    Article title question

Hi, I stumbled across Satyanarayan Singh (Bihar politician, died 2020). That's the title of the article. Is that correct or does it need to be changed? If so, how does one change it? Thank you. :) Abillionradios (talk) 00:43, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Abillionradios the title looks fine: Satyanarayan Singh lists several Bihar politicians, hence the need to mention the date of death. See Wikipedia:Disambiguation. TSventon (talk) 01:29, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I did wonder. Thank you so much. :) Abillionradios (talk) 01:57, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Finding the right OCLC

Dear Help Desk. It seems that books cited as sources in Wikipedia articles should be identified with an OCLC number if they are too old for ISBN. So I started looking for OCLCs for such sources. I went to the WorldCat website, typed in the book's title, and then checked for the right publisher and publication year. I have added such OCLCs on many sources in the articles on my watchlist. Then I found that in the case of books available on Internet Archive, an OCLC number is often given among the metadata of the book in Internet Archive. However, the OCLC numbers found in these two ways rarely (never?) agree. Which OCLC number should be preferred?

    Examples:

    • Debrett, John (1828). Peerage of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. Vol. 2 (17th ed.). London: F. C. and J. Rivington. OCLC 54499602.

    Internet Archive: no OCLC given.

The OCLC above is the one given by Internet Archive where the title page says 1930 but the metadata say 1910. In WorldCat I found (year is 1910): 2643587

The OCLC above is the one given by Internet Archive. In WorldCat I found (year is 1955): 316159899

With many thanks and best regards, Johannes Schade (talk) 09:22, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Dear Team,

We are unable to log in to the page we have created in the wiki.

We don't know the username mail or password.

kindly let us know the username and mail of our wiki so we can log in and make the necessary changes.

    Thanks. Team D.K Taknet

Assuming that this is about an article on Wikipedia and not some other wiki site:
    • You don't need a username or password to edit the article. If you plan to make edits, you are encouraged, though not required, to create an account.
    • It's not "your" wiki, it's Wikipedia's article. If you have some connection with the subject of the article, you shouldn't edit it yourself (or yourselves, see below). Instead, you should describe the changes you propose on its talk page.
    • You have signed as a team. Wikipedia does not allow teams to share an account.
    Maproom (talk) 10:13, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Hello, team. I think you have a misunderstanding of what Wikipedia is. D K Taknet is an encyclopaedia article: it has no connection to any account, and it is not possible to "log into it". It does not belong to Taknet or his team, and they do not control its contents. Any editor (logged in or not) may edit it - except those who have a conflict of interest.
What you should do if you want to recommend changes to that article is:
    • Create a personal account for each individual who is going to be working on this. (This is not compulsory, but is strongly recommended). The accounts do not need to have the person's real name (I do, but many editors use a pseudonym), but they should not look as if they are used by a team. So for example "JHT at Taknet team" would be OK if you wanted to show your affiliation.
    • Each of the accounts should put a notice on its user page explaining your connection to Taknet. If you are in any way paid or employed to do this, then you are considered a paid editor, and you must put a declaration on your user page.
    • For each change you wish to see in the article, make an edit request on the article's talk page, being as specific as you can (eg "Add sentence ...", or "Change text X to Y", and give a reliably published source for any information you wish to add.
    • An uninvolved editor will in time see your request, and decide what to do with it.

Dk.taknet (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) hasn't set an email adress in their preferences, or it is unconfirmed. But even if it had, since it breaks the username policy, a new account (name) is required anyway. 14:10, 21 May 2021 (UTC)

