Some of the many recurring and regular characters. From left: Ralph Wiggum (on shoulders), Chief Wiggum, Ms Krabappel, Principal Skinner, Scratchy the cat (foreground), Agnes Skinner, Krusty the Clown, Apu and children, Moe, Itchy the mouse (foreground), Otto, Grandpa Simpson, Homer Simpson, Santa's Little Helper (dog), Snowball (cat), Marge Simpson, Maggie (baby), Lisa Simpson, Ned Flanders, Bart Simpson, Todd Flanders, Selma Bouvier, Hans Moleman (background), Patty Bouvier, Rod Flanders, Waylon Smithers, Montgomery Burns, Jimbo Jones, Milhouse Van Houten, Groundskeeper Willie, and Martin.

The following is a list of characters featured in the American animated television series The Simpsons.

Characters are only listed once, normally under the first applicable subsection in the list; very minor characters are listed with a more regular character they are associated with. Voice actors, if applicable, are listed in parentheses after the character's name, followed by the characters first appearance in the show. Though characters from Halloween episodes are included, these episodes do not form part of the show's continuity; characters only featured in one of these episodes do not inhabit the Springfield of the other shows. Subsections are ordered by size and ongoing relevance to the show.

For the purposes of this list, cells have been shaded in alternating rows for ease of navigation. However, cells shaded in light blue denote deceased characters and characters and cells shaded in pink denote retired characters.
