://www.fatally-yours.com/horror-reviews/tortured-aka-sex-slave-2008/ Thank you for your time. Still  Not done. IMDB is user-editable, and is not typically a 3rd party reliable source. Where's the Cannes reference showing him to be a "huge hit"? How comes lots of people who have been in his films are on this site but not the man who made them himself he is more important to the films than the cast? It is not fan information but information about a British filmmaker who has made over 14 feature films all shot in England with independent fiance which is a first, has not been done before, he is trying to bring exploitation filmmaking into the UK film scene to a wider audience and has interesting facts about how his films have been made and how they have caused outrage. Chicago, IL district maps

I'd like to ask the restoration of the following maps of Chicago, IL districts as they've been erroneously deleted with no replacement in Commons. Some files' original name might've had a lowercase extension (as it's the case with CA07 for instance), but I don't know which.

-CoolKoon (talk) 12:22, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

Only for the last one, CA50, was "image exists on Commons" the deletion reason - all the rest were WP:CSD#F4, lack of licensing information, which probably applies to CA50, too. If they are restored, can you provide appropriate licensing information? - otherwise they will just be deleted again. JohnCD (talk) 12:54, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
Well, since the remaining images (which were not deleted) are tagged as "PD-ineligible", I'd say that these could be tagged the same way as well. CoolKoon (talk) 13:03, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

I (Granddaughter) can identify awards received by Bob Gittens to confirm notability as a broadcaster in Trinidad and Tobago as I visited his family home throughout March 2011. Also willing to contribute images and updates. Original reason for deletion was: "18:37, 8 September 2010 BigDom (talk | contribs) deleted "Bob Gittens" ‎ (Expired PROD, concern was: While I can find minor mentions confirming that Gittens was an announcer in the 1950s, I cannot find reliable sources showing his notability." -27.32.50.190 (talk) 14:24, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

Done - as a contested proposed deletion, the article has been restored on request. As it was unsourced and all mentions seem to be in the context of the radio station, I've redirected it for now to Radio Trinidad. Before updating, please review our guideline on notability and also this for family members.--Tikiwont (talk) 10:50, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

Hail of Bullets

This band is notable and the article shouldn't have been deleted- I have no idea why it was deleted but they have released three albums on a notable label, Metal Blade Records (verify in http://www.last.fm/music/Hail+of+Bullets/+albums , and thus comply with the notability standards of Wikipedia in WP:BAND. If this information wasn't included in the article it should be added. -Thisistimothy (talk) 18:06, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

  • the sum total of the deleted content was Hail of Bullets is a Death Metal band from the Netherlands. The band is fronted by vocalist Martin van Drunen of Asphyx and was forned in 2006. Their lyrical content deal with World War 2. To date, they have released 2 albums (...Of Frost and War and On Divine Winds). I suggest you just go ahead and write a new page. Gammadyne Mailer

This is a well written, informative, accurate, and unbiased article about a popular program. There is no conceivable reason to delete it. -Grozo (talk) 18:28, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

Userfied - the page has been restored to the userspace at User:Grozo/Gammadyne Mailer.. It did not assert notability to the deleting admin, User:DragonflySixtyseven, and in user space you can maybe improve it further, to avoid that it gets proposed for deletion or sent to WP:AFD-. -Tikiwont (talk) 20:32, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

This is a page that is a copy of a talk page of a page I have created. The content is not abusive and I have kept it in a userfied version. --Porchcrop (talk|contributions) 07:55, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

Not done Well you didn't mention that your page and its talk page was deleted per Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Antiquette. As was the draft per Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Porchcrop/Antiquette with it. Nor did you explain which eventual benefit there might come from keeping the talk page copy around. Obviously, you're left with the usual options, convince the deleting admin, DRV or simply move on.--Tikiwont (talk) 20:16, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

Angie Mason

This artist is notable having exhibits internationally in galleries and museums. She has Tens of thousands of links on google which claimed she only had 787 hits but simply isn't true. If you google you will see the thousands of links to this artist. The article that was deleted also said it broke copyrights but as the artist Angie Mason I had added that link we can simply remove that link and reinstate the article if it is some how offensive. It has been a part of wikipedia for years I would hate to see it deleted after years of having students write reports for their projects for their art classes which utilized this article. -173.63.148.212 (talk) 04:22, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

  •  Not done Wikipedia is a free content project - which means we don't use text belonging to other people in our artices. There was a deletion discussion over 5 years ago but I'd suggest you simply rewrite the article in your own words citing any sources you have. We don't ever undelete copyvios unless the text in question has been released on a free license. Spartaz Humbug! 17:34, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

Quality_factor_(video_compression)

