"BedRock"
Song

"BedRock" is the second single by hip-hop group Young Money Entertainment from their debut collaboration album We Are Young Money. It is performed by Young Money artists Lil Wayne, Gudda Gudda, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Tyga, Jae Millz, and features R&B singer Lloyd. It was released as a CD in the United Kingdom on March 22, 2010. [2]

Background

Travis Porter originally used the beat "Adidas" for their mixtape " I'm a Differenter 2"[citation needed]

After being leaked on September 21, 2009,[3] it was finally released on November 14, 2009.[citation needed] It was originally titled "Girl You Know"[4] and the chorus was sung by Omarion and Lil Wayne's verse was different, but due to Omarion's departure from Young Money, he was replaced by Lloyd.[citation needed]

Drake interpolates "Are You That Somebody" by Aaliyah in his verse, "Girl, I gotta watch my back, cuz I'm not just anybody." He also references the 1963 movie It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World in his line, "I'm At The W, But I Can't Meet You In The Lobby." Lil Wayne's verse made a reference to the song "Bad" by Michael Jackson in the line, "She Michael Jackson bad". The song was released on iTunes on November 24 and the music video on December 7.[citation needed]. There is also a reference to the 2006 film Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby in the line, "I'm racing for your love, shake and bake, Ricky Bobby."

There is also a female remix version by Rasheeda featuring Kandi Burruss, Diamond (rapper), Lola Monroe and Toya Carter.

Music video

"BedRock"'s music video, directed by Dayo and Lil Wayne,[5] was released on December 7, 2009 and debuted on BET's 106 & Park.[citation needed] The video was also featured on MTV Jams that same day.[citation needed] Cameo appearances are made by ZC, Nixo, Birdman, Lil Chuckee, Short Dawg, Shanell, J. R. Smith of the Denver Nuggets, Mack Maine, and Jay Rock.[citation needed] It features the members of Young Money in an American house with Lloyd who sings the chorus. They are later seen outside near the house's swimming pool.
