Deletion of user talk page

It was a few weeks ago, and you've probably forgotten about it, but back on 13 July you tagged User talk:Jf75dmcd for deletion as a userspace page requested for deletion by the user (CSD U1). However, that criterion for speedy deletion explicitly states that user talk pages are not included. Except under exceptional circumstances user talk pages, unlike other user-space pages, are not deleted, as there are very good reasons for keeping a full record of messages the user has received, in case there is a need to check the history of the user. How did I dig it up? I don't remember exactly how I got to that page, but basically it was a matter of checking the editing history of someone I made a note of to keep an eye on because of some sort of unconstructive editing, in the course of which I happened to find something about another editor with dubious editing, and checking that one led me to another unconstructive editor... Patrol tag and move without redirect

I hate to be beaten by the wikimedia software so if you are in the pub on Sunday, you can show me how to mark these two as patrolled: James Cantor/Circles of Support and Accountability and IIVeaa/sandbox.

Interestingly, these two: IGD - Immobiliare Grande Distribuzione SIIQ S.P.A. and Fr. The only thing I can suggest to really learn how to write at Wikipedia in terms of style and tone etc. is to read the Manual of Style, Tony1's copyediting essays and just ruthlessly apply common sense and try to be a calming influence. If someone challenges you on something, again, just work with them calmly to try and find a common sense solution to the problem.

As for Company's Coming? Cookbooks aren't really my thing, I'm afraid. I'm also more of a WikiGnome who fixes stuff (vandalism, image stuff, deletion requests) behind the scenes rather than someone who writes lots of content. From the Citizendium perspective, WikiProjects are the closest thing there is at Wikipedia to Citizendium's workgroups, so you might want to have a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Food and drink. If you want to rewrite it, go ahead!

You can ask on their talk page or find someone from the participant list. You might also want to have a look at the 'assessment' section of Food and drink (or any other WikiProject) - it is a table with links to lists of articles by their quality and importance. If you find an article that is currently tagged as stub or start, you might want to help expand it to move it up to C or B grade, and then eventually submit it for good article review. I've written a few GA reviews so you can see roughly what a GA review is like: Barney Frank, Émile Durkheim and Euro.

Did you know...?

Tom if you have some free time could you help me understand how to submit a Did You Know...? article. I have the page all ready to publish as well as the teaser sentence. But after reading and rereading the instructions I'm very timid about trying it. I'm sure I'm going to mess it up because it does not make sense to me.

I don't just want someone to do it for me, I want to know how to do it so I will be able to do it by myself the next time.

The editor that usually helps me out is really busy right now ridding the Internet of The Internet Troll David Mavis and that is waaay more important than helping me put up a DYK article.

I can't help today as I'm at work, but there's a long weekend coming up in the UK for the next three days. Kulshreshtha article

I am trying create an article on "Kulshreshtha Community of India. I believe you have objections over the source of the information. The source is quoted in most cases. Example, Rig Veda, Garuda Purana whoch are all old Indian religious and spiritual texts. These texts also help in tracing the history of our culture. Other facts are based on real life findings about this community through research.

Kayasthas are the 2nd largest community in India. I believe information on prominent Kayastha communities like Kulshreshthas deserves a place on prominent databases. Haven't received a reply from you or may be I am not using the tool the right way. I am waiting for you to direct your specific question regarding the correctness of the facts mentioned in the Kulshreshtha article. Since in India peole like to backgrounds and origins of communities and surnames when they come across one, I felt the need to document it. Its ok. I will get the original source when I visit India again. The source is Rig Veda and some Puranas, if you know what they are. I don't have them here. Course Using Wikipedia

Hello Tom. Can I ask for your advice? I teach a class this fall in critical thinking where I plan to assign the editing of Wikipedia articles. See Reality Check. My hope would be to ask students to submit their completed works to the WP:SKEPTICSM project for review with the goal being to achieve a Good Article status. • Triple Crown awards: Last week, the awards for contributions to Do You Know, Good article and Featured content, awarded its very first award for a contribution of 100 sets of Triple crowns. The Marco Polo Centurion triple crown was awarded to TonyTheTiger for his outstanding contributions to Wikipedia. The award level was newly created for the occasion, pushing requirements for the following level, the Ultimate triple crown, to 250 sets. Editors can nominate themselves for a Triple crown with just one set of DYK, GA and FC.

Thanks for the comment. I'm not sure about the use of WP:RFC but at least one other editor has indicated that asking is okay. I believe the article in question meets all criteria for a start class on wikipedia, but the main problem seems to be getting readers to either comment (which are helpful to me) or vote. One article I created had more than 3100 readers during the AfD period and only ten voted (including me). That apathy can't be good. I've also had articles AfD by Roscelese before without any effort on article discussion pages. I have the impression that reaching for the AfD button is too much of a reflex. AfD may be too much of a reflex, but I'm not sure what your concern is: starting an RfC is generally not done at AfD, and the only reason you seem to want it is to increase participation at the AfD. That sounds rather like canvassing. If there isn't enough participation in the AfD, it'll get relisted and if there still isn't enough, it'll be closed as no consensus (and kept). —Tom Morris (talk) 18:10, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
