Template:Big Brother housemates Pinoy Big Brother: Double Up is the third regular season of Pinoy Big Brother, which began on October 4, 2009 on ABS-CBN. Toni Gonzaga, Mariel Rodriguez, and Bianca Gonzalez reprise their hosting duties this season.[1][2]

There were two sets of auditions for this season. The first set of auditions were held in late 2007 in several key cities in the Philippines, as well as the cities of Madrid, Milan, and Dubai. Those auditions also produced the housemates for Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition Plus. The second set of auditions for this season, as well as for the third Teen Edition, were held in several key cities in the Philippines and the cities of Tokyo and San Francisco. This brought the number of auditioners to 57,824. From those two sets of auditions, it was reported that fifty people were chosen for shortlist. A total of twenty-six housemates have entered the House, fourteen on Day 1 and ten on Day 7. Two more housemates entered on Day 43.

The winner of the new season would receive an LCD TV set, an Asian tour package, a business package, a house and lot, and PHP 1 million in cash. The winner would also donate another PHP 1 million to a charity of their choice, making Double Up the first non-celebrity season to do so.

This season also marks the return of Pinoy Big Brother UpLate, after being replaced by Pinoy Big Brother Über in the second Celebrity Edition and Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition Plus. Mariel would continue to host Über while Bianca would take the helm for UpLate. Episodes from the previous week are also recapped through a weekend program on Studio 23 entitled Pinoy Big Brother: Primetime Weekends on 23 and delayed, but unedited late morning/early afternoon feed through Pinoy Big Brother: Raw on Studio 23.

Overview

House theme

House A, with the swimming pool, is located on the right side while House B is on the left side.

With the Double-up twist of having two houses, the houses have a European motif for interiors with bright colors as inspired by architectural designs of Antoni Gaudí for House A and paintings of Dutch post-Impressionist painter Vincent Van Gogh for House B. The houses appear to be smaller than before, with each house having the same set of ammenities with different wall paintings. House A has predominantly blue and green wall paintings. House B has predominantly red and yellow wall paintings. Furthermore, House A's garden inherits the infinity pool previously seen in Teen Edition: Plus and the second season of Pinoy Dream Academy; House B only has a simple terrace area with a jacuzzi at one side.

Double Up Twists

This season has been dubbed Double Up for several reasons.

  • Two Houses - unlike previous seasons, the house has been divided into two distinct areas with similar rooms and a shared confession room, but both are designed differently - with House A inspired by the architectural design of Antoni Gaudí, and House B featuring reproductions of Vincent van Gogh's paintings.
  • Double Up Housemates - two sets of identical twins were included in the roster of housemates - with each member of the twins living in both parts of the house, switching between the two areas when instructed. However, the rest of the housemates do not know about the twins, or the fact that there are two houses. The twins will also receive an immunity from nomination for eviction during the first nomination night if they succeed in keeping this a secret, but if they do reveal it they will be forcibly evicted.
  • House Swaps - Housemates were made to swap houses and group members as instructed by Big Brother.
  • Voting System - For the seventh eviction, the show introduced the vote to evict system, where the viewers are given the chance to vote for the housemates they want to evict. For the eighth eviction onwards, the show brought back the vote-to-save system and retained the vote-to-evict system.
  • Head of Household - When the housemates were brought together in one house, the Head of Household was introduced. See Head of Household and Hand Grenade sections for further details.
  • Hand Grenade - Like the Head of Household twist, the Hand Grenade twist was implemented after the housemates began living in one house. The hand grenade goes to the ultimate loser in the HOH competition. See Head of Household and Hand Grenade sections for further details.
  • 100-Second Encounter - Each week, a housemate will be chosen by Big Brother to have a 100-second encounter with a loved one.

There were a total of twenty-six housemates - twenty official housemates, four sub-official housemates, and two replacement housemates, who entered the Houses: the first set of 14 housemates entered on Day 1 (October 4, 2009), while a second set of 10 were introduced on Day 7 (October 10, 2009). A third batch of two housemates entered the house on Day 43 (November 15, 2009). They are divided below by the batch from which they were introduced and House in which they live. The twins are marked with different colors. A table is included to show the housemates shifted houses in the duration of the show.