USE OF A PAINTING THAT IS DISPLAYED IN WKIPEDIA

I WOULD LIKE TO USE WINSLOW HOMER'S PAINTING "EIGHT BELLS" IN MY COMPANY'S INFORMATION. HIS DEATH IS OVER 70 YEARS AGO. IS IT LEGAL TO USE THIS IMAGE? WHO OWNS THIS PAINTING? WHO DO I ASK FOR A FORMAL APPROVAL? STEVE KALISH — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.199.118.144 (talk) 13:21, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Steve. Thanks for stopping by to ask. First of all, please don't type in ALL CAPS when writing messages to people. It gets interpreted as SHOUTING and can be seen as distracting and rude. Secondly, questions about media copyright can be found by clicking the image in question and reading the image license. If you click the image in the article Eight Bells (painting), you'll see the following text under the lisencing:
This work is in the public domain in its country of origin and other countries and areas where the copyright term is the author's life plus 100 years or fewer.
This work is in the public domain in the United States because it was published (or registered with the U.S. Copyright Office) before January 1, 1926.
Being that the work is in the public domain, that means it is free to use without restriction. This is not true of most images at Wikipedia, however, so do take care. In the future, if you have trickier copyright questions, you may want to direct them to Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, which specializes in helping people with questions just like this one. --Jayron32 13:27, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Creating subpages

Greetz Helpdeskers, hoe all is well. Does anyone know if we have, say a script, or add-on, that allows the automatic creation of a user subpage? E.g.—if I wanted to create User:Serial Number 54129/Knows FA about WP, it would be handy if the user, etc, bit was pre-filled and I just added my title. If you get my drift. Cheers! ——Serial 14:41, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    This sounds like a job for Help:Inputbox: —Cryptic 15:03, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    You could also do this:
Which discretely prefixes your user talk prefix Victor Schmidt (talk) 16:19, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, thanks, @Cryptic and Victor Schmidt:, that's absolutely the thing I wanted. Is there a big difference between the two? And, also, can I just copy this code to e.g. my userpage for easy access? (as: having the memory of a goldfish, I'll forget I even asked here by next week!). Thanks very much for your really useful replies! ——Serial 16:33, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Serial Number 54129: The main difference is that my solution discretely prepends User:Serial Number 54129/ (which means you can't forget it) while Cryptic's Solution doesn't do that automatically, meaing if you replace the inputbox content with "Example", you might end up at Example. One small note though: When you want to create user supages, you obviviously want to have the default= param state User:Serial Number 54129/ so the page actually lands in the user namespace and not on the talkpage. But yes, if you take care of that you can safely copy that to your userpage. Victor Schmidt (talk) 17:24, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    That's understood, thanks both, again!  :) ——Serial 19:47, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Infobox

How do I replace a photo in an Infobox?

Felbridge - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felbridge - I am trying to update the pic of St John the Divine Parish Church with a March 2021 photo from my friend Malcolm Francis who has given me authority to do this. I had no difficulty updating the pic of the church interior , but this is in an Infobox - can't see how to replace the photo in the Infobox. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Drgordonwilkinson (talkcontribs) 16:15, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Drgordonwilkinson I assume you are talking about File:StJohnsFelbridgeExteriorMarch2021.jpg. Has your friend contacted Wikimedia Commons to confirm that he releases his rights to the file? There is a suitable email template at Commons:OTRS#Email message template for release of rights to a file. If this is not done the image is liable to be deleted from Commons.
To replace the image open the article, click edit source, find the code for the infobox at the top of the article and replace the name of the old image with the name of the new image. TSventon (talk) 17:32, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I will send the link to Malcolm and he can confirm his release of copyright for the image. Thanks for your support. Drgordonwilkinson (talk 16:41, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I have added a mention of Richard Whittington to Whittington College in the article. TSventon (talk) 17:50, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I have some more background on that from Felbridge Parish and People, published by the Felbridge Parish Council in 1999. Meanwhile, I am having difficulty swapping the photo. Malcolm filled out the copyright release form and sent me a copy.
You said "To replace the image open the article, click edit source, find the code for the infobox at the top of the article and replace the name of the old image with the name of the new image" - is the following the page where I should make the changes - https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:St_John_the_Divine_at_Felbridge_-_geograph.org.uk_-_23455.jpg
I want to replace the existing image with: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:StJohnsFelbridgeExteriorMarch2021.jpg but just can't see how to do it and include the photo data - date taken, camera settings etc. Drgordonwilkinson (talk 10:49, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Drgordonwilkinson, I have replaced the image. The old image stays on Commons, but the image name in the article infobox is updated. Commons now confirms the email has been received. The full photodata is not needed in the article, but is available on Commons. The image caption is in the ninth line of the Felbridge article code, following "static_image_caption=". @Drgordonwilkinson: By the way you can notify me or another editor by using the reply to {{reply to|Username}} template and signing your post ~~~~. TSventon (talk) 15:56, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That's very kind of you and your support is really appreciated. The new photo looks so much better than the old one! If you are interested in more background on Whittington College, let me know how I can share a scanned image of a couple of pages from the reference doc I mentioned earlier. Highlighted things being deleted when using copy-paste