The quality factor calculation, also called the Compression Quality factor is used in tools such as GSpot to calculate the quality factor of encoded video. The formula given is accurate and is currently in use, albeit not in a widespread manner. Nonetheless the information is interesting to have to see how the calculation is done. Also look at the documentation regarding CQ in the mencoder documentation, section 7.1. Making a high quality MPEG-4 ("DivX") rip of a DVD movie. -Ccodere (talk) 01:49, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

List of convicted Jewish criminals

per "List of convicted Australian criminals" and "List of Jewish Nobel laureates" -Bob19842 (talk) 17:12, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

Not done and will not be done one names does not a list make and this seems an unsuitable subject for a list too... Spartaz Humbug! 17:30, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

I had just started adding names when it was deleted. Can you explain why list articles favorable to Jews are suitable while list articles unfavorable to Jews are unsuitable? Bob19842 (talk) 17:34, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

It isn't a question of un/favorability, it is an issue of whether such a categorization of people by ethnic/religious background and criminal activity is notable or important enough for a Wikipedia entry. For the record, I was against the "Jewish Nobel laureates" list as well, as there's really nothing particularly notable about being a Jew and being a Nobel prize winner, but those sorts of articles see quite a bit of a herd mentality to keep them protected. Being Jewish and being a criminal isn't a noteworthy intersection of information either, but just because the laureate article was kept, that isn't a valid criteria to keel the criminal article. "Two wrongs don't make a right", and all. Tarc (talk) 18:03, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
(e/c)  Not done Actually, I think List of convicted Australian criminals pretty clearly should be deleted and may prod or take that to AfD. There are so many reasons why any list of ethnicity criminals is inappropriate that even where to begin is difficult: Attack page, indiscriminate intersection, unbounded list... I'm not sure that List of Jewish Nobel laureates shouldn't be deleted s well but the analogy to it is false. For one, that is a sharply finite list and requires no judgment calls to know what to include. Your idea of balancing one against the other, besides appearing to be an other stuff exists fallacy, makes me think you may have an agenda and I'll leave it at that. In any event, this page is only for undeletion of pages deleted uncontroversially, such as under CSD g6 as housekeeping or articles that were prodded. We do not undelete pages that are deleted as this one was as an attack page or as a duplicate topic. That is the province of deletion review.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 18:19, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
You make an excellent point that hadn't occurred to me. Forgetting other possible issues, the list of Nobel laureates is verifiable and definable. There is no verifiable way to define where the boundaries are of any "list of convicted [ethnic group] criminals". ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 18:46, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
Exactly. Where do we start to define who to place on such a list as this one. Do we include every scientist, actor, engineer, and musical artist who ever got a suspended sentence when they were 19 for shoplifting, right next to Meyer Lansky? Is it only for major crimes (whatever that means) for people who have Wikipedia articles, and are verifiably Jewish, and lived during the twentieth century? To even begin is to immediately get bogged down in how indiscriminate and unbound it is on its face. Anyway, I'm going to go create List of Zoroastrian jaywalkers of the nineteenth century.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 19:19, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
Yes, wikipedia is crying out for such an article to fill that knowledge gap. It occurs to me that this is similar to debates about categorizing people as "Jewish", "Catholic", etc., in the leads of articles. "Jewish comedian", for example. Certainly Myron Cohen qualifies, because the focus of his act was ethnic Jewish jokes. Alan King often referred to his Jewish background, although it wasn't necessarily the major part of his act. Jerry Seinfeld is ethnically as Jewish as any of them, but he's not a "Jewish comedian" as such. So these lists can get pretty slippery. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 19:44, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

Who's right?

BioBlu 27 alloy

The only factual information that results from a internet search about this cobalt alloy is from the alloy's manufacturer. I'm curious about what was on this page before it was deleted, since cobalt is considered to cause cardiomyopathy, contact dermatitis, and is a carcinogen, while the manufacturer claims that the alloy is hypoallergenic and surgical-grade. -32.97.110.53 (talk) 23:15, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

Done. I restored this article automatically as a contested PROD, but noticed that it was written in a very promotional and unencyclopedic style, more like a Myspace page than an encyclopedia article, so I checked and found that it was copied from here, and so is liable to speedy deletion as a copyright violation. So I have userfied it for you - moved it into a user-subpage at User:Dragquennom/Ernie Halter where you can work on it. We should not really be hosting copyright material even in user space, so please make it your first priority to rewrite the text in a much more factual style. Court piece

This game is among the most popular card games in India and Pakistan and definitely needs an article. Variants are currently played in Iran, Suriname and the Netherlands, see Hokm. I will create a new article discussing all these variants together, but I think the history of this article should be available under the redirect as it should never have been deleted in the first place. I would have no objection to notifying the editors involved and sending the article to DRV a second time. -Paul McDonald (talk) 13:43, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