On Day 63, Big Brother announced that there no longer would be two houses and all housemates were to live in House A. Only ten housemates entered House A on that day as the remaining randomly-chosen housemates were told to spend the night in House B to await their fate the next day from the then recently-closed voting.

First batch

The following housemates entered the Houses on Day 1 (October 4, 2009) in the order shown. They appeared and disappeared from stage with the use of several magic tricks, with a Magic-themed kick-off. Filipino-American artist Amber Davis sang the theme song, with ex-housemates Jason Gainza, Cassandra Ponti and Franzen Fajardo from Season 1, Nina Jose from Teen Edition 1, and Wendy Valdez and Gee-Ann Abrahan from Season 2.

She left the Philippines when she was in high school to live with her mom in Japan. There she discovered something about her mom which prompted her to break away and live on her own. He is a native of Catbalogan, Samar but migrated to the States when he was 12 years old with his mom and dad, who is a US Navy serviceman. He spoke little English when he moved abroad and was ridiculed. Tom loves to draw and is interested in pursuing a career in digital animation. On Day 41, Tom was given a forced eviction because of his outburst in the third game of the Pinoy Big Battle which led to him punching the Activity Area's wall. He left the house the next day with ex-housemate Princess, who re-entered the house to accompany him to the outside world as most of Tom's relatives are living outside Metro Manila.

Delio

Delio Dimaculangan (b. January 16, 1983) is a 26-year-old cook from Batangas. He had to work at a young age and was not able to finish his studies. Jason

Jason Veron Marasigan Francisco (b. October 11, 1987) is 22-year-old thug from Oriental Mindoro. Infamous in his hometown for starting brawls and other shenanigans, he admits that he is not one to back out of a fight. Idolizing actor Robin Padilla, Jason says he always gets what he wants.

Melisa

Melisa Cantiveros, or sometimes Melai, (b. April 6, 1988) is a 21-year-old student, part-time instructor, and funny lady from General Santos City. Nicknamed Inday Kengkay, Melisa looks at the positive side of things despite people teasing her about her looks. The aspiring English practice teacher hopes she can impart happiness to other people wherever she goes.

Yuri Okawa (b. October 17, 1983) is a 25-year-old nursing student from Japan. Yuri can speak five languages – Spanish, Portuguese, English, Tagalog and Japanese which she has learned living in different parts of the world. Her goal is to help support her family working as a waitress in Japan while on leave from her nursing studies. She was evicted on Day 64, with the vote-to-evict twist.

Carol

Carolyn "Carol" Lim Batay (b. May 18, 1987) is a 22-year-old pharmacist and teacher from Tondo, Manila. She grew up in a traditional Chinese household. She admits that this has hindered her from exploring the world and expressed hope that her stint inside the Big Brother house will change her perspective on things. A Pharmacy graduate and an industrial pharmacy instructor at UP Manila, she passed the PRC Pharmacist Board Exam in June 2008[4] and never had a boyfriend. She was evicted on Day 77.

Mariel

Marielle Sorino (b. November 29, 1988) is a 21-year-old mother from Davao. She confessed to having a rebellious past, drinking and partying because of issues with her parents, especially her mom. A single mom, Marielle has moved away from her parents and is trying her best to raise her son on her own.

Yhel gets her inspiration to go on with life from her two children but admits it’s very hard to raise them since she hasn’t even finished high school. Due to her frequent violations on rules against discussing nominations, Yhel was given a forced eviction on Day 25 and left the house the following day.

Double-up Housemates

To complete the first batch of housemates, Big Brother introduced two sets of twins as "double-up" housemates. He also reveals to the pairs that he has two houses. The twins were assigned the first task of the season, a switch of identities and houses at his signal, anytime within the week. If they succeed with their secret task, they'll be considered as official housemates, but should any of them be discovered or the secret of the two houses revealed to the other housemates, both pairs of twins will be forcibly evicted from the house.

Toffi & Kenny

Oliver Steffan "Toffi" and Oliver Kenneth "Kenny" Santos (b. September 21, 1989) are 20-year-old basketball players from Rizal. Both are said to share in everything, including clothes and their status as college varsity basketball players. They are said to be so identical that at their young age, they have fooled their mother about their identities. A major difference to the two is that Kenny is almost two inches shorter than Toffi. However, the girls at House B were able to distinguish the two, dubbing Kenny as "Toffi-fi". They were forcibly evicted on Day 5.