I was just wondering if anyone knows why a highlighted part of like when you want to paste something, is deleted and just keeps getting deleted after trying again and again? A particular topic on List of Nintendo Switch games (A–F), I don't usually like to type everything out by hand, so I copy and paste, and when doing so, it's deleted and it frustrates me. Zacharyalejandro (talk) 17:26, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure you are using copy (ctrl-C) and not cut (ctrl-X)? --Jayron32 18:15, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm actually on a mobile phone. It was working out great some time ago, and now it doesn't seem to work. After highlighting the part, it just deletes it. Even on an Android phone it happens often now. And I don't know if others are having a similar problem, could someone ask and experiment if they are having this issue and it's not just me? And yes, I'm using copy and not cut. Zacharyalejandro (talk) 20:54, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Very small font size

Since a day or two, English Wikipedia's texts (article content) appear in a very small font size on my screen. My skin is Vector with "Use Legacy Vector" preference. I have exactly the same preferences in German-language Wikipedia, but there the text appears in normal size. Maybe connected to this (German thread) and Task 283206, but I don't see the effect of the shrunken font in English Wikipedia mentioned there. Any hints, ideas, or can someone report this effect in the appropriate place (another Phabricator thread? My experience with Phabricator is limited and I don't feel confident in handling it). Gestumblindi (talk) 18:47, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Note: Unchecking "Use Legacy Vector" doesn't change this, the font size here in English Wikipedia remains much too small. Gestumblindi (talk) 18:49, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Try holding down the ctrl key and push the + key. Sometimes you can accidentally zoom out/in and the browser remembers those settings next time you visit that website. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 18:57, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, but that's not it. My zoom factor is on 100 %. Of course I could zoom in to increase the font size, but the standard size at 100 % (neither zoomed in nor zoomed out) is now very small (note, only in *English* Wikipedia), and that started about 2 days ago. Gestumblindi (talk) 19:02, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
In the German thread, Hgzh pointed out the preference to which this is connected: It happens if "Vector classic typography (use only sans-serif in Vector skin)" is checked in Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets. I unchecked the "classic typography" and now my font size is normal again. But I suppose that this gadget needs fixing. Gestumblindi (talk) 19:10, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
There is already a discussion at the technical village pump here. MediaWiki:Gadget-VectorClassic.css needs to be adjusted. -- hgzh 21:49, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Amna.anwar (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this: ~~~~. Or, you can use the [ reply ] button, which automatically signs posts.) I would recommend going through Articles for Creation. You can follow instructions to create a draft where you can create the article at your own pace. Then once it's finished, you may submit it, and if it's up to standard, it will be put in the wiki. Please note that any new articles must be about a notable subject: receiving coverage in multiple independent reliable sources, see WP:GNG. Thanks! What is Going on Here, Pronoun Confusion?

I was just reading an article about Demi Lovato. As I was reading, I noticed a series of subject pronoun errors. Do you folks not edit your work, or have you capitulated to the new labeling of persons who refuse to be identified by our acknowledge their gender? (*here, the pronoun "their" is used correctly / conventionally).

