Revision as of 18:50, 25 September 2007
The Indian National Football League (NFL) was a football league system in India run by the All India Football Federation.
The NFL had 3 divisions - the Premier Division (created in the 1996/1997 season), the Second Division (created in the 1997/1998 season), and the newly created Third Division (created in the 2006/2007 season). Each year, two teams were relegated and replaced by promoted teams.
The 2006/2007 season will be the last year for the ONGC National Football League. The inaugaral Pro League will start in September of 2007 to replace the NFL. The 2007/2008 season will be the first for the Pro League. The new Pro League will be called the I League, following other Asian nation in the naming of their football leagues such as the J League in Japan, the K League in Korea, and the A League in Australia.