JP & JM

John Paul "JP" and John Michael "JM" Lagumbay (b. April 22, 1980) are 29-year-old family men from Quezon City. JP is a flight attendant, while JM is an IT specialist; both come from a political family. Having lost a sibling, JP straightened out as a father and a husband. JM became more charismatic and evangelized with kids. A major difference of this pair is that JM has a dimple in his right cheek, while JP has no dimples. JP left the show on Day 3 due to work-related concerns, leaving JM to compete as a single housemate, but with the continued onus of assuming his brother's identity in the other House. JM was forcibly evicted on Day 5.

Second batch

The second batch of Housemates entered the Big Brother House on Day 7 (October 10, 2009), during another special show called "The Spooktacular Reveal," utilizing a haunted house theme.[5] Housemates were escorted by hosts Bianca and Mariel to the front door of the house. While the 10 housemates in the two houses danced to the tune of Thriller, outside the house, present were Big Winners and ex-housemates Nene Tamayo from Season 1, John Prats from Celebrity Edition 1, Beatriz Saw and Mickey Perz from Season 2, Robi Domingo from Teen Edition Plus, and Kenny and Toffi Santos and JM Lagumbay.

Cathy

Catherine "Cathy" Remperas (b. October 8, 1987) is a 22-year-old nurse from Bohol. Being left alone by their parents, Cathy, being the youngest, was raised by her older siblings. As such, she was the only one to finish her college education. She recently passed the nursing board exam.

Tibo

Steve "Tibo" Jumalon (b. December 31, 1975) is a 33-year-old father of three from Cagayan de Oro. He comes from a family of five siblings with four different fathers to one mother. When he was younger, he and his family went to Manila to escape from a syndicate. Growing up as a strong and determined individual, he later on became a target shooting champion.

Hermes

Hermes Eugene Bautista (b. February 7, 1986) is a 23-year-old nursing graduate. He is a US-born Filipino who grew up in Pampanga. He felt saddened and disappointed when there finally came a point when he had to leave for San Diego, California. Patria

Riza Mae Patria (b. September 23, 1986), known in the show under her surname, is a 23-year-old medical representative and funny girl from Lazi, Siquijor. She finished her college studies in Foundation University in Dumaguete City. She has always joined competitions ranging from beauty pageants to simple pizza-eating contests. Kath

Kathleen Lopeña-Ortega (b. May 21, 1985) is a 24-year-old print model from Spain. She is a Filipina who was born and raised in Spain. She is married and has one kid. She is also intensely jealous because her husband, Jimson, had an affair after he went back home to the Philippines.

Jimson

Jimson "Jim" Ortega (b. November 11, 1983) is a 25-year-old house husband from Spain. A man coming from a well-off family, he went to Spain to try his luck and met Kath in a case of love at first sight. They eventually got married and had one kid. Jimson took the job of a stay-at-home father (or the Filipino English term houseband) as he could not find work in Spain. His affair nearly led to him being separated from Kath. He was evicted on Day 21.

Rob

Robert "Rob" Stumvoll (b. June 25, 1985) is a 24-year-old Filipino-Austrian soldier who was born and raised in Austria, albeit being fluent in Tagalog. With his good looks, it is to no surprise that women flock to him. But with two heartbreaks, he has never again had a serious relationship. He later entered the military to discipline himself. He was evicted on Day 56.

Patrick

Patrick Villanueva (b. September 14, 1977) is a 32-year old banker from Baguio. He pursued his studies in the City of Pines and met the woman he would eventually marry and start a family with. He was tempted to have extra-marital affairs, which almost ruined his marriage.

Rica

Rica Paras (born Richard Paras; November 8, 1982) is a 27-year old IT consultant from Sta. Barbara, Iloilo. Being a transexual, she has experienced discrimination numerous times. Although her father does not accept her chosen lifestyle, Rica is proud of her own sexuality. She graduated from Philippine Science High School - Western Visayas Campus and Ateneo de Manila University.

