Aion (formerly called GAC New Energy) is a Chinese electric vehicle marque of Guangzhou Automobile Corporation introduced in 2018 as a sub-brand under 2020 as a marque.

History

Aion was introduced as an electric vehicle sub-brand under GAC New Energy in 2018 and was shown to the public in November with the reveal of the Aion S at Auto Guangzhou.[1] In November 2020, two years after the introduction of the Aion brand, it was announced that Aion would become a marque under GAC Group, replacing GAC New Energy.[2]

Upcoming models

After the S, GAC announced 12 new models were planned to launch, which eventually included the LX, V, and Y.[6]

Hycan

In May 2019, GAC and NIO announced they would form a joint venture electric vehicle brand called Hycan.

Hycan later revealed an unnamed electric SUV concept which was essentially an Aion LX with a different front, rear, and wheels.[7]