I have donated to Wikipedia in the past because it has been a useful place to go for information on certain subjects. But if Wikipedia is going to expect me to relearn the use of pronouns in order to make sense of its articles, then I'll just forget about using it as a source. I will look at other articles, but if I continue to see consistent misguided attempts to accommodate the agenda of a tiny portion of our population, I will definitely say adios to Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:646:9a80:b180:d4da:1dec:f1c6:f19f (talk)

Lovato has identified as non-binary and asks to be referred to as they/them. Wikipedia respects this because independent reliable sources have reported it. You are free to believe what you wish, but if you refuse to call people what they want to be called, that says more about you than them and we will have to get by without your visiting. Wikipedia does not change content because of donations or refusing to donate; otherwise everyone would blackmail Wikipedia to change its content. 331dot (talk) 16:39, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A certain move of mine — what happened?

Hello all! I'm here with a somewhat unusual question. I don't know where to ask, but this was the best place I could find. On 15 May 2021, I moved a page (created in userspace, duplicating an existing page, and incorrectly moved into mainspace), User:Eochoa31/Speculative fiction by writers of color, back into userspace. I don't exactly recall what I did, but it appears that I moved this page over a redirect, and deleted the redirect by overwriting (Move log · Deletion log). I'm not a page mover or an administrator, and have never been either. Can someone help me figure out how exactly I did this? Tol | Talk | Contribs 00:39, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Tol: You were allowed to do that. Wikipedia:Moving a page#Moving over a redirect says: "If the new title exists but is a redirect to the old title with a single line in the page history, then you can rename the page using the regular procedure." Hi, I'd like to rename "Category:Stories within Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio" to "Category:Stories within Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio" (as well as the parent category), given that the latter is the more commonly-used English translation. If you have Twinkle, just use the Xfd function to nominate it for renaming. Or you can do it manually at WP:Cfd. Clarityfiend (talk) 10:28, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Or a combination of the two, since you want to rename three categories. The denizens over there complain if you don't bundle them (I know that from recent experience), though the instructions are lacking in that aspect. Clarityfiend (talk) 10:33, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Opening a new biography page

How do I open a new biography page to describe the history and status of a certain person or organization ? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.97.1.134 (talk) 11:08, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Your words "open a ... page" suggest that you have a (very common) misunderstanding of what Wikipedia is. The activity that most closely corresponds to what you are asking is to "write an encyclopaedia article" about the person or organisation. You are welcome to do so, but please be aware that 1) writing an article is much more difficult than it looks, especially for an inexperienced editor; 2) unless you first find the independent reliable sources that establish that the person or organisation meets Wikipedia's criteria for notability, then no article will be accepted however it is written; and 3) such an article will not belong to the person or organisation, will not necessarily say what they want it to, and should be based almost entirely what people unconnected with them have published about them, not on what they have said themselves.
My advice to you is to
    • Create an account (not obligatory, but it makes it easier for other editors to communicate with you)
    • Spend a few months improving some of our six million existing articles, while you learn how Wikipedia works (many of them are in dire need of improvement!)
    • Read your first article to get a sense of how to go about creating one.
    Good luck! --ColinFine (talk) 11:48, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Template for historical currency rates?

I remember some while ago there was something (I think a template not the article Tables of historical exchange rates to the United States dollar) which would convert a currency amount at a particular year to USD. It was a little out of date and someone was trying to get a recent year's data from the World Bank or IMF. But I cannot remember who that was or what it is called. Do you know and does it now include 2019 and 2020? Chidgk1 (talk) 11:13, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Stephen Bartle. You haven't said which article you want to add Blossom's name to - but at present it is irrelevant, because we haven't got an article on Blossom, so he should not be added to such a list. If he meets Wikipedia's criteria for notability, then an article could be written on him, and he could then be added to lists of alumni etc. --ColinFine (talk) 21:01, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Battle of Vimy Ridge

Courtesy link: Battle of Vimy Ridge

You will note that the result is classified as a "British Empire victory". While this is true in a technical sense, it obscures the fact that it was specifically a Canadian victory. While Canada indeed part of the British Empire, it was also an independent dominion at the time and it was the Canadian Corps led by Canadian commanders who secured the victory after considerable failure by their British predecessors on site.