Replacement Housemates

On Day 41 (November 13, 2009), right after Big Brother announced Tom's forced eviction to the housemates, primetime edition host Toni Gonzaga revealed that new housemate(s) - confirmed during the following night's broadcast as a guy and a girl - would enter the house. The new housemates entered on Day 43 (November 15, 2009). Both are fashion models.

She is seen in the fashion scene since age 10, appearing in several TV commercials.

Rocky

Alvin Kirby "Rocky" Salumbides (b. August 30, 1980) is a 29-year-old model from Cavite. Growing up in a single-parent household at the barracks of the Villamor Airbase, money had always been tight. His family's sole breadwinner, Rocky took up odd jobs such as a balut vendor and construction worker in addition to his various modelling stints. He is currently in a relationship with actress Eula Valdez. He made a voluntary exit in the early hours of Day 67.

Chronology of notable events

Below is a chronology of events, not including nomination and eviction nights. This section also lists voluntary and temporary exits, entrances of houseguests, visitors, new housemates, and other events that affected the housemates' lives inside the House. This case, October 4, 2009 is considered Day 1. During week 5, events for the swap are indicated in the Big Brother Swap section, including updates on Cathy in Big Brother Finland. As an added note, Group A housemates refer to housemates originally from House A while Group B housemates refer to housemates from House B. On Day 50, the females of each group switched Houses. Group A's males and Group B's females were thus be called "Neo-Group A," while Group A's females and Group B's males were to be known as "Neo-Group B."

Week 1

  • Day 1: Fourteen housemates entered the houses. Princess, Tom, Delio, Paul Jake and Jason entered House A while Melisa, Yuri, Carol, Mariel and Yhel entered House B. The double-up housemates were informed of tasks they were supposed to achieve. Their housemates must not discover that they have twins. JM and Toffi were tasked to go to House B while JP and Kenny went to House A. The first switch between the twins occurred minutes before midnight, but suspicions of the existence of twins in House B were already abound, briefly imperiling the twins' tenure in the show.
  • Day 2: Big Brother gave the double-up housemates another chance for their task, and this time, they had to make sure that House A won't discover their secret. The weekly task of introduction of the housemates in the two Houses began. Several housemates also donated some of their clothes for the victims of calamities caused by typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng. Big Brother informed JP that his company denied his application for leave (so he would compete in the show) and JP was told that he would lose his job if he would not report by 8:00 am the next day. JP opted for a voluntary exit so he would freely show up at work.
  • Day 3: With everyone else in both Houses unaware, JP left House A at 2:38am on Day 3, October 6, 2009. JM was informed of his twin brother's voluntary exit around 30 minutes later. Because of Big Brother's concern for the Lagumbay twins, he decided that JM would remain inside the house and still continue their task. He must still continue the task and assume as JP whenever he is in House A.
  • Day 4: Big Brother hardens the twins' tasks by making them stay in one house without the other housemates (except JM) knowing. However, Melisa (one of the more inquisitive housemates) and Mariel caught one of the Santos twins in the shower room, which made them fail their task. Big Brother made the twins and JM reveal themselves to House B and were given one last chance with their task in House A, but declared its Secret Bedroom, the anteroom to the confession room, and the shower room off-limits as hiding places.
  • Day 5: Princess caught one of the Santos twins in the toilet. This led to the eviction of the twins and JM.
  • Day 6: Minutes after midnight, Tom and Melisa were each told of the existence of a second House. They were told to pack up and move to the other House (i.e. Tom would transfer to House B, Melisa to House A). After the switch and the announcement of the first weekly task's results, Big Brother finally confirmed to all housemates the existence of another House.
  • Day 7: Some housemates committed various violations. The original housemates of House A got food supplies outside the prescribed time and were punished by wearing boots on their hands. Princess, Jason, and Delio were asked to wear headsets for not wearing the lapel microphones while Delio was further punished by wearing a ring of guavas for his violation on taking baths. At House B, Carol and Mariel were asked to wear headsets for violating rules on lapel microphones. The second batch of housemates entered the Houses. While Johan, Cathy, Tibo, Hermes, and Patria entered seemingly without incident, Kath, Jimson, Rob, Patrick, and Rica were given new tasks that would give them budgets for both Houses. Kath, Jimson, and Patrick would enter one House with Kath and Patrick posing as husband and wife, with Jimson watching to see their task being accomplished without a hitch. Rob and Rica were told to enter the other House posing as lovers.

