Welcome to WikiProject Statistics!

Anscombe's quartet, four datasets constructed by Francis Anscombe to have identical simple statistical properties including the same means, variances, and linear regression lines, but which are revealed to be very different when inspected graphically.

To improve Wikipedia's coverage of statistics and the organization of information and articles on this topic.

This page and its subpages contain their suggestions and various resources; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians interested in the topic. If you would like to help, please join the project, inquire on the talk page and see the to do lists below.

This WikiProject covers articles related to statistics, including the history of statistics and biographies of statisticians. Articles within its scope include those in:

An expandable tree view of subcategories of Category:Statistics is available at CategoryTree->Statistics.

The list of statistics topics is being extended to include existing articles not previously listed and any new or unlisted statistics-related articles should be added. The list contains 2233 items, including some redirects (29 July 2009: was 1731 on 31 December 2008: was 1213 on 04 August 2008: was 945 on 22 May 2008). The list is not at present very sophisticated and this project could undertake general improvements given that lists are far more versatile than categories.   • Consider adding one of these navigational boxes to the end of the article:
  • Add {{WPStatistics}} to the article's discussion page
  • Tag the discussion page with
{{maths rating|field=probability and statistics | importance= | class=}}
using appropriate values for the class and importance parameters as described here.