This may seem like a trivial matter to non-Canadians and we all know the British love to take credit for the accomplishments of their former imperial subjects, but it is not a trivial matter to Canadians. Canadians should be given their proper due.

Please be aware that this is a Featured article which has gone through rigorous peer review. As for becoming an administrator, you are welcome to read Wikipedia:Guide to requests for adminship, but as a new editor, your chance for success is essentially zero. Successful candidates almost always have at least a year of active experience including thousands of edits creating content and assisting the encyclopedia behind the scenes. Help me add my father to list

Hi I've never done this before so im having trouble. Can you please help me add my father's name to your list of surviving WW2 veterans in their 90s? His name is Raymond Owczarski, DOB June 1, 1927. He is from St.Francis, WI, and still resides in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. I am 53yrs old and i am his daughter, Sara. My mother's name is Alice June Owczarski (maiden name Safian) and she passed away in May of 1985. Thankyou so much. I'd love him to be added to you list and site because he's a wonderful man and was a wonderful father, and im very proud of him. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DautofRay27 (talkcontribs) 23:13, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, DautofRay27. First of all, you have a Conflict of interest. Please read that link. The article in question is List of notable surviving veterans of World War II. The word "notable" appears in the title for a reason. Please read about how notability is defined for a person. This is a list of people who already have a Wikipedia biography in English or in another language, because they have received significant coverage in independent, reliable sources. Being a "wonderful man" has nothing to do with it. In a quick Google search, I was not able to find any evidence that your father is notable as Wikipedia defines that term, but I am open to seeing evidence. Hello, Gary. Autobiographies are highly discouraged, and the vast majority of people why try to write one are unsuccessful. Wikipedia is a neutral encyclopedia, not a platform for self-promotion. Read about Conflict of interest editing, and read Your first article. If you decide to try it (which I do not recommend), then use the Articles for creation process. Editing direct quotations to use current pronouns

Hi! Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this, but I tried editing a quote on this page to use Demi Lovato's current pronouns (in brackets), but it was quickly reverted with the reason "Don't modify a direct quote". I'm confused because I can't find anything saying you shouldn't edit direct quotations to use the current pronouns of the person mentioned, and I've seen it done on many pages before (such as this one). I figured I should double check here to make sure. Thank you and sorry again if this isn't the right place to ask this! 2600:1700:9540:1E30:205B:4AE2:1D52:7759 (talk) 07:03, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Quotations must be verifiably attributed, and the wording of the quoted text should be faithfully reproduced. This is referred to as the principle of minimal change. Where there is good reason to change the wording, bracket the changed text; for example, "Ocyrhoe told him his fate" might be quoted as "Ocyrhoe told [her father] his fate"." What is "good reason" is a matter of context and consensus (per talkpage discussion), my own knee-jerk reaction is "don't mess with the quote." Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:32, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
In this case, where there has been a deliberate change on Demi's part, I would still say that the original wording of the quote should stand, but there may be reason to make clear that the quote preceded the change and is not a deliberate non-compliance. Non-compliant post-change quotes should probably be avoided out of courtesy, unless their very non-compliance is the significant issue; they should still not be altered.--Verbarson (talk) 10:59, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

MOS:GENDERID says "Paraphrase, elide, or use square brackets to replace portions of quotations to avoid deadnaming or misgendering, except in rare cases where exact wording cannot be avoided, as where there is a pun on the notable former name, etc." - X201 (talk) 12:04, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A bit of MOS against MOS, then. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 17:36, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not for advertising or promotion purposes.

    Hi,

My article for Alexia Inge keeps being deleted due to it being classed as "advertising or for promotional purposes".

As the article is not written for this purpose I am confused as to how it keeps being flagged as this.

I have put the article below in order to see what parts would need to be changed in order for it to be published.