Week 2

  • Day 8: For the upcoming week, Big Brother announced that Group A will be the morning shift (awake during the day) while Group B will be the night shift (rest all day and be active at night), as a fake weekly task designed to test the double-up couples. Maja Salvador entered the confession room for five minutes as a surprise houseguest for Jason's birthday.
  • Day 9: Rob and Rica wanted to establish their fake relationship by confiding to their housemates their doubt for each other and not talk to each other. The two are ordered to wear a shower cap together because they violated a rule which states that only one housemate can shower at any time. Jason's concern for the two later prompts Big Brother to order him to tell the "couple" that the shower cap can be removed. Big Brother instructed Rob to propose to Rica the next day without her prior knowledge. In House B, it was Kath and Patrick's "anniversary" and the housemates planned on activities for their special day: breakfast in bed and dinner for two. Jimson could take the task no longer, and Jimson and Kath revealed the truth to their housemates, hence, the failure of their task.
  • Day 10: Patrick offered to do a sacrifice in exchange for half the weekly budget of House B. He was instructed to stand on a push cart for twelve hours, without telling anyone what the sacrifice is for. meanwhile in House A, Rob, with his housemates' help, "proposed" to Rica.
  • Day 11: In House A, the housemates held a talent show. Big Brother showed a series of messages from Rob and Rica's family and friends about their "engagement", to which Rob felt uncomfortable with. In House B, for losing in their game, the red team, composed of Carol, Hermes, Mariel, Patria and Patrick had to wear noseplugs until an appointed time because the other team was rewarded with durian. The housemates had a sharing on life-changing mistakes they wished they didn't make.
  • Day 12: Big Brother ended Rob and Rica's secret task, which he declared a success.
  • Day 13: The housemates had their first nominations, the results of which were announced the next night. Patrick was assigned to take charge of the 50% budget Group B got as a result of his sacrifice. With the other girls meddling on Patrick's grocery choices, Tom berated them for Patrick was the reason of their house having a weekly budget despite of the weekly task loss. Yhel and Mariel were reprimanded for talking under the bedsheets. Group B planned for Yuri's birthday surprise.
  • Day 14: In House A, for whispering to each other, Melisa and Princess were made to dance to the song Careless Whisper whenever it was played. Delio, Paul Jake and Cathy were made to speak in a child's, woman's and old man's voice, respectively, due to their lapel microphone violations. For continually sleeping amidst the playing of the wake-up call, Jason must wear a folding bed unto his back. For Yuri's birthday celebration, Big Brother allowed House B housemates to use the pool in House A, staying only in the pool area, while House A's denizens were confined at the men's bedroom.

Week 3

  • Day 15: In House B, Hermes was made to speak in a girl's voice due to his lapel microphone violation, while Tom was made to eat using stirrers for using the teaspoon to stir his coffee. Big Brother Swap

Swap Housemates Cathy from the Philippines (upper left) and Kätlin from Finland (right) finally meet through Skype.

It was announced by the program on Day 21 (October 24, 2009) that another Big Brother Swap would take place. This time, one from either House would trade places with another housemate from another foreign edition of Big Brother. This would also be the second time that Pinoy Big Brother linked up with other foreign versions of the show, Season 2 being the first, when housemate Bruce Quebral traded places with Tina Semolič from the first season of Big Brother Slovenia.

On Day 26, it was announced by the host that the show would be swapping housemates with Big Brother Finland's fifth season. On Oct. 29, 2009, ABS-CBN's Youtube channel, iABS-CBN [6], uploaded a video confirming that the housemate from Big Brother Finland who will swap places in the Philippines is Kätlin Laas (video), a 22-year-old food processing plant worker originally from Rakvere, Estonia but migrated to Finland at the age of 16, and is currently living in Seinäjoki, Finland. On Day 27, it was announced that Cathy from Group A, then currently living in House B, would be swapping with Kätlin and would be going to Finland to live in their Big Brother House for a week. Cathy's selection was made through a series of tasks on which the housemates underwent on the watchful eyes of the Finnish producers.

