This article's factual accuracy may be compromised due to out-of-date information. (January 2019) |
The following list provides information relating to the minimum wages (gross) of countries in Europe.[1][2]
The calculations are based on the assumption of a 40-hour working week and a 52-week year, with the exceptions of France (35 hours),[3] San Marino (37.5 hours),[4] Belgium (38 hours),[5] United Kingdom (38.1 hours),[3] Ireland (39 hours),[3] Monaco (39 hours),[6] and Germany (39.1 hours).[3] Most of minimum wages are fixed at a monthly rate, but there are countries where minimum wage is fixed at an hourly rate or weekly rate.
Minimum wages by country
Net income
The maps below show monthly adult minimum (after tax, social charges & deductions) income; some countries have a lower rate for under-25-year-olds.
Purple | above €1,000 |
Light blue | €500 to €1,000 |
Yellow | €250 to €499 |
Red | below €250 |
Countries marked on the map in dark red do not have a minimum wage.
Gross income
The maps below show monthly (before tax, social charges & deductions) minimum adult income; some countries have a lower rate for under-25-year-olds.
Purple | above €1,500 |
Light blue | €700 to €1,500 |
Yellow | €400 to €699 |
Red | below €400 |