    Many thanks,

Well, how about " is renowned for its curated, results-driven ethos" — marketing-speak that real people, never mind an encyclopaedia, would never use. Also, at least in the version here, there are zero sources, so no-one can verify that someone, somewhere, did once use these words to describe the company. Spub305 You edited your user page, which is not article space and not searchable by search engines. Your user page is a place for you to tell about yourself as a Wikipedia editor or user. New users cannot directly create articles, and must use Articles for Creation. However, you should be aware that autobiographical articles are strongly discouraged per the autobiography policy. Wikipedia is not interested in what people want to say about themselves, but in what independent reliable sources with significant coverage choose on their own to say about them. Wikipedia is also not interested in helping your fans or enhancing search results for you. Wikipedia articles summarize what independent reliable sources say, showing how a person meets Wikipedia's special definition of a notable actor or actress. I have deleted your user page as promotional. 331dot (talk) 10:30, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Also be aware that a Wikipedia article is not necessarily desirable. There are good reasons to not want one. You cannot lock it to the text that you might prefer, or prevent others from editing it. Any information about you, good and bad, can appear in an article about you as long as it is found in an independent reliable source and is not defamatory. 331dot (talk) 10:31, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

How to create an organization page?

I would like to know the process to create a new page for a company. Thank you.

    --Tvairsystems (talk) 11:46, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please read Help:Your first article. Is the company perhaps named TV Air Systems, or similar? If so, please read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:An article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing. Either way, please also read Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). -- Hoary (talk) 11:59, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Tvairsystems Successfully creating a new article(not a mere "page") is the hardest thing to do on Wikipedia- and it's more difficult when one has a conflict of interest as you do. Wikipedia is not a place for companies to tell the world about themselves, it summarizes what others completely unaffiliated with the subject choose on their own to say about it(no press releases, announcements of routine transactions such as the commencement of operations) Please also see the important information I placed on your user talk page regarding your username. 331dot (talk) 12:01, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to make this seem like a pile-on, but, your username is not allowable, you may be blocked because of it. See WP:CORPNAME. The same page also has info on how to change it. - X201 (talk) 13:11, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If it's from knowing her personally, or talking to her, or something like that, and you can't find it previously published anywhere else, it doesn't belong in the article. Entry changes for Fritz Glatz, Austrian Race car driver

    Fritz Glatz (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

I am the personal friend and long-term mechanic of Fritz Glatz, see Wikipedia: the entries in the english section are wrong - and everytime I correct them a „Bbbb23“ reverts them back and threatens with „vandalism“. He has no clue: e.g. Fritz Glatz racing career started in 1965 in England, continued in 1966 for Kaimann Racing Vienna in Formula Vee and came to a stop in August 1966 after a severe accident at the Nurburgring. All can be read in his biografie in German. He restarted the careed at age 39 in F3 and later F2/ F3000 in 1980+, but cars and and entries are sometimes wrong and sources can be checked on Wikipedia; eg. his participation of 4 races in F3000 in 1985, not 2, as written (see Curacao F3000 Race on Oct. 13th, 1985. This writer Bbbb23 seems ignorant and wants to keep these false information in Wikipedia, and every time I correct it he changes it back - and has no clues and probably never met Fritz Glatz. Why make Wikipedia in the first place - if wrong entries are promoted?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Plasonig (talkcontribs)

Plasonig The article in question does appear to be largely unsourced, and has been marked as such. Thank you for bringing this to attention. However, we cannot just accept your word for changes- information needs to be sourced to an independent reliable source for verification purposes. Sister Project Boxes and MOS Conflict

Hi! The MOS Seems to contradict in an area and I could use some clarification.

MOS:SO states that "Internal links to related English Wikipedia articles, with section heading "See also"; link templates for sister-project content also usually go at the top of this section when it is present (otherwise in the last section on the page)"

This is in apparent contradiction to MOS:ELLAYOUT, which states that "Links to Wikimedia sister projects and Spoken Wikipedia should generally appear in "External links", not under "See also". If the article has no "External links" section, then place sister links at the top of the last section in the article. Two exceptions: Wiktionary and Wikisource links may be linked inline (e.g. to an unusual word or the text of a document being discussed)."

So, which is it? Should I put sister project boxes in External links or See also? Thanks, Tyrone Madera (talk) 18:54, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