Kätlin left the Big Brother Finland House on Day 26 (Day 66 of the Finnish version) and enter either Philippine House on Day 29 (Day 69 of the Finnish version). She was supposed to arrive in the Philippines and enter either House the day before, but her flight was delayed due to weather disturbances caused by Typhoon Santi. Hours before her entrance, she had a brief appearance on the show The Buzz. On the other hand, Cathy was supposed to leave in the morning of Day 28 (Day 68 of the Finnish version) but their flight was postponed to a later hour of the day.

Much like the first Big Swap, events from both Houses are chronicled. Also, all conversations in English are subtitled in Filipino and all Finnish conversations and confessions are dubbed over by Filipino voice actors. For the Finnish version, clips from the Philippine house are shown in the Big Brother Extra show, while conversations in English are subtitled in Suomi.

The Big Swap started on the evening of Day 29 (Day 69 of the Finnish version). Kätlin initially stayed in House A upon her arrival on Day 29. She transferred to House B on Day 31. On Day 32, Cathy and Kätlin were finally able to meet through a video call through Skype. Later that day, Kätlin returned to House A. She left the Philippine House on the morning of Day 34 (early morning of Day 74 of the Finnish version). She was briefly interviewed for the morning show Umagang Kay Ganda just after stepping outside the front door. Meanwhile, Cathy entered on the evening of Day 69 of the Finnish version (early morning of Day 30 of the Philippines version). She left six days later on the evening of Day 74 of the Finnish version (early morning of Day 35 of the Philippine version), signaling the end of the Big Swap.

Kätlin left the Philippines the same day she left the Pinoy Big Brother house and re-entered their house in the early morning of Day 75 of the Finnish version (Day 35 of the Philippine version). Cathy left Finland the morning after she left the Finnish Big Brother house and re-entered the Pinoy Big Brother house on the evening of Day 36 (Day 76 of the Finnish version).

Below is a list of activities each swapped housemate did in their respective host country's Houses, aside from introductions and trading of basic phrases:

The Filipino housemates should include Kätlin in their presentation while the Finnish housemates should work four at a time in the upstairs room while Cathy is not around. However, it was later revealed that the real weekly task of the Filipino housemates is to make Kätlin feel the Filipino hospitality, to which she felt that both houses were friendly, yet she felt more warmth with House A.

More than three weeks after the Swap ended, on Day 97 of the fifth Finnish season, Kätlin was proclaimed as second placer, behind Aso.

Weekly tasks

Both houses do the same weekly task. By the end of the week, Big Brother assesses each house. Assessment would depend whether the task is a competition between two houses or each house would be assessed on its own. If the task is a competition, the winning house gets their allowance for the upcoming week while the losing house gets no money.

Group A housemates are housemates initially from House A while Group B housemates are housemates initially from House B, with the exception of Tom, originally part of House A, and Melisa, originally part of House B, who were swapped by Big Brother before the end of the first weekly task. For the fourth weekly task, the housemates swapped houses, and Rob and Carol swapped groups.

For the sixth weekly task, aside from the weekly budget, the winning house only had the housemate/s with the highest point as its nominee/s for the following week while the losing house had the housemates with the top three different points as its nominees. As a reward in the fourth and last challenge, the Group A got their clothes and the house of their choice.

For the seventh weekly task, aside from the weekly budget, the winning house will only have the housemate/s with the highest point as its nominee/s and also be able to give one housemate from the losing house an automatic nomination. As winners, Group B got their clothes.

Before the eighth weekly task started, the females of each group swap houses. Males from Group A and females from Group B were to be known as "Neo-Group A" while females from Group A and males from Group B were to be known as "Neo-Group B".

  • Template:Fnb With Patrick's sacrifice of standing straight on a cart for 12 hours, House B got 50% of their weekly budget.
  • Template:Fnb Originally, all male housemates with the exception of Jason who will be wearing a flesh-colored bodysuit, will be dancing naked while all female housemates will wear a T-back bikini. However, due to some housemates' families' reaction about the task, House A housemates Tibo (in exchange for groceries for his family with the same amount as their weekly budget) and Johan decided to wear a flesh-colored bodysuit and T-back bikini, respectively, while all House B housemates decuded to wear flesh-colored bodysuits. House A scored 185 points, down from their 350 base points after committing 18 mistakes. House B scored -1130 points, down from their 100 base points after committing 82 mistakes.
  • Template:Fnb Upon her arrival at the Confession Room, Kätlin Laas chose Group B's artwork which signaled their win. Both artworks were actually half-finished.
  • Template:Fnb Group B housemates, performing first, had a variety show which included Patria explaining the Philippine Flag, a series of dances including Paro-Parong Bukid danced by Rob and Yuri, Tinikling danced by Mariel and Tom, and the boys dancing Maglalatik, a role-playing on Filipino family and courtship and Tom and Kätlin singing Maalaala Mo Kaya. Group A housemates had a Wowowee type of show including dancing the Pandanggo sa Ilaw with Kätlin, dancing the Maglalatik, playing Filipino games, acting out certain Filipino television advertisements and soap operas, role-playing on Filipino courtship, dancing Singkil and Balagtasan (old Filipino form of a poetic debate) with Delio.
  • Template:Fnb Only four challenges were held because Group A swept the first three challenges. The fourth challenge, deemed a special reward challenge, was also won by Group A. Thus, a fifth game was not necessary.
  • Template:Fnb Neo-Group A's video, which had an anti-vice advocacy theme, earned 47,862 views against the 121,182 views of Neo-Group B's video, a midget skit entitled Pinoy Big Babies Toddlers Up.

  • Template:Fnb Each day, a food carving theme was announced. In order, the themes were animals, representations of the Philippines and floral arrangements. The fake Bigg Boss group won on a score of 50,123 against the Philippines' 39,587.

Head of Household and Hand Grenade

As the two houses became one, on Day 68, Big Brother revealed to the housemates two new twists this season, the Head of Household and Hand Grenade twists. The Head of Household twist is similar to the twist of the second season of Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Edition. Each week, the housemates will undergo HoH competitions. The HoH for the week will get the following privileges for winning:

  • Immunity from nominations
  • Use of shower room at any time
  • Being able to receive items from the outside world that they desire
  • Sending a text message to anyone at the outside world

The housemate who will be the ultimate loser in the HOH competitions will be chosen each week to become a hand grenade user, where they will have to do a specific task.

Nomination history

The housemate first mentioned in each nomination gets two points, while the second gets one point. The percentage of votes shown is the percentage of votes to save unless other wise stated.

At least two housemates from each house will be up for eviction. This means that there are at least four housemates nominated every nomination night. However, the housemate with lowest number of votes, no matter which house s/he is in, would be eliminated. Group A housemates are housemates initially from House A while Group B housemates are housemates initially from House B, with the exception of Tom, originally part of House A, and Melisa, originally part of House B, who were swapped by Big Brother before the first nomination. The color code beside the housemates' names correspond to their current house or the house they were in at the time of eviction. However, the color for the names of the nominees indicate the group to which they each belong at the time of nomination and subsequent salvation from eviction.

On Day 23, the housemates switched houses, with Group A living in House B and vice versa. On Day 24, Rob and Carol swapped Groups and Houses, and are now therefore part of Groups B and A respectively. The color for groups did not change however.

On Day 39, as a result of the 4th game in the 6th weekly task, Group A and Group B housemates swapped houses once again. The color for groups did not change however.

On Day 50, the females of each group switched Houses. Group A's males and Group B's females were to be called "Neo-Group A," while Group A's females and Group B's males were to be known as "Neo-Group B." Both of the new-groups were therefore given new colors below; the colors for the Houses stay the same.

On Day 57, for the Seventh nomination night, Neo-Group A housemates nominated Neo-Group B housemates and vice-versa. One point was given to each nominees instead of the usual 1 and 2 points. Big Brother then revealed the top two nominees, regardless of ties, to the housemates of each house. They were given the chance to discuss whether they would change their nominees or not. However, Big Brother announced that all housemates are up for eviction, with the viewers voting to evict.

On Day 63, Big Brother announced that the remaining housemates would be living in House A. Carol, Hermes, Melisa, Rica and Yuri were told to stay in House B to await the announcement of the evictee the following day. On Day 64, the fourteen remaining housemates all stayed in House A. Starting from the eighth nomination/eviction night, viewers will have the chance to either vote to save or evict a housemate.

On Day 68, Big Brother announced that there will be Head of Household (HOH) competitions each week. The HOH gets immunity from nominations.

From the eight nomination night onwards, a new voting scheme was used, wherein the viewers are given the choice of voting to save or voting to evict a housemate. The percentage of voting to evict will be subtracted to the percentage of voting to save. The housemate who will get the highest vote to evict (negative) percentage will get evicted. In case that all housemates incur positive percentage of votes after the sum-total, the housemate with the lowest percentage of votes will be evicted. Also, with the housemates already living in one house, the housemates with the three highest points will be nominated for eviction.

Template:FnbJP voluntarily left the House on Day 3. He last stayed in House B before he exited. JM, Kenny and Toffi failed their task and had to leave on Day 5. Jimson was part of Group B before he was evicted.
Template:FnbPrincess, Mariel and Yhel were given an automatic nomination by Big Brother for talking about nominations with their fellow housemates. House B was given the opportunity to do a sacrifice to save one of the automatically nominated housemates, which they chose to be Mariel. Princess voluntarily left the House on Day 22. She was part of Group A before she left. On Day 24, Rob and Carol were swapped to opposing groups. On Day 25, the voting for the Second Eviction Night was canceled due to Yhel's forced eviction, dubbed as the first forced eviction for the season. She was part of Group B before she was forcibly evicted.
Template:FnbThere were three nominees from Group B as there was a tie for the highest points scored. Both Tom and Mariel scored 5 points while Patrick scored 4 points, making him the third nominee, with the second highest nomination points. Delio was part of Group A before he was evicted.
Template:FnbAs Cathy was still en route from Finland to the Philippines, she was not able to nominate, although she could be nominated. Meanwhile, Tibo and Paul were each tied for the most nomination points with 5, while Jason and Carol were tied for the second most points with 3. On Day 39, voting was suspended due to Tom's exit from the house to be confined to the hospital. On Day 40, Tom was able to return, although voting remained suspended. On Day 41, it was announced that Tom has been forcibly evicted from the house. He left the next day accompanied by ex-housemate Princess. He was part of Group B before he left the house.
Template:FnbAs per stipulation for the weekly task, only the top nomination point earner from Group A and the top three point earners from Group B were nominated. Tom, who was physically at House B during the nominations did not participate as he was already regarded as evicted. Patria was part of Group B when she was evicted.
Template:FnbAs per stipulation for the weekly task, only the top nomination point earner from Group B and the top two point earners from Group A were nominated. In addition to that, Group B automatically nominated Rica as part of their reward. As Rob and Patrick had the same highest number of nomination points, they were both nominated. As new housemates, Rocky and Sam were exempted from nominations. They were given the chance to nominate but their votes were not counted. Rocky nominated Hermes and Yuri, while Sam nominated Mariel and Hermes, for one and two points respectively. Rob was part of Neo-Group B when he was evicted.
Template:FnbAs the nomination process was changed, the top two nominees for Neo-Group A were Johan and Yuri. However, after the discussion of Neo-Group B, Kath was placed as a nominee instead of Yuri. The top two nominees for Neo-Group B were Rica and Rocky; no change in nominees happened after Neo-Group A's discussion. However, Big Brother later on announced that all housemates are up for eviction. On Day 63, voting was officially closed and all saved housemates were asked to stay in House A with the exception of Carol, Hermes, Melisa, Rica and Yuri who were asked to stay in House B until the next day. Yuri was part of Neo-Group A when she was evicted.
Template:FnbOn Day 67, Rocky voluntarily exited the house. Due to her loss in the HOH competition, Carol was tasked to give the full three points to one housemate face-to-face.
Template:FnbAs the designated three kings, Hermes, Johan and Patrick had to give 3 points for nomination to one housemate, 1 point from each of them.

Nomination Totals

As the Lagumbay and Santos twins were out of the House before the first nomination night, their names have not been included in the table below. For the seventh nomination, Neo-Group A housemates nominated Neo-Group B housemates, giving 1 point each to the two housemates of their choice.
